enemies to lovers sapphic romance in Vermont and coastal Maine during Fall and Christmas with "Stick Season" by Noah Kahn playing in the background.
After the end of a long-term relationship, Amelia leaves Germany to attend a university in Vermont for one semester looking for distraction. She gets in conflict with her introverted roommate Sage who seems to like animals more than people… but secretly likes her.
I loved seeing the growth in writing ability from her earlier books; you can really tell that she took the feedback on board from reviews!
What I loved the most about this one was how healthy the relationship was, the way that the girls communicated with each other and were a comfort. It was such a refreshing representation (at least from the books I've read) and ultimately, I'm left wanting more. At the point of writing this review, I'm unsure if there will be a second book but it does end on a sort of cliffhanger where it would work either way!
I would have loved for some of the side characters to developed a bit more and for the pacing to have slowed down in the second half.
Other than that, this was a lovely read and if you love a spicy moment, this is my favourite of Emely's! :))
