Another great read, but I really missed the “male perspective” in this one. I was hoping to see Greg’s side again, and be with him on his journey. Also missed the Bomber Base setting. I hope we get one more in this series to give Jenny a good arch, and close the story of the Squadron properly.

Loved this book with many twists and turns. You imagined you were in their company. The characters were very real and descriptions of the area they lived brought the story to life. A real Christmas read

As a fan of Christmas and holiday romances, as well as stories set in England during WWII, I was eager to dive into "Christmas for the Bomber Girls" by Vicki Beeby.

Set against the backdrop of the Second World War, the story follows a group of brave women working as "bomber girls," delivering supplies and support. Beeby captures the challenges they face while highlighting their strength and determination. The holiday setting adds a lovely warmth, reminding us of hope and love even in the darkest times.

I appreciated the well-drawn characters and their evolving relationships, which added depth to the narrative. The festive elements blended seamlessly with the historical context, creating a captivating read.

While I loved the overall vibe, some plot points felt a touch predictable. However, the charm of the story and its celebration of community and love during Christmas more than made up for it.

Overall, "Christmas for the Bomber Girls" is a delightful addition to both the holiday and historical fiction genres. Perfect for a cozy read during the festive season!

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in return for my honest review.

"Some people seemed to think women her age were good for nothing apart from knitting and baking, but she could tell them a thing or two about that."

Deedee and her story were the highlight of this book for me. I loved hearing what happened to her and seeing her vivacity. I feel like stories typically don't feature romance between people in their later years, so I loved that and thought it was very sweet.

This was the first Bomber Girls book I read in the series, but I think the introduction did a wonderful job of getting me up-to-speed on who was who and what was going on.

The pacing was a bit slower for me personally, I prefer faster stories with more external plot, but I think this would be a great story for those who like lots of character development. I loved that Christmas for the Bomber Girls also addressed some uncomfortable topics like feelings of jealousy when someone else's boyfriend is safe and your husband is reported as missing in action.

All in all, this was a great, cozy holiday read with a cast of intriguing characters.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley, but all opinions are my own.

It’s always great to spend Christmas with friends and family and it felt like rejoining old friends slipping into this book! I’ve really enjoyed the bomb girls series so far so seeing through a wartime Christmas with them was lovely!

It’s easy to grow fond of these characters and as soon as I opened the page, all of the other books came effortlessly rushing back to me. Sometimes it can take a while to rejoin a series but not with this one. It was a joy to be back.

Facing new struggles and challenges with the sisters Thea and Pearl and their loyal friend Jenny made for a great read and they never fail to make me smile at their strength, vulnerabilities and friendships. And also with Deedee on the scene in this one - the shadows of her past threatening her present made for such a compelling read, I couldn’t put the book down.

Such an enjoyable read from beginning to end.

Thank you to the author and publisher for this book on NetGalley in return for my honest thoughts and review.

It was a joy to be back with the familiar Bomber Girl series characters.

There were several strands to this story, which mainly centred around Deedee, the grandmother of Pearl and Thea. I enjoyed the revelations of Deedee’s past which inevitably impacted the present and the ongoing stories of Pearl, Thea and Jenny.

The background tension associated with Pearl’s husband, Greg going missing on a flight over Europe and its impact on Pearl and her relationships with those around her, made me think about how many people, including in my own family, must have struggled day to day with similar lack of information and confusion in WW2.

I was fascinated by the inventiveness required in the war to provide festive cheer with limited resources.

Vicki Beeby has once again skilfully produced a novel which is easy to read, full of interest and evoked many emotions in response to the story. I am looking forward to the next book in this series already.

I have read the other books in this series and looked forward to the next one.
Perhaps reading the author's note first was not my best decision as I knew what might happen - but this is a choice I often make .

This was well researched and well written. To provide too much information would spoil the story - lets just say that tissues are needed and one character does behave in an unexpected way. Though to be honest I am not sure I wouldn't have felt the same.

The story revolves around Deedee and her chequered past. It was hinted that she an Thomas had had some sort of relationship in the past but what was revealed was unexpected in some ways.

This is set around Christmas but isn't necessarily a Christmas story and could be read and enjoyed anytime of the year.

I am hoping that there will be more in the series and we learn more about Jenny and her relationship with Edward as well as her meteorological work

A superb read

As usual in my reviews I won't rehash the plot - there are reviews like that out there if that is what you are looking for...

I've read the previous two "Bomber Girls" novels by Vicki Beeby, so was delighted to be invited to read this latest book.

This is a cosy read - the story is a mix of friendship, romance and history - and features the core characters from the previous novels plus some new ones, all well written and believable. This time, we learn more about Pearl and Thea's family history - with some surprising twists.

As usual, there are multiple plot lines running through the novel, which adds extra layers of interest to the story. There's also an element of tension - I won't give away the reasons for this to avoid spoilers!

I'm hoping that there will be more stories in the "Bomber Girls" series.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC. All opinions my own.

I really enjoyed reading the further adventures of Pearl, Thea and Jenny, though it was interesting that the focus was on their feisty grandmother - a great character if somewhat modern for 1944. It's refreshing to see older people's romantic and physical feelings affirmed and celebrated, even if most aren't as fit as these two! The only slight negatives were repeated details of bus journeys (though I guess wartime was like that) and some anachronistic language - I'm sure no one would have said 'Me and Thea and Jenny are going out' in 1944, as people knew their grammar then, and I doubt they used the modern phrase 'I'll be there for you'. But it's possible! Overall, an involving, joyous and heartwarming story with great positivity.

Book 3 in this trilogy.
Having read all of Vicky Beeby's books this was an exciting addition to the Bomber Girl series.
The war is going strong and the girls are still leading busy lives. DD and Thomas are getting to know the truth about their pasts and meanwhile there's heartache and celebration.
The addition of Georgie and her storyline was an added interest.
I'm looking forward to seeing what Vicky writes next.

If I say much more I'm sure to let a spoiler slip so I will simply say I think you will enjoy this holiday story. The plot has enough twists and turns to keep it interesting but in the end all is well. Don't miss a great feel good holiday read!

For the Bomber Girls Christmas is always going to be difficult when the men they love are away. For this Christmas as the war nears it close, this one is particularly difficult as for Pearl and Jenny, those they care about are missing behind enemy lines as the countdown to Christmas begins.

For Pearls’ sister, Thea it is more stable this Christmas and their grandmother Edith moves to be nearer to the girls an reignites a romance from a long time ago. Something that her granddaughters know nothing about and it seems this Christmas is going to be very different for them all.

A lovely book and one that adds to the saga series.
