A Love Worth Fighting For -
Zach immediately went into protective mode the moment his best friend’s told him his younger sister had a stalker, but he knew he was in big trouble the moment he laid eyes on her. Skyler had been crushing on Zach for years and had finally given up, so she wasn’t really happy about having Zach staying with her, so she tried everything possible to make him leave. Even though Zach tried to maintain a professional distance with Skyler, an incident occurred that set him off and led to him making an unplanned statement.
Although Zach’s attraction for Skyler grew the more time he spent with her, he tried his best to keep him hands off her until he had spoken to his best friend about his feelings and intentions. Things get more complicated between Zach and Skyler when they have to share a room on a trip, as he breaks his vow to not cross the boundaries with her until he had spoken to his best friend. Not long after Zach and Skyler settled into their relationship, chaos ensued when she met guard down and led to a near fatal incident, but he was able to swiftly deal with the matter.
Unfortunately, Zach felt guilty for not keeping Skyler safe after she was hurt during the incident and the memories from his past trauma during the war led to a situation, that caused friction between them. Luckily, Skyler’s brother returned from his mission and gave Zach the kick up the backside he needed to get his act together. Nevertheless, after careful consideration of everything, Zach found the courage he needed to seek Skyker’s forgiveness and get them back on track towards the future they wanted.
I really enjoyed reading this captivating romance story, that drew me in from the beginning and kept me eagerly turning the pages. If you are looking for your next exciting, suspense-filled romance story to read, then grab a copy of this book now and you will not regret your decision.

Zach And Skyler
First off, can we have more guys like Zach in this world. He fell hard for his best friend’s sister. Skyler has a stalker and needed someone to protect her. Zach was more than happy to help her. Definitely a great read and I would recommend this book to everyone who needs a new book to read. Hope Ford deserves more than five stars for this book.

Zach and Skyler, their story is….it’s everything I like in a romance. They knew each other when Skyler was young and she would tell her brothers she was going to marry Zach. Fast forward ten years and he is called in to protect her from a stalker.

Suffice to say this story is emotional, has cooking demonstrations, strong characters, family and then there’s the spice, it’s hot!

I couldn't resist wanting to read this book!
With the release of THE HERO I CAN'T RESIST, Author Hope Ford has added to her Whiskey Run series with this first book in her ‘Brodys of Whiskey Run' series and I enjoyed it every bit as much as the others of hers that I have read. This time we met Skyler Brody and her five uber-protective brothers.
Sky is a baking influencer and her brothers think it's some kind of hobby. Not so, her beautiful personality, her baking creativeness and her bubbly live-on-screen presence had people flocking to her social media channel in droves. She was a successful young woman. Unfortunately she now also had a stalker and Logan, one of the brothers wanted to give his business partner Zach, the task of protecting her while he was off on a job of his own. Complication; Zach was Sky's childhood crush.
He had been her childhood crush for years, to the point where she'd been obsessed and cheerfully announcing to all that she was going to marry him, while he was a man in his 20's and not really paying too much attention to her. Having not seen her for years, he couldn't believe the grown beauty of her or the effect that she had on him. The insta-attraction and love was all on his side whereas he had driven Sky crazy for years.
The tropes I love in THE HERO I CAN'T RESIST really made this story amazing. I do like the idea that he fell first into true love and fell harder, that there was an age-gap, and that the alpha-protectiveness was HOT and OTT. That I loved! There's a couple of others I'd like to throw in here, but I feel it's better for you to love it as the story unfolds – sometimes too much information is not a good thing!!!
Watching them absolutely love each other's company while they learned about each other as adults was the very definition of romance. To include Sky's affirmation to Zach that her feelings for him now are completely different from those she felt as a child is the sort of thing that adds layers and depths to the arc of a developing relationship and we also found out about Zach's own vulnerability and internal struggles that he carried. His survivors’ guilt from a past mission gone wrong where he'd been the only one to escape unharmed was extreme and one reviewer mentioned that his other surviving teammates all carried that damage into Ms Hope’s ‘Whiskey Men: Wounded Heroes' series. I'll be checking those books out for sure!!!
There's only one thing I struggled with in the best-friends sister trope and that's the overprotectiveness of brothers who treat their sister like she's still a kid. It speaks of disrespect, and in THE HERO I CAN'T RESIST, it irked me, but I'm thinking that when it will get focussed in the right direction towards the women they love in the upcoming books, suddenly that protective alpha will be romantic as all hell and I'll be all over it!!!
I was somewhat also irritated for a bit in a small area of this book and was ready to think that I knew where the plot was headed and TBH, I was preparing myself for disappointment, but I WAS WRONG! In wanting the best future for Sky, Zach got into his own head as emotionally damaged heroes are wont to do, but Ms Hope gladdened my sullen romantic heart and has also seriously geared me up to be ready for a second-chance romance in what I hope will be her next book in the Brodys Series. Those five overprotective brothers that we met in this book, well now it's their turn – and I'm here for it. 4.5-Overprotective-Alphahole-sugar-kissed-Stars 🍰❤️✰•

