Tracy grew up in Berkshire as part of a large and noisy family. She now lives in a small village in Surrey with her motorbike-loving partner and her little rescue dog, Poppy. Prior to becoming an author, Tracy worked for the charity Citizens Advice for over twenty-five years. She held various different roles in her time there, including advising prisoners, representing clients in the County Court, and managing a local office. She worked with an amazing group of volunteers, who gave up their time freely to help their community. She also found it a great avenue for ‘people-watching’, something that as a writer, provided endless inspiration for character development and story ideas.

Since the age of eleven, Tracy has been actively involved in amateur dramatics and she’s acted in many productions, written sketches, and directed shows. Her first role was in Aladdin. She played a jewel in the genie’s cave and was told to ‘stand there and sparkle’ – not exactly taxing stuff. While most teenagers spent their free time obsessing with fashion, make-up, pop music and boys, Tracy would often be found prancing around the stage pretending to be Miss Muffet, Bessie the Milkmaid, and her personal favourite, Aurora the Goose. Adulthood brought with it more serious roles, such as Nora in The Dolls House and Maggie in Hobson’s Choice. She’s also played Viola in Twelfth Night and Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Her favourite role was Geraldine Granger in The Vicar of Dibley.

Tracy started writing in her late twenties, song lyrics, sketches for pantomimes, before discovering her love for novel writing. Over the years she’s written numerous short stories, a number of which have been published in My Weekly magazine. She’s also been short-listed for several writing competitions, and won 1st prize in the Southern Daily Echo Feature Article competition. In 2024, Tracy’s novel Only For Christmas won the prestigious RNA Festive/Holiday Award.

Tracy describes her writing style as modern tales of romance, with engaging quirky characters, who overcome adversity, grow as people, and conclude in a satisfying optimistic ending.

Sometimes a story comes along and whisks you away to a completely different place and “Only for Christmas” did that for me - a feel good festive getaway that felt like watching a homely Hallmark movie with adorable characters and a fun, sweet and light hearted storyline to merry the time away…

The author Tracy Corbett included into the heart-warming story a theme of misogyny and work place harassment to keep the story up to date and realistic. This was handled in a tongue in cheek manner though, in order to ovoid making it over serious but still showing Sarah’s vulnerability to it.

Although Sarah will have you shaking your head in frustration, it’s totally understandable that she was keeping her distance from romance and all things Christmas, especially once you learn the reasons for her recent emotional turmoil. Lucas, the hot new neighbour and doctor at the hospital she works at, becomes her reluctant fake dates but his adorable American accent, professional manner and gentlemanly charm, would have anyone weak at the knees and I enjoyed how his actions started to break down her and her elderly neighbours defences.

I did originally aim to give this book four stars but since finishing the book and finding that I’m still thinking about it, I’ve changed my rating to five.

Tracy Corbett - Only For Christmas.

What’s not to love about a fake dating, festive tale?
Tracy Corbett has captured all the feels of the season perfectly.
The star of the show is Lucas. He’s just lovely. Who wouldn’t want to date him, fake or otherwise?
Sarah was a little more frustrating, but I grew to like her.

There was a darker sub plot running through this book. Tracy Corbett took this to the right level. It had it’s impact, but didn’t drag the feel good factor of the story down.

Over all, a very enjoyable, feel good, festive read.
#OnlyForChristmas ticks all the boxes for Christmas romcom lovers and Hallmark fans.

This is an entertaining read which has all the flavours of the festive season, with a touch of humour, but beneath the surface, some darker themes of coercive behaviour and bullying. Sarah has tried to protect her heart by shutting herself off from the possibility of romance but you sense that she is a vulnerable and lonely character despite the veneer she presents to the world. I particularly liked the humour, found in her adopted dog, Fred, and also through the reactions of Lucas' nephews. You also meet Sarah's neighbour, an old lady who is also lonely and vulnerable but who covers it up with bluster.

Lucas emerges as a kind and generous character, with a sense of family ties. Utterly dependable, you recognise that he is just what Sarah needs. Her work colleagues can see this as well. As the fake dating arrangement evolves, you see Sarah and Lucas' friendship blossom. Lucas, as an American in London, sees the country and the Christmas customs through an outsider's eyes which lends itself to the story. If you are looking for a light romcom with a festive touch, you will enjoy this romance.

