THE DEAD ARE RISING. THE PAPERWORK IS PROBABLY WORSE.
Renee has just been released from the hospital, and she’s about to start a new job working for Miss Lydia at the Mystery Spot Museum. There’s just one small she doesn’t remember applying for the position.
Her first assignment? Retrieve an ancient book capable of raising and controlling the dead.
Simple enough. What could possibly go wrong?
As Renee discovers, the supernatural world is anything but ordinary. Between unholy librarians, chatty assassins, undead operatives, and forces that threaten to turn an already bizarre situation into outright chaos, surviving her new job may be the least of her problems.
Welcome to a world where the dead have a purpose, the supernatural has an organizational structure, and even the most terrifying horrors can come with a healthy dose of bureaucratic absurdity.
With sharp wit, imaginative worldbuilding, and a delightfully offbeat take on the undead, Jeff Folschinsky delivers a supernatural adventure packed with dark humor, eccentric characters, and wonderfully weird surprises.
Clock in. Try not to die. And whatever you do, don’t lose the book.

What a blast of a horror-comedy! I was giggling from the get-go, especially during that initial zombie encounter. And the best part? I hadn't read the other books in the series, but I didn't feel lost - I devoured this one from start to finish. Give it a try, it's a real treat!
Thanks to Book Sirens for sending me an advanced copy to read and review
Great for fans of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Renee wakes up in a hospital bed remembering only that she had a conversation with some lady, and she has a ticket to a place that says on it, “Miss Lydia’s Mystery Spot Museum and Burrito Emporium—Admit One”. So she gets in a taxi to go meet the woman in person. She finds out that she has entered a place in between realities. And she has a job there. Penny is giving her some on the job training. Are you confused yet? Well Renee is too! This book reminds me of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, but without the galaxy, and more undead. It has a lot of humor, and quick dialogue which may or may not make more sense as you go along. Either way if you're a fan of this style of writing you will enjoy this book.
Travel between realities and raise the dead. What's not to laugh at? Great for fans of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
I am absolutely loving this horror/comedy series. This is the third book and, with the returning characters, loads of blood and gore, and spot on humor, these keep getting better all the time.
This one involves an army of the living dead being used for nefarious purposes by the Queen of an evil supernatural group. But these zombies are really effective and are easily swayed with bits of trivia. Then their heads explode and there's a lot of exploding heads in here!
But there's also the human characters who are going to find themselves involved and some background on a few events from the previous two books as well. While I implore you to absolutely read from the beginning, you could read as a standalone though you'll have much more fun by being caught up.
I always look forward to the next book and I'll be patiently awaiting the next. Maybe we'll get an omnibus version once the series end! Definitely get this one. I highly recommend it.
Zombies are in the loose and Penny and Renee must figure out how to close the nexus. With the help of a spirit guide known as Grandpa, and a whole lot of weird circumstances, they manage to unwittingly accomplish their task.
This story had me entertained from the beginning between the banter from our lead characters and the cliche villain. This is a fun short ride.
this was a strong third entry in the Mystery Spot and Burrito Emporium series, it had that overall concept and enjoyed how good the story was from the previous two books. It had that fantasy horror novel that I was wanting and enjoyed the overall feel of how the characters were used in this. Jeff Folschinsky was able to weave a strong storyline and cared about the characters and enjoyed the museum.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Such a fun read! It's perfect for anyone who loves the craziness of Douglas Adams combined with a bit of silly zombie fun. It's a short read but it packs in a lot into the pages and keeps you interested and keeps you laughing. Well worth a read
