How many times had she whispered those words to herself?
Ryn is a monster, a murderer, an enchantress. Though magic once ran deep in fae blood, it’s now outlawed—because the only magic left belongs to the vampires and the stolen blood in their cursed, vile veins. But Ryn has learned to enchant on her own, how to control blood and appraise the soul it belongs to. Her little secret condemns her and her sister to a life in the shadowy slums.
When a desperate act to save her ailing sister results in a death sentence, Ryn’s only salvation is a shocking proposal from a notoriously heartless prince. She isn’t supposed to fall in love with him. He isn’t supposed to fall in love with her. It’s just a mutual opportunity for freedom from their circumstances…right?

Beatrice B. Morgan lives in southern Illinois. She loves the country but hates bugs. When she’s not reading or writing, she’s playing a video game. Beatrice is a steadfast optimist, casual nerd, and caffeine addict. She often plays her music (a mix of classic rock and pop) too loud and drives too slow.

I was super excited to get an ARC of this book, but also a little worried because I've never been super into vampire books. But labeling this as just "a vampire book" does it a huge disservice. This book was a ton of fun, and although there are vampires, it's so much more than that.
The start of the book was interesting, if not a little slow, but around 15% it got super exciting and was full stream ahead from there. I loved the main characters - Ryn and Zain (especially Zain because who doesn't love a broody, tortured MMC?), and also some of the side characters. One of the things I loved about this book was the originally of it. There were lots of individual pieces that I've read in a bunch of other books, but the way it was all put together was creative and made for a super entertaining read. I can't wait to see what BB Morgan puts out next!
I feel really bad doing this... I got this ARC through BookSirens and I'm grateful for that.
The blurb of this book sounded absolutely amazing. But it fell flat really quickly. Seeing I'm 55% in upon DNFing, I just have no desire to finish this book. It takes way too long for things to actually happen. Especially seeing this seems to be a stand alone. I'm over halfway done and nothing interesting happened. We just get a few crumbs here and there and that's it. I had hoped it would pick up a bit, but I'm just bored out of my mind right now. And maybe this book is absolutely amazing once you read on, but like I mentioned, I have no desire to pick this book back up. I thought that maybe I needed a break, so I read other books, but the urge just isn't there.
The magic system did sound interesting, seeing she's a blood enchantress, but there's not a lot of debt in that department. Maybe it will come when you read more of the story, but having little to no information over halfway in just doesn't do it for me.
And this whole Aurora stuff just pissed me off at some point. Why did that need to drag on for as long as it did? And why does the FMC have little to no backbone to actually stand up for herself? She's just too afraid to fuck things up.
I received this book as an ARC and was excited just for the cover art, I didn’t know what to expect going into it.
Yall. She earned that 5 stars. The banter? Witty. The spice? Spicy. The plot? Plotting.
Ryn is just a girl surviving in a world surrounded by fae and vampires, where magic is punishable by death. Working as what is essentially a small time assassin using what little magic she has to provide a bearable life for her and her sister. One day she decides to hunt on the royal grounds and her whole life turns upside down.
I received this book as an ARC, and I apologize to the author it took me longer than I wanted to get into the book but once I started it I devoured it.
I agree with another reviewer that this book is definitely more than just a book on vampires, there was so many fresh and interesting angles. Fae, vampire, magic, blood enchantment, slight enemy to lovers, slow burn, mixed with a bit of mystery.
This was a good story overall, I’m not disappointed in the slightest. Out of the 50 books I’ve read this year this is in my top 10
So good. I couldn’t put it down. The perfect blend of romance and fantasy. When I thought I had it figured out I was wrong. And I was surprised with the twist. The spice was done beautifully, and not the main focus. The take on fae and Vampires was unique and different. The only thing I wish for is a little more background on the FMCs parent. Other than that a must read.