In short: festive romance with likeable characters

Diana Kelsey everybody 👏👏👏 It's amazing older women like her that made me want to be a social worker and doctor in the first place. What a legend. I loved her. In fact, I even teared up at some of her and Lucas' interactions (where was she in the Epilogue??)

But now for the bit you've all been waiting for, the love story. And my gosh was this a powerful one. Lucas is the dream and if they hadn't got the ending they deserved, I would have been fuming. This was fake dating but in a completely different scenario than anything I've read before.

This book made me feel all the emotions. It's set across the whole of December and the title is slightly deceiving (but also a clever play on words) as it wasn't THAT Christmassy so you absolutely could and should read it now.

This is the first book I've read by this Author but I've added all of Tracy's backlist to my wishlist because I absolutely adored her writing and I know I'm going to love the rest of her books.

While there were some Christmas elements to this book, I think the holiday vibes took a backseat to Sarah's baggage, fear of moving on, and Stephen, her misogynistic boss who probably has an astounding number of harassment in the workplace cases outstanding. As someone who isn't a fan of over-the-top drama, this book just wasn't my favorite.

I loved the element of fake dating between Sarah and Lucas and how it originally came to be, but after awhile the actions of Stephen just became too much and made it hard for me to enjoy the overall story. I also found it really hard to root for Sarah as her insecurities and self-deprecation became annoying and tiring. With that said, Lucas was perfect and I found that it was him and Fred that kept me pushing through to the end.

Thank you so much to NetGalley for this advanced copy!

I love Christmas romance, especially fake dating. This one just wasn’t for me.

I didn’t know this would be 3rd person perspective and I just can’t connect to the story as well. The FMC has a superior at work that is very obviously harassing her, but she does nothing to report him. She fake dates the American FMC to keep her boss away. Of course, this doesn’t work. He gets worse.

The MMC was a sweetheart and made her love Christmas again. However, as an American, I think the author wasn’t up on her American lingo. A lot of what he said sounded very European/British. Not an issue, but it made his history less believable.

This was such a cute read. I must say, this book was a rollercoaster of emotions. I went from “aww this is so cute” to “IF I GET MY HANDS ON THAT BASTARD” and lastly “nooo not heartbreak😩”

Sarah got one big trauma from her past and she holds onto that trauma until Lucas Moore arrives, ready to save the day. I lowkey wish I could have myself a man that is so considerate, loving, fun, protective and patient as Lucas Moore?

All the characters were so much fun, special shoutout to mrs. Kelsey. Old grumpy downstairs neighbor was always such a treat to read about. And I still stand by my opinion on Stephen… that he should never be aloud to walk freely…

Cute Christmas book, squeezed my heart and made me cry sometimes. I enjoyed it regardless.

Reading ‘Only for Christmas’ by Tracey Corbett felt like watching a hallmark Christmas movie or watching a romcom! 🎄

This book takes place during the holiday season in London. Sarah, an HR manager, meets Lucas, an American doctor who will be working at the same hospital only for a month. He also happens to be her new neighbor who she ends up fake dating.

Although there’s harassment in the storyline, I still think it was a cute read, but I just wish it wasn’t included. Personally I just think it wasn’t necessary but I still loved the rest of the storyline.

This book had me kicking my feet at times!! Definitely loved the sunny/grumpy and the fake dating tropes 🩷😩

I did not expect to like it as much as I did but it was actually really good. Lucas is such a gentleman and he really cares about Sarah.

I loved the whole story of fake dating, it really drew me into the story more and I wanted to see where their relationship would end up.

The perfect book considering it’s Christmas Day tomorrow 🎄

A very cute and enjoyable read. Could have done without the antics from Stephen bringing the tone down, but I understand why they were included. Point made. Seeing Lucas discover London while being so nice to everyone was heartwarming. Much better than the stroppy cross main character trope.

25 Books of Christmas- Day 11

Book Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Christmas used to be one of the happiest time of Sarah’s life; that is until she was stood up on her wedding day. Closed off to men, she vowed to protect her heart by pouring all of her energy into her work. But when an American doctor enters her life, she might not be able to resist his charm.

