I moved here to escape the devastation of giving up my track career. Except that means constantly running into…him. My brother’s best friend and teammate - who called our night together two years ago a mistake.
I try to avoid him at first, but then he proves he’s more than the playboy jock I’d assumed. Now he’s showing signs he’s interested again, and I have to wonder: should I risk another chance with him?
Johnson
I blew it with her two years ago. And now she’s living here, going to the same events as me and coming to our games to cheer on her brother. Impossible for me to miss.
Normally, I’d give it another shot but one thing hasn’t changed - she’s still my best friend’s little sister. I’m struggling to resist the draw to her, though. Could we explore our attraction in secret, without telling her brother?
RUNNING AFTER FOREVER is a steamy, 18+ romance and the second book in the Battles in Love series, which follows the Battle siblings across four interconnected standalones. Sports Romance - Pro Football Romance - Track & Field Romance - Running Romance - Brother's Best Friend - Secret Dating - He Falls First - Athlete x Athlete - Dual POV - Eldest Daughter Representation - No Third Act Break Up - Contemporary Romance - New Adult Romance
Running After Forever (Battles in Love #2) – Kylie Skye ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I absolutely loved this book. While it’s the second in a connected series, it can easily be read as a standalone — I haven’t read the first book yet, but after this one I’ll definitely be tracking it down. I’m also really looking forward to seeing what’s next for the Battle family.
This story gave me all the feels. It had me giggling, invested, and constantly wanting to know what would happen next in Grace’s life. The relationship between Grace and Johnson was such a highlight — their chemistry felt natural, supportive, and genuinely enjoyable to read. I just loved them together.
Grace has moved to town to rebuild her life after the heartbreak of giving up her track career. What she doesn’t expect is to keep running into her brother’s best friend and teammate — the same man who called their night together two years ago a mistake. Determined to avoid him, Grace instead discovers there’s more to Johnson than the playboy jock image she’d assumed, and old feelings begin to resurface. The question is whether risking her heart again is worth it.
From Johnson’s point of view, regret has been lingering for two years. Now that Grace is back in his life — at games, events, and everywhere he turns — resisting her becomes nearly impossible. The only problem? She’s still his best friend’s little sister. As their attraction reignites, they’re forced to decide whether a secret relationship is worth the risk of everything blowing up.
This book ticks so many boxes: brother’s best friend, athlete x athlete, secret dating, he falls first, dual POV, and — best of all — no third-act breakup. It’s an 18+ contemporary romance with steamy scenes, plenty of heart, and a strong emotional connection.
If you enjoy sports romance, best friend’s brother dynamics, and relationships that feel supportive and fun rather than angsty, this one definitely deserves a spot on your TBR.

First let me say thank you to Kylie Sky for the ARC of Running After Forever. The story was great. The romance played out in a believable time frame. It didnt feel rushed or unbelievable. The spice and wish list made me realize that I might need to make my own to send to my husband 😂. I loved seeing Grace grow in her self confidence and establish boundaries in her relationship with her mom, fellow oldest daughter I can attest those boundaries are hard to establish. I loved Johnson standing up for his sister and making sure she knew she wasn't alone when things fell apart in her life. I loved the on page bromance Johnson has with Landon but also other players on the team stand out. This is my first book by Kylie Sky but best believe I will be going back and reading book 1 in the series and following along to continue to read about the rest of the Battle siblings.

Running After Forever is the second (#2) book in the BATTLES IN LOVE series
Following a devastating incident that caused her to give up her promising track career, Grace Battle moves to Orlando, to be nearer her brother and attend business school. The only problem with spending more time with her brother is Johnson Samuel’s, his best friend and teammate. After a fumbled encounter that Johnson called a ‘mistake’ Grace has gone out of her way to avoid him.
Johnson Samuel’s knows he blew it the last time he saw Grace, and boy does he regret it, but he knows his friendship with Grace’s brother and the team dynamics would be at risk if he tried to rekindle anything with Grace.
