Treason Westbrook is the future of Madison Pointe—but not without a woman the city can trust. Navie Dixon has secrets and survival. When she refuses to play his girlfriend, he removes her options. Now, caught in a fake relationship with real consequences, the line between politics and passion are blurred and dangerous.
Navie and Treason must decide if a foundation born out of lies and leverage can hold the weight of trust? Because somewhere between staged kisses and stolen glances, pretending starts to feel a lot like the truth.
Yesss to giving us an original love story, I loved the Political theme. 🎵🎶I will cross the ocean for you, I will go and bring you the moooon, I will be your hero, your strength, anything you need🎶🎵 This was how Treason was coming behind Navie.
Navie was a beautiful, intelligent... scammer 🤷🏾♀️ She inherited a hustlers spirit from her ain't ish momma, but she unlike her mother had a good heart. She was doing what she had to do to take care of herself and put her sister through med school. And she was doing it, until she ran into Treason, the Interim Executive Liaison, that was vying for the coveted State Assembly Leader position that controls the city. He was single and as history has it, the most trusted politicians must be married or at minimum in a strong relationship. They set out to find Treason a fake wife, but fate has him cross paths with Navie and he knows immediately that she is his one. Treason makes Navie a proposition, which she turns down. However, being the politician that he is, he knows how to get what he wants. He forces her into a corner and makes it clear that her only option is to be with him. Was this aggressive? Borderline obsessive? YESSS. Do I still love him? YESSS 😩😩 Despite him giving her no choice when it came to their relationship, he was so patient with her. He handled her with care and gave her safety that she had never experienced before. When I tell you the way this man was coming behind Navie, is the bar. Get out my face if you ain't moving ish around and putting yo life on the line to keep me safe. Navie didn't hesitate to reciprocate when needed, she had his back just like he had hers. Despite all the political bs, the red tape, and past secrets that threatened their relationship they held on. They grew closer and the love was felt.
I wanted just a little more closure. A year later was her sister on track with school? The Sloane and Jaleb situation, what became of them? Overall I enjoyed the story!
“You’re just scared because that means being seen. He’ll see the cracks you hide behind because that little voice is still in the back of your head telling you you’re not worthy. I know what it’s like to flinch at kindness, to confuse control with care, to only trust when your back is against the wall. When you grow up thinkin’ the person who’s supposed to love you the most is the same one who makes you feel the smallest, you expect pain, even when peace walks in. Sometimes you even crave it because pain is familiar, but peace is scary.”
Who knew a love could blossom between a politician and a scammer 🤭 To me, this was a slow burning political romance and add in the fake relationship.
Loved watching Treason and Navie’s relationship blossom from needing each other for personal reasons to falling in love 🥰 Their banter between each other was felt lol They both don’t take no shit!
There were some grammatical errors. I also wanted a little more closure with some things.
also wanted to add that although Sloane was an ain’t shit parent to Navie & Rayven, I kind of have a soft spot for her lmaooooo 🫣🤭
The story itself was good however, the pace of the book was off for me and a lot of stuff felt unresolved like the whole Danielle situation he didn’t mention it to blue. Sloan being such a bad mother I felt that wasn’t really resolved in depth on page. The book focused on the election and that wasn’t on page just a social post then the epilogue. The sex scenes needed to be a bit more detailed as well. Not my fav from the author but it was decent.
I absolutely loved Treason and Navie. They were opposite but also similar. Their chemistry is off the chain. Even though their beginning didn't start off with roses, their ending did. This story is a story where trust, love, and loyalty are earned not giving. Treason and Navie learn to show up for each other in ways they never imagined. Treason's circle couldn't understand the lure and the lore with her but it wasn't for them to understand only to accept. The couple allowed their guards down and found something deeper and meaningful that went beyond the smoking mirrors. I love how the things they said that they didn't want became everything they needed. Not only did I enjoyed their connection but their banter too, getting off on each other, taking as much as they give. Treason and Navie is a good example of finding love beyond the surface and it scares them both. However, after getting a taste of how good it can be, leaving wasn't an option so they were up and it stuck. I enjoyed this story and highly recommend. It not your typical political or fake relationship story. It's more to it and it pulls you right into their world in Madison Pointe. This story made me feel a plenty: laughter, smiling, hope, genuineness, and love. It is a gentle reminder to shed your past, don't let it define you, live in the present, and embrace a future that you didn't know you wanted or needed. I enjoyed the supporting cast too.
Omg I loved this couple so much. I loved the nicknames and the playful flirty banter between the two. It took them a while to get there but the journey to love was beautiful. I feel like some things that were said on page and not mentioned again needed to be addressed more. It just left me with questions. I feel like the ending was rushed but in the end they’re headed to HEA and I love that for them.
It’s been a while since I read a book from Kaylyn and you still got it mama 👏🏾 looking forward to what’s next .
If Kaylyn wrote it. I’m gonna read it. From beginning to end this was sick a great read. I love how the relationship started off a little rocky, a lil kidnapping, a little blackmail; it couldn’t get any better right? Only it did. Love had no boundaries and accept all flaws. Just the kind of book I love to read.
This was a slow burn with drama and sexy Treason was that dude and was strategic and protective! Navi was that chick doing what needed to be done to handle her business without losing herself!
This was a well written novel, it had me hooked from the first page. This was worth the wait. I couldn’t get enough, I wanted more even though it was a lot of pages. Kaylyn did her thing with this one.
