Mahogany is caught off guard when a blast from the past steps back into her life. Not only as the mysterious ‘Armani Suit’, but as Crescent Carter, her new client. The connection is instant, undeniable, and every bit as consuming as it was the first time. Crescent feels it too, their chemistry pulsing beneath every word and every glance. But the morals they share hold them back, keeping business and desire in a fragile balance. For Mahogany, whose marriage still binds her, crossing that line could shatter the life she’s been fighting to hold together.
Meanwhile, Duke is desperate to keep his family intact. For the first time in years, things with Mahogany are steady, and he’s determined to protect that fragile peace. But shadows have a way of creeping in—and Diary is the secret he can’t outrun. The truth waits, threatening to dismantle everything he’s worked so hard to keep hidden.
As passion and temptation build, Mahogany and Crescent must decide how much longer they can resist what they feel. Will loyalty and morality prevail? Or will the pull between them prove stronger than the promises that bind her? How will Duke balance his life and his secret? Will it all work out in his favor? Or will the truth unravel in a way that destroys everything he’s worked hard at keeping together?
For as long as Miss Candice could remember, writing has been her passion. In the beginning, she wrote poetry. Later on in life, when she was about thirteen years old, she was introduced to fanfiction.
The Coldest Winter Ever was the first urban fiction book she read. It wast then when she took Fanfiction to another level. She perfected her writing skills, and began to write Urban fanfiction. At first, writing was something she did in her spare time. Something that was therapeutic to her. Never in a million years, did she think she would become a published author, although it has always been a dream of hers.
Now, at the age of twenty-eight, she's penned over ten bestselling novels with many more to come.
In addition to writing, She's also CEO and founder of Miss Candice Presents.
Well, this was a turn of events I didn’t see coming. Book two did not live up to its predecessor at all. Between Mahogany fightin’ for her life to save a marriage she knows is over, wasting everybody’s time by continuing to lie to her therapist, and the shyt ton of useless dialogue this book was a complete disappointment. There was absolutely no growth from the FMC and I hate that for Mahogany and the kids. She’s definitely setting a piss poor example for her girls. I’m not sure why the author is draggin’ Mahogany’s story out like this because, honestly, all of this could’ve been wrapped up in book one. Three books are unnecessary.
I feel like I need to reclaim my time. Was there potential, yes, was it realized, NO. The story was dragged on and on, without taking many steps forward. The only thing we gained was the identity of Armani Suit which added more trash and baggage to an already messy situation. To wait until the story was 100% over and end on yet another cliff hanger is beyond me. There was no need for a third book, half of this story could have been left out and instead REAL PROGRESSION forward could have been made. Atp I feel like Mahogany, with her confused self, may as well stay with serial cheater Duke.
*screams and throws book across the room* WHAT DO YOU MEAN TO BE CONTINUED??? We are still on this rollercoaster and I am upset, ladies and gentlemen, this book is frustrating, I knew when I go to Chapter 13 and not much had changed that surely the ending isn’t going to be rushed. I just want it to end at this point, I'm so over Mahogany and having to wait for Lord knows how long until this is closed. I just want her to choose herself, man.
What's done in the dark will come to light. Mahogany and Duke have their share of secrets, and this book shows just how much those secrets are coming back to haunt them. Duke messed up big time, and after that ending, there's no way he can lie his way out it. Its about to get real for him and Mahogany. Can't wait for part 3.
Disappointed with this plot. I love this author and my first introduction to her work was with Sienna and Jahad’s storyline which was beautifully written. Couldn’t put it down. I even enjoyed Saint and Naoki’s story. I was looking forward to learning more about Mahogany but both book one and two were a struggle for me to finish. Basically Mahogany is very unhappy in her marriage and she’s tried it all…to grin and bear it, get back, just being angry, being a punishing wife, and then trying wife. I felt very little connection to her. It seemed as if her character just complained a lot with no forward progression as mentioned in other reviews. Duke is trash and has done what he’s been allowed to do. Now all of a sudden he’s afraid and trying to straighten up?? This story just doesn’t connect the pieces the way it needs to. It had potential but I’m very disappointed. I guess Armani suit is supposed to be her soul connection but through reading it appears that Duke is even after all he’s done to her. I may still read the 3rd installment bc I’d like to see where the author is going with this.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️|🌶️🌶️🌶️ Part two just flows so perfectly! I love how Miss Candice gives the readers a previously chapter in the beginning to remind us where we left off at.