A# the pair spend more time together their friendship progresses but can they continue continue to explore their relationship in secret??
——————————— This delightful read was my first by Kylie Skye. Although I haven’t read the first in the series I didn’t have any issues following this one as they are all comfortable standalones in their own right.
Both main characters are engaging - Grace with her self deprecating, kind and thoughtful manner and Johnson with his considerate, patient and generous nature. I loved that Johnson was careful of Graces innocence and didn’t push her to do anything she didn’t want to. Also his altruistic approach to donating huge amounts of money, and his willingness to do anything for his family. I loved how Grace matured throughout the story to the point that she was able to stand up for herself against her mother.
Although I know pretty much nothing about the sports included in this book, they were very well written so I was able to follow along easily. There was alot of detailed descriptions of the sports included which shows the author is either very knowledgeable or did her research well.
Although I enjoyed the slow progression of Grace and Johnson’s relationship there were some parts that I felt dragged out, hence the 4star review.
There are a lot of open door, spicy scenes but I didn’t feel these were gratuitous, rather they helped highlight the progression of their relationship.
With a cute couples cover and good editing, this is an engaging read.
With thanks to Luna Literary and Kylie Skye for an early read of this book. All comments are my own, honest, unbiased opinion.

Thank you for the ARC! This review is my honest thought.
This is the second book in the series, and it gives us the chance to get to know Grace and Johnson more deeply. Grace is a runner, and Johnson is a football player. And to make things even better, he’s her brother’s best friend.
You don’t need to read the first book to enjoy this one, but it does offer glimpses of Grace and Johnson earlier in the series. What I especially loved is that the timelines overlap, allowing familiar moments to be seen from a new perspective. It added depth to their story and made the world feel more connected and immersive.
I was hooked from the prologue alone. Grace is a second child but the firstborn daughter: competent, sharp, and quietly vulnerable, with layers that hint at complicated family dynamics beneath her strength. One of my favourite elements was how relatable Grace’s experience of being highly competent felt: the expectations, the people-pleasing, the pressure, and the quiet exhaustion that comes with it. As a firstborn daughter myself, I resonated strongly with Grace’s struggles, and the author captures that balance of strength and vulnerability with remarkable accuracy. It felt honest, validating, and incredibly well written.
I loved how we’re introduced to Johnson as a vulnerable man carrying his own struggles. The way he fills his time to avoid returning to an empty house hit close to home: it was honest and deeply relatable. I really appreciated that the author didn’t shy away from portraying the loneliness Johnson experiences; it felt refreshing. I did find myself wishing we could explore Johnson’s struggles with his father in more depth, but I also understand and appreciate that this wasn’t meant to be his central conflict. Even so, it added another meaningful layer to his character.
I also really appreciated seeing the same moments from both POVs. I think it added so much depth and understanding to their dynamic and the story itself.
Something I appreciate about Kylie Skye's writing is how beautifully she writes vulnerability. I could feel both Johnson’s and Grace’s internal struggles clearly; it made for a refreshing read.
Also! I love a girl with a list 😉🔥… and a man who anticipates his girl’s needs? Absolute swoon.
This book left me with the warmest, fuzziest feeling. I loved every minute of it.

Running after forever is a sports romance book that actually goes into great depth about the MC’s respective sports. We follow Johnson and Grace through their journey with sports, their careers, dealing with family drama, and of course, getting together even though Johnson is her brother’s best friend (so much yearning).
What you will find inside this book: -Athlete (NFL) x Athlete (Track) -Brother's Best Friend -Secret Dating -Virgin FMC -Eldest Daughter Rep -No Third Act Breakup -400 pages -2nd in the series (spoilers for 1st book in this book) -Multiple POV, first person -Yearning
Rating 2.5/3 🌶️🌶️🌶️(three open door scenes, and a few fade black) 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review I felt like this book was a real life, sweet, romance book that wasn’t overindulgent in the romance department. The author went into good detail about their careers in sports, about the challenges they face with family and mental health, and how that shaped them as people. We got to know our supporting characters really well (awesome side characters), and spent lots of time both on the football field and the track Field. Both of our MCS are truly wholesome people that want to do good in the world and who are very committed to their families. The FMC being a virgin has an important role in the book, as we get to follow her sexual awakening (which again is not over done). I don't know if there is a lot of character growth from both MC's, but we do really get to know them as people and it's a lovely journey to follow.
