Miles Tanner hates me for no reason.
Me—lovable, easygoing, sexy-as-hell Dax Armstrong, always there when a fellow fratbro needs a hand…or if that fratbro would like to enjoy more than just my hand…
Miles is the broody artist-type who just got off probation for starting the fire at Sigma Alpha.
Basically, a walking red flag.
But for a guy who’s always looking to start a fight with me, I can’t wrap my mind around a night when I was a little too tipsy and he helped me back to Alpha Theta Mu.
Since then, he’s hot and cold. One minute he’s telling me to stay away from him. The next, he moves in for a touch.
Or a kiss.
In these unguarded moments, all those problematic, confusing red flags fade to the background.
Maybe he’s right and I shouldn’t mess with him, but for frat’s sake…where’s the fun in that?

CW: Discussions about losing parents (one to suicide and another to a car accident) and depictions of parental neglect.

Devon McCormack grew up in the Georgia suburbs with his two younger brothers and an older sister. At a very young age, he spun tales the old fashioned way, lying to anyone and everyone he encountered. He claimed he was an orphan. He claimed to be a king from another planet. He claimed to have supernatural powers. He has since harnessed this penchant for tall tales by crafting worlds and characters that allow him to live out whatever fantasy he chooses. Devon is an out and proud queer man living in Atlanta, Georgia.

Devon's body of work ranges from erotica to young adult, so readers should check the synopses of his books before purchasing so that they know what they're getting into.

**I was gifted an ARC of this book**

Miles and Dax’s story was such a fun read. I’m always a sucker for a good grumpy/sunshine dynamic, and this one definitely delivered. From the start, there’s this pull between them that neither of them fully understands. Miles is immediately drawn to Dax and feels this strong need to protect him—even if it comes off a little intense at first. There’s clear attraction on both sides, but they try to keep it strictly physical… at least in the beginning.

As they spend more time together, that connection deepens into something more meaningful. Watching them slowly open up and become vulnerable with each other was one of my favorite parts. When they realize they’ve both experienced the loss of their mothers, it really feels like a turning point in how they understand and relate to each other on a deeper level.

Miles is such a misunderstood character, and I loved seeing him start to soften with Dax. He tries so hard to play it cool, but the second Dax is at that bachelor auction, all his protective instincts kick in. It’s clear he’s letting someone in in a way he hasn’t before, and Dax really sees him—like actually sees him—in a way no one else has. And Dax, who’s usually the easygoing, fun-loving guy who keeps things surface-level, finally lets his guard down too. It was really nice to see him allow himself to be supported and cared for.

This book had a great balance of spice and sweetness, with plenty of tender moments and strong character development. If you love grumpy/sunshine, low angst, college-age MM romance with great banter and some solid spice, you’ll definitely want to check this one out.

I have loved the Peach State Universe since book 1, The Step Bet. And what a fun read For Frat's Sake was! I love a grumpy/sunshine romance and Riley Hart & Devon McCormack did not disappoint! As with the previous books in this series and the one before it, this book had the angst, the spice, and the healing we all love to read!

Thank you for allowing me the privilege to ARC read this book and I am looking forward to continuing this series in the future!

This book was freaking amazing. I went in expecting high heat and giggles and don’t get me wrong it started out that way, Dax gave me all the giggles the first couple chapters. But then it got real. These are two broken boys handling their grief in extremely different ways and seeing them come together and grow to love one another, supporting each other enough to work through their grief? It broke my heart and healed it at the same time. I really thought it can’t get worse than Dax’s situation with his family but then we had Miles going to talk with his dad and I won’t lie I was crying. Tissues were needed. Riley and Devon did an amazing job with Miles & Dax’s story definitely one of my favorite books that they’ve cowritten together.

Dax and Miles have a very emotional story. Their backgrounds, while being similar, led them into very different people. Getting to read Miles’ intentions and who he really is was fun and I loved their HEA.

For Frat’s Sake by Riley Hart and Devon McCormack
Book 3 in the Peach State Fratbros series

Tropes
College MM romance
Redemption ARC
Sunshine/ Thunderstorm
Found family
Family drama and trauma

Let’s kick our feet with the fun parts of this book and bring the Kleenex for the emotional parts.

Dax is in nursing school starting on his 5th year. Dax is sunshine and so bubbly. While everyone sees the fun loving guy there is so much more under the surface that is raw and jagged.
Miles is not very well like around the campus because of the fire at one of the frat houses that everyone thinks is his fault. Miles is like a grumpy bear that lives surrounded by storm clouds. When you find out why he is this way you understand him a little better.
Miles loves art. This is a way for him to get out of his head but his father hates it. Dax becomes a male model for Miles’ class, cue the fans.
The way their relationship goes to hook ups, to learning about the other to developing strong feelings for each other is just beautiful. These guys deserved to be loved for themselves and to have people fight for them.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a 277-page Fast Paced, Hurt-Comfort, Darkness/Sunshine, Found Family with Family Drama, Redemption Arc College MM Romance, full of cuddles. This is the third book in the Peach State Fratbros Series and the sixth book in the Peach State College Universe. You can also read three books in the Peach State Stepbros series, and even though all the ensemble does show and cameo, they can all be read as standalones.

