Poppy Winters only plans to spend the holidays packing up and selling her family’s home before heading straight back to her fast-paced city life. She isn’t looking for distractions, or a reason to linger.
But small town Christmases have a magic of their own, and so does Hunter Whitlow—the easygoing hardware store owner who always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Between the nostalgia of the small town, snowy nights, sparkling lights, and Hunter’s comforting presence, Poppy begins to wonder if the best gift this season isn’t wrapped under the tree at all—it’s love.
This story is sooo cute. If you need a spicy, small town Christmas novella this is HER! I loved these characters so much. This had me kicking my feet, laughing, blushing, and yes I cried TWICE.
Thank you so much to Ali for gifting me an ARC of this! 🎄
This quick Christmas read is like a Hallmark movie, but better! Super cute with a little bit of spice! Absolutely loved Hollyridge and the characters. Now I want a peppermint mocha latte!
This book is like a warm hug. The fire is burning, maybe the tree is up, you're at peace... This is best enjoyed curled up on the couch under your coziest blanket, with a lit candle and a warm cup of something.
Basically a hallmark movie in book form, it is a short and sweet little small town romance. It has great chemistry between MCs, a Twilight reference that made me LOL, no shortage of holiday cheer, and I am thrilled to have kicked off my holiday reading with Ali's latest creation!!
“You can’t scare me off, baby. There’s nothing you could do or say that would send me running now. I’m yours.”
This little holiday novella was exactly the warm hug I needed 😭🎄✨ Small-town charm, just the right amount of swoon, and a MMC who is basically the definition of a walking green flag. I flew through it in one sitting and honestly? I’m still smiling. If you need something cozy, festive, and feel-good to kick off your holiday reading… this is the one. 💚📚❤️
Poppy, busy with her life and job in the city has come back to the small town of Hollyridge to sell her mother’s home. Overwhelmed with the memories of her mother and how they would spend the holidays in her house on Evergreen Street, she decides to get a cup of coffee where she locks her eyes on a man she wouldn’t mind finding under Christmas tree. Knowing she needs to get the house on the market but needs to spruce the place up a bit, she decides to go to the local hardware store where she finds the gorgeous man she saw at the coffee shop. Poppy knows she is only in Hollyridge to sell her house and then back to her life in the city, but are some people worth staying for?
Everyone loved and remembered Poppy’s mother. Hunter was one of those people. He had never met Poppy, but feels like he knows her from what her mother shared with him. So when he locks eyes on her for the first time, he doesn’t feel like he’s looking at a stranger. Can her make her stay by showing her that Hollyridge (and he) is worth staying for?
🎄Thoughts:
Well this book certainly got me in the Christmas spirit! Curl up with this quick holiday read with some peppermint mocha latte by a fire. Bonus points if the fire was made by a hot man wearing a flannel shirt. This was like a script of a Hallmark movie. Just imagining who would be cast as Hunter 🥵 That man is a walking green flag.
Aly, has done it again with creating lovable main characters and even more lovable side characters. She also created the most charming town that I would want to live in all year long. This book had me swooning, giggling and tearing up.
This was the perfect holiday read. If you want to get into the holiday spirit and have already decorated your house on November 1st (😉), this book is for you.
Aly, thank you so much for allowing me to read this ARC.
This is a cozy and sweet Christmas romance with a dash of spice and a whole lot of emotional excitement!
The FMC is Poppy Winters. She’s recently lost her mom, and needs to head home for a while to get her mom’s house ready to sell. She’s a hard working city girl who has thrown herself into her career and has forgotten a lot of what life felt like back in her hometown. At the hardware store, she meets Hunter Whitlow, and he has an immediate effect on her. She learns that he helped out her mom and knew her well, and it starts to thaw something inside of her heart. And ignite most of the cells in her body!
The MMC Hunter Whitlow is a kind, charming, handsome, and self aware guy. He and his family are well loved by the community, and when they meet Poppy, instantly accept her as they all knew her mom too. Hunter is a gentleman, and not at all shy about being attracted to her even as he works hard to help her with the house and support her through the many emotions she is dealing with. He’s been hurt in the past and still has to deal with some of the fallout from his last relationship.
This is a “back home for the holidays as an adult”, nostalgia-evoking, quick read, and is incredibly well written. It is cinematic in the same way that holiday movies are, and reading this actually inspired me to start writing my own Christmas novella. If you have read the author’s book “This Time, Maybe”, you definitely want to give this a read!
Hi, hello, yes, if you love Christmas, READ THIS. This is such a cute, cozy Christmas romance that I will certainly be thinking about the rest of this season. I’m definitely a person who decorates on November 1st😉, but even if you’re a December Christmas girly, I don’t think there’s anyway you won’t appreciate this festive read!