Unlike most Christmas books, Tracy Corbett’s Only For Christmas is a heavy read. Therefore, If you are looking for a feel good, fluffy escape, this is not the book for you. Readers should be advised that it features topics such as workplace harassment, a messy divorce, displaced dog, and an elderly woman unable to care for herself.

While it sounds downright depressing, Only For Christmas was ultimately a good read. I enjoyed Corbett’s writing and thought she did a fantastic job creating a realistic world. I will definitely be checking out some of her other books in the future.

Special thanks to Netgalley, Tracey Corbett, and Canelo (Romance) for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

Erm what the sigma? nei takk. 🙃

Very fun, very predictable christmas story. Very hallmark movie vibe. But sometimes that’s just what you need. I might want to give it a 3.5 stars. 3 feels too little, but 4 seems too much as the plot isn’t that deep and it’s not a literary art work, but it’s just very fun and light to read.

Only For Christmas by Tracy Corbett

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Blurb

One month to pretend... or one month to fall in love?
How do I turn down an overly keen colleague I have zero interest in dating? Should I:

Stammer and bluster my way through every excuse in the book
Accept and then immediately turn in my resignation letter, change my number and leave the country
Allow my hot, new, doctor neighbour to step in and pretend to be my boyfriend

The answer: there are no right answers.

But option 3 is happening and I’m fake dating Lucas just to survive my work Christmas party without any further unwanted advances.

My Opinion

Firstly, have you seen this stunning cover? If that isn't enough to pull in the reader then I am not sure what is.

Tracy Corbett has written a lovely festive novel that will whisk you away. This is a relatively short book that I devoured in one sitting, I couldn't face the thought of stepping away even for a short time. Whilst reading this I could just imagine watching this on my TV, the plot would make for a good Christmas fil.

With a fake couple and festivities this makes for a highly entertaining festive read. If you haven't read a Christmas book by Tracy Corbett yet, you are missing out!

Fun, festive and emotional
4 stars

This is the first book I’ve read from Tracy Corbett but I couldn’t resist a one-month, fake-dating romance to get me into the Christmas spirit.

Sarah is Head of HR at a private hospital in London. Still reeling from being jilted, she has sworn off men and dating. So when the new hospital director takes an interest in her, she does the unthinkable and let’s Dr Lucas Moore pretend to be her boyfriend. American, Lucas, is only in the UK temporarily but he can’t help his attraction to his cute but prickly neighbour, Sarah. Fake dating her is definitely not a hardship but will he be able to walk away once their month is up?

Sarah has had a hard time romantically and not only has it brought her walls up but it’s completely hardened her heart to the thought of love or happiness. She’s even gone off Christmas since her heartbreak. She really is quite standoffish, prickly and awkward - especially to Luke. But I liked her immensely. I definitely saw myself in her and was rooting for her to get out of her own way and let herself be happy again.

By complete contrast, Lucas is the sweetest, happiest and kindest man on the planet. But he’s not annoying with it. Well, he is to Sarah! He’s so cute, and not just because he’s confused about the UK lingo and references - which was hilarious. He’s just an all-round nice guy and I’ve decided that I want him for my very own. He was smitten with Sarah and despite their differences, they really fit well together and he was exactly what she needed.

This is a very slow-burn romance and in the end, we only get a few kisses, some touches and a mention of the couple’s love life in the epilogue. It’s not that the door is closed to us but rather that there are no sex scenes to be had. I would have liked a bit more, especially before the declarations, but it suited the book to not have anything so that’s not a criticism just a personal preference.

There’s a lot of detail in the book that doesn’t really add to the romance but does help build a bigger picture of the world our characters inhabit and who they are as people. I loved the descriptions of London at Christmastime, the trips that Sarah and Lucas went on and the lovely things they bought among others. It really built that lovely, cosy feeling of a Christmas story that made me happy and festive and in need of a cup of hot chocolate.