There was only one or two editing mistakes, otherwise the book was nicely written, the plot flowed really well, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a sweet, real life, sports romance book.
Why four versus five stars I didn’t feel that there was a lot of emotional grit in their relationship. The main characters go through a lot outside of their relationship, but in general, it almost seems too easy. And I felt like we spent almost too much time focused outside of their relationship.
ARC review I have read Book 1 in this series (ARC copy as well). These books can be read as a standalone, but reading in order is great too! Kylie Skye's writing style is an easy, breezy, feel good read. Antecdotal thoughts while reading Grace - FMC, 3 football brothers, Princeton, track athlete, PA to NFL brother Johnson - MMC, NFL football player, former roommate to a brother of Grace's Nothing good comes from drinking and a game of Truth or Dare with only 1 other player....or does it?? Open door obviously due to the game. 🫣 Will Rawley be a chef post football career? Maybe book 3 in the series? I forgot about the "Better Together" anthem from book 1. Never leaving the house without your face on is a philosophy I have never lived by!! Johnson, I can think of a PA working on her business MBA. Maybe a co-chair the gala with you? Glad to see that the big, strong, rich football player thinks "Oh fuck" about getting a girl's phone number. Granted, it is a very specific girl, but still. 😄 Flashbacks to images in a hockey romance...get your head in the gala Grace. Emotional intimacy before phyiscal = nothing wrong with that. "special history" 😆 Seasoned co-chairs trying to play matchmakers??? Johnson can be Grace's cheerleader/supporter? She takes care of so many other people, who takes care of her? 🤯 Did Johnson just ask about tropes???? Hurricane solidification Battle Business Manager in the future?? Calm down Landon. You got to figure things out with Rori. No f'in way....Rawley!!! Johnson, way to support your girl!
This is my second book in this series, and this time we get the one Battle sister. Grace wants to keep things quiet, so her big brother doesn’t jump in with his opinions — especially since she’s falling for his best friend and teammate. Johnson goes along with it, though he struggles a little more with that decision because he doesn't want to mess up the team dynamics if Landon finds out.
What I Liked - The whole secret relationship angle actually works here, mostly because the brother/best‑friend/teammate dynamic adds realness to the story - All the running and football stuff woven through their story — it's what makes Grace and Johnson who they are and determines some of the decisions they make - The history between them from that one night two years ago and how they first interact with each other - Johnson being the one who seems to fall first but is trying to play it cool - Grace who's trying to protect herself and not blow up her relationship with her brother at the same time - Both of them dealing with their parents’ issues in different ways, and how that shapes them and some of their choices
Kylie has a way of balancing the sports, the family issues, and the romance without one taking over the whole book.
I liked how this story runs alongside the first one. Grace finally gets to be more than “the sister/Landon's assistant”. Looking forward to the next book and the next Battle brother to fall. I like the easy read of these books and Kylie's style.

What to Expect: ❤️Athlete (NFL) x Athlete (Track) 🏈Brother's Best Friend ❤️Secret Dating 🏈Virgin FMC ❤️Eldest Daughter Rep 🏈No Third Act Breakup ❤️Yearning
It’s a sweet, Hallmark worthy romance with swoony dates and a playful spicy checklist, I found it perfect for breaking up some heavier reads I’ve had lately.
This story follows Grace, who is a polite, people pleasing eldest daughter track star who’s spent her life living up to everyone else’s expectations…but finally she starts chasing what she wants and I was here for it! Enter her brother’s best friend, who she’s crushed on for the past two years Johnson. What follows is secret dating, stolen moments, and a refreshingly very mature romance that skips the dreaded third act breakup! 🙌🏼
I had a lot of fun with this one, though it fell a bit flat at times. I kept waiting for a big dramatic moment that never came, and the pacing felt a bit uneven at times…some parts dragged, while others flew by. I would’ve happily traded a little less football detail for more of that sweet picnic date.