Poppy is a hard-working, fast-paced, city living, girl boss who’s dealing with her mom’s recent passing. She goes back to her hometown to fix up and sell the home, until she meets Hunter Whitlow. He’s “new” to town, but really new to her, after her 3 year hiatus from Hollyridge.
What’s not to love about Hunter? His charisma, his kindness, his ability to fix/build literally anything, including a fire?! Not to mention the small town biddies gossiping about how gorgeous he is. Really though, Hunter knew Poppy’s mom, which gave him a peek into who Poppy really is before they even met.🤭
This is such a well written, nostalgic, holiday romance, with some things my mom and I do together (Skip-Bo & Drag brunches), so the nostalgia was tenfold for me. I also loved that we got a brief mention of Logan from “This Time, Maybe”; I definitely squealed. Ali cranked out another banger, and I can’t wait to see what she writes next!💕
I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.🫶🏼
Okay, I love Hallmark movies. I'm that girl that watches them year round, but amps up at Christmas time. They're predictable, cozy, and heart-warming. I know what I’m getting. The House on Evergreen Street made me feel like I was watching one of those (but with spice)!
Poppy and Hunter have chemistry from the moment they see each other and it only grows from there. Ali has a way of writing dialogue that's funny and REAL. I loved the nosy small town neighbors and that quick little Twilight reference 😆 (also, Ruby suckssss)
If you're looking to snuggle up with a book this holiday season, give this one a try! It's cute, cozy and Christmasy!
I loveeeeee a feel good Christmas romance! It just really gets me in the holiday spirit and this book did just that! Poppy & Hunter are perfection. They really just met each other and the right place and right time. Sometimes, when you know you know and that rang true for them ❤️ If you’re wanting a Hallmark-esque feel good romance this holiday season I highly recommend this one!
Ali thank you so much for sending me the ARC!! I can’t believe you’ve written 2 whole damn books! So freaking proud of you and can’t wait for what’s next from you!
What to expect: Main characters in their 30s Small town romance Hallmark vibes Forced proximity Slow burn Found family
Poppy Winters returned home with one objective- sell her childhood home and get the heck out of there, but she never saw Hunter Whitlow coming.
If you’re looking for a warm and cozy Holiday novella, then you’ve found it! Ali somehow created the inside of a snowglobe with her words alone. I felt like I was in the town of Hollyridge and fell into the world effortlessly. I could vividly see Main Street and I could almost taste the peppermint mocha latte. This heartwarming story had me laughing and swooning all the way through. This was a five star read from top to bottom and absolutely brought me into the Christmas Spirit.
Absolutely loved! 😍 For a girl that loves Christmas and everything that comes with it, I enjoyed this way too much! The small town vibes, all the Christmas festivities, and the romance 😍 oh it was chefs kiss! Definitely pick this up especially to get you into the festive spirit. Highly recommend it! The MMC oh my gosh! He is that guy! The one that will assure you, surprise you, and talk you through it, kind of guy! Loved him!
10/10! ❄️If you want to curl up and enjoy a super cute Christmas romance, this is it! Trust me, you won’t be able to put it down! I finished this in just a few days, it was that good. Do yourself a favor, get this book, you won’t be disappointed! 🎄❄️
The perfect, cozy read for the holiday season! Cuddle up as you get to know Poppy, Hunter, and all the lovable characters of Hollyridge! 🎄 Thank you to Ali for an ARC copy of this cute read!
Adorable and cozy Christmas read. All the Christmas nostalgia and vibes with a likable FMC and a crushable MMC. Story moved quickly but was satisfying and the spice was perfect.
I loved this book! Poppy and Hunter made such a sweet couple! Their chemistry was instant! The perfect festive, small town novella with some spice! Also made me a bit emotional at times!
This was so cute!! The perf quick holiday read with some spice ofc. I laughed out loud at the Folgers reference 😂 iykyk. I will def be reading This Time, Maybe in 2026!
This was SO CUTE!! A super easy read, and fun for the Holiday season. I did get a little teary eyed at some parts when the main character spoke of her Mama. Very Hallmark-like! Small town, romance.
Listen, life is complicated sometimes and what we read doesn’t always have to be! This Christmas novella is like a warm hug. It was the perfect intro into the holiday seasons for me 🎄😍 If you love Hallmark movies, small town romance, and a man who isn’t ashamed to be a simp for the right woman, then you will LOVE The House on Evergreen Street. It’s heartwarming, festive, hilarious (I laughed out loud at a certain Twilight reference 😂), and a little spicy too 🙂↕️ Turn on the Christmas lights, curl up in your pajamas with a big mug of hot cocoa, and enjoy this sweet story.