The character development is off the charts in this one. You really connect with the characters as a reader. I think having 3 POV’s was really essential to the story because I can truly feel their emotions off the page. This story line really gets deep, things are heating up, and secrets are building up to be revealed!
Also can we talk again how my full first name is in the book and spelled correctly? La’Chanté the therapist is really that girl lol! (I literally cried because my name is not common and it’s really in a book). Forever grateful for you Candice! 😘💖
All in all this book is one of the top books I’ve read this year! READ NOW! 💖
Where do I even begin? Let’s dive into the layers of Ne. She’s incredibly self-aware, yet there’s this fear lurking beneath the surface about what might happen if she takes a leap of faith. I’m absolutely captivated by her.
Then there’s Duke. He knows he’s in the wrong, but he’s so caught up in his obsession (attachment to love/abandonment issues) that he’s treating everyone, literally everyone poorly. Still, I can’t help but feel a bit of empathy for him. It’s all so messy and confusing.
This story is rich with complexity; even the kids sense that something’s off. But Mom puts on a smile and pushes through, so shouldn’t we? Oh, my heart can barely take it! A must read! I can’t wait for part three!
🎵"Everybody cheats But you gotta know how you gotta know when, you gotta know why My infatuation with you is taking me on an emotional high I'm caught all up in this love affair. "🎵🎵
It's as though these characters won't stop talking to the author, or she has just lost complete control of the plot like Mahogany did her morals.
The drama! So this just rolled over into a third book!! This is a soap opera at this point because, as messy as this book is, I am not entirely convinced that Crescent is even "Mr Armani Suit." What then of Mahogany's obsessions and consecutive actions?
Justin ole salty 🤬🤬🤬 a$$! Now Really?? I know Ms. Rochelle didn't send you out there. These people have me stressed!
Honestly, I was so excited about this book after reading the first one. However, I’m so disappointed. It was insanely reparative and dragged way longer than it needed to. I respect the writing process and certain things need to happen for development, but nothing was coming together with a flow. I’ll read the 3rd book because I want to see what happens but I’m not excited for it. I truly thought mahogany would blow the rest of the Soul Ties series out of the water. This second book dropped the ball, severely.
The only one being honest in the story is Crescent.
I understand how fear can play with the mind, but throughout this book, Mahogany felt in her soul that her marriage was on the rocks. She is definitely staying true to “’til death do us part.” And this Duke is going to put her in a mental place that she may not be able to dig herself out of for some time.
Duke bro smh...
This is the perfect read if you like drama. Mahogany’s story is like many women’s situations.
🙄 I’m not gone even hold you. It doesn’t seem like this the same author who wrote Soul Ties. It literally wasn’t until the last 25% of the book that it was decent.
Here’s the funny thing though. The story is relatable to many women in Mahogany’s situation. The story line has so much potential. It just dragged on for no reason at all. It could have literally been wrapped up in 2 books.
Definitely gone read all the spoilers before I open the last book to see if it’s worth my time or not otherwise my time has ended here
Now Miss Candice…. 😭😭 why are you doing this to me??? I need the next book to be out in no less than 48hrs because the cliff you just left me on is just cruel. I loved this book so much and Soul ties is one of my all time favorite series ever but MAHOGANY!? she had definitely been a highlight for me. Her story is so raw and real that I can’t do anything but love it and her. You are doing an amazing job but I’m begging you 🥹 make the next book the last one…my heart can’t take the stress, I need a cigarette or something 😩
I'm completely drawn in and consumed with this series! I called in sick with the first book and just came in late on days with this one. The plot, the dialogue, the heart break. I had to stop several times while reading to gather myself. Without reading your bio, I have to ask, Do you have a degree in Psychology? Or some form of training in mental therapy? Don't answer that. Just keep writing! Nothing else matters. I need to communicate I love this story! I love your work! I'm impatiently waiting for the next book.