Seeing Skyler in the flesh proves far harder to resist than seeing her through his cellphone screen. Zach swears he’ll keep things professional, right up until a weekend trip, one shared room, and one undeniable spark makes that promise impossible to keep. Suddenly, Skyler’s long-ago wishes aren’t so far-fetched after all. However, while Skyler is a confident young woman with a huge following on her online baking show, she struggles to accept that a man like Zach could be interested in someone like her. Zach’s best friend and business partner, Logan, as well as his four other brothers are extremely overprotective of their sister, Skyler. Since Logan is going away on assignment, and they (Z & Logan) are opening up their own biz, Stronghold, Zach is talked into watching over Sky, because she is online making money from her baking and she is being stalked. Things have progressed even further than her brothers know. Sky has always followed after her brothers, especially Logan & Zach, because she has had a crush on Zach for forever. Her brothers teased her to the point that she blew up at them. So when Logan tells her, that section of the book is both hilarious and upsetting. The eldest brother, Miller is rich, so he is putting up the money for the job. Zach doesn’t want the money, which Logan knew, but wait until you see what happened there. I laughed so hard. Zach has a sister too, Abby. I also laughed at Zach’s nickname, Fabio. I haven’t heard that in ages. lol. But, things aren’t all fun and games in the book because there is a stalker, and things progress to oh (curse words here). I found Skyler’s online presence and how she represents herself and her cooking to be awesome, and I wish I could bake. (Only about half of my baking comes out edible. *sigh*).
I love how Zach handles things from there on out. Until later on, when I wanted to smack him. You’ll see why, I’m not spoiling anything, lol. A tender, heart‑pounding romance I couldn’t put down
This book swept me up from the very first page and held me gently, fiercely, all the way through. Hope Ford has this beautiful way of writing that feels like sitting down with a friend who knows your heart... someone who understands longing, healing, and the quiet bravery it takes to love again.
Skylar and Zach… goodness, I adored them. Their story felt like watching two souls recognize something familiar in each other... something they didn’t even know they were missing. Skylar’s strength wrapped in vulnerability, Zach’s steady devotion beneath all that protective grit… the way they collided and softened and grew together made my heart ache in the best way.
There’s a sweetness here, but also a depth... a reminder that love can be both refuge and revelation. That sometimes the hero we can’t resist isn’t the one who swoops in with grand gestures, but the one who shows up with consistency, tenderness, and truth.

This is an awesome read!! It wasn’t too terribly long but still, Zach MADE the book. He was the best kind of MMC, in my opinion; falling first and falling HARD…obsessed, possessive and protective, he was all that and a bag of chips. In addition to all the steam, it’s super sweet too, and I loved it, but it’s not ALL about the sweetness. He had a deliciously filthy mouth but Zach was also all cinnamon roll-y and so tender with Skyler that I couldn’t even fault him for his third act doubts.
For readers who love high heat romances and men who are utterly and completely wrapped up in their woman, willing to do anything for her, this book is a must read. I think Logan’s (Skyler’s brother and Zach’s best friend) book may be next and if it’s even HALF as good as this one, it’s gonna be amazing and not to be missed. For Zach and Skyler though, 5 stars.