As well as the burgeoning relationship between Sarah and Lucas, we have other, smaller storylines going on. There’s the grumpy Mrs Kelsey, Lucas and Sarah’s nosy neighbour from their building and her health concerns. We have Lucas’s sister, Harper, who’s going through a horrible divorce with her two kids. And then we have that hospital director and his unwarranted fixation on Sarah. The divorce is unpleasant and the scenes involving Harper and her soon to be ex-husband are heartbreaking and infuriating in equal measure. I would have preferred to hear less of the reasons for the divorce because it didn’t sit well in my nice, cosy romance. Yes, I know it happens in real life but I don’t like real life.

The largest of the other storylines pertains to the unwanted attentions and stalking of Sarah by her boss. It was bad enough when it was just his creepy behaviour in the office but when it escalated, it got super uncomfortable. Nothing overtly scary or overwhelming, but it added interest to our story and, of course, gave Lucas and Sarah a reason to fake date and ultimately fall in love.

There were emotional bits in the story, too. I’m not much of a fan of sad-crying in my romances and this one did it to me twice. First for Fred. It was fine - but I still cried. And secondly, just in Sarah’s sadness about where she was in her life. I could relate and so I cried. I suppose I can’t blame the author for that last one although anything that draws emotion has to be applauded!

I really enjoyed this story and very much liked reading about Lucas, Sarah and how their relationship started and grew. The writing style made this a book that was easy to read and always one I wanted to pick up and read after a break. The epilogue was also lovely and really made me all warm inside. All in all, this is a great book to pick up and read in the run up to Christmas to get you into that festive and cosy mood. 4 stars - but very nearly 5.

"Only for Christmas" by Tracy Corbett sounds like a lighthearted romantic comedy centered around a fake dating scenario during the holiday season. The book seems to explore themes of relationships, workplace dynamics, and the challenges of navigating romantic situations. Here's a detailed review of the book:

Tracy Corbett's "Only for Christmas" offers readers a delightful and heartwarming holiday romance that's perfect for fans of charming and witty romantic comedies. Set against the backdrop of the festive season, the story weaves together a blend of humor, romance, and relatable challenges, making it an engaging read that will leave you with a smile.

The novel cleverly introduces the dilemma of the protagonist, who faces the tricky task of turning down an overly enthusiastic colleague's advances. The author expertly captures the awkwardness and pressure of such situations, allowing readers to empathize with the protagonist's predicament. The multiple choice options provided for handling this predicament are not only humorous but also shed light on the sometimes absurd lengths people go to in order to navigate their romantic lives.

This sets the stage for a series of entertaining and endearing scenarios as the two characters navigate their way through the charade while discovering unexpected feelings along the way. The development of their relationship is heartwarming and genuine, drawing readers into their journey and creating a sense of anticipation as the story unfolds.

Tracy Corbett's writing style is engaging and infused with humor, making the dialogue and interactions between characters both entertaining and relatable. The festive atmosphere adds an extra layer of charm to the narrative, creating a cozy and joyful backdrop for the characters' escapades.

Thank you to Canelo and Tracy Corbett for giving me an arc copy of Only For Christmas to review.

I’m still reeling from how fabulous this story was – it has everything you would want from a festive Christmas story a grump and sunshine character play, a magical description for a winter wonderland season, and a fun, entertaining read full of twist and turns until true love conquers all and the baddie gets his just deserts! The plot and writing are like the best Christmas chocolate cake. Full of layers of turns and turns (the subplots woven through the story add the perfect angst and on-the-edge-of-your-seat fake dating action), the perfect blend of light and dark decadence and a satisfactory happy ending to have your heart bursting with a punch in the air!

I loved the vibe between Sarah and Lucas. There was a beautiful cosy sense of ease between them. Their snuggle cuddle scenes get top marks for the heart-warming, simple joy present on the page of two people enjoying the simple act of being together with their tag-along furry companion, Fred. Even when Sarah and Lucas are getting on each other’s nerves the dynamic and banter are funny, packed with attraction and you can see one of them is fighting it.

The characters in this book are a masterpiece of human creation. Everyone, from Lucas’s sister and nephews, the Human resources gang, and even the grumpy-busybody neighbour for Sarah and Lucas are created with incredible depth – I loved seeing the desires and flaws of the secondary characters weaved into the story and how Sarah and Lucas were connected to the lives others. It was a beautiful snapshot into what read like the real lives and troubles of people, not book characters.

