He brought her back from the brink of death, but can Lyra trust the demon prince?

Demons have invaded the mortal realm, spurred by the Dark King’s insatiable greed. His soldiers have been hunting Lyra, a witch with the power to shatter the veil between realms.

Swept away to a strange land, Lyra finds herself at the mercy of Kaden — the half-breed royal and Taker of Souls responsible for her mother’s death. He needs Lyra’s magic to defeat his father and stop the scourge ravaging his kingdom. But can Lyra trust the male who broke down her defenses, only to shatter her heart?

With her true power awakened, Lyra must take up her blade and turn it against the Dark King. But to vanquish the evil sweeping the realm, she’ll have to align herself with the one who betrayed her — the infamous demon prince himself.

A Prince of Death and Night is the sequel to the dark fantasy romance, A Blade of Blood and Shadow — perfect for fans of ACOTAR, Crowns of Nyaxia, and Quicksilver.

Ahhhhh another cliff hanger! I can’t stand it! But it was sooo good. This series has me seriously jonesing for the next book! I didnt see the ending coming and it slapped me in the face. Ugh.

Ok so I love Willow Bishop and I love this series. If you like all things Fae, demon, otherworldly, family drama, smug but ridiculously hot mmc’s and bada** mfc’s then this is your series!

So book 2 picks up where book one left off. Yes you have to read the first one otherwise this one won’t make sense. So go check out A Blade of Blood and Shadow before you read this one.

Our girl, Lyra wakes up in a strange place with the demon prince, she found out right before she almost died, was bending the truth. Kaden used his magic to bring her to the in between to try to heal Lyra after the horrible ending to book 1 where she get gravely injured trying to save her friend.

We get to meet new characters in this book, the royal guard Adriel, who is stoic and serious but faithful to his very bones. And Kaden’s sister Sorsha, who was raised in court to be a proper Princess but was exiled to Cragsmuir where she trained with warriors.

This story was an epic journey through dangerous forests with deadly creatures who invade your mind, terrorize your body and everything, even the trees are trying to kill you. There is no rest for the wicked.

The Dark King must be taken out for the power balance is to be restored and Lyra is the only one who can do it. But when the plan fails she is left holding herself and her emotions. Will she be able to bring him down or will Kaden pay the price for involving her in the first place?

The relationship between these two stay at a level 5 spice but she is fighting her body’s need for Kaden tooth and nail because of the lies and betrayal she feels. Man this was a crazy ride. I couldn’t put it down, but had to a few times because it got to be too much, but then would walk right back to it because I had to know what happened.

I highly recommend this series for all the ACOTAR fans this is right up your alley. So go check out book one the come back for more delicious banter with these two.

I haven’t read a book in a while that completely consumed me the way A Prince of Death and Night did. From the very first page, I was hooked by the dark, seductive world Willow Bishop created—full of deadly magic, ancient feuds, and impossible choices.

Prince Kaden is everything I crave in a morally grey MMC—powerful, brooding, and with just the right amount of tortured intensity. His chemistry with Lyra was perfection, and their tension kept me hooked. Lyra is fierce and resilient. I adored her strength, her loyalty, and the way she refuses to be a pawn in anyone’s game.

I loved the side characters. They added so much richness to the story. The worldbuilding was dark and immersive, with magic and betrayal seamlessly wooven into every chapter.

And that ending? Absolute chaos and heartbreaking. The cliffhanger left me reeling.I need the next book immediately. If you love high-stakes romantasy with demons, fae, witches, destiny, and the perfect mix of danger and desire, this one’s a must-read.

✨Arc Review✨

Thank you to the author Willow Bishop for sending me a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Willow Bishop returns to the darkly enchanting world of The Ravaged Kingdom with A Prince of Death and Night, a sequel that raises the stakes in every way. If the first book drew readers in with its moody atmosphere, slow-burn tension, and dangerous magic, the second delivers on that promise with even more urgency, deeper emotional stakes, and a heroine who has come into her own.

Picking up after the events of A Blade of Blood and Shadow, we follow Lyra, a witch whose power is no longer dormant — and no longer safe. Demons have spilled into the mortal realm, and with the veil between worlds weakening, Lyra finds herself hunted, isolated, and betrayed. Her unlikely protector? Kaden, the half-demon prince who saved her life but also shattered her trust — and her heart.

