JESSICA

Breaking into the world of Formula 1 journalism is everything I've ever wanted, and my dream internship is my ticket in. I promised myself nothing would derail my career. Not the flashing cameras, not the adrenaline-fueled chaos, and definitely not Luke Hastings. F1’s golden boy is impossibly charming and dangerously persistent. I can't afford to fall for him, but resting the pull might be the hardest challenge yet.

LUKE

For me, life has always been train hard, race harder. Then Jessica Edwards crashes into my world, and suddenly everything feels different. She’s brilliant, fearless, and stubborn enough to keep me on my toes. She thinks getting involved with a driver will destroy her career, but what she doesn’t realize is that I never back down from a challenge. And proving we’re unstoppable together? That’s a race I intend to win.

fun addictive sport romance!

The race by Sam Whitelock is such a fun read with the perfect amount of romance, sport and character deph.
It gives enough refence to F1 and how the sport works that a non-follower of F1 should be able to know how it works and even learn a bit about the sport. As someone who grew up watching and following the sport i enjoyed the references and glimpse into behind the scene areas like the paddock.

The story follows the golden boy of F1 as he quite litterally runs into the girl of his dreams, who also happens to be an intern journalist that will cover the F1 season. Even though there is instant chemistry they get off on a rockey start after she calls him out, something that doesn't happen often.

They slowly fall in love and although there is some cheesy moments i swooned for each and every one as it fits the story perfectly. There is some uphill battels especially being in the public eye, some mistakes are made that leads to character growth and also some groveling- always a winner.
The banter and spice scence are great and we get a glimpse into the next books FMC that i am already looking forward to!
Highly recommend to give this book a read!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ romantic and full of heart

The Race brings together the glamour and danger of Formula 1 with a tender, passionate love story and it delivers beautifully. The dynamic between Jessica Edwards, a driven journalist trying to break into the F1 world and Luke Hastings, the talented but guarded “golden-boy” driver is electrifying. Their chemistry leaps off the page. The tension of deadlines, media scrutiny and racetracks heightens every emotional beat. The plot balances racing action and tender vulnerability, showing not just the flashy, adrenaline filled side of F1 but the personal stakes of ambition, trust and love.

For fans of sports romance (especially racing) or anyone who enjoys a strong willed heroine and a hero with depth, The Race is a delightful blend of passion, ambition and the thrill of the track. Highly recommended.

My first sports based story and I absolutely loved it!

Jessica's big break into F1 journalism was all she'd ever dreamed of but being in the paddock was so much more than she'd anticipated. Her love story (with a touch of spice and lots of banter) blooms and crashes, leaving heartbreak and anger in it's wake.

Happy ending? Maybe, maybe not, you'll need to read it and find out.

Ending is open for a book two or maybe a spin-off which would be brilliant!

Loved it

Loved it.
Well written and interesting. I remember watching F1 as a kid with family every Sunday and having that time together is always great. Now having a book about love in F1 is great as well as this sport is not the one usually people would write about.