I've been a fan of Hope Ford's work for years. There is no denying the woman knows how to write a good instalove.
The difference here is how immersive it was. I felt like I was in Whiskey Run with the characters. It had been a while since I'd read in this world, and yet I wasn't confused one bit. This is a book you can pick up even if you haven't read all the others.
Our FMC is a curvy and cute baker with a big social media following. When her protective brothers find out she has a stalker, they decide to intervene by hiring their friend -- who is also her long time crush.
Our MMC is CAPTIVATED from the minute he sees the FMC. It's been years and he can't deny she grew up to be his dream woman. He's like a golden retriever in how eager he is to get to her. I loved it.
As for the plot, I enjoyed it. There was suspense, though nothing too dark. The side characters and family were great. I can't wait to read the next book in this world. I'm so SOOOOO happy it comes out soon.
If you've never read a Hope book, then you should start. This one is a great choice. And if you have, then buckle up for more of that sweet, steamy instalove goodness.

The Hero I Cannot Resist by Hope Ford is first in the Brodys of Whiskey Run. Hope adds another new series to her multi-layered world of Whiskey Run 🥃🎉 (Fun as Hope weaves in tidbits & cameos from her other stories into each of her new ones. 🥰 I really enjoy how she does that!) Zach is best friends to Skyler's older brothers. He is in partnership with said older brothers of the new protection agency Stronghold Security of Whiskey Run. Skyler tapes her cooking shows from home, she is immensely talented & popular and has gotten a creepy stalker. This is a close proximity, ägë-gäp (10 years), some danger, protector bodyguard romance. Even though Zach & Skyler have a limited shared history, it is not until 35% in - do they share their first kiss. It has an unfortunate 3rd act mini breakup (done & resolved in one day). Not happy with the 3rd act breakup, it could have been handled with some long convos between them - talking it out like adults. Both of them had some extreme mood swings (my opinion - a bit childish) that took away from their story. HEA and future epilogue.

*spoilers* Skyler declared that she is going to marry Zach one day, she was a tomboy and a kid for him, he was freinds with her brothers. Now she is 25 and her overprotective brothers send Zach to be her live in bodyguard. He has a start up business with her brother Logan, but he is going on an important mission and only trusts Zach. Sky makes very succesful baking videos and earns her money with it, but that attracted the stalker. She has pushed away her feelings for him, but they come back strong when she sees the handsome man and somehow he seems to want her too and really takes her serious, unlike her brothers. Zach knows he wans Sky as soon as he sees her he knows the ten year age gap and being best friends with her brother should hold him back from wanting her, but she is his. But he has demons from his past. Will he stand strong with her brothers and survive being with their baby sister, will he catch her stalker and overcome the demons from his past, which lead him in thinking he is not good enough for her.

I love a good bodyguard romance! Add in tropes of troubled/protective ex military man, brothers best friend, childhood crush, forced proximity, one bed and so many more and you’ve got a hit! This one had so many real emotions and I loved how they were all navigated in a real way. Zach knew what he wanted, and he was all in immediately with Skyler, even taking on her brothers. The fact he didn’t keep her a secret even for a second, even before she knew what they were, was perfection. Skyler was so understanding with him, truly listening to him when he pushed her away and the reasoning for it. Her brothers were awesome and gave such good advice, loving her enough to want her happy. No cheating or OM/OW drama, virgin FMC, dual POV, small third act breakup, HEA and 2 epilogues in the future. Such a great start to a series and I can’t wait to read Logan and Bree’s and Penn and Aria’s stories!

This brother's best friend protector story gives nicely placed stalker suspense elements. We have Zach, a protector who falls fast and tries to hide it, who runs hot and cold, determined to protect Sky, his best friend and business partner's baby sister. We also have Sky. Sweet, determined, cautious doing her own thing standing strong but maybe with her head just a little bit in the sand. They butt heads in the cutest way over how to handle the issues. I want more communication from Zach about his feelings and the stalker and more clear communication about his feelings and intentions. I love how Sky's brothers all love and protect her and her sister in law Aria is a protector too. I need more about Aria and her husband, Sky's brother. The third act break up is cleared up pretty quick and easy and I like that, too. 3.5 stars.