That said, I’m officially invested in this family, and Grace’s siblings sound like an absolute blast. I’ll definitely be picking up the rest of the series.
If you’re in the mood for a feel good, low stress romance, this one’s for you. 💕 Thank you to the author and Luna Literacy for the arc.
This is the second book in Kylie's 'Battles In Love' series and it is such a good read.
Grace is trying to figure out her path in life. She thought she knew where she wanted to go but one overheard conversation derailed her and her plans. Meeting her brother's best friend just complicated things and gave her another thing to doubt herself over.
Johnson has berated himself for how he reacted to Grace's comment years before and he's been hoping for a second chance. This time, he doesn't plan on messing it up.
Kylie has again written characters full of intricacies and nuances that you uncover throughout the story. The story itself is full of depth and you will be swept away by them both. The chemistry between them is there from the beginning and you watch as they discover more about each other and themselves. Letting each other into their lives and hearts.
Johnson is a caring, gentle soul who will do anything for Grace and Grace takes the time to get to know the real Johnson whilst also showing him sides of herself that no-one else has seen.
I love this couple, they just work so well and I loved watching them work towards their HEA. 5 star read with this one, I read it in one sitting, so engrosed as I was in their world. Thank you Kylie for giving us another Battle love story.
Running after Forever is the second book in the Battles in Love series, and it completely solidified my love for this world.
This story follows Grace, a polite, people-pleasing track star who has spent her life trying to meet everyone else’s expectations. Until she finally starts chasing what she wants on and off the track. Enter her brother’s best friend, who she has had a crush on for years. Their relationship unfolds through secret dating, stolen moments, and a refreshingly mature romance that skips the dreaded third-act breakup (bless).
Grace is a v!rgin FMC who knows exactly what she wants. She’s even prepared with a wish list, inspired by her favorite romance tropes. Her character felt empowering rather than naive, and her growth throughout the story is incredibly satisfying. The book also doesn’t shy away from tough family situations, using them to really highlight Grace’s and Johnson’s strengths and the emotional development of the characters in a way that feels authentic and earned.
Yes, there is good on-page spice, but it never overshadows the plot. It simply enhances it. Every intimate moment feels purposeful and rooted in connection, not just heat.
Emotionally rich, romantic, and character-driven, Running After Forever delivers in all the right ways—and I am more than ready for book 3.
Running After Forever is the second sports book in the Battles in Love series by Kylie Skye. Dual Athletes, brothers best friend, hidden relationship with a slow burn are the tropes. There is no cheating, no third act breakup and contains a HEA.
I would like to Thank Luna Literary and Kylie Skye for my ARC and in return I voluntarily promised an honest review.
Grace Battle and Johnson Samuel had a connection when she came to visit her brother, his best friend, while on Spring break. She admitted she was a virgin and things got awkward.
2 years later Grace has graduated from Princeton and is now enrolled in Business school in Florida. Johnson is the Florida Waves Quarterback and has promised her brother that he will keep the guys away from her.
While helping with a charity event that they are both co-chairing, Johnson and Grace find that they are attracted to one another but know that her brother will forbid them to see each other romantically.
They keep their relationship hidden but when Johnson is injured during a game and he calls out for her, the secret is now out.
Will they end what they have started to keep the peace or will there be forgiveness when he sees that they're Running After Forever?
Thank you to Kylie Skye and Luna Literary for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Running After Forever is the second book in the Battles in Love series, and it ended up being my favorite of the two so far. This story follows Grace and her brother’s best friend and teammate, Johnson, as they keep their relationship private while navigating careers, family expectations, and friendships. I really connected with Grace, especially her internal struggle with running and her sexual inexperience, and I loved how Johnson balanced being dependable while still letting Grace set the pace and take control of what she wanted. The list was such a great touch, the spice definitely delivered, and the writing felt stronger and more confident in this book. Even with younger characters, the language and pacing felt more polished, making this a very bingeable read.
