Kate Morgan #12

Simon Says... Believe

Rate this book
Detective Kate Morgan wishes all holidays were filled with celebration and joy, but her latest crime scene tells a different story. The leftover festive spirits of Christmas and the new year are overshadowed by the grim reality of another murder. No amount of ribbon wrapped around the body or notations on a greeting card to Believe can change that.

As she delves into the first murder of this year, Kate unexpectedly uncovers a second case—another victim and another instance of holiday cheer turned sour. Are these cases linked, or is Vancouver experiencing an unusually grim extended holiday season?

Simon stands by Kate, offering his unwavering support in her investigations, just as she stands by him and his architectural rehab projects and his peculiar psychic visions. However, when these visions and unsettling rumors begin to threaten his real estate business, Simon realizes more is at play …

But what exactly is happening, and is Kate involved in all this?

Simon St. Laurant and Kate Morgan are up to their neck again in murder and mayhem.

Kate is on the case of a baffling trio of murders that leaves her scratching her head. This tough as nails cop and her crew always get the job done.

“I think, when you get desperate enough or lost enough, wallowing is about the only thing that feels good.

Simon is also having some trouble that comes out of nowhere. He’s also hearing a woman in his head but he knows nothing about her at all.

I love this series and it just gets better. The relationship between these two has grown with each story.

I love this series, the relationship between the straight talking, shoot from the hip detective and the wealthy, psychic property developer shouldn't work, but not only does it work, it blossoms.
Detective Kate Morgan, head of the homicide division of the Vancouver PD, was faced with yet another body, the body of a fit, good looking young man, naked apart from a strategically placed festive bow.
Wealthy property developer and Kate's partner, Simon St. Laurent, had a disturbing vision, his visions had helped Kate and her brilliant team in solving crimes in the past but neither of them could connect this vison to the current case.
As Kate uncovers two more bodies that have the same MO, both handsome and fit and both adorned with festive decorations, they had to be linked but how ? what was the common denominator ?
Kate and her team had to up their game before the killer struck again.
I love the unlikely relationship between Kate and Simon, I love how Kate's team look forward the Simon's woo woo input, I love how Kate has tried hard to deny Simon's powers but has gradually come to accept them whilst strenuously denying that she herself may have limited powers.
This is a very complex, convoluted story with wonderful characters, it will have you gripped from the beginning, it has many suspects and few clues.
Whilst Simon is striving to have Kate's back, he has his own problems, who is trying to damage his business and why.
A great story and I look forward to the next one.

Simon Says… Believe by Dale Mayer
Kate Morgan Series Book Twelve
Detective Kate Morgan has another odd case. And their hopes that it was a one off are shattered when they find a couple of other cases that are similar to the odd way the man was found. With only Kate and Rodney on duty, they have their hands full… a case of too many suspects, and yet no one they can pinpoint as a killer.
Simon St. Laurant has some problems of his own. Not his building rehabs so much; things are actually moving along well with those. No, he has bank issues. Someone is besmirching his name, and he won’t be sitting still on this one. Also, some woman keeps screeching at him. He’s not sure if she’s dead or alive, and she’s always sobbing, so it’s hard to figure out what he can do to help her.
I love how the author is developing these two characters. Kate used to be a lot snappier towards Simon, and he used to be a lot more of a loner, staying clear of people… especially the police. As their relationship develops, they both soften their edges. Love this series!

A roller coaster ride full of mystery. Get ready folks! Kate's team has a new case when a man has been found dead wrapped in a bow and a card that says believe. Meanwhile Simon is hearing a woman scream and moan so hard that he can't even stand. He soon finds out her name is Sarah. Besides that, someone is trying to slander his name and reputation as a business man by making the bank believe he is over extended. Now they don't want to give him anymore loans. Now he's really mad. On the other hand, Kate is getting more cases with the same MO. If you want to know more your just going to have to read it for yourself. You will be wondering "who done it" till the cows come home. The twists in this book will make you want to keep turning the pages. Great book Dale. Five stars. This book was given to me as an ARC from booksprout and I am leaving my voluntary review

Believe...

..but believe in what?

...or who?

