Die 23-jährige Momo möchte heiraten. Aus diesem Grund trifft sie sich nach 15 Jahren zum ersten Mal wieder mit ihren drei Brüdern. Die wurden damals nach dem Tod des Vaters von Verwandten adoptiert, während Momo bei der kranken Mutter blieb. Der Kontakt der Geschwister brach dadurch ab und die Mutter verstarb vor drei Jahren. Nun begegnen sich die Geschwister wieder, doch das Verhältnis ist angespannt, zumal die Brüder dafür sorgen, dass die Hochzeit von Momo platzt. Noch dazu quartieren sich die Brüder ungefragt bei Momo ein, was weitere Probleme mit sich bringt…
Mein Leseeindruck:
Ich bin mir noch nicht sicher, was ich von dieser Geschichte halten soll. Zwischen Momo und mindestens einem ihrer Brüder gibt es Spannungen, die ganz sicher nicht geschwisterlicher Art sind. Vielleicht stellt sich ja noch heraus, dass sie keine leiblichen Geschwister sind? Ich bin momentan auf jeden Fall gespannt, wie dieses Problem gelöst werden soll bzw. wie sich die Geschichte entwickeln wird. Die Zeichnungen gefallen mir gut und die Story macht mich neugierig, so dass ich sicherlich weiterlesen werde mit Band 2.

Review for complete series
Momo wants to get married - as both her parents are deceased, she reaches out to her estranged brothers who she hasn't seen in fifteen years. Things don't go quite as planned when she introduces her three brothers to her would-be future husband. Neither of her brothers approves of her fiancé - they quickly ruin the engagement and decide to move in with Momo for old times sake and to make sure she makes a better match next time.
Dear Brother! is cute, awkward and a wasted opportunity. Romance among adoptive or step-siblings seems to be a popular theme when it comes to manga and I generally don't take an issue with it. Usually, these scenarios are based around the drama of not wanting to destroy their parents' happiness rather than there being anything unlawful or awkward going on. This manga really walks a thin line when it comes to the awkward part.
It's not much of a spoiler when I say that at least one of her three brothers is not a blood relative. That is of course not revealed until later on, but you can't really pick up a series like this without seeing that twist coming. It's also blatantly obvious which of the brothers the love interest is but will still refrain from spoiling it here. So with one of the brothers not being a blood relative, there's nothing illegal about a potential romance, but there are a couple of things that do make the pairing awkward. Momo hasn't seen her three brothers in fifteen years and the last time she did see them they were under ten. I do believe that is a very long time to be estranged from one another. I find it a bit icky that, after fifteen years of practically being strangers, she meets her brother(s) as a grown woman and develops feelings for him whilst fully believing they are blood-related. Knowing that makes a lot of their early interactions just a bit awkward to read about.
I generally found the behaviour among the siblings, blood-related ones included, a bit odd. It seems like an odd age to reconnect in a way that you could snuggle and shower together - children can do that, but there comes a point when it's just an odd thing for adult or even teenage siblings to do. Momo is also rather guarded when her brothers first waltz back into her life which I find fully appropriate, her brothers are the ones that are weirdly out of line. Funnily enough, I still much preferred her brothers as characters.
I am not entirely sure what it was, but Momo didn't appeal to me as main character. There was something annoying about her and I am tempted to say that it was largely due to her constant complaining and tantrums, despite the fact that I do believe she should have been complaining. Perhaps the whole plot would have felt less ridiculous if all siblings would have had a good chat early on rather than the brothers making decisions over the top of her head. As characters, her brothers were pretty likeable, though, and I enjoyed how different they were.
What I failed to understand was why these siblings were kept apart to begin with. I understand that, after the death of their father, they were all adopted by different families, but I see no logical reason not to allow them to keep in touch with each other. As a whole, I felt like the premise of this story was pretty weak and absurd.
Despite my complaints, it is not an entirely bad series and it certainly has its moments - it's mostly a shame because there would have been ways to improve this series. Around a volume into the series, the actual sibling bonds were quite nicely written and there were some interesting subjects on family matters that were touched on. I did also like the non-blood-relative brother's side of the story, from his perspective at least, it seemed more tragic than awkward and I did find myself rooting for him. I largely find this to be a wasted potential as I think this story would have worked better had Momo reconnected with this brother without initially realising it's her long-lost sibling. At the very least, she didn't recognise him initially and fifteen years seem long enough for her not to know him for who he is. Had she met him under these circumstances, developed feelings for him and only then found out who he is, then leading up to the final reveal of them not actually being real siblings, I can't help but feel that that would have been a more sensible plot.
As it stands, it's an alright manga that's certainly readable, but it's definitely not the best one out there. Enjouji's lovely helps to make it more worthwhile, but she's got a lot of other series that could be read instead. I actually feel rather sorry that I didn't enjoy this one more, but there was just something about Momo and the awkward beginning of this series that kept my enthusiasm at bay.

Cute but it makes me wonder whether they are all really siblings. There must be a foster child somewhere to be a love interest.