My only small critique was that the conflict around Landon not communicating felt drawn out, while the resolution on the boat wrapped up very quickly. Overall though, I really loved this book and enjoyed continuing to watch the Battles grow. This is a solid sports romance and a great pick for fans of secret relationships, brother’s best friend dynamics, and slow burn tension.
A great continuation of the Battles in Love series. This story follows Grace Battle and hunky football star, Johnson as they navigate a rocky history, a secret present and securing a future together while trying to ensure that their worlds don't collapse when they just simply want to be together. So much is on the line from their choice to be together, dominoes that cannot come crashing down!
Among the chaos of their budding romance, they both build a foundation of trust and understanding from sharing their own vulnerabilities and secrets they keep hidden. They help each other heal, allow themselves to be their best version of themselves and to take chances!
Another hit with the sports romance that has you falling in love and thinking about all the times you gave up because you didn't believe you were good enough. Running After Forever is an engaging and motivating sentimental piece about trust, dreams, family, going after what you want and deserve. A great mix of drama, romance, spice and of course, sports! The characters were easily lovable and the timeline was beautifully maintained from book one and leaves zero gaps!
Thank you again Kylie for giving me the chance to read your series and Running After Forever!
I LOVE THIS!! My first ARC of the year and it didn’t disappoint. This is book 2 in the Battles In Love series. I did read book 1 prior to this one but I don’t think it was necessary to read it.
Troupes include: Athletes 🏈🏃🏼♀️👟 Brothers best friend Secret dating🤫 No third act breakup
Two years ago while Grace was visiting her brother Landon in college, she had a moment with his roommate/teammate Johnson. When Johnson calls it a “mistake” she tries to pretend it didn’t bother her.
Johnson and Landon have been best friends and teammates in college and were even drafted by the same NFL team. When Grace moves to Orlando to be closer to Landon and attend business school it’s really not a surprise when Landon asks Johnson to keep an eye on her. He doesn’t want any of his teammates taking advantage of his sister. The more time Johnson spends with Grace he realizes what a “mistake” he made before.
There is definitely chemistry between them so they make the decision to keep whatever is happening between them a secret. They both feel this will give them a chance to see if there is really something further than just a friendship. Landon is too focused on his new relationship that there’s no way he will realize what is happening, or will he?
Running After Forever was such a refreshing and genuinely lovely read. It was an easy story to fall into, and I enjoyed every moment of it.
Grace and Johnson were absolutely adorable together. Their relationship felt strong, mature, and grounded — even with a bit of secret keeping along the way. What I loved most was how healthy their connection was. There was no third-act breakup and no unnecessary miscommunication. Instead, we get two people who communicate openly, talk through their feelings, and make sure they truly understand one another.
Watching them actively choose each other and work toward a shared future was so satisfying. They knew what they wanted, and they knew it was forever — which made this story incredibly comforting to read.
This is Book 2 in the Battles in Love series. I hadn’t read Book 1 before starting this, but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment at all. That said, I’m definitely going back to read Landon and Rori’s story now 🥰
A beautiful, heart-warming romance from Kylie Skye.

Thanks to Kylie for trusting me with your second child (her first is Best Year Ever and if you have not read it, definitely add to TBR!)
I adored Grace and Johnson! Kylie gave me secret relationship 🤝 brother’s best friend and I ATE THIS BOOK UP. In all honesty, she asked for feedbacks while I read and I barely had any because I was so immersed in the story, tension, spicy, and swoon that I totally forgot.
The story timeline runs along side with Best Year Yet and it took this story to another level. Grace is strong, independent, and always put her family first. I found her super relatable since I have the same struggle in putting myself after others. It took years to learn from my significant other to start being “selfish.” Which is so similar to Johnson’s for Grace. If you ask me how to describe Johnson in this book, it’s teddy bear and I have nothing more to say. Except, I love him and I may have cheated on Landon.
