Chicago Sapphics #4

Feasting For Thanks

Rate this book
Chicagoland Sees Busy Thanksgiving Roads, and Maybe a Second Chance Along the Way!

Melody Wells, co-owner and operator of Richter & Wells Security, is stuck between a rock and a tough place.

Rather, she was until she waved a white flag.

With a private truce called six months ago, we thought we saw the last of it. However, our sources state that was only the beginning.

Understandably, ex-girlfriend Josephine Richter has her reservations about the newly formed alliance and their upcoming road trip.

As hesitant as she may be—curious minds inquire if there's more packed in this car than simply baggage. But love without a little mess makes for a drama-free Thanksgiving exposé.

And everyone knows there's no such thing, especially when you're feasting for thanks.

There was definitely chemistry between Melody and Josephine. The spice was well written, the romance was adorable and there was emotion in every character. I love big families and the union and family love was very present in the story. I struggled for a second to remember which sister’s partner was whom but I caught up pretty quickly so even if you haven’t read the previous books, you can keep up.

This is the first book I’m reading from H.B. Fluffy. I love second chances, I love yearning, and I love angst. If you’re like me then definitely read Feasting for Thanks because it has all three and more. I’m running to pick up the rest of the series and I’m impatiently waiting for the fifth book coming out New Year’s Eve.

Thank you to H.B. Cliffy for providing me with an eARC.

This e-ARC was sent to me by the author. This is my honest opinion.

I know it’s a novella, but I couldn’t really connect with the characters. I didn’t know this was book 3 in a series, so it probably affected my reading.

I didn’t really like that they decided not to date properly and take their time. I think it was necessary, given that they spent a decade not dating.

Eleven years is a long time to yearn for what your heart wants in Feasting For Thanks.

Josephine is a bit apprehensive about Thanksgiving. The annual family holiday always means spending time around the woman who owns her heart - but left it broken eleven years ago. This year?? Everyone knows Jo had a secret fling with her older sister’s best friend…including her sister.

Melody is determined this year. Things have been awkward with Jo, and comms have gone silent with her best friend Izzy. But Melody is done pretending and intends to make sure all three relationships are repaired by the end of the holiday.

Filled with tears and tension, love and laughter, this sapphic novella is a breath of fresh air. While can be read alone, it is part of a series focused on Jo and her sisters and the beginning will make more sense in context.

This open door romance is mostly trigger free. It does deal with strained family relationships during the holidays, and a tiny bit of overheard/misunderstood drama.

With one sister left before the series is complete, this is a perfect time to jump on board and enjoy the Chicago Sapphics books. I highly recommend it for fans of sapphic romances.

Duel 1st Person POV. 4🌟 3🌶️. 172 pages

Feasting for Thanks is the fourth book in the Chicago Sapphics series. A series of standalone, yet loosely interconnected novellas that each follow 1 of 5 sisters as they fall in love.

Book 4 follows Melody the bff of the oldest Richter sister and Josephine the second oldest Richter sister, as they rekindle a secret love that ended 11 years prior.

Feasting for Thanks is a second chance, older sisters bff story, with yearning and pinning, healing from past heartbreak, mending a friendship, family hijinks and a lower dosing of spice than the previous 3 books.

The 4th book has been my least favourite so far and not for any other reason than I typically don’t do well with second chance romances, I find them terribly cliché. That being said this book is still damn good and changed my mind a little on the genre.

If you like quick burn, high heat, short stories, then I would definitely recommend the Chicago Sapphics series as a whole.

Must read if you LOVE:
✨Holiday Romance
✨Second Chance Romance
✨11 Years of Heartbreak
✨Lovers to “Friends” to Lovers
✨Yearning / Pinning
✨Fast Burn
✨Overprotective Sisters
✨Family Hijinks and Fun
✨Sexual Tension
✨Medium Dose of Spice

ARC review. Melody is in a mess. She secretly dated Josephine, her best friends little sister—and then she broke Jo’s heart. Can one chaotic week in a holiday cabin heal wounds and set the two back together again?

The pinging. The longing. The REGRET. If you love a good second chance, this is one you don’t want to miss. The author does a great job of showing the lingering memories that ties two people together; the tender moments or small flashes of consideration that two people deeply in love experience. A love that was thrown away out of fear. Jo is fiery and forceful in her own way and aims to calm the tension by cutting through the bs. She’s coming back to herself after being muted by her pain for so long. Mel is filled with regrets about how things ended between them, and is wanting to stop running from her feelings. Both women have grown since college, but it is enough to try again? The book keeps from getting too heavy, thanks especially to the moms bringing the comic relief, and using their meddling powers for good. If you need a story with all the loving chaos of a holiday gathering, this is one worth picking up.

