Perfect for readers of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Succession, and emotionally charged literary
When I started this book, I wasn’t too sure, but I am so glad I read this book. It is exceptional in every way. This book is a gripping, multi-generational drama that blends corporate intrigue, family loyalty, and buried secrets into a high-stakes narrative. Set against the cutthroat backdrop of Silicon Valley, the novel follows three generations of Chen women whose lives are bound by ambition, betrayal, and the shadow of a suspicious death.
The story pulled me in very quickly with the “accident”. The emotional intimacy woven between boardroom battles and whispered conspiracies is exceptional. This book explores the cost of power — not just in money or influence, but in trust, love, and personal identity. The Chen women are complex and flawed, making them both relatable and unpredictable. The Silicon Valley setting feels authentic, with its mix of innovation, greed, and quiet ruthlessness.