Riley Hart rejoins the universe she helped create after taking a two-book break! While the last two books were written solely by Devon McCormack and were awesome, this third book packed a punch. And before you say, “Toddles! That’s kinda rude!” Think of it like a chemistry experiment where you are mixing ingredients or elements together. By themselves they are strong and successful, but together brings their work to another explosive level.

Written in alternating chapters dual first person POV, this book starts out shortly after book two ends, before quickly jumping a little time to the next semester where Dax is in his 5th year, completing his nursing degree, his passion of just wanting to help people and make them happy guiding his way. He is a high energy, fun loving, overly sexual guy that is known for pulling straight guys out of the closet. Miles is the dark stain on Greek Row, with the reputation of setting one of the Frat Houses on fire in a prank that went wrong. He is rough around the edge, with internal spikes that help keep people away from him, but at the same time, he is lonely. His outlet is his art, which his father doesn’t understand and thinks is a waste of time, which doesn’t do anything good for his confidence on the family side of things, especially with how bad his past is in that department.

These two guys have been in each other’s atmosphere since book two, when an incident occurred. But all it took for the tides to turn was for Miles to remove one brick from his wall that he constructed to keep people away for Dax to see how he truly is. After a really hot hookup, their breeding-fest takes off and their chemistry ignites. Along the way they learn of similarities in their past about their families which are tragic, and both not having much support. Learning to communicate and lean on each other, feelings for each other shine through the storm clouds that have dulled their light for too long.

Our MCs were flushed out well since they both have been part of the series as ensemble for a while. It was nice to see Dax in all his shining glory actually find real happiness with someone like Miles who also deserves it, even if there were some lightning strikes along the way. Both characters were hiding behind walls, but the one Miles built was practically impenetrable and getting the worst end of the deal in my opinion (though Dax’s cringe did hurt too). The book does seem like it sikes you out, going in with a hot humorous frat house vibe, only to get shattered along the way. A story about communication, opening up, and trusting that your voice will be heard, not to be ignored or left behind. I would like to point out that trigger warnings are imperative with this addition to the series. It is a double whammy so take care of yourself. However, the author did a great job with the topics on hand and wrote them with respect, and not just to torture the MCs. Their character developments are life changing, realistic, and what you wish would happen IF the worst ever did occur.

The Spice was really good! 4/5 🌶. It was expected. If you read the other books, you know that Dax’s reputation is known across campus. Possessiveness & release control (if you know what I mean), giving MINE vibes right from the beginning. These two have 2 different love languages with each other and one is in bed. They thrive in that department. They not only use it for release but to recharge, like the sun to solar panels.

The ensemble is massive! I mean, IT’S BOOK SIX, of course it is. I am not saying all the characters are there all the time. That would be insane, but cameos and easter eggs are present. This book was a weird one too, because it was the start of a new semester so we lost a lot of the main ensemble cast in the last book when they graduated, this novel rebooting the series with some new characters in the frats that you get to know and start matching up yourself as the reader. There are at least three more books here in my eyes, one of them has already been confirmed. But what took me by surprise was instead of starting a new series in the universe like they did after the first three books, this will be book four in Peach State Fratbros. Outside of all the Bros, family played a big part in the plot, so we dive into they fathers of our MCs and how life away from Greek Row isn’t all that great. The authors do awesome work spreading the wealth of page-time for all the characters, making sure they are built well or their development is continued from previous installments.

Being truthful about how you feel is imperative in life. Yes, being truthful can also have consequences, but what if you keep hiding something and the outcome is far worse. That darkness you are hiding will never see the sun if you won’t let it try. In my opinion, darkness is hateful to the point it hates and fears itself and wants to have rays shine through it. That’s what this is all about. Being honest with yourself and those in your life takes work but by doing it together with someone you love builds such a strong relationship, the only thing that could hurt is secrets of the unknown. It’s like chocolate chip cookies with not enough chips. If the right amount of chips is not added, they get swallowed by the dough, baked into the middle, lost in the darkness. So, when in doubt, just add more chips, because nothing bad could come from adding more creamy sweetness that brings light to your life.

💜Happy Reading🫶

ARC REVIEW
FOR FRAT'S SAKE (Peach State Fratbros 3) di Devon McCormack e Riley Hart
5⭐

English Review:

I repeat what I’ve said in previous reviews: I love these books co-written by Riley and Devon—they’re truly magical!
Today we’re back at Peach State University with a new couple!
Dax was one of my favorite characters in the previous book, and I couldn’t wait to read his story. Did I expect him to be crazier? Honestly, yes, but objectively speaking, I didn’t find a single flaw in this story! He's such a lovely character, and in this book we get to know him better. I found this book slightly darker in tone, even though it’s still a light read.
Dax is the little ray of sunshine—always happy and smiling but behind many smiles, something darker is always hiding. Miles despite his past mistakes, is a complicated character with a difficult and heavy past that will inevitably lead him to get closer to Dax. Miles is an artist: through his art, he manages to express his emotions.
I really loved their story because they are perfect for each other and both will understand better themselves. This book deals with the loss of a parent, depression, and suicide. Read with caution, but I still recommend it because even though it has everything I love in my college-set comfort reads (which are usually more lighthearted), this book deals with important themes and seeing how both of them grow, mature, and—most importantly—finally find the peace they’re looking for, thanks to each other’s support, was a beautiful journey!
Now I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Thanks The Author Agency for my ARC copy.

