Mistakes. Betrayals. Secrets that won't stay buried.
Eden Davis thought joining the Horizon Wellness Center study would bring her closer to finding the truth about her missing brother. Instead, every step she takes pulls her deeper into danger-and deeper into the lives of three men as fractured as she is.
Keir, the survivor who can't outrun his past. Caleb, the believer whose faith has become a weapon. Hutton, the scarred enigma who sees too much.
Each of them is broken. Each of them is dangerous. And Eden can't stop seeing pieces of herself in their wreckage.
When a cold case tied to the Center's wealthy benefactor resurfaces-and whispers of cult violence and missing girls begin to echo-Eden realizes the shadows aren't just closing in. They've been waiting for her all along.
Someone is watching. Someone is hunting. And someone will make her pay if she doesn't stop digging.
Roisin (pronounced Ro-sheen) is a writer, traveler, and proud book nerd. She believes there's nothing better than an icy drink, a killer music playlist, and a cozy place to snuggle up with a good book. You'll find her writing about broken people forming trauma bonds, and becoming family. Suspense/Thrillers were her first love, but Why Choose has become her favorite.
Thank you to both Roisin Visser and Happily Booked PR for the arc copy of “Twisted Hearts”. I really appreciate this opportunity and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Twisted Hearts is the second book in the series, it picks up right after the events of the first book.
If you like: Multiple POVs Cult Survivors FBI Why choose/reverse harem
You would definitely love this one! I really enjoyed it as someone who is really interested in the psychology and history behind cults this book really was interesting and it was lovely how well researched on real and based on/inspired by real life experiences and cults. I also really enjoyed reading more flashbacks, the backstory of all of the characters, it creates for sure more of a depth of the story and what trials the characters go through! I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
I received and ARC copy of Twisted Hearts and this is my honest review.
I really loved this book. Twisted hearts is a reverse harem, friends to lovers romance. It's the second book in the Twisted Ties series.I started with the first book in the series and loved it but I think I love this one even more. I can't wait for book 3 to happen because I'm dying to know where this story will go. Every time I thought I knew what would happen next, plot twist! It was definitely exciting enough that I kept turning page after page and kept reading when I should have gone to bed.
We jump back in to Eden still trying to find information about her brother and wondering if he even exists at all. Eden is doing graduate study for Belmont College. When HBO comes to do a documentary on cults, it becomes personal for Eden, having escaped from a cult herself. Eden invested herself in finding more information about the patients and finds herself being pulled toward several different men. Eden finds herself getting closer and closer with several of the men and they find comfort in each other because of their backgrounds and shared past trauma. We have "group activities" with friends becoming lovers but there are secrets and betrayal looming above them. Then there is a mysterious man that's being held at the center that Eden wants to find information on but she isn't allowed to even visit the wing he's being held in. I loved the mystery and suspense and the spicy scenes were on point. There is so much more that I would love to share but I won't spoil it for those that haven't read it yet. Definitely start with book one in the series and prepare to be hooked. Book three cannot come quick enough! If you love a good reverse harem with suspense and secrets, this book is for you! Definitely earned 5 stars!!!
This is the second book from the series. I enjoyed the first one that ended with a cliffhanger. The second one picks up right after. The FBI agent Luke is actually Matt. Eden has trust issues with him as he doesn't trust her. He believes she probably never had a brother named Embry. With the story revolving around Caleb's abusive past, Eden's brother's mystery and other unsolved events at the campus. This one ends with Eden trying to figure out her feelings for the many men in her life. Can't wait for the next one!
This series is amazing! Once you think you have everything figured out, ha! You don’t! & why must we end the books this way?! I’m dying yet again! 😭😭 He better be okay! That’s all I have to say!

Twisted Hearts is the 2nd book in the Twisted Ties Series by Roisin Visser.
I love the reverse harem genre and Twisted Hearts is just that, it's a friends to lovers romance. I started with the first book and then moved on to this one and now I can't wait to get my hands on the third book as I just need to know where this story is going to go from here and what's going to happen next. As I was reading this book I thought I knew where this story was going to be going next, and I'd hit a plot twist and I'd find out I was wrong. This was such a fun and exciting book that I couldn't stop reading and I just had to keep turning each page till I finally ended up finishing the book.
At the Wellness Centre things have gone from bad to worse! Luke was stabbed but more than that he's also been lying to both Eden and Blaine for quite some time. Eden wish's she had listened to Blaine about Luke, Blaine had tried to warn Eden about Luke, but Eden had ignored his warning not wanting to turn her back on Luke.
Eden knows that she's not getting any closer to the answers the she's been searching for, she's just finding more and more questions. Now she just feels more lost and alone as Blaine is removed from their study group. All the guys are starting to really question the truth about Eden's past and if Embry is even real.