The dynamic between Lyra and Kaden continues to be a standout element. Their relationship is laced with tension, resentment, and longing, but it never veers into melodrama. Bishop excels at letting her characters wrestle with real emotional weight, making every stolen glance or hard-won moment of vulnerability feel earned. Their slow shift from mistrust back toward something resembling hope is gripping, especially with the revelation of Kaden’s role in Lyra’s past still hanging heavily between them.

One of the most satisfying elements of this sequel is Lyra’s evolution. No longer the hunted girl on the run, she becomes a warrior in her own right — wielding both her blade and her magic with a sense of purpose. Her inner conflict, as she decides whether or not to align herself with Kaden to defeat his tyrannical father, gives the story a sharp emotional core. The romance is dark and seductive, but it never overshadows Lyra’s journey toward autonomy and power.

The world-building deepens in this installment, especially as we’re swept into the demon realm and get a better look at the political and magical machinations at play. The lore is rich without being overwhelming, and the pacing stays tight — with just the right balance of action, intrigue, and smoldering romantic tension. Fans of ACOTAR and Crowns of Nyaxia will feel right at home in the morally gray, emotionally charged atmosphere.

So why 4 stars instead of 5? There are moments — particularly in the middle of the novel — where the pacing dips slightly, and a few plot developments feel a touch too convenient. Some side characters who had promising arcs are underutilized, and readers looking for more depth in the supporting cast may feel a bit short-changed. Still, these are minor quibbles in what is otherwise a powerful, immersive, and emotionally satisfying continuation.

Final Thoughts:

A Prince of Death and Night proves that Willow Bishop knows exactly what she’s doing — crafting lush, high-stakes romantasy with real heart. Lyra’s journey is fierce and empowering, Kaden is the kind of tortured love interest readers live for, and the world is as brutal as it is beautiful. If the first book hooked you, this one will leave you hungry for more.

This book….one word. FANTASTIC, AMAZING, WOW!

Okay that’s more than one word but anyway, this book! If you haven’t read the first book do it!! Have you read it? READ THIS ONE! It had the story, the tension, the spice, the chemistry. Oh my god these characters. But Willow! What you do to me!😩

I gave this book 5/5⭐️
I’d say spice in this one is a 🌶️🌶️.5/🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

This is the second book where we once again get to follow Kaden and Lyra, along with Adriel and Sorsha. They are on a journey to somehow save the realm and fight the tension that’s building between them. But it’s not quite as easy as it seems with creatures along the way and Kadens father trying to stop them. At the same time secrets are revealed that had stayed hidden and Lyra now is faced with an important decision. Will she give into the tension building between them or are there more secrets yet to be revealed?

This book ends on a cliffhanger ending and is not a HEA. It’s amazing story writing and Willow is one of my new favorite authors cause she deserves a prize for how good her writing is. No the prices deserve HER. Because her writing is so good, it’s one of those books you pick up and then can’t put it down again.

Thank you Willow for letting me ARC read this book. I will now suffer in silence until book 3. Help me......

I really liked how Adrial and Socha joined up with Kaden and Lyra on their journey. Loved the camaraderie between the four characters. This really helped to solidify the bond between Kayden and Lyra and also gave us the idea that maybe Adrienne likes Socha. It would be so cool if we could find out that she returns the same interest in the next book. We were finally introduced to Kayden’s father, you know, the evil one. Oh, I thought the idea of the three fates was very creative! So now I wonder how Lyra Adrial and hopefully Socha will be able to come up with an escape plan to help Kayden who is in his own father‘s prison. I also hope we won’t have to wait too long for the next book to find out. I’ll be looking forward to it!.

I didn’t think it was possible to love this series even more, since I absolutely adored the first book… but A Prince of Death and Night is even better!

We’re reunited with Lyra and Kaden, and this time there are even more surprising twists, betrayals, secrets, and raw emotions. Did I mention the twists? We also meet two new characters that I really loved: Sorsha and Adriel. They add even more depth to Kaden.