Dax and Miles have a little history from the previous books. Miles has a bad reparation with the Alpha Theta Mu fratbros after a prank that started a fire. And then he nearly started a fight with Dax and a couple of other frat guys. But he also helped Dax get home when he got too drunk to walk. This contradictory behavior left Dax more than a little confused and intrigued.

They are curious about each other. Dax because of the conflicting ways Miles behaves around him, and Miles because he can’t quite understand his own behavior when it comes to Dax. When Dax takes a job as a life drawing class model and Miles turns out to be a student in the class, their mutual fascination becomes physical.

From there, they start to see and understand each other, opening up and getting close. For Dax, he starts first to suspect and then to see that Miles is hard on the outside, but soft on the inside. But he also comes to realize that Miles doesn’t see that about himself. He’s remarkably patient with Miles, putting almost no pressure on Miles to open up to him. Yet he opens up to Miles, both needing someone to see the real him and hoping that doing so will help Miles to open up in return. Dax wants to be a nurse, and that caretaker instinct is fully engaged with Miles. And Miles can see that behind his sunshine persona is some hurt and loneliness, and he finds himself wanting to take care of Dax the way Dax cares for him.

Neither have had a boyfriend before, and Miles, who thinks he’s a bad guy, turns out to be such a sweetheart. The whole first date? SO SWEET! You just have to read it for yourself. He’s SO not the monster he thinks he is.

They both grow so much. One of the things I love about this series is how the authors highlight the importance of asking for help and how they work to de-stigmatize therapy by having their characters embrace that.

It was fun to see some of the characters from previous books in this series and the Stepbros series too. (I’m thinking there might be another Stepbros book in the future—Damien and Brady🤞) I’m looking forward the next Fratbros already—Keegan and Jaxon next 😁

I received a free review copy of this book. I was not required to leave a positive review. All opinions are my own.

That was just wow 😻 The first two books felt like a soft, feel-good vacation, easy, comforting, low-stakes in the best way.
And this one totally caught me off guard.
Because it’s still warm, still safe and sweet, but it goes so much deeper.

It’s more emotional and heavier in places, and that playful undertone from the first books isn’t really leading anymore. And I didn’t expect that shift, but I really, really loved it 💜

Dax and Miles are your grumpy x sunshine - sunshine x storm in this case - on paper, but it’s not that simple.
Dax looks like sunshine, but there’s so much underneath. So much weight, so much depth and hurt 💔
And Miles.. I didn’t really know what to expect with him, but I was not ready for how gentle and vulnerable he is. His artistic soul completely got to me.
But it’s the baggage they both carry that hit the hardest.
And the way they show up for each other anyway. From the very beginning. No games, no unnecessary distance, just steady, growing care.

“I want to make him smile, laugh, come, over and over again. But more than that, I want to find a way to make him happy because I’m not sure anyone has ever taken the time to try and make Miles happy before.”

There were so many quiet and beautiful moments here. Vulnerable, intimate, and soft - the paintings, the first date, the talks, the cooking..
Not loud or dramatic, just real. And honestly, that’s what I loved the most.
Their relationship doesn’t feel forced or exaggerated. It unfolds naturally, almost gently, step by step. Their reactions, their choices, even their fears, - everything feels human, normal, right.
No pointless drama or frustrating miscommunication.
Nothing of “let’s make this harder than it needs to be” energy.
And in a college/frat setting?? That felt surprising in the best possible way.

Let's not forget the spice though, because the chemistry between these two was top tier 🥵 The dynamic between them was also kind of a surprise and it worked so so good 🤭

I loved them, both of them, so so much ❤‍🔥
This is easily my favourite couple in the series.
The way they see each other, support each other and grow - individually and together.
The way they deal with grief, with fear, with learning how to actually feel things..
It felt so healing and healthy ❤️‍🩹

“Seriously,” I whisper. “I was living half a life before we met, barely knowing how I felt about anything. And now there’s you, and I feel so cared for, so safe.”

Also, can we talk about these covers for a second?? They are ridiculously hot, and this one is 100% my favorite 🤭

Thank you so so much to Riley, Devon and TAA for this ARC 💜

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

"All he wants is to protect the people he loves or cares about — me… by keeping his pain to himself all these years. He loves big." — Dax

"I was living a half life before we met, barely knowing how I felt about anything. And now there's you, and I feel so cared for, so safe." — Miles

Dax and Miles might be my favorite couple in this series so far.

What Riley Hart and Devon McCormack do so well is create male characters that embody both the differences and the universality of the human experience. Both MMCs have lost a parent: one to suicide, one to a car accident. Each carries that loss differently, and ultimately, their grief becomes something they can hold space for in each other. That's where the real beauty of this story lives.

Miles has existed on the periphery of the Peach State world, so it was a gift to finally see him fully realized here. He's a wonderful reminder, both within the novel and in life, that you never truly know what someone else is carrying. Beneath his gruff exterior is a man who is kind to his core: a loyal friend, a devoted son, and an incredible boyfriend. I did find myself wishing he received a more public apology at one point, but the authors kept it real, and I respect that.Dax, on the other hand, is pure golden retriever energy. Sunshine personified.

What struck me most about both characters is how effectively they had been masking their pain, even from the people closest to them. Their relationship becomes the space where that mask finally comes off, where they can be fully seen beyond outward appearances, comfortable in their own skin, and truly known.