Nemu manga ini ketika nyari manga yang bakal tayang doramanya tahun depan. Yang dicari belum kelar dibaca, yang ini malah sudah kelar duluan. Aneh 🤣🤣🤣
Ceritanya standar shoujo, Romance malu2, denial tapi suka, suka tapi sebal. Halah yo wes ngono kae lah...
Momo cewek 23 tahun siap menikah dengan tunangannya, teman satu kantornya. Di hari yang bahagia itu, Momo kepengen merasakannya bersama saudara-saudara cowoknya yang telah berpisah selama 15 tahun. Mereka berpisah karena ekonomi keluarga Momo tidak bisa membiayai seluruh anggota keluarga. Alhasil, para kakak dan satu adik cowoknya diadopsi keluarga lain.
Reuni yang seharusnya membahagiakan ternyata berakhir kisruh karena si saudara-saudara Momo ini berhasil membuka kedok si tunangan yang mengincar hasil penjualan rumah mendiang ibu Momo. Meski hancur hatinya, Momo berterima kasih pada saudaranya.
Membayar 15 tahun berpisah, saudara2 Momo berencana tinggal bersama di rumah Momo yang penuh kenangan masa kecil mereka. Masalahnya, para cowok itu masih menganggap mereka masih anak-anak. Terutama si adik bungsu. Tidur maunya ndusel Momo, belum lagi pegang-pegang di tempat ngga semestinya. Ditambah lagi kamar mandi yang semua orang bisa mengakses tanpa kunci. Adegan begini masih saja bikin geli baik di manga atau dorama.
Diantara para cowok itu, ada satu yang paling galak, suka nyuruh Momo cari pacar, atau tepatnya calon suami yang baik, tapi si kakak ini paling rewel dengan cowok yang mulai dekat dengan Momo. Rupanya ada sesuatu yang mulai tumbuh di hati si Sou nii Chan. Agak serem juga sih karena si kakak kedua ini sering muncul di Tempat-tempat tak terduga dimana Momo sedang butuh bantuan. Semacam stalker gitu.

Apakah mereka ini sedarah atau sebenarnya mereka ini hanya dikumpulkan oleh orangtua Momo karena mereka dari keluarga kurang beruntung, dan diasuh oleh ibu Momo. Tapi ketika perekonomian keluarga Momo menurun, mereka harus berpencar. Di Goodreads tertulis ada 5 volume, tapi yang saya baca hanya 2 volume dan tertulis completed. Tapi endingnya ngga jelas. Ngga ada kejelasan sebenarnya para cowok itu saudara sedarah atau tidak, perasaan Sou nii Chan pada Momo cukup jelas sih, wong dia sering cemburu ngga jelas. Apalagi Momo. Badump Badump teroosss tapi ngga ngomong2. Hadeehhh cepeeeeekkk deehh...
Ya sudah, ganti manga lagi aja. Yang jelas suka banget sama ilustrasi cowok2 bikinan Maki Enjoji sensei ini. Cowoknya hot semua. Ceritanya sih standar ya.

Hacía muchos años que no disfrutaba tanto de un manga 'Shojo / Josei'.
Me ha recordado muchísimo a Marmalade Boy de Wataru Yoshizumi (mi manga favorito de todos los tiempos).
4 hermanos que al morir su padre a una edad muy temprana deben ser dados en adopción, quedándose la única hijo con su madre. 15 años después (tras la muerte de su madre), nuestra protagonista decide casarse y se pone en contacto con sus hermanos para presentar a su prometido.
En el reencuentro todo sale mal, pero acaban decidiendo volver a vivir juntos para volver a estrechar lazos, pero hay muchos secretos entre ellos y no todo es lo que parece.
Lleno de situaciones graciosas, nos encontramos con un amor prohibido entre hermanos (¿pero de verdad son hermanos?).
El dibujo es una delicia para los ojos, y la historia es muy bonita. La única pega que a lo mejor le encuentro es que han querido alargar mucho la trama y en ciertos momentos se intuye el final, así que no sorprende tanto cuando se descubre todo. Pero aún y así me ha encantado.

Après Check Me Up ! et Night Café : My Sweet Knights, je me suis plongée dans le premier tome de la série Dear Brother ! qui me tentait beaucoup !
Je pense que vous avez compris que j’aime beaucoup le style de cette mangaka et du coup j’essaye de découvrir un maximum de ses œuvres traduites en français.
On va donc faire connaissance avec Momo, une jeune femme de 23 ans qui a été séparée de ses trois frères puisqu’ils ont été mis en famille d’accueil quinze ans auparavant.
Elle décide de reprendre contact avec eux à l’occasion de ses fiançailles. Le moins que l’on puisse dire c’est qu’elle n’aurait pas pu imaginer que leur retour dans sa vie bouleverserait autant son quotidien…
Avec Maki Enjoji, je n’ai encore une fois pas été déçue puisque j’ai retrouvé l’humour qui me plait tant ! Les personnages sont intéressants et je me demande bien comment vont évoluer les relations entre eux !
Un premier tome que j’ai beaucoup aimé ! Je suis impatiente de voir comment l’histoire va évoluer ! ♥

Nach sechs Jahren bin ich wieder hier, um Dear brother! zu lesen. Ich wollte die Serie beenden und ich habe die Bände, die ich nicht hatte, gesucht. Und jetzt ist es Zeit für Lesen!
Momo ist sicherlich nicht meine Lieblingsfigur: Sie braucht immer Hilfe, wenn sie etwas machen muss. Ich wundere mich, wie sie ohne ihre Brüder überleben könnte!
Wir werden sehen... Ich habe mit dem zweiten Band schon angefangen.

Die Brüder sind nicht mit Momos Verlobte zufrieden, weil er nicht in sie, sondern in ihr Geld interessiert ist. Da Momo jetzt allein ist, alle Brüder entschließen sich, mit ihr umzuziehen. Aber er ist nicht leicht, alles zusammen zu leben.
Die Zeichnungen sind OK aber ich weiß nicht, was ich mit einer Geschichte machen soll, die um eine Schwester und einen Bruder geht.

Ich konnte der Story kaum folgen weil es oft irgendwelche Sprünge gab und ich nie wusste wie es dazu kam. Alle mögen sich in einer Sekunde und in der nächsten brüllen sie sich an. Ansonsten ist noch nicht wirklich viel passiert. Band 2 habe ich noch hier also mal schauen wie es weiter geht...