These cases are twisted, even for Simon and Kate. And whilst Kate's cases are plain bizarre, with possible connections, but maybe not real connections and Simon's visions that just add more confusion, Simon is also facing weird happenings in his world, untrue rumours, difficulties with business dealings and threats that appear out of nowhere...but who is targeting him....and why?
Cases like these and lives that are over busy could easily tear Simon and Kate apart, thankfully for them it draws them closer together. They are both unique in the way they work, the way they view the world and the people in it. But they are both very good at what they do, and whilst they can be a little abrupt and blunt at times, you cannot help but love them. I really enjoy this series and hope we get many more books/cases with them.

A really well written and executed plot. I absolutely love Kate and Simon, they are down to earth focussed on their jobs. They give credit to others in their teams, sharing the wins. Kate especially feels that the others all contribute to the solve rate, which I think is why she is accepted into the inner circle so well. Simon's visions also help along the way. The couple also try to make the most of any time spent together and are definitely a match for each other. The plot itself is complicated, interesting and twisted. Lots of potential suspects to narrow down. Great characterisation and working out the clues. On both sides. I'm always excited to get a new book in this series to dive into and just enjoý the experience

I listened to the audiobook. Once again, I enjoyed Kate and Simon's story. The hunt for the killer was intriguing and I didn't come up with a suspect until the middle of the book. I had suspicions, but no motive. I was still a bit surprised when it all played out.

I like Kate's fellow cops, Simon's doorman, and his foreman. Each secondary character adds a nice layer of interest and suspense. As Kate and Simon grow closer, they seem to be very in tune to each other. In fact, I have to wonder if Kate is picking up some of Simon's psychic abilities.

The only thing I didn't like was the teaser for the next book. Now I have to try to not be so impatient while I wait for it to be released.

When Kate Morgan gets handed a new case by one of the team and the team member says it might be one of the woohoo cases Kate looks at her.She says Simon hasn't said anything.Maybe we will have to do this the old fashion way.Simon keeps hearing a woman's voice in his head and then he's seeing her he says I don't know if you are alive or dead she just laughs and pops out of his head.As they find more cases like the one mates working they begin to believe they have a serial killer. The men are tied with a ribbon on their private parts. And it looks like they were part of S&M scene. There are so many twists an turns to this story you will be riveted til the very last page.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.

Better and better. Each book just provides the thrills and the twisted plot lines that Kate (our Detective) and Simon (Our wealthy businessman with unwanted untrained psychic abilities). Watching pragmatic Kate living on her cop salary and wealthy Simon with his "woo-woo" abilities (as Kate calls them) traversing the relationship path is enjoyable all by itself. Now add on murder and Simon getting limited info and you have a great book that always ends with a twist. Believe. I appreciate receiving this advance copy and freely share my honest thoughts and opinions. #SimonSays - Believe #KateMorganThrillers #DaleMayer #ValleyPublishing #Booksprout

I really love this series. It is great to see the growth in Kate and Simon’s relationship as well as the way Kate’s work team is growing closer. I liked the Simon had is own side story in this book that was separate from Kate’s case, although is was still a little involved in the case as well. And wow what an ending. I did not see that coming.

Holy cadoodles.. what a twisted story. Simon going through his psychic visions, and the business issues he's dealing with. Kate and the team of detectives working on solving the bizarre murders. Kate and Simon are getting even closer in their relationship, and Kate seems to be developing some psychic abilities of her own. Another up all night read! Zero regrets over the lost sleep. This novel is worth losing sleep.

This post holiday mystery keeps detective Kate and Simon on their toes. What does the word "Believe" really mean in this story or is it involved at all? Kate and Simon continue to grow and solve mysteries and there are plenty of those in this story. This series continues to capture attention and entertain in a delightful way.

Having closed another case means more new ones are coming.
Jealously comes to visit Simon which takes him on a wild ride of his own whilst having contact with a female. Turns out that female is very active in Kate new case. Another great read.

Kate and Simon are such a great couple, so different and yet they work.
Detective Kate has a murder to solve and Simon and his visions are picking up clues.
I love their banter, Kate is no nonsense and gets the job done and Simon finds her a breath of fresh air as she doesn't care about his business or money.
As usual I love not knowing 'whodunit' or why, them working out the clues and putting the puzzle all together.
A brilliant twisty crime, I loved every moment.