Even as they navigate familiar first-relationship hurdles (disapproving friends, gaps in communication), the story remains relatively low-angst once they find each other. I loved everything leading up to their first date, the modeling sessions, the cookie scene, and especially the diary entries. If there's a better example of what it feels like to be truly seen, loved, and held, I haven't found it.

The care with which mental health is handled here deserves special recognition. Grief is not linear, and it is not one-size-fits-all. Depicting that it's okay to not be okay, and that asking for help is a sign of strength rather than weakness, is not just good storytelling. It's necessary. It also ensures both characters are in the healthiest possible place as they continue to grow, individually and together.

I would absolutely love an epilogue: five years out, illustrated, please and thank you.

I liked it… but that continuity error (the frat Dax is in) pulled me out

⭐️⭐️⭐️½ | For Frats Sake (Peach State Frat Bros #3) – Devon McCormack

I’m honestly a little torn on this one. I liked it…but I didn’t quite love it.

Dax has been built up for a while, so I went in really excited for his story. But Miles took me some time to warm up to. For a good portion of the book, I wasn’t fully convinced he was good enough for Dax, and when a character has to win you over like that, it definitely impacts the reading experience. That said, he did grow on me, and by the end, I could see them as a solid couple.

Their chemistry, though, didn’t hit the same way as some of the earlier couples in the series. With others, it felt instant and electric like it jumped off the page. Here, it was more subtle and slower to build, which isn’t a bad thing, but it didn’t give me that same obsessed, can’t-look-away feeling.

This book also dives into much heavier themes than the rest of the series. It adds emotional depth, but it can be intense at times, so I’d definitely recommend checking trigger warnings going in.

Now… my biggest issue and I really can’t ignore this one:

The continuity error with Dax’s frat.

In the Stepbrothers series and earlier books in this one, Dax is clearly part of Sigma Alpha. The fire, the one where Frat Cat is rescued by Lance in Dax’s room at the Sigma Alpha house… and that’s the same fire Miles later turns himself in for setting. So it’s not some minor, forgettable detail it’s a major, plot-relevant event tied directly to both characters.

So suddenly placing Dax in Alpha Theta Mu in this book? Yeah… that completely pulled me out of the story. And it’s why this book is less than a 4.

I can usually overlook small inconsistencies, but this one felt way too big and way too central to just brush past. It’s one of those moments where you pause and go, wait… what?

Overall, I still think this was a good book, and Dax and Miles ended up being a good couple it just didn’t quite reach the same level as some of the others in the series for me. Which I’m disappointed by because I’ve really been looking forward to this story. I thought we’d get a good enemies to lovers story. Instead there was a little animosity like barely even enough to register then they were pretty much instantly together. I just was hoping for more.

I am very excited for Keegan and Jaxon next. Their dynamic has been building for a while, and it feels like it’s going to be a good one. I’m also really curious if Tatum will get a story and honestly? I would not say no to a Damien/Brady stepbrothers book. I will always show up for that trope.

I was NOT prepared for the absolute ache this caused my heart.

I was not prepared for the emotional damage this book inflicted. And the level of spice?! I needed a cold shower after that frat party scene. If I’d been there, I would have been pressed against that window right along with them.

There should have been a warning: WILL CAUSE CHEST TIGHTENING AND TEARS

But will also have you blushing like a nun watching euphoria! I mean that in the best way possible. I went into this expecting a fun, happy-go-lucky story with an edgy bad boy, but Miles walked in, said “Surprise, bitch!” and tore down every emotional barrier I had.

Miles is the definition of a tortured soul. He has a deep, unsettling passion and a rage that he channels into art so tangible I could practically smell the wet paint on the pages. The raw, vulnerable headspace he lives in captures the experience of grief and trauma in a way few authors can. His character development wasn’t just a plot point; it was something you felt you lived through. The way he explained the "cloud" clinging to him and Dax, a living, breathing thing, was haunting. But together, they were like a beautifully rough spring storm that swept the fog away. I found myself itching to read faster, ingesting the pages just to watch these two opposites slot into each other's missing pieces.

And Dax? He is the "sunshine" personified. He lightens every room he enters, and the energy he brings to the page is outstanding. But Dax has so much more depth than you see at surface level. He is open and vulnerable, yet willing to learn more about himself as he falls for Miles. He learns that there are things worth talking about and people worth letting in. That you can thrive without feeling like you’re giving yourself up. You can be fun, silly and just as sexually hungry when you allow yourself to more than just a night.

Loss and healing are never linear. Grief is a journey we never truly finish; it stays with us, and we just have to learn to grow around it until it isn't the only thing inside us anymore.

This book was EVERYTHING. It’s the kind of read that possesses you until the very last page an all-consuming, spicy story that leaves you smiling like an idiot alone on your couch at midnight. I love when a book surprises me, and this one did it in the most glorious way imaginable.

Now go buy the book!

For Frat's Sake is a deeper emotional rival to lovers book than the previous two. At least in regards to family subjects and even their friends or fratbros relationships. Miles isn't the most liked guy around the frat houses, whereas Dax is basically everybody's friend. It's sort of what sparks their attraction to one another. That, "what makes him different" calling or "I see something in him that no one else sees" kind of spark. Which isn't far off base for these two. Miles is drawn to Dax's eternal sunshine personality, while in turn, Dax is intrigued to bring a smile to the ever grumpy Miles.