Eden finds that Hutton is potentially the ticket to opening doors for Eden but can she trust what he has to say? And will he even open up enough to talk to her? Did Caleb really mean to cause harm to Luke? And is Eden rushing into things with Keir? Eden feels like she's lost and she doesn't really know what to do or who she can really trust as she attempts to just stay on the straight and narrow. Eden knows that she can't leave the Wellness Centre until she can find the answers she's searching for and she's not going to go anywhere until she finds Embry!
"I've had more nightmares since being at the Wellness Center than I have in years." - Eden.
For a while Eden believed that she was making head way in her life and in her potential relationships only to find it suddenly come crashing down all around her. While Eden was enjoying an intimate moment, Caleb came rushing in and soured it all for the entire group and managed to complicate things for the entire group. Slowly but surely Eden manages to lower her walls and slowly allowed the guys to get in and get to know her better. Eden let them in and gave them insight to the dark past she lived and they spoke up and they commented when they had their doubts about anything.
In Twisted Hearts we are still dealing with cults but more than that we get to see more insights into the different cults that the guys themselves have each come from. We see the seductive front with it's glamours words that hides a nasty ugly undercarriage where the real, dark, infrastructure where the real work happens within the collectives.
We get to see a lot of flashbacks that show us predominant things throughout this book, flashbacks that we see have continued from the first book, in this book we have the opportunity to see memories from the guys' POVs. We don't get any flashbacks that are nightmare or horror filled. We see that the guys went through some pleasant things and they are brought to light through the flashbacks. Caleb's flashbacks really helped me to understand him better and his character started to grow on me and I really understood what he had gone through and why he was the way he was.
"Trauma is not a past event. Trauma is your brain perceiving threats in the here and now where there is no threat." - Dr. Vargas
We see that the suspense is jacking up as you are trying to piece all the hints together and figure out what's truly going on behind the scenes. And there's so much mystery that surrounds Eden and her own past! Luke is bound and determined to understand everything and he's coordinating an investigation of his own and digging around.
All of our characters face challenges individually and as a group. And this was something that I really did like. I loved the way that Roisin focused more on the guys and the friendship that they are building. But, she's not only focusing on the guys, it's the way that the guys see Eden and how they want to get even closer to her but they struggle in knowing how to do it.
As we learn more about everyone's backstories we realize that they are getting more and more intense. And we learn that there's someone after X. I love that nothings easy for our intrepid group and that there's always new problems popping up. What I love the most is is that in solving these problems everyone is working together and compromises are made. With everyone in our group trying to heal and work through their own traumas, this is really very healing for them all and it shows us the reader what its like to truly be open and vulnerable. And we all know how that can be terrifying and intimidating at times.
You do need to read this book in order so you NEED to read book 1 before you read this book. But, once you get started on reading this series, you are going to be hooked and your not going to be happy until this series is complete and we all know how it ends. Book 3 isn't going to get into our hands quick enough. I am chomping at the bit to read it.
If you enjoy a great reverse harem, suspense, mystery, secrets, then you are going to love this series as much as I have.
I thought the first installment of this series had me in a chokehold, but this sequel completely tightened the grip. *Twisted Hearts*, the second book in the Twisted Ties series, raises the stakes in every possible way—emotionally, psychologically, and yes, romantically. If book one pulled you in with its cliffhanger, book two refuses to let you breathe.
The story resumes immediately, dropping us back into Eden’s chaotic world. She’s still chasing answers about her brother Embry, clinging to the possibility that he was real and that her memories aren’t fabrications. Her graduate work at Belmont College becomes more than academic when a documentary crew from HBO arrives to film a project centered on cults. For Eden, a survivor herself, the subject matter isn’t research—it’s personal history clawing its way back to the surface.
As she digs deeper into patient files and campus secrets, the lines between investigation and obsession blur. There’s a heavily guarded man at the center of it all—someone Eden is forbidden from seeing—yet he may hold the key to everything. The mystery surrounding him adds a thick layer of tension that never fully eases.
And then there are the men orbiting Eden’s life.
Luke—who is also Matt, the FBI agent with his own agenda—keeps one foot in truth and the other in deception. He questions her past, even doubts Embry’s existence, which fractures what little trust they manage to build. Blaine battles immense pressure and his own destructive habits while trying to remain Eden’s steady constant. Keir is tender and protective, yet carries desires shaped by a painful history. Caleb, intensely religious and shaped by abuse, walks a fine line between devotion and instability, especially when his beliefs begin influencing his choices. And Hutton—unpredictable, volatile, and impossible to categorize—brings an energy that feels both magnetic and dangerous.
