Having now read two books about hiking the AT I can officially say “I will never hike the AT, or go on any sort of overnight hiking trip.”

I’m certain that Lizzie accurately captured the discomfort and stench that hikers experience on the trail… and I will admit, I did laugh about it a time or two, but I was also grossed out 🤣

Daniel is absolutely the sweetest MMC. The way he waited patiently for Miriam, celebrated the memory of Brock with her, and not trying to push his way into her life.

There were definitely a few times where I wanted to just shake Miriam, and tell her “just kiss the guy!” But I get that she still needed time to grieve and then move on.

If you’re in the mood for a super slow burn where he waits patiently for her then you’ll love this one!

Thanks for my ARC copy, Lizzie!

This is a heartfelt story about grief, healing, understanding, patience, caring, and a deep sense of yearning for dreams and lives yet to be completed.

Miriam and Daniel are both dealing with the pain of loss, grieving has taken much of their present, and when she decides to take a hike to fulfill some of her deceased partner. Daniel lost his friend, so whe Miriam approaches him about the hike, he decides to accompany her in hopes to find healing and also because he secretly has been crushing on her.

The author uses hiking, its ups and downs, the setting, the walking, the close proximity to explore their journey through healing. THe idea of crossing the trail works side by side with the idea of completing the process, and also bring them together.

This is a clean romance, and the slow burn, the closed proximity make this read that much more heartfelt.

Thank you to BookSirens for an ARC of 32 Trails Back by Lizzie Bruce. I received this copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I realized that I know next to nothing about hiking, but that didn't make reading this difficult. If anything it made me want to learn more about hiking the Appalachian Trail.

The story of Miriam and Daniel was nicely done. There were times when I felt her grief personally and times when it was all a bit too over the top.

There's a nice depth to the story and I do feel the grief was handled well, although I would have liked to see Daniel have more emotions regarding the loss of Brock.

All in all a nice book and I'm curious to read the prior two in the series.

touching

Miriam and Daniel´s story touched me deeply, I liked how they helped each other heal from their loss and the grief, their hiking trip was like a journey back to themselves and to each other.