If you are looking for a sweet but oh so spicy, this is it! Definitely one for the the sports romance reader TBR!
The second installment of Battles in Love finds Grace Battle finally finding someone who sees her for more than just the competent sister, who doesn't need a lot of help and can manage on her own. That person is Johnson Samuel, who is her brother's best friend and QB1.
This book has secret dating, found family (of sorts), and coming of age. Add in spice, injury, uncertainty, and above all else love, this book hits the mark!
My only criticism is that I felt like it wrapped up fast, the ending was a quick one, but alas a good one! I did love to see the love story of Landon and Rori unfold and see how the characters both navigated that hiccup as well as how they came together, it offered depth to the characters. (in full transparence I did not read the first book in this series before I read this book, but I can say that it did not effect how well I understood the characters and their development!, but I will be going back to read the first for sure!)
Thank you to Luna Literary and Kylie Skye for the ARC of this book!
Okay, I literally loved these two so much. This story was everything I needed it to be and more.
The tension between Grace and Johnson was SO good. I could not put the book down. I loved how gentle and patient Johnson was with Grace since she was much more inexperienced and still a v!rgin. He was a consent KING and always checking in on her, no matter what level they were at. He was perfection.
I really loved Grace's character development throughout the book. Seeing her go from someone who is shy, timid, and agreeable... to someone who learns to stand up for herself was perfect. Learning to love her sport and herself again had me in my FEELS.
I can't wait for everyone to meet and LOVE Johnson and Grace. BUT now I am SO excited for Rawley's story...

Grace had a small make out in the past with Johnson few years ago.Now she's back to live in the same town as Johnson, and there's no avoiding him,he's her brother Landon best friend.Soon they can't stay away from each other, and their relationship must to be keep secret,as Landon would not aprove. Not only Johnson keep his past relationships short, the team don't need them fighting and angry.
Will they find forever with each other,or is it only attraction that will burn out?
Sweet and quick new adult romance.I liked how Gracie and Johanson feel comfortable with each other during the wish list, chemistry was definitly there, and the spice was great.Their relationship and friendships were near perfect,it's like Hallmark with spice,so if you like this idea this book may be something to give a try.My first book by this author and hope to read more.
Thank you author for arc,my review is honest and my own.
This book did my heart some good! It was adorably cute and perfect, but with some spicy moments mixed in there too. This book had a second chance romance, athletes, brother’s best friend/teammate, and a virgin FMC. Grace was a sweet, determined FMC who fought against being a people pleaser and believing what others thought about her. She was super relatable and I loved watching her transformation as she started to trust and believe in herself. And Johnson was the picture perfect boy for her! Such a (southern) gentleman throughout the entire book. He wanted to be the best leader for his teammates, and wanted to be the person his family could lean on. Grace and Johnson have a slow, “golden”, innocent-ish relationship. I loved watching their relationship unfold. Reminds me of having my first love. There is no third act breakup, and yes, they get their HEA!
*This was an ARC read for me, and my honest review.
I feel that I need to start this review off by saying that Johnson Samuels is my first book boyfriend. While I typically prefer audiobooks, reading this ebook kept my attention and I hated whenever I had to put it down.
Grace and Johnson both felt so real and like they could have easily been part of my friend group, even if their lives are heavily football centered and mine is well… not… This story felt fleshed out and we were able to watch the relationship grow and change over time without unnecessary filler.
I’m not usually a fan of hiding relationships, but this story focused more on the actual relationship and it’s natural growth. There were obviously the people who knew about and supported Grace and Johnson, and everything worked out in the end, but it was such a relief that there was no third act break up over the whole thing.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Review copy given to me in advance by the author...
Running After Forever was such a sweet, emotional read that completely pulled me in. It’s one of those books that feels comforting and romantic while still delivering moments that tug at your heart in the best way. The chemistry between Grace and Johnson felt natural and easy, and I loved how their connection unfolded—it was soft, sincere, and full of feeling and had me invested.