It's always a lovely thing when someone allows you the comfort to just be yourself in a safe space and Dax is happy sunshine while Miles is a grumpy cloud. Dax gives Miles a safe place to be himself, a place to not be quite so cloudy, or maybe be as cloudy as he needs to be because Dax is sunshiny enough to shine some light on Miles' cloudy days. However, it also goes both ways as Dax comes across as the more confident person with no problems, he too needs comfort and a safe space to metaphorically let down his hair and perhaps not radiate sunshine 24/7.These two even each other out which is why they work so well together.

As for Dax he's so easy going and laid back that he's pretty much tried everything with just about everyone in his radius, but with Miles he's drawn to the man behind the sad eyes. So when Miles takes over and wants Dax to be his "good boy" something inside Dax wants to comply. It means something different than just wearing his optimistic smile and he craves being Miles' good boy more than he ever expected. It really does something for him in a way every other encounter he's ever had never quite did.

Miles is definitely going through some things and Dax, for all of his happy sunshine personality, keeps some things locked inside as well. These two have the key that unlock each other's secrets, if you will. It's always wonderful to find your person who gets you, understands you, and helps you begin to heal.🫶🥰

🔥🥵Also, for anyone who knows Dax...this book is deliciously spicy. Dax and Miles are soooo hot. I mean, I knew Dax was all kinds of naughty, but these two together. 🤯🥵🫠Whew...keep a fan close by, you'll need it.

I had been waiting for this book ever since we met these two - even though I didn’t see these two being a couple until much later - as I just knew there was more beneath the surface.
Miles was blamed for the fire that damaged Sigma Alpha’s house and caused the two frats to live together, and all the shenanigans that followed, but I always suspected that he wasn’t the one dimensional character everyone made him out to be and wow was I right! While Dex appears so carefree you would never imagine what he hides beneath the surface.

Miles is an artist who tries to hide his pain with a bad attitude and keeps everyone far far away from him. He has friends - and we learn he is more caring than we ever thought as under the snark is an awkward but sweet and loyal person with a big heart - but he keeps them at arms reach and doesn’t share a drop of his pain and internal angst with anyone at all. That is until Dex gets beneath his skin. Dex is everyone's friend, and is happy to share his love and body with anyone who wants him, for a night. But under his happy go lucky friendly persona lies someone who just wants to be liked and wants those around him to be happy. Neither realises that they are merely two sides of a coin and they attempt to deal with the grief and circumstance that influences them from their pasts in opposite ways. One pushes everyone away as they struggle with grief and guilt while the other pulls everyone close in order to feel connected and needed. Both feel abandoned by those who should have loved them. This was a beautiful depiction of how grief can impact someone even years after the loss, and how those around you treat you in regards to that grief molds you. Dex wants to be a nurse, just like his mother, while Miles is an artist who is already seeing success in some circles and once these two begin to see that they can be more than occasional bedmates they begin to grow together and see that maybe sometimes all you need is one person to really see you.

This was an emotional rollercoaster in the best way and I was sad to see the end of this book.

Dax and Miles are ADORABLE!!!

When Miles finally lets Dax see the real him that he keeps Hidden from the world its just the sweetest (and hottest) thing!

The trip to Dax's dad's at thanksgiving and all that transpires there, Miles is just the anchor Dax needs. And the anxiety with baking those damn cookies - MY HEART!! 😫

I love these two so much!!

They both have their own thing to deal with from the loss of their mothers and my god do they both help each other heal. What starts off as simple F-Buddies soon turns into two guys who are each others lifelines and their relationship growth is just beautiful!

Although some topics are a little deep, the books is mostly light hearted and the banter these two have is great. They are so fun together and Dax brings out the mischievous side of Miles that I loved reading.

My heart feels all warm and fuzzy 🥰

I really enjoyed this book and although its book 3 in a series that I haven't read, j didnt feel like I needed to read the previous books - although I now will because I want to know everything about this world.

📚

Dax is a confident- some may say cocky - guy. He is proud of his looks and uses them to get what he wants from men.
Miles on the other hand is the grumpy to Dax's sunshine. He is moody, keeps himself to himself and makes sure everyone knows he likes to be left alone.

Miles has a fascination with Dax he can't explain, he can't take his eyes off him when in his presence and can't keep his thoughts off him when he isn't. And when Dax signs up to be a model for an art class for a few months - an art class Miles attends - well let's just say Miles has no choice but to stare, especially as is nude.

Dax is pretty good at reading people but there is just something about Miles that prevents him from doing so, and it makes him want to know more about him.
Miles steps in and helps Dax from getting hurt in numerous situations, even though he shows all the signs of hating him...so why is he doing it? And why is he suddenly kissing him?!

For Frat’s Sake by Devon McCormack and Riley Hart, provided via The Author Agency, is an emotionally layered MM college romance that blends enemies-to-lovers tension, vulnerability, grief, emotional healing, and relationship growth into a deeply impactful reading experience.

What stood out most to me throughout the story was the emotional connection between Miles and Dax.

While the relationship begins with tension, confusion, and emotional walls between them, the deeper their connection develops, the more emotionally vulnerable and honest the story becomes.

Both characters carry experiences with grief and emotional loss, and that shared understanding creates a strong emotional foundation throughout the relationship progression. It felt like they understood each other in ways that went beyond simple attraction.