This was a good read, and I loved Treason and his affinity for Navi from the moment he saw her. From the beginning you can tell this is going to be a slow burn. Treason is blackmailing Navi into a relationship, and she doesn't trust easily because of her background, but the pace of this story was a bit too slow for me. It felt like it took forever for them to make any headway as far as the relationship, and there are a number of things introduced in this story that I felt were left unresolved or unexplained. Like the relationship with Sloane is described as being so traumatic and hurtful to both Navi and her sister but is never really dealt with. Sloane's past is brought up multiple times as a negative, but we do not get a true backstory for this. Just bits and pieces here and there. Also, the backstory for Treason and his ex is so flippantly thrown in and never brought up again it's crazy. Overall, this was an enjoyable read. Once Treason and Navi's relationship kicks off, it's really sweet. I just wish there weren't so many unanswered questions.
I have been in a reading slump - unsatisfied with the last several books Ive read. But THIS BOOK - cured it. Kaylyn came through with a both an entertaining plot and entertaining characters. The drama, the comedy, the romance just perfect. I was hooked from beginning to end. I could read about Navie and Treason forever. Its too much to even lay out - just read the book.
My only gripe is the ending felt rushed! This is a bit of a spoiler—- but the book does such a good job telling the story of how their relationship progressed and they each overcame their struggles to be the best for each other. And everything they were building to didnt even happen on page! The book is already on the longer side so I think one more chapter where election night and the proposal took place wouldve been fine. Idk it feels like we were left hanging a little. Also did he ever tell Navie the truth about what happened with Danielle? Despite this gripe - I would still recommend.
This was my first read from this author. It left me questioning if I should continue to explore her work. A friend told me that she is usually better than this so I’ll be reading another book from her.
This book had too many unanswered questions and felt rushed as though there was a deadline that we weren’t aware of. I would not recommend reading this book if you’ve never read this author. And if you have her this author, maybe lower expectations the sex scenes are not spicy. The drama leaves a lot to be desired, and the end of the book was so rushed.
The highlights of the book where I loved the storyline and the fact that it was a political romance. The ingredients were there for a five star story. They just needed better combination and more time to bake.
This was the slowburn I needed to get me out of my reading slump! I loved everything about Treason and Navie. The character development was spot on and the pacing was great! Despite the initial encounter, the natural progression of their romantic relationship was perfect! Even through arguments, they still took time to learn one another. The supporting characters and their relationships to Tre and Navie helped give me a glimpse into their psyches and why they behaved the way they did. It was great balance. I also like how although there was some crazy drama that none of it took precedence over Tre and Navie’s relationship.
Shout out to Treason and Navie for pulling me out of my reading slump. There was a lot going on, but it was entertaining. I like how things weren’t easily fixed, but relationships continued. For example: Jaleb and Treason’s relationship or Sloane and Navie.
There were some flaws: grammar errors, and some jumble sentences I couldn’t understand. But overall I really enjoyed it and spent the whole day smiling at Treason breaking those walls around Navie’s heart. That museum date🥹.
Loved Treason and Navie. Not your typical love story, idk if it classifies as an enemies to lovers but it something close to that. Hopefully there will be additional books that will be interconnected because I was left with questions regarding some of the characters. Thandie, Fallon, Jalen, and Danielle all needed to be checked and I hate that we didn’t get that in this book. Overall I really enjoyed this book, it was something different from what we gotten from Kaylyn and I was not disappointed.
kayln has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I can always expect a really good read from, her. I enjoyed Blue and Stink, their banter was everything. I really wanted her to knock Fallon out one good time but whatever. I can relate to Blue so much, not the scamming part anyway. LOVED Blue and Ward's relationship. .. .I'm hoping there's a follow up to the side characters but no pressure. I.m disappointed that it didn't come out why Tre and Daniel ended especially we with how he was always trying check my girl about keeping stuff.
I really enjoyed this book! Usually I don’t like slow burns but the storyline and characters were really enjoyable. I highly recommend this book. It took me out of my reading slump. The only reason why I knocked off a star is because I wished we learned more about the aftermath of Danielle and Winston. Also, the writing felt choppy st times. I had to go back and read a paragraph because it felt like it didn’t connect. But other than that, I loved this book. I’m excited to read more books from this author.
One of my favorite authors so i knew this was goin have me in a chokehold. Treason is not your average politician. Navy, little Robin Hood, had me entertained. I love a good enemies to lovers and this one had plenty of twist. There were things that just kind of went away in the story but they didn’t make or break the plot so i was good with that. There was definitely enough to keep me locked in.
DNF I tried to finish this book because of the review but I just couldn’t. I only got thru 10% of this book. It was poorly written. It was so choppy and way too many grammatical errors.
I’ve read other books by this author so I know she’s good. This just wasn’t her best work.
Whew chile!!! So much, but I don’t wanna give it all away lol.
From the way they met to them both being hustlers, then navigating an uncomfortable but needed space, was everything. I loved reading about Treason and Navie so much!
Treason and his Blue ... I love their love and commitment to each other despite their past traumas. Another great, captivating read from one of my fav authors. Kept me up all night! I hope we won't have to wait too long for another masterpiece from Kaylyn
This book was amazing from start to finish. Great storyline, great plot twists, perfect villains, just enough drama, amazing mmc, an fmc worth rooting for. You did that Kaylyn. I’m a new fan.
This was so beautiful Entertaining And can’t put it down type of words It’s another Kaylyn hit that you MUST read… Sloane is sooooo good 😊 as well as Ward and then Rylo…. Read it!!!! It’s needed to make you feel good
This was a long book. It took me a while to get through it, but it didn’t disappoint. It was low-key a slow burn. However, it made you laugh. I love the relationship that navie and treason had!
Usually Kaylyn books really pull me in from the beginning. But this book was a slow burn that never fully hit for me but I enjoyed it still just slowly.
