Don't visit Pleasure Beach...
Characters/Storyline:
The characters were alright, nobody was described in great detail and we don't know much about them, but they were interesting enough to carry the story. The "monsters" were also your basic zombie type with nothing new, but that may change as the story progresses. The story itself was definitely a new setting for this genre, and it did well with showing how rapidly things can untangle in life. Even though both viewpoints were incredibly different, they both did well with showing how scary life can be.
Pacing/writing:
The pacing was good, it jumped straight in from the first chapter and didn't let up until the very end. The writing was slightly repetitive and the tone sometimes didn't fit in with the story, but the author did state they are still new at this and would like to improve so the benefit of the doubt has been given.
Ending/emotional impact:
The ending was pretty heartbreaking and also confusing, not sure what the epilogue was about but I'm intrigued. The main emotion for the first 95% of the book was pure intensity, then the last 5% was the feeling of utter distraught. I didn't expect it to be so harsh but I appreciate it too.
A good start to a series from a rookie author.

This is the kind of book you tell yourself you're going to get through in a few sittings then read all at once.
Constantly changing constantly evolving, this is a great book for zombie horror lovers everywhere. The black humour is paved so perfectly that when gritty reality hits you it leaves a lump in your throat.
The pace never lets up from the first page to the last.
And to top it all off we are treated to a zombie apocalypse, the epicenter of which is good old Great Yarmouth.

Fast, fun and engaging. I really enjoyed this book, a great introduction to the series. I can't wait to see what happens next!