I went through the full range of emotions. The further the story goes, the more complex the relationship between Lyra and Kaden becomes. I got chills and teary-eyed when the truth about the death of someone close to Lyra was revealed—and I also shouted “I knew it!” when another secret came to light later in the story.

The cliffhanger is even more brutal than the one in the previous book. I honestly have no idea how I’m going to survive the wait for the next one!

Gah! Cliffhanger alert! 😫

Thank you Willow for including me in your ARC team! I'm enjoying all of these books! ❤️

This was book 2 in her dark fae romantacy series. I was on the edge of my seat with this one. I wanted to hate Kaden for Lyra's sake, but I knew there would be more answers!

I loved getting to ride along on their adventures. Between slaying monsters, the banter, and the "touch her and die" trope, I couldn't put it down. I loved getting to meet Kaden's sister and getting to know his royal guard more. I want more about these two!

I'm just a girl waiting for book 3! Probably not super patiently. 😅 But it's because of that cliffhanger!

This book! Enemies to lovers at its finest. Lyra, a witch/ huntress, hated Kaden a demon/fae, and he encouraged that hatred. She believed he killed her mother and her friend, and she wanted revenge. He needed her to help him save his kingdom and destroy his father, and he would do whatever he needed to get her help, even if that made her hate him more. Lyras' desire for revenge was strong, but her attraction to Kaden was stronger. She didn't understand the pull she had toward Kaden, but as truths were revealed, she could no longer fight that pull. Fate would tie them together, but his father would tear them apart. You will devour this book, and it will leave you wanting!

Not as good as the first book. I enjoyed the concept—faeries, demons, and hunters battling it out, but the execution wasn’t as strong. The MMC was the typical unrealistic A-type personality on one hand, and gentle and compassionate on the other. Not particularly unique but likable enough. The FMC, however, was more irritating. She was on an emotional roller coaster. I lost count of how many times she was rescued, only to turn around and resent the MMC five minutes later. Super annoying.

Still, I’m curious enough about the overall story to continue, so I’ll read the next book. Explicit scenes.

Not as good as the last one. Just didn’t make sense to me why Kaden would keep so much vital information to himself if he’s supposed to be a strategist. Trying to force her to help instead of convince her why it’s necessary? Not really believable for his character. Also can’t stand when the fmc is made out to be super flawed and the mmc is made out to be always on the right path. Also the little domination fan service when Kaden didn’t even warn her if the role she’d have to play as his concubine. Like she couldn’t get a heads up? Weird. Honestly not sure if I’ll read the last installment not feeling it right now.

Book two of The Ravaged Kingdom series, picks up where we left off from book one and doesn’t slow down. Lyra has awoken to the loss of her friend and in the presence of Kaden, who she’s not sure she can trust. Introductions to new characters and a few more threats round out this fantastic story. I only wish the next book was coming sooner, but I’m inclined to wait if it gets the answers to all my questions. This series just keeps getting better!.

****Thank you, Willow Bishop, for giving me an eARC and having me as part of your street team in exchange for an honest review****

This is a great follow-up to the first book! I enjoyed the tension between Lyra and Kaden and the spice! 🥵 I also liked the potential side romance between Adriel and Sorsha. I don't know if we will see more of it in book three or maybe have a novella of them?

The world building in this book and the descriptions are really well done.

That ending! I did see it coming, but it did happen a bit differently than I thought it would. I can't wait for book three!

Just when I thought Kaden couldn't get any more swoon-worthy, BAM! Willow Bishop hits me with this book! Not only did she have all the best tropes, but each trope was done to absolute perfection. One Bed? Amazing! One Horse? Incredible! Touch Her And 💀? Divine!
I once again will be on pins and needles waiting for Bishop to bestow upon me some more of her incredible work. ❤️

So good! You get steamy scenes and action! While it was slow going at first, it picked up speed and had me on the edge of my seat. While predictable it was still good. The tension between the main characters was perfect and I liked the found family aspect. I also like that the FMC is still strong despite being out of her depth. Can’t wait for book 3!

it felt like a seamless continuation from book one, same vibes. Definitely more action in this one. The story gets more involved and there are more twists so I'm more invested now.