One of my favorite aspects of the story was watching Miles slowly become more protective of Dax as their relationship deepened. The emotional progression between them felt natural and believable, especially because the story takes time to explore why Miles behaves the way he does emotionally.

The slow-burn development works especially well because the connection between the characters strengthens gradually through emotional vulnerability, trust, and shared understanding rather than only physical attraction.

The balance between emotional depth, romance, humor, and spice also felt incredibly well done throughout the story, allowing both the emotional moments and romantic tension to feel equally impactful.

This book also handled grief in a way that felt emotionally real to me personally, which made many moments throughout the story hit even harder emotionally.

Overall, For Frat’s Sake is a deeply emotional and beautifully developed MM romance filled with vulnerability, healing, chemistry, emotional intimacy, and relationship growth that stays with you long after finishing the final page.

Lots to like in this book, especially the way in which Dax was so open in his willingness to see beyond the surface of Miles' bad boy appearance.

Both young men have suffered great loss in their pasts and it's this which starts the bonding of their tentative friendship at first.

Dax is able to see Miles has sky high walls that he's using to protect himself and it sparks something inside him that recognises a kindred spirit.

What starts as a hook-up soon turns into more as they explore their growing feelings and discover all they have in common.

Most of this narrative really hit well for me, but there's were a couple of niggles that are probably only the case for me personally.

It got a little bit repetitive during the sex scenes to have Miles constantly going on about how he owned Dax's 'hole' and how it was only for him.

Once or twice this level of possessiveness works and feels hot, the more times I read it though, the more it loses any impact.

I wish the authors had found other ways of expressing Miles' need to claim Dax as I did end up feeling like I'd read it all already.

But, that is honestly the only thing that I didn't fall completely in love with.

Everything else in this story was so wonderfully delivered with care, especially around the mental health topic and the therapy that both Dax and Miles needed to cope with the traumatic experiences they'd had.

I loved that the frat boys from both Dax's and Miles' former one were supportive and willing to put the past behind them when it was obvious Dax was serious about Miles.

There's lots of humour here too, which helps break the tension, and strong support from Dax's brother and Miles' two best friends

I'm definitely intrigued by the pairing of book four and looking forward to seeing how that unfolds.

This story follows Dax and Miles who start off with a very confusing dynamic. Miles acts cold and distant around Dax, which only makes Dax more curious about him. Their interactions are always a mix of tension, irritation, and that strange pull that neither of them fully understands at first.
Things slowly start to change when they end up in the same life drawing class. Being around each other in a completely different setting makes them see sides of each other they never noticed before. The tension between them slowly turns into curiosity, and that curiosity eventually becomes something much deeper.
I really loved how their relationship developed.
Dax has such a warm and caring personality, and i can clearly see his protective and gentle side when it comes to Miles.
Miles, on the other hand, seems tough and closed off, but underneath all of that he is actually very soft and vulnerable. Watching those layers slowly unfold was honestly one of my favorite parts of the story.
Both characters carry their own pain and past struggles, which creates a strong emotional connection between them. Their bond felt very genuine and heartfelt, especially as they begin to open up and trust each other.
The romance was sweet, emotional, and very character-driven. I also loved the little moments between them that showed how much they cared without needing big dramatic scenes. Their growth throughout the story made the whole journey even more satisfying.
Overall this was such a heartfelt and emotional MM romance with great character development and a really beautiful connection between the main characters.

I would like to thank the authors for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

For Frat's Sake was cute and sexy fratbro fun, but with some particularly vulnerable subject matter that both Miles and Dax had to heal in order to thrive in their relationship. The exploration of their emotional wounds added some complexity to the sexy-hot, frat party tone that kicked things off, and I appreciated that the vibe wasn't despairing even when some tender moments got serious.

Miles took "brooding artist" to a whole other level. And though his characterization was a bit e x t r a stormy, his panic attacks made me want to cuddle the grumpy marshmallow, and ofc hug sunshine-bright Dax for not only being a caring babe, but also for his capacity to soothe Miles' overwhelm.

Dax was veeeeery c h a r m i n g, and the opposite of the outcast loner who kept drawing his attention with his scowl and protectiveness. He was intrigued by how different Miles was to him, and luckily saw through the patina of his bad reputation enough to get to the truth of Miles. Dax had the emotional sensitivity to anchor Miles when he needed it the most. And by being a safe place for Miles to rest his angst and quiet his hurts and fears, Dax was able to satisfy his own emotional needs by simply being himself.

I suspected the twist at the end pretty early, because that's usually the MO,
But I was still crying frfr.

Some truths will always
always
hit in a way that makes me ugly cry for kids who deserved better.

And I'll just leave it at that.

Overall, For Frat's Sake was a ton of sexy-sweet, fratbro fun, that also explored some squirmy emotional material which got me up in my feelings at the end! Can't wait to see where this series goes next because this was a good time and I enjoyed the energy!

Review: 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

For Frat's Sake is the latest book in the Peach State Fratbro's series by Riley Hart & Devon McCormick and as usual, it doesn't disappoint. I received an advanced copy of this book and I'm leaving this review voluntarily.

Favorite quotes: "We’ve all seen him lash out, but when he touches me, kisses me, it’s all want and desire, and I’d like nothing more than to drown in it."

