Someone paid the vampire king’s creepy son to turn me into one of the bitey undead. I’m not hanging about to find out who or why. At first things seem ideal in Portlock, I make a new friend and even get asked out on a date. But the truth is, there are secrets aplenty. The paranormal council are at each other’s throats, figuratively of course. But then someone rips out a werewolf’s throat, literally this time.
I need to work with the Sheriff to find the killer, before he strikes again. We just need to winnow through werewolf pack issues, council politics, and more suspects than you can shake a stake at. Simple.
Portlock is a melting pot of witches, necromancers, vampires and shifters, but things are starting to boil over. I hope I don’t get burnt.

This cowrite is one of the best I've read, the authors take a canvas, add the different hues of colour, blend it and shape the image in a vivid way, allowing me to view the painting as it takes shape, one stroke at a time, creating an image I find myself immersed in, wanting to discover all the nuances of the various brush strokes. The level of intrigue, the mystery of whodunit kept me turning furiously and kept me guessing throughout. The tension escalated to the point that I was gobsmacked, shocked speechless! It's exciting, it progresses wonderfully, it captures the imagination, it has all the elements of intrigue, mystery, humour, found family, hot guys and a vampire who's so out of the norm of vampire 'etiquette' and has the most adorable doggy called Fluffy! Love it!
Each book in this OUTSTANDING series just gets better! I love how each book starts off with a punch! There's the awesome balance of serious, of humour, of mystery, of action, both of the heart and the physical, it almost feels like reading a whodunit novel by Agatha Christie! Superb! I spoke about mystery but whoa! Red herring after red herring litters the terrain. The beauty of this co-written book and series is that you're caught up in all the characters, how could you NOT when they're ALL exceptional! You're caught up in the revelations, you're caught up in the tension of escape, and believe me when I say it was VERY intense! You're caught up in a world so removed from the "norm", you're caught up in government conspiracies, you're caught up in emotions and humour. Heck, you're caught up in ALL that's so masterfully presented by these incredibly talented authors. They capture and present a tale with such precision, such panache, drawing one into the likeability of the AWESOME characters, all of whom are stand outs. The attention to detail, the fast tracking plot, the outstanding storytelling, just leaves me drooling for more! THAT is the norm Ms Harris and Ms Dolbeare product, as the song says, 'time after time'!!!!
Mystery, excitement, red herrings, action, an amazing magic system, awesome pacing, forgiveness, romance, this series has it all! Best of all are the incredible characters, who all grow with the series, another mark of exceptional storytelling, which these 2 authors excel at!

A great new (to me) urban fantasy series by Heather G Harris written with Jilleen Dolbeare. This time set in Alaska rather than England.
Unlike those in the Other Realm books, these otherworldly beings (supernats) tend to be mainly shifters (into all manner of beasts), vampires and witches (of many types), with some esoteric magical beings thrown in for good measure. There are no dragons, griffins nor ogres, but we do have demi-gods, Banshees and a Scylla. Other creatures are introduced in later books. There don’t seem to be any Elementals, and the human type supernats do not have to use a portal to the non-magical world to recharge.
There is a prequel to the series outlining how Bunny became a vampire and ended up in Portlock, but this box set can be read without it, as the background is explained.
The misleadingly named Fluffy is a German Shepherd dog. All dog owners reckon their dog is highly intelligent, and Bunny is no exception. Fluffy is certainly not a hellhound, but given the author(s), he is probably not a normal dog. We have to wait until the fourth book to find out what he could be.
Portland is surrounded by a magical barrier, to keep curious humans (peds) out, as well as the highly dangerous Beast, of unknown type or origin. It is strongly advised to stay within the barrier.
I couldn’t put this series down – and read the whole box set on Kindle unlimited with few breaks, including grabbing for it in the middle of the night
Each book has a new case needing the Nomo’s attention. The cases seem separate, but there are connecting threads running through, that are not fully solved even by the end of book 7.
The books are written in the first person, narrated by Bunny, but there are Bonus Scenes available on Kindle at the end of each book, usually from Connor’s point of view, though Fluffy gets a scene at the end of book 4.
Highly recommended.

The most amazing stories!
If you haven’t read this series you are seriously missing out. Read it you won’t regret it or you will because you read it too fast. Absolutely loved this series.

Great modern fantasy
Thank you a wonderful set of books that I think truly rate 5 stars from me. I enjoyed the series so much I can't wait for more of Bunny's adventures. To my fellow urban fantasy fans - try this I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