“I am thankful for time,” she starts. “For second chances and this wild, chaotic, deeply loving family. For friends who turned into forever people. For laughter and the hard conversations that no one wants to have, but they have them anyway. For orange gummy bears, long road trips, and lazy Sundays….”
One of my favorite quotes from this book! I’m normally a sucker for the Christmas romances but this one had me feeling the feels just in time for Thanksgiving and I’m not mad about it. Mel and Jo are everything. Chaotic, messy, stubborn, funny, flirty, loud but quiet, and most of all perfect for each other!
Regardless how much time passed, they would have ended up where they did no matter what! The universe could have kept them apart permanently but I love the way they had the yearly meet ups to remind them of what they felt for each other even if they never say anything throughout all those years!
It was a quick, short read but had me feeling what a 400 page book can make me feel! Great job! Definitely would recommend!

I have absolutely LOVED reading this series, I’ve said it at least three times before, and this is honestly my favorite out of the series. As soon as I read the tension in Carnations and Commitments between Mel and Jo I was STOKED that they were next, and this story did not disappoint! The second chance has become one of my favorite tropes, despite myself, and the added family dynamics of it just added a little extra to it. I can’t say I haven’t been in a position similar myself, or that my family/friend group has been watching someone like this and it always feels so good when it works out, especially when they are so perfect like these two are! And the spice? Perfection. I haven’t been into some of the things in some of the girl’s stories, but I mean, we’re talking about ten individuals here. We’re bound to disagree on some things. These two, though? Chef’s kiss. Thank you, again, to HB for allowing me to be on your team and hype this series!!

I just finished this book, and for my first time reading this author, I was pleasantly surprised. I genuinely enjoyed getting to know the characters they were easy to follow, easy to care for, and honestly, easy to love. I found myself feeling what they were feeling, which made the story that much more engaging.

The pacing was fast without feeling rushed. It kept me moving, never dragging or lingering too long, and I appreciated that. The spice was present but balanced not too heavy, just enough to add to the story.

I’ll admit, Izzy got on my nerves at first, but the more I understood her, the more I rooted for her. By the end, I had truly fallen in love with every character in their own way.

Overall, it was a great read for me enjoyable, heartfelt, and compelling. I’m definitely excited to pick up more books from this author.

I just loved Feasting for Thanks! This fun, heartwarming second-chance romance has a twist, and the chemistry between Josephine and Melody is off the charts — you can feel the tension and sparks in every interaction.

Set around a hectic Thanksgiving, the story is messy, emotional, and totally entertaining. Mel and Josie have history and unresolved feelings, and watching them navigate it while stuck in a house together is both hilarious and swoon-worthy.

Their emotions feel so real — messy, funny, and heartfelt — and I couldn’t stop turning pages to see if they’d figure it out. If you love second-chance romances with sizzling chemistry and holiday chaos, this book is a treat. I can’t recommend it enough!

Happy Thanksgiving!

This one brings us a little Thanksgiving treat!

This novella is a dual POV in the first person, all about second chances. As we read through the spiciest Mother’s Day I’ve experienced we learned a little bit about Melody and Josephine’s history. This book picks up 11 years after their break-up. 11, 😩!

I think this one is my favourite so far but I seem to be a sucker for second chances. Melody and Josephine are both charming in their own way and it’s hard not to root for them.

The is some spice mixed in but she’s a forced proximity setting so I suspect this may be why the gals didn’t go buck wild like Claire and Dawn did.

Catch you at New Years for the last one in this series! 🤙

ARC Review 4th story in the Chicago Sapphics series; novella
Antecdotal thoughts while reading
Josephine and Melody are no longer together. Are still in a business together? Was the business with Izzy instead? I'm confused.
Josephine still holds a flame for Melody after 11 years since the breakup. Unbeknownst to Josephine, Melody still does as well.
The breakup caused a riff between best friends as well? What happened with Izzy? All the sisters and friends picking sides.... that's a lot.
Grudge anyone???
"Ovary up" love it!
Good job with clearing the air Izzy.
Josephine and Melody - great job being honest and having open communication.

ARC Review!!

To start off with, this is my first sapphic romance book!
Ive read MM, MFMM, FFM, but this is the first solely FF book that I’ve read!

And it did not disappoint!!

It was a good quick read for me.
I love a second chance romance book!

I’ll be honest I was slightly confused at first. I didn’t realize there were other interconnected standalone books before this one. Thankfully things were explained where I didn’t feel so lost.

I loved all the characters despite it taking me awhile to remember who where sisters and who weren’t 😂

Overall a cute second chance sapphic romance! 🖤

ARC Reader

It was nice to get back to the Richter sisters. I did find the second chance story heartwarming. I cannot wait to see where Izzy's story takes us.

I did find the beginning a little confusing, but this could be because it has been months since I was in this world, having finished the book before this months ago. I remembered that there was drama with Melody and Josephine, but I forgot a few of the smaller details over time.

Overall, it's a great next book in series.

This is a great quick read! I was invested from the beginning and enjoyed how there wasn’t a lot of needless storylines that dragged it on. A great read that takes place during thanksgiving!