The dynamic between them shifts from friendship to something far more intimate. The why-choose element isn’t just there for heat (though the spice absolutely delivers); it’s rooted in shared trauma and complicated emotional bonds. These characters find solace in one another even as secrets threaten to tear them apart. Betrayal lingers in the background like a ticking clock.
What makes this installment stand out is how deeply it dives into the psychological aftermath of cult life. Identity, manipulation, memory distortion—it’s all explored in a way that feels unsettlingly real. The suspense doesn’t rely solely on shock value; it builds through doubt, misdirection, and revelations that flip expectations upside down. Every time I felt certain about where the plot was headed, it swerved.
I devoured this book at an almost reckless pace. Sleep became optional. My phone barely left my hand. The emotional whiplash is real—one chapter pulls you closer to the characters, the next makes you question everything you thought you understood about them.
By the final pages, Eden is not only unraveling long-buried truths about Embry and the campus, but also confronting her feelings for the multiple men entwined in her life. Nothing is neatly resolved. The tension is still simmering. And once again, we’re left staring at another ending that practically screams for the next book.
Please check content warnings before diving in—this series tackles heavy themes, and protecting your mental well-being matters. But if you gravitate toward dark romance layered with mystery, cult intrigue, morally gray characters, and emotionally tangled relationships, this story will consume you.
Trigger warnings are important and so is your mental health. Please take care of yourself and read trigger warnings before you read any book no matter how much a review may tempt you!
So I know you didn’t think I was joking when I said that I powered through this series as fast as I could, right? Cause I wasn’t. I am posting this review 24 hours after my review of Book 1 cause that is how long it took me to read Book 2!! I. Did. Not. Stop. Reading.
Just load the whole series onto your kindle and ignore the rest of the world for 3 days. It will be worth it.
Book 2 is just as gripping and thought-provoking as Book 1. Eden finds out more about herself and the guys she is attracted to. There is more hot s3x. More clues that aren’t clues, I have no idea what is going to happen next but I am here for it.
I read on my phone. I was holding my phone so tightly as the story tosses me emotionally back and forth, that my fingers began to cramp. I loved the way this story made me feel connected with the characters. I saw into their minds and their minds are a bit disturbed. They begin to start to make sense but not enough for you to figure out what is happening. Keir is so sweet but has a dark kink. Hutton is flat-out crazy, the “I will kill you in your sleep” crazy. Blaine is under a ton of pressure to succeed but his addictions hold him back. Luke is tough and smart but his emotional connections with Eden and Blaine pull him off his task. And Caleb is hyper-religious, not really anyone’s cup of tea, but he is so sweet that everyone bares with his prayers.

This is the second book from the series. I enjoyed the first one that ended with a cliffhanger. The second one picks up right after. The FBI agent Luke is actually Matt. Eden has trust issues with him as he doesn't trust her. Things went from bad to complicated at the Wellness Center! Luke's been stabbed but has also been lying to Eden and Blaine for a while. Eden should have heeded Blaine's warnings about Luke. She's not getting any closer to finding her answers, only more questions. Eden is still set on finding Embry, even if the two most important people to her think she's made him up. This one ends with Eden trying to figure out her feelings for the many men in her life.

The second book in the Twisted Allegiance series let me question everything. There are soooo many questions and soooo few answers and if one gets answered 3000 new ones pop up. I love the suspence, the completely new (for me story) and the characters. We are seeing more of the MMCs and the relationships between them all. The cliffhanger from the first book was mean but is resolved beautifully. This cliffhanger is a little meaner but, oh well, it keeps me even more addicted to the series.
I love how the characters progress and how the story gets soo unpredictable. There is spice but it is heavily plot-driven.
Totally recommend and cant wait for the next book.
Please beware the triggers, there are a lot of them
I am absolutely OBSESSED with this series 😍 I can honestly say I have never read a book quite like this. Oh and the spice! 🥵 *Chef’s Kiss!*
We pick up where we left off. Do we trust Luke? I’m not even sure how we feel about him! We are still confused about Eden’s brother. Does he exist? Did she make him up? We are slowly getting more of X. Keir…he’s still my favorite. Blaine and Caleb too! I want more of him 😂 Oh there is just so much!
I love the development of this story. This book leaves so many questions and I can NOT wait for the next. I highly recommend this. It’s just amazing 😁
If you love your romance dark, emotional, and tangled in secrets… this one owns you from page one. Eden is knee-deep in cult research for her grad program, but the past she’s been running from? Yeah… it’s not done with her. Missing brothers, broken memories, and a whole documentary crew stirring things up.
And then there are the men. The Why-Choose energy? Off the charts. Damaged, devoted, dangerous — and all of them tied to her in ways she never expected.
This book is raw, addictive, and full of the kind of twists that have you whispering “just one more chapter” at 2am. If you’re into trauma-bonded found family, dark romance, and unraveling mysteries… welcome to your next obsession.
