I read the entire first and second season on Webtoons in less than a day. I love the premise of the story and so far I don’t feel like it hits the cliche wall that most webtoons follow. I love it so much I wish there were other books like it.
This is a story about a group of high schoolers who go on a school trip that changes their lives forever. Every night after they are in an alternate world with monsters. Soon realities start to blend.
You have to read this if you love horror and monsters. I wish there was more of it. Can’t wait for season 3!
one thing that i had the luxury of not experiencing are red's EVIL cliffhangers on her weekly updates, but now, as sbg is on a year-or-more-long hiatus, i miss it.
the chapters are sadly not very long, but i suppose that makes them digestible, with an easy-to-follow yet simultaneously complex storyline, and an iconic artstyle.
something that i genuinely appreciate so much is the close relationships between the characters, and how everyone's parents/guardians are informed, so the teens don't have to keep the secret as another thing on their plate. the friendships, trust, even relationships are well-formed and natural-ish.
except for the twins and their always-matching outfits.
Me gustó muchísimo. Ojalá salga pronto la tercera temporada
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy
School Bus Graveyard, vol. 1 by Red is a horror YA webtoon. Six high school classmates share the same nightmare every night, one where they have to run from monstrous phantoms and then make plans to keep surviving during the day. Ashlyn, a ballet dancer who keeps to herself and is uninterested in being social, wears earplugs because she can hear phantom noises in the daytime. When the six students become lost in an old house in Savannah, Georgia, Ashlyn’s abilities attract the phantoms to the whole group and lock them into their new reality.
While this was compared to Five Nights at Freddy’s and Stranger Things, I would put this more as being for fans of anime and manga. There are distinct facial expressions that read very anime (and the author is a fan of anime) that I know can make or break an art style for some people. The premise also feels like it would sit fairly comfortably with manga on the shelves and given how fast-paced it is, could help young anime fans get back into reading.
I was really surprised to hear that Red started publishing this shortly after graduating high school. All of the characters feel very distinct, not only visually, but also in terms of personality and what their biggest concerns are with their current predicament. Or, in the case of Aiden, their utter joy at being locked in a nightmare. Having six distinct characters as part of the core cast is a hard thing to pull off and I am curious to see how they all evolve in future installments.
I have not read School Bus Graveyard before, so I do not know how graphic the gore can get further in the story, but I didn’t think this volume was particularly graphic. The horror elements felt like something I would expect of the middle grade range and are not as graphic as what I have seen in a lot of shounen manga and anime. As such, I would say that at least this volume is appropriate for middle schoolers who want horror but want to read about people older than them.
Content warning for depictions of violence and bullying
I would recommend this to fans of shounen manga and young readers of horror who prefer graphic novels
School Bus Graveyard Volume 1 Book Review First off, thank you Netgalley for the ARC! Okay, to be honest this is my second time reading school bus graveyard and to tell you the truth it’s just as good as the first! I’m all for friendships and adventure but when you pair it with danger and monsters in an inter dimensional setting what else can I ask for besides more. I adored the suspense and plot and the monsters. The group with its banter felt like such a breath of fresh air to the scariness. It’s nicely balanced but also keeps you engaged, very much so. I cannot wait to read more and it turns out I’ve been waiting for volume three for over a year now so I really need it like pronto! Truly absolutely five stars! ⭐️
Thank you to Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book for an honest review!!
School Bus Graveyard is dark, morbid and heavy with a little humor thrown in.
Ashlyn, the main character a ballet dancer, keeps to herself and is uninterested in being social, wears earplugs because she can hear phantom noises in the daytime. When the six students become lost in an old house in Savannah, Georgia, Ashlyn’s abilities attract the phantoms to the whole group and lock them into their new reality. They now share the same nightmare every night, one where they have to run from these monstrous phantoms and have to make plans to keep surviving during the day and in their nightmares.
Having six distinct characters as part of the core cast is a hard thing to pull off and I am very curious to see how they all evolve in future volumes!
I adored the characters, especially Aiden with his smile, iykyk, the suspense and plot and let's not forget the phantoms. The group with their banter felt like such a breath of fresh air to the seriousness and scariness of it all. It’s nicely balanced but also keeps you engaged.
Overall, I enjoyed this read! This is definitely a book/manga that is easy to read and follow along with. I love the art, the sharp edges and the muted colors! Definitely different from other mangas/volumes I have read, in a good way!

I finished this in like...one day. (on webtoon) Why? That's what I'm here to tell you. First off characters were on point in this! Ashlyn is incredibly relatable with her thoughts and worries, Aiden is just...funny but at times worrisome with how he LITERALLY never stops smiling! NEVER! Ben is my son, just to be clear, mine. I don't care what he did I only care he can't do it anymore!! Taylor and Tylor were hilarious and so fun, they're these awesome twins, one super caring to everyone and the other super protective only of their sibling. And last is Logan, who is just a small marshmallow who is adorable and I wish to protect. The story is, well yes it is a comic but it is an incredibly well written comic, still plenty of modern world building and character development as well as things decribed super clearly! I also love how all the characters are drawn! I have no other words or compliments to give this book only it left me on a cliff hanger and I have to go read the rest!
Thank you to the publisher for giving me this ARC via NetGalley!