I could fill this review just on all the amazing character designs alone for Sarah and Lucas. All I am going to say is hats off to Tracy for writing a strong-willed, determined female, who conceals so many inner wounds, who buries them deep down for fear of them being used against her but also has the spine of steel to keep going and the sweet gentleman love interest who’s got moxy inside and some great hurt her you die vibes presence going on. He’s a perfect knight-in-shining armour but one who's there to back up the leading lady, Sarah, not take over the rescue (Sarah’s perfectly capable of doing that herself).

A perfect Christmas read to enjoy during the snuggle season because it is packed full of all the Christmas cheer and joy that should fill the world at this time of year. This book gets top marks for snuggly cuddle scenes. A book for your Christmas Eve reading list!

When Sarah and Lucas unexpectedly become both temporary neighbours and colleagues at the same private hospital, they are pushed together for the holiday period in some fake dating scenario to dissuade the new medical director from lusting after the woman. However, Sarah has sworn off dating for life after a disastrous experience at the altar and Lucas is only in the UK for a month-long stint to support his sister through a complicated divorce. Nevertheless, love might have other plans for these two, because the closer they are forced together to make it look believable, the more it feels real, and soon they might have to question if it’s worth the leap of faith in the end.

This felt like a perfect Christmas romance. The main relationship is a slow burn between Sarah and Lucas as it morphs from a friendship into something more meaningful, as well as the fake dating trope feels somewhat realistic as romance tropes go in this genre. The easiness and humour-filled dialogue between the lovebirds was another highlight of this narrative, as from the very beginning they shared an instant level of comfort and understanding that meant all their jokes and endless bouts of sarcasm hit the nail on the head for a warm relationship to root for by the end.

The characters in Only for Christmas were all genuinely nice – all bar the antagonist who was ready for a sexual harassment report – and it made the reading experience all the more enjoyable. For instance, Lucas is kind and charismatic with people, caring for both his sister and nephews as well as taking an interest in the downstairs neighbour of seventy-something years of age; whereas Sarah is much more removed and professional, but she cares about her job and people like her for the level of respect she provides everyone in the hospital in the senior HR role. Additionally, the secondary characters had just the right balance of personal development, not detracting from the main protagonists, but also adding some fun and dynamic substance to the overarching plot – i.e. Sarah does have friends who push her towards owning up to her feelings by the end and Lucas has a dysfunctional family.

If you’re looking for a simply perfect romance this Christmas time, then be sure not to miss Only for Christmas by Tracy Corbett as it mixes the romance expectations with some more realistic portrayals of life, unfortunately, those like sexual harassment from a sleazy boss in a position of power. Nevertheless, follow the characters along as they begin to embrace the meaning of Christmas once again!

First thought: Super cute Hallmark like book that leaves you with all the warm fuzzies. I loved the characters, the story and all the tropes. It was just very well written to pull you in and I didn’t want to put it down. But be warned it does have some dark undertones.

Sarah is the head of HR at the hospital she works at, she’s good at her job but she’s learned to keep her work life separate. Five years ago she was was left at the alter in-front of all her colleagues and family on that day she vowed never to let another man decide her fate. She has since built a life that quiet and protected not letting anyone in that could hurt her again.

Lucas is an American DR working on a temp assignment in London while he helps his sister figure out her divorce. He is a down right good guy always looking to lend a hand and step in to help when needed. He has always wanted to be a family man and find his true love but things haven’t worked out yet for him.

Lucas ends up renting the apartment under Sarah in her building and later he finds out his new hospital also is where she works. Sarah is being harassed by the new boss at work and Lucas steps in to save the day by pretending to be her boyfriend. Her boss does not take the hint and thing continue to escalate and things turn a bit dark.

Will their fake relationship turn into more? Can Lucas breakdown the high-walls Sarah has built around her heart? Will Sarah continued to be harassed by her boss or will she be forced to quit the job she loves? Will Lucas stay or still leave after Christmas? Time is ticking down in December and all will be revealed soon. This book has a lot to offer, it’s told in Dual POV so you get insight to both MC and a lot of great tropes.

Tropes you’ll find:

* Fake Dating
* He Falls First
* Jilted Bride
* Workplace Harassment/ Stalking
* Closed Door Romance