I was so excited to receive this ARC after the ending of book 1 and boy did it deliver!!
We picked up right where we left off in book 1 and the pace of the plot never slowed down, secrets are starting to be revealed and the mystery is slowly being revealed to us piece by piece but i still cant see the full picture!!
The different pace of the relationships is refreshing and feels true to each individuals trauma, your kept on your toes not knowing who to trust and having to be suspicious of everyone, even the FMC at times!
Part 2 picks up from the cliffhanger of part 1. Book 2 goes into a lot more in depth of the guys stories and why they are at the wellness center. It is pointed out to Eden who is still developing feelings for the guys that she can't trust anyone. She sort of spirals trying to understand why some of the guys are keeping information from her and who she can trust. We see more of the relationships grow both physical and emotional. I loved this book and seeing some truths come out. It does end on a cliffhanger and I need to know what happens next!
Book 2 is coming in hot with a few answers and even more questions. Thay cliffhanger has me needing book 3 asap. Eden is still set on finding Embry, even if the two most important people to her think she's made him up. Things are really heating up with keir and we're getting more backstory from hutton. I cant wait to see where this takes us to next and how the relationships will flourish between everyone.
Not where I thought this was going...that's not a bad thing at all.
This has all the things I adore-dynamic characters, suspense, steam with a plot, and what's shaping up to be found family. Eden is harboring secrets but what's true and what's her mind playing tricks on her. X/Hutton has me intrigued, I'm always a sucker for a protective MMC-I get that from all of them.
Woah this story has more twists and turn than a merry-go-round. Every time things seem to be falling into place something changes and we are back to square one wondering what is true.
I have soooooooo many questions.
I seriously have no clue what to say about this without giving anything away. I need answers so I need the next book immediately. LOL
Another cliffhanger, more questions, more spice, more knowledge.
Twisted hearts is a reverse harem, friends to lovers romance. It's the second book in the Twisted Ties series and is new to me. This story picks up where book 1 finished and it's a pretty good idea to read book one first: Book 2's story revolves around Caleb's abusive past, Eden's brother's mystery and other unsolved events at the campus. This one ends with Eden trying to figure out her feelings for the many men in her life. Good story, looking forward to book 3
I absolutely love this revamped version of Twisted Hearts! We started to get a little deeper into Eden’s life when she was part of the cult and the search for Emery continues. We also learn more about the guy’s who were in a cult lives too. After that cliffhanger it was really nice to see Eden and her guys relationship start to bud even more! This book has you sucked in from beginning to end! With yet of course another cliffy!! I can’t wait to continue this journey! Get your copy today!
Note: I received this book as Beta, these opinions are completely representative of my thoughts on the book and are in no way influenced by any outside sources.
This book was really great and very complex. Things that were kind of confusing are coming together now and making more sense. Definitely want more.
I’m definitely enjoying this series. The deeper I read, the thicker the plot becomes and the more intense the background stories of each character gets. The steam and spice still exists without taking over the story. I’ve already downloaded and read book 3 before I wrote this review. It’s that addictive.
I picked this book up immediately after book 1 because I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. This story went deeper into each character and got even more intense and mysterious. I loved this book! It ended on another cliff hanger and I’m not even sure what to do with myself until the next book is released!
OMG this book is so good!! Eden has really been through it trying to find her brother.. I’m dying to read the next book and find out what happens with Eden and her guys… can’t wait for book 3!! The author has got a great way of ending it on a cliffhanger that has you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next book!!
Walking around and muttering to myself all day that I need proof Embry is real. Taking in everyone's stories and finding the connections is a lot. I absolutely love this journey. I'm excited for the next leg to be released!
In book 2 we get more information about Eden and the other characters. The spice was really good and I'm interested to see where this story will go from here. Intrigued for more backstory on Caleb and X as well as finding out whether Edens little brother is real or a figment of her imagination.
Great book! I could not put it down. Thriller with spice! In book two a lot more information is given about all of the characters, but we get a lot more questions. Great story and great spicy scenes. I cannot wait for the next book. A warning, this book ends in a cliff hanger!
This series seriously keep me on my toes. Watching everyone trying to cope with their previous trauma and their trauma from the end of the first book. There is so much character development happening throughout this story. I am so looking forward to seeing how this series plays out
This book is keeping me on my toes. I’m still trying to figure out if she’s making her brother up. A lot tension and suspense along with some spice. :) I cannot wait for book 3. Cause I need to know more. Check triggers 18.+
Eden is still actively looking for her brother. She is falling harder for some of the guys even though they’re expressing doubts about her brother’s existence. There are some spicy group activities. The cliffy at the end is brutal.