"I want to be totally consumed by everything he has to offer, from his brightest smile to his darkest secrets."

Being back in the Peach State universe with this group of frat guys that I've come to love is always a treat. Amazing world building, I especially love to see the guys from previous books pop back up. If you haven't read the previous books in this series or the previous series that this was spun from, the Peach State Stepbros series is really amazing too! I've been waiting to see if the untamable Dax would get his very own HEA and I'm so happy that he does. I had a feeling that Miles Tanner was misunderstood and I loved seeing this vulnerability of both characters. Dax and Miles are kindred spirits who have both lost so much. They find so much joy, compassion and grace together and it was really heartfelt watching them fall in love. Miles has turned out to be one of my favorite characters and this book makes me love Dax even more. Love is found in the most unexpected ways and this read really showcases that. This read was everything! Spicy!🔥 Chaotic, filled with passion and you may even shed a few tears like I did. It was really beautiful watching Miles grow. I LOVED every moment of this read! Amazing job as always, you two and I can't wait for Keegan and Jaxon! 💜

Definitely my favorite of the series so far! I absolutely fell in love with Miles and Dax and just everything about their story. And I loved seeing how these two fell for one another, especially when they seem like such opposites. Miles currently has a reputation at school for being a loner and the guy whose prank accidentally caused a fire at one of the frat houses. Since then, no one really seems to really think much of him past what they’ve seen. Especially when he acts more grumpy than anything and clearly has stay away vibes. But there is a lot more to Miles than that. First off, there was more to that accident than anyone knows and second, Dax seems to be the only one who realize that Miles wears a mask. Dax has never had a problem with anyone. Everyone seems to like him just fine. Except for his dad and now Miles. He is sunshine and outgoing and can’t seem to get why Miles act like a super nice guy one minute but brushes him off the next. And the more their paths cross, the more Dax wants to know. Neither are prepared for attraction between them to spark so brightly or the feelings that follow after. But these two carry a lot more hurt and grief than anyone truly knows. They understand one another so well and for the first time, the two of them find safety in the other’s presence. Absolutely loved their dynamic. These two simply just needed one another. Needed to find their person who they can let their guard down. I loved getting to know them and watch them fall so hard for one another through all the hard things they are going through. Great story! And I’m looking forward to the next book!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have been looking forward to Dax’s story since finishing Marty and Ryan’s! Dax was so much fun in their book so I knew I would enjoy his story! And it being Miles who would win his heart made the anticipation even better!

Miles is the grumpy, broody bad boy who everyone thinks accidentally set a frat on fire last year. Dax is sunshine, the life of the party and just seems so happy. These two mix like oil and water, even when Dax tries being friendly, Miles isn’t having it. Miles is angry at the world, after having suffered a devastating loss, and Dax, even though outwardly happy, is struggling with his own inner turmoil.

I loved the path Miles and Dax took, really getting to know each other and developing a relationship based on more than sex. They communicated so well together. They both had lots of emotional baggage and were able to lean on one another for support. Seeing two men who never wanted a relationship, happily be committed to each other was inspiring. Even through the storm, they found sunshine.

Now for the dirty deets- the spice in this……o. m. g!!! So hot, so plentiful, and so so steamy!!! The chemistry between them was palpable from the very beginning so it was no surprise that the sex was explosive! Miles likes to be in charge, but seeing his softer side come out, only for Dax, was beautifully done.

I always enjoy reading Riley & Devon’s books, whether they write them together or separately, but this may be a new favorite of theirs! It had the perfect balance of love, grumpiness, sunshine and spice. I already cannot wait for Jaxon and Keegan’s book!

I love when we think we know characters and when it is their turn for their HEA we get to meet them fully and are even more in love. Because this is absolutely how I felt about Dax. Dax is such a fun loving guy, always willing to chill or looking for a hookup. He is also a good friend that seems to always know what someone else needs. But this sweet sweet boy is hurting, so, so much!
Miles really is closed off- the list of people that really know him is so small. It was pretty clear that he also has had his heart broken, but his response was to become recluse and push people away from him. As we get to know Miles more we learn more about Miles. He really has a huge heart, desperately wants to love, and enjoys art which was not something I had anticipated with him.
Sometimes in series the other characters or friend groups can really take over the book, but not in this one. While the other boys played a role the focus is really on Dax & Miles building their connection and learning about one another. I thoroughly enjoyed how they were laser focused on each other. While their connection and relationship may have started as just physical it quickly morphed into more…and the way they each opened up to the other was written so well. They both relieved themselves, their past, and the things most painful to them. If you love little adversaries to lovers, where one has no idea why they are adversaries with a lot of heart and palpable connection I would highly recommend this book! In fact, I have thoroughly enjoyed the whole series and hope we get more from the Peach State frats!

What can I say? I’m a sucker for the grumpy x sunshine, even better when it’s storm x sunlight, these two bring…

This one was a touch different from the previous ones. It was darker but also deeper as both characters had more layers than expected. I felt like it was still the same frat-romcom vibe but more grown up, which matches perfectly since they are also growing up as each book finishes.

Dax was so much more than his sexuality, or his gym vibe, or anything we've previously read. Yeah, he was the sunshine type, but he had such a complex story. His past made him who and how he is, it didn't change is aproach to life, but it definitely harmed how he felt about relationships...but every sun needs a little rain. And the way he was so intrigued by Miles truly gave away how Dax saw a little of his pain in Miles.