Man when I tell you I hated everyone in this book 😭😂. Duke a$$ out here doing the most just making ish worse. Mahogany 🤦🏾♀️ I just want her to take her kids and love her self. Crescent was def gtn beside himself at the end cause wtw that’s why we don’t mix business and pleasure. I wanted to punch Duke mama in the throat cause how dare yo talk about Mo and ya son is an ain’t $hit 🥷. And Justin!!!!! Oh Justin 😂😂 that 🥷is wild af for that. WHERE IS BOOK 3!!!!
I fully understand Duke is trying to do the right thing now, but I just feel like it’s too late. I want Mahogany to be honest with herself so that her and my baby Crescent can have that happily ever after. I hate that after fantasizing about him for over 5 years she won’t allow herself to explore what they both want. And Duke is still lying, but the cliffhanger Miss Candice you didn’t have to do us like that.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Definitely a five-star read!!! This story is the Rollercoaster ride you can't wait to get off. Mahogany is trying to get groundes in a marriage that has beeen crumbling for so long while while trying to find herself in the process. What's a girl to do when the one you vowed yourself to is your biggest disappointment? What happens when the man of your dreams becomes a staple in your life?
All the hidden secrets are now being exposed....Will your marriage stand the test????
Ya' know I'm about sick of all the characters. I want to like Mahogany but she's really getting on my nerves. And to be honest so are Duke and Crescent at this point. I don't know if I can last another book. Everyone is so all over the place. Mahogany doesn't really know what she wants, Duke needs to grow a spine IMMEDIATELY, and Crescent is starting to come off like a creep...idk I just need a second
Mahogany Part 2 dragged on unnecessarily. Mahogany and Duke stayed on my nerves this entire book. There became a point where even Crescent started getting on my nerves, especially when he and Mahogany were “working” together. When I realized, about half way through, that there wasn’t going to be a conclusion I started skipping pages. It got a little too long winded and predictable for me. I need the next book to wrap it up and come to some conclusions.
This book kept me up until 2 AM. All I have to say is that I need book 3 right right now! Ducati needs a good swift lick! I wanna fight dis 🥷🏾!! Who he makes my ass itch. Mahogany, Mahogany…..girrrllll I am routing for you so hard 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Miss Candice tested my gangsta had me in tears with Crescent Carter…😩😩😩 whoooo and that cliff hanger BABY!!! It’s going to be on an poppin’
This series keeps getting better and better!! I’m normally not a fan of cliffhangers, but these hit different! I enjoyed the slow burn this book offered. I look forward to the next one. If you haven’t read the rest of the series, PLEASE start from book one. You won’t be disappointed!
.... I'm getting real tired of these cliff hangers. A lot of this book was some annoying ass back and forth Mahogany had with herself about her lame ass husband Duke. And don't get me started on his scary ass. Both of them literally just need to leave each other, bc the back and forth with themselves and each other is annoying as hell. They both too damn scary!
The secrets are hidden. Mahogany and Duke are trying to make things work, but the secrets are going to destroy them. They both should have been honest. It is hard, but what is done in the dark will come to the light. I can't wait to continue the next book
3/5 — Whew! The way I’ve been waiting on stuff to hit the fan and secrets to be revealed … like is today the day?! What’s done in the dark will always come to the light. Ducati, I don’t know what to tell you. I pray Mahogany heals and move on because baby that cliff hanger — where is book three?
I really enjoyed all of the other books in this series so had high hopes! We waited all this time for this book only for it to drag on and on a cliffhanger. This could’ve been wrapped up in one book and been the end of Mahogany and Duke….im still going to read the next book tho
As the saying goes “what’s done in the dark comes to the light.” I just personally hate that it took until the last page to happen. IMO the cliffhanger was not necessary, everything could’ve been wrapped up in book 2
By the time I realized we were headed for another cliffhanger it was too late to stop reading. Please wrap this up in the next book. It was very repetitive and all the chapters focusing on Crescent's family were too long and unnecessary. We did not need that many words about cranberry sauce. lol
Ouuuu. I can't wait for part 3. I knew Justin would do something like that, lol. Duke should have kept it in his pants. I hope Mahogany moves on from Duke.
I was waiting for that bomb to drop!! I’m so mad at Duke’s decisions. Mahogany isn’t perfect and all actions have consequences. I know part 3 is going to be on fire!
