A grumpy witch. A sunshine dryad. A kiss that wakes the wood…
I came to Widdershins to get away from home and party, not plant trees. After I accidentally set the greenhouse on fire, I’m forced to do permanent detention in the Old Grove. And that’s where I meet Linden—six-foot something, shoulders like a barn door, and the kind of smile that makes everyone’s heart melt, including mine. He grows pears with his mind, thanks every tree by name, and calls me “sparks” like it’s my legal title. I try to be unimpressed. My magic… does not cooperate.
The more time we spend together—repotting seedlings, rescuing an angry raccoon from a compost bin, shoveling manure like it’s a full time job—the calmer my storms get. Which would be great, except most dryads are rooted to their Heartwood. If I fall for him, I might be asking him to choose between me and the forest that keeps him alive.
I like sunshine, water, and Cass Reed. I take care of the Grove, the bees, and anyone who wanders in looking tired. Cass pretends he doesn’t need help and I pretend I don’t notice his magic going haywire every time I’m near. I’m a simple guy. I lift heavy things, sing to saplings, make Cass laugh at least once a day. I’d love nothing more than to sweep him up in my arms and run away, the two of us bonded forever.
But roots matter. If I’m away from the Heartwood too long, I fade. And now developers want to “improve” the Old Grove into a parking lot with decorative shrubs. Cass also has an offer to join a big-city coven once he’s done with school. Our paths seem to be diverging.
I have a forest that counts on me to survive. But my heart may never recover if I let Cass go.
Evergreen is a warm, grumpy/sunshine academy romance with greenhouse kisses, gentle humor, plant magic, and a happily-ever-after that refuses to be uprooted. Perfect for readers who love big hearts, soft strength, and love that grows where you least expect it.

This one was actually a bit of a slow burn romance. It took the time to really establish Cass and Linden together before they were having sex which was refreshing for this series. The story is top notch. Until the very end there’s no huge danger there’s not looming doom it’s just them working together to rebuild the greenhouse and it was nice. You got to see Linden really connect with someone on a deeper level and Cass really let his guard down and be loved. All in all it was a lovely refreshing little cozy tale.
4.5 stars Linden is an easy going gentle giant, a dryad with a deep connection to plants and especially to his family's grove that has been there for centuries that he is the caretaker for. Cass is a witch who has insecurity issues with not being good enough, not feeling loved and accepted, and he covers this by being a grump with an attitude and acting out rashly. They really are opposites in their attitudes and dispositions, but it doesn't take long for Linden to see beneath the front that Cass shows everyone, and with his gentle patience, Linden shows Cass he can be himself and be accepted. The personal growth in Cass is amazing to see and from there the connection between them grows from a tentative friendship to friends with benefits to a deeply loyal love. But just as things are blossoming between them, disaster strikes and it has a highly emotional effect. While one situation is in the process of being dealt with, there is another attack from the Purity Front. Their forces seem to grow in numbers with every interaction, causing untold damage, violence, and even death. I love that things work out and Linden and Cass get the HEA they deserve. But there is still a lot of uncertainty with regards to when and where the Purity Front will attack again. They seem to infiltrate people and places to gain advantages, perhaps it's time to turn the tables on them! I really enjoyed this book. The gentleness and sweetness of Linden and Cass growing together to become an amazing couple balances out the danger and violence. However, the ending is also two sided as you have the happiness of a new couple paired with the uncertainty of the future. This is a highly entertaining and engaging book that I would recommend.
I received an ARC from the author, this review is my honest, unbiased opinion.
This is book seven in the author’s Widdershin’s Academy series. While it doesn’t EXACTLY end in a cliffhanger, you’re definitely gonna want to grab the next one as soon as it comes out; it’s probably the closest a book can come to a cliffhanger without actually being one.
Everything was going along so wonderfully, for so long, that I had high hopes that this one would be all light and fluffy but Noooo, those Purity Front Freaks just couldn’t leave the guys alone! Don’t worry, it IS a mostly fluffy read though it does get a little darker near the end; it’s a good thing Cass, a witch, and Linden, a dryad in charge of protecting the trees near his home in the woods, are willing to do whatever is necessary to protect each other from any possible threats... Anyway, check it out for yourself, see what you think, as for myself, I Ioved it… the book AND the MCs! 4.5 stars
I received a copy of this book for free but am voluntarily leaving a review.
Cass was showing off and with his magic blew up the greenhouse on campus. His punishment is to help rebuild it. Linden has been working on his final project which just happened to be in the greenhouse. Cass and Linden are sweet together. Linden is the first to really Cass. While working together on rebuilding the greenhouse they start to have feelings for each other. The Purity Front is back and causing all kinds of trouble, Linden has to fight to keep his grove and Cass and his parents finally talk. Family drama, chaos and destruction, found family and HEA
2,85⭐️ Why do I bother continuing this series? There’s just. So. Much. Smut… They insist they’re taking it slow because Linden’s a virgin, but : 4 days after meeting BJs, the day after anal, and thoughts of feelings and future… yeah real slow… 🙄 But at least there’s some plot in this one, even if the more interesting thing was seeing Wild and Elias again (where were the other two of their quad though?)
Beautiful as usual. This series is surprisingly suspenseful yet, in some way, a testament to the will of diversity to win. These mixed relationships fighting a nazi-like force, the Purity Front, is truly a comment on the small-minded, hateful people who believe anyone different is a menace and evil and a deviant. Wolfe not only makes the point that love is blind to those awful beliefs, but it stands up and fights for the right of anyone to be free and live free.
Everything that happens at Widdershins is always calm before the storm. When the storm hits everything goes to hell in a handbasket. But at the end of the day it always turns to a seemingly happy ending. Male to Male relationships begin to form throughout all the turmoil.
I could not be more happier with book 7 what an amazing story with amazing characters kept you on the edge of your seat at the ending, and still came out with a happy ending
Vivid imaginations abound in this new world of humans and monsters and witches and all the others. These characters are complicated, loving, confounding and marvelously real. You’ll enjoy the hours you spend with them immensely.
Cass is fine too, when he stops being a dick lol. I feel like this installment could have continued for at least another 50 pages (or 1-2 hours). But I'm assuming whatever is missing from this book will continue in the next book. Hopefully.
Back at Widdershins Academy, conflicts still abound between mages and other species of paranormal beings. But once again, an unlikely couple forms, despite the conflicts, despite the difficulties, and despite their fears. Cass and Linden are different and perfect for each other. Linden is the calm, while Cass is literally the storm. They balance each other out, and out of disaster, a relationship is born—almost a miracle. As with the other novels in this series, there’s magic, a beautiful romance, a few pleasantly steamy scenes, and—despite the looming war—a happy ending.

This book was another installment of something great. The book starts to pull you in slowly and before you know it you are already on chapter 20. It's that good.