Miles was my favorite guy so far. He had issues, but he did allow those bad memories to change him, and I truly understand why. He was going through the motions of his life, even while using his colorful abstract art, I felt like he saw it all in blacks and whites, kept everyone away, even friends, and accepted the ban from the frat as a forgone consequence of being himself. How he started to see Dax as gold, as light, radiance that brought the sun to his storm brought tears to my eyes.

This story was truly beautiful. I have to admit I went into this series expecting silly frat guys, and while it's a part of it, there's so much more. I'm beyond glad I stumbled upon this crew and their shenanigans.

Thank you so so soooo much to TAA, Riley, and Devon, for this arc!!

When I was chosen to ARC this book, I immediately went back and listened to the initial 2 in the series first. This one is much deeper emotionally than the first two. In fact, it's a challenger for "best book I've read so far this year." Both of the MC's Dax & Miles are side characters in the earlier books. Dax is that ray of sunshine kind of fratbro that everyone likes, and Miles is about as opposite as possible - borderline antisocial and blackballed from his frat after getting blamed for a prank gone wrong. But both of these guys get caught up in "what makes this guy tick." Miles is drawn to Dax's positivity, and Dax is intrigued as to why he can't bring a smile to grumpy Miles.

Turns out that both guys share a similar family dynamic regarding their parental units earlier in each of their lives. That dynamic they experienced as young boys has forged them into the young men they are today. As the layers of the onion are peeled back for both of them, a true appreciation develops for these guy's deeper selves and they both see something in each other that no one else sees. From that point on a romance blossoms that's really fun to follow. These guys even each other out very well physically, mentally, and emotionally - which makes this such a fun read.

This book is 10/10 with the spice. We knew from previous books that Dax is a naughty boy. But once we find out that Miles just might have him beat - wow, turn up the fans! I had a hard time putting this one down and read it in two sittings. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

4.5 Stars!

I really enjoyed this story. I think you could read this as a standalone, but I can't guarantee that you won't want to read some of the other books in this series or the earlier, related series Peach State Stepbros to learn more about the various frat members. In this story, Dax is trying to get used to the changes in his frat after so many of his friends graduated. Meanwhile Miles lost his place in his frat due to a prank gone wrong, but circumstances keep throwing Dax and Miles together.

Dax has always seemed the happy go lucky guy in the other books he's been in, and it was great to get to know him better in this story. I felt for him as we found out more about his family, but was glad he had his frat brothers, his brother, and eventually Miles. Initially, Miles was a tough one to understand, but it's hard not to soften towards him as the truth and his past comes out. I loved how protective these two were of each other, even when they didn't want to get along. I liked that as their attraction and common ground grows, they open up and trust each other more than they do anyone else. They both needed that grounding and stability as they tried to navigate their changing relationship and their family situations. I loved the support they gave each other and how well they fit together as a couple.

This was a great addition to the series, and I can't wait for the next book.

I love when Devon and Riley come together to write, because I know the result will be a book I can't put down. For Frat's Sake is book 3 in the Peach State Fratbros series. It's got enemies to lovers, grumpy/sunshine, some opposites attract, and a pinch of possessive/protectiveness. While some heavy subjects are mention, the book is low angst. It can be read as a standalone, but it does make references to past events and characters.

Dex comes across as happy sunshine, eager to help others when he can, always up for fun. But there is more to him. He just needs the right person to see it. Miles is an artist, with all the stereotypical brooding. But he is more complex than just a grumpy loner.

I knew from the moment Miles was introduced that he would be a favorite of mine. And I wasn't wrong. Pair him with Dex, and there was no way I wasn't going to love this book. I loved that the authors kept their sunny/storm cloud personalities, but also delved into deeper subjects to show that both of them are far more than first impressions. These two fit each other so well. I loved seeing them both open up, shed the image they show the world, and really learn who the other is as a person. Their humor was perfection, and they had amazing chemistry. The book has the perfect amount of spice, and I honestly could not stop reading it.

And as always, loved seeing the past characters as well as getting to see new ones. Look forward to the next book!

**I was gifted an ARC of this book**

I went into this expecting a fun, chaotic college/frat romance… and yeah, it definitely delivers on the chaos—but not always in the way I wanted.

First things first… the word “frat” is used a lot. Like… a distracting amount. At one point I genuinely started noticing it every time it popped up, and it pulled me out of the story more than once—especially when it didn’t quite fit the context.

The dynamic between Dax and Miles was also a bit hit or miss for me. There were moments where I could see what the story was trying to do, but a lot of it just felt awkward and a little underdeveloped. There’s a lot going on with both of them, and it didn’t always feel like it was fully unpacked in a way that made their connection click.

And listen—I get the whole “college freedom/exploration” vibe, but the amount of sex, especially with Dax, felt a little over the top at times. It kind of overshadowed the emotional side of things for me.

I also found the writing a bit hard to follow in places. This is book three in the series, and while you can read it as a standalone, I do think you’d probably get more out of it if you’ve read the earlier books for context.

That said, it wasn’t a bad read—there were still moments that worked, and I can see why people would enjoy it, especially if you like messy college dynamics and high spice.

⚠️ Check trigger warnings for themes involving mental health, panic attacks, and loss of a parent.