When she finds her self being stalked by a crazy obsessed fan from her online baking show her childhood crush is the one tasked with being bodyguard. It is an insta want/love but they did have an established relationship Zach being her brothers best friend and she had a big crush on him when she was younger. It does start at her being 25 so we don’t get the history really but I don’t think I would call it insta necessarily. This was a quick easy read with some angst between the two of them from Zach’s past and his feelings of inadequacy. I think my favorite part was the epilogue.

This is the first book in The Brodys of Whiskey Run series, where Skylar, a popular baker, is being stalked by a creepy fan. With her brother away on a mission, he hires Zach, his best friend, to protect Skylar. The chemistry between Zach and Skylar is instant, and when Zach claims her as his girlfriend during a live stream to shut down her stalker, their romance kicks into high gear.
I really enjoyed the dynamic between Zach and Skylar in The Hero I Can’t Resist. They were so sweet together, and I especially loved how Zach took a genuine interest in Skylar's baking. It was heartwarming to see that side of him. While I adored their chemistry, I couldn't give the book a full 5 stars because I’m not a fan of the "I can’t be with you to protect you" or "I’m not good enough for you" trope, which was a bit of a turn-off for me.

This is book number 1 of The Brodys of Whiskey Run and focuses on Zach and Skylar. Skylar grew up with Zach since he is her brother’s best friend. She had always had a big crush on him but it was never reciprocated when she was younger. When her online baking show brings Skylar an unwanted stalker, Zach is tasked with keeping her safe. After seeing the woman Skylar grew to be, Zach immediately knows that she is his. They had quite a bit of navigating to do when it comes to their relationship, but ultimately Zach knew that Skylar was the one for him and did everything that he could to not only keep her safe but to also love her the way she deserved. This was a great story and a great start to the series.

The Hero I Can’t Resist is simply magnificent! I really needed this heartful and beautiful love story in my life. Zach is clearly harboring some self-loathing over his traumatic past, and Skyler—sweet Skyler—is a strong and beautiful person who has her own insecurities. I LOVE these two for each other, and the way Zach prioritizes her in every way is so beautiful. The underlying drama that throws them together is brilliantly woven into this delicious love story. And their families! My gosh, I adored every one of them and hope we get each of their stories as well. Author Hope Ford has delivered an engaging and charismatic tale that had me swooning and crying and smiling all at the same time. Loved it!

This was a 5 stars read for me. I couldn't get enough of Skylar and Zach. One of my favorite tropes is brother's best friend. I've been waiting for Zach's story after reading about him on his sister's book. Skylar was sweet and all she wants to do is share her love of baking with her fans when she acquired a stalker. Zach may have been asked by her brother to protect her but he was determined she was going to be his. I was rooting for Skylar and Zach from the beginning. Wanted to shake Zach a few times. That's the beauty of Hope Ford's books. You get so invested with the characters that you start to feel the emotions of the characters. Absolutely loved it.

The Hero I Can't Resist is the first book in The Brodys of Whiskey Run series, which is a spin-off of the author's other Whiskey Run series. The Brodys are a family that is going to a lot of fun to read about. This story finds Skyler, a baking influencer, with a bit of a problem as there is a stalker. Her older brother decides the way to keep her safe is to give her a bodyguard. The thing is that the bodyguard is not just anybody....nope it is his best friend Zach. Zach has also been Sky's not so little crush since she was a young girl. Now they are going to be in close together and that will kick off a lot of complications, along with kick up a lot of sizzling passions and smexy romance. I loved this book and can't wait to read the next in the series.

I loved this story by Hope Ford. I love the worlds that she creates. I couldn't put this one down. I love reading about Zach and Skylar. Skylar has a stalker from her online baking show and Zach was called in as a favor. They have known each other for years. He is her brother's friend. Zach and Skylar had a lot of chemistry. When he declares himself as her boyfriend on a live stream, things get complicated fast for Skylar. While she is scared of the stalker, she is more scared of her feelings of Zach and this fake relationship. Will this be their chance to see if their fake relationship into something real?