I originally read "School Bus Graveyard" when it had first come out on Webtoon. Reading this volume brought me right back to that prime era of web comics. "School Bus Graveyard" is unique in its horror/fantasy/science fiction formatting. It tells the story of six former strangers, students in high school, who are brought together in an alternate version of their world. For seven hours every night, they are transported into a dimension where creepy-eyed and big-toothed "phantoms" try to kill them, and their only solace is a school bus graveyard. I really enjoyed the additional art included at the end of this book, as it gave the reader insight into the process of drawing as well as some fun art concepts. This volume was a great introduction to the series, and I can't wait for the next one.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
This definitely left me intrigued and I’m really excited to continue the series, especially after that cliffhanger ending. I’m genuinely pumped to see what happens next.
The art style won’t be for everyone, but personally it didn’t bother me at all. I actually really enjoyed it and felt like it fit the tone of the story well. The friend group was another highlight for me, they were genuinely hilarious and made the story even more fun to read.
I’m especially interested in learning more about the shadow world and seeing how the group is going to handle everything that’s coming, because those creatures are no joke.
Overall, this was a really entertaining read and I can’t wait to see where the story goes from here.

I can tell that overtime I will begin to love this more and more, because it has the makings of stories that I love. School Bus Graveyard doesn’t explain what’s happening thoroughly in the first volume, which led to me being confused quite often. Some questions were definitely answered along the way, but I may do better to read more on WebToon, just so I have more answers and I’ll look forward to the release of the next book.
I did find one of the characters insufferably angry all of the time and another was just creepily grinning even when they were in immediate danger. So hopefully that isn’t a recurring thing, but I’ll need to read on and see.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my eARC of the book.
Listen, I know it’s a comic book but it’s genuinely one of the best books I’ve read in January (if not the best)
> the plot LITERALLY AMAZING. I wish I found this in June so vol.3 would be out already 😔 If you like thriller and horror this plot is so perfect for u
> the writing The dialogue is so Gen Z and not in -Netflix trying to relate to teenagers by putting memes into every sentence- kinda way but in a relatable this is ACTUALLY how teenagers talk.
> final review 6 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Definitely worth it Already recommended this to my sister. And will recommend to everyone that’s reads comics
Ashlyn has kept to herself most of her life. When two new kids start at her high school, her life quickly changes. In her history class, there is a group project and she is suckered into attending an overnight field trip to Savannah. Things continue to go downhill from there, when their group is allowed to tour a spooky old house due to a mysterious cancellation. Whilst inside the house, Ashlyn hears odd noises that she deems to be hallucinations, until something grabs her. Now, Ashlyn and her group are locked into a waking nightmare that they must get out of, or lose their sanity and their lives.
Thank you, Random House Children's Books | Ink Pop and NetGalley for the chance to read and review this graphic novel. I am a part of the Penguin Teen Influencer program but I can happily say I will also give my honest opinion and I honestly enjoyed this!
Oh this was dark and scary... I loved it!
The use of an auditory sense helping them know when those phantoms are coming was a new spin that I enjoy. So many subtle hints at a bigger twist and a bigger story. I'm here for this book and I will be continuing
This was creepy in all the right ways. I read Webtoons all the time, so I was surprised this hadn't caught my attention, but I'm glad I was able to get an ARC copy and read the first volume. I really liked the characters, who are numerous, and the art style. It's has a bit of a pacing problem since it jumps around too much in the timeline, making it a bit confusing, but I'm really enjoying the suspense of the story and the grit of the characters. A lot darker than I would expect for a YA series.
A comic unlike any other, School Bus Graveyard surprised me! It's quick, engaging, and accompanied by the most unexpected twists and turns that are sure to keep you reading. I read the webcomic edition on Webtoon.
School Bus Graveyard is exactly what it sounds like - Ashlyn and her classmates are stuck in an alternate dimension, haunted by the chilling phantoms of the realm, and are forced to take cover in abandoned school busses. With its action-packed plot and heavy subject, SBG is not just about survival, but also the bonds we form through trauma.
After its initial release on WEBTOON, I quickly read and loved this series. The characters are so well written and fleshed out. The story is creepy and mysterious, never giving away too much too soon. One of my favorite aspects is the complex relationships and friendships the author explores. I’m thrilled that it’s finally being published in print, and I can’t wait to see what Red has in store for us in the future.
AMAZINNNGGGG OHMIGOSH ITS AMAZING. The art style is soooo good andthe characters are so well thought out. I read it on webtoon, and its amazingggggg i binged the first season in a day its that good. like wow its amazing. Its not cliche or easy to predict at all, like i did NOT see anything coming but like in a good way. 11/10 101% recommend!! a little graphic in some intense scenes but the author gives warnings if needed at the start of every episode/chapter. :)
LOVE THE CHARACTERS, THE PLOT, THE ROMANCE, EVERYTHING it's thriller, sort of horror, found family, second dimension, with a subplot of romance. it's one of those things I think everyone can enjoy it's sooooo gooooodddddddddd definitely has crack in it the webtoon is hands down one of my favourites(expt for the slow updates and short chapters but wtvs😓)
Every character in the group is so likable it’s hard to pick a favorite! I even love Ashlyn parents! I love the dynamic in the group. I can’t wait to read the next ones and see how the group develops handling this scary situation
Has all the creepy vibes but not overly done and I love the art style 🙂↕️
Thank you to NetGalley & Random House Children’s Books | Ink Pop for the eARC!!
It has a very different vibe that I love, I've read it on webtoon season 1 and 2. The characters all have distinct personalities, talents and moral goals. It's a very interesting story and an original concept.
read on webtoon. every chance I got free time, whether in school, at home, or out, I read school bus graveyard. I finished both chapters on webtoon in less than a week. amazing story, would definitely recommend. 💖