This is the 2nd book in the Battles in Love series, but can easily be read as a standalone. By the time I finished, I wasn’t ready to leave this world, which immediately pushed me to pick up the first book in the series!
Overall, Running After Forever was cute, romantic, and full of heart. A solid 4-star read that I’d definitely recommend to romance readers looking for all the feels. 💫📖
Loved reading Gracie’s story line and how it kind of intercepted with her brother Landon’s story line.
Loved reading her finding her independence and her strengths becoming her true self and find love and being fierce in owning it and navigating it with someone who admires her encourages her and cares for her entirely.
J - crushes on her the first time he meets Gracie, but being Landon’s best friend he doesn’t try anything. Doesn’t see her for year after. But once they all live in Orlando again they reconnect and a relationship blossoms. He shows her so much love & attention and encouragement. They push each other to be the absolute best at everything. Being each others safe spaces.
Okay, wow! I am so glad I found Kylie Skye’s books and was lucky enough to receive an advance review copy. 4.25 ⭐️. Grace is in track/running and has some over protective brothers. Johnson is one of Landon’s best friends (Grace’s oldest and most protective brother) who was tasked with watching out for Grace when he couldn’t and keeping her away from the football team. Well, things take a turn when the one guy Grace is into is the one that should be protecting her. It is only worse that it’s also her brother’s best friend. Watching Grace and Johnson navigate their feelings and situation was great. You can expect : secret relationship, brother’s best friend, laughs, serious moments, and real life situations with family.
I was given an ARC from the author and am leaving an honest review.
Although this is Book 2 in The Battles In Love series, this was easily read as a standalone. The chemistry between Johnson and Grace felt real and relatable. Although Johnson is a professional football player and Grace is a former college athlete with brothers in professional sports, their personal struggles felt realistic of those in their early 20s. This book was enjoyable with just the right amount of humor and spice to balance out the more serious topics discussed. I definitely have Book 1; Best Year Ever, on my TBR list.
Ah what an amazing book! This series is so good! I had the pleasure of arc reading the first one and have been a huge fan since I saw Kylie on instagram and devoured this. Grace and Johnson are the best couple. I loved the nickname little battle!
Beautifully written I really enjoyed getting to know Johnson and also loved the way he is with his family too. Grace has struggles when it comes to her mother so it’s so nice she gets a mother figure with Johnson’s mum.
Can’t wait for book three which is rawleys story. These are standalone books however I would highly recommend reading them in order so you get the full experience of getting to know the characters
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I liked the family dynamic, and her brothers were hilarious. His family was also lovely (especially his Mom). Unfortunately, I didn't feel the same for the main characters, so I had a rough time reaching for this book. There wasn't anything terrible about either of them, just small things that kind of bothered me about each of them. The pacing was also very slow for me. It's not a bad book, it was just not one where I'll keep going with the series (or read the book before this one). I do realize this is her sophomore novel, so I would go back to read her again in a different series if the things I mentioned went differently.
*ARC review* I received Running After Forever as an advance copy through Luna Literary Management and author Kylie Skye, and I’m so happy I did. It was a nicely paced read with just the right amount of spice (🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️). The main characters were both enjoyable, and the evolution of their relationship, although predictable, was fun to follow.
Since this is book two of a series, I will absolutely be going back to read the first Battle story and will be eager to move on to the third book this spring. If you’re looking for a light, happy story and enjoy sports romance, this would be a great read for you.
Running After Forever is a feel good sports romance. I loved Johnson as a male lead, he is everything right in a male partner. The representation of the softer side of masculinity was very well done. I also loved the care, trust and vulnerability Grace and Johnson shared with each other.
What didn't work for me was the pacing. I found many parts of the story to be slow and mundane. The stakes just didn't feel real enough. I kept waiting for a scandal that they had to overcome together and it never really happened.
With that being said, still an enjoyable read! If you want an easy feel good romance, this one's for you!
