I just got out of prison. My older brothers bailed on the empire for women who nearly burned it all down.
That makes me one of the last men standing. The black sheep. The one no one expected to inherit the family business.
But I’ll earn my place.
Only… I didn’t expect her.
Malia Moretti. A local bookstore owner in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I should’ve ended her right there. But instead, I claimed her. Now she’s mine to protect.
And mine to ruin.
MALIA
I keep my head down. Run my bookstore. Protect my little sister.
I know this town is rotten. I’ve seen enough to know when to stay quiet.
But now Lucien Ashwood is after me. Ex-con. Savage. Beautiful in the most terrifying way.
And every time he shows up, I feel less scared.
And more like I never want him to leave.

Scorched Possession is a dangerous obsession, stalker novella about one man willing to torch his legacy to build a kingdom for the woman he should have killed.
Set in a remote Pacific Northwest logging town with small-town mafia energy, this steamy novella features:
An ex-con hero A bookish heroine with someone to protect Obsession, blackmail, forced proximity
This is part of the Scorched Legacy series. Five brothers, one empire, and the women who set them on fire.
Each book is a standalone and can be devoured in 2 hours or less.
I really don’t know what Ashwood brother is my favorite - it’s really between Ramsey and Lucien! Idk it’s the tattoos for me…everyone loves a bad boy.
I low key love how obsessed he is with Malia - since grade school. He knows everything about her…fantasized about her in prison. She didn’t see him being that her nose was always in a book (which of course I love for her - I love that she owns a bookstore) - all he really wants is for her to see him.
She witnesses something she shouldn’t and that’s all he needed to make her his. But being an Ashwood comes with a price and he’s playing a dangerous game when daddy finds out she could be a loose end.
Another action packed, spice filled 90 pages…you literally can’t help but eat it up. It does make me happy that the brothers get out of such a poisonous family but shew they cut it close! I’m so interested to see what Locke’s story will be - being that he’s the most vicious of them all and they all seem scary! Thank you @authorbridgetadrienne for the early read…all opinions are my own.
sooooo when can I have my Ashwood brother? and if I can choose can I have Lucien?
I mean I liked Rowan but he kind of scared me. and Ramsey redeemed himself in his book. but Lucien. I mean he's been in love with the sweet introverted book worm since high school. I am an sweet introverted book worm, where is my Lucien????
Lucien was hot and intense in the sweetest of ways, he took care of Malia and wanted to keep her and her sister safe.
I absolutely loved this novella, it left me wanting more. Much more. I want to know there POV's from high school. I want to know their future. I WANT MORE!
I am excited to read more about the other Ashwood brothers! I am also kinda hoping maybe there will be another novella at the end with an update on all of them. I want to know what happens.
Thank you Bridget Adrienne for a chance to be an ARC reader for you. 🫶🏻
Well, I have a favorite brother. 😅
He stalks her, he kills for her, he cares for her, and cooks?? Sign me up. Also, she has the best job ever!
Scorched Obsession is a fast paced novella and only 90 pages. I recommend you take a look into the Scorched Legacy Series for some quick and spicy reads.
There’s a thick, almost suffocating tension that hangs over Millhaven, a town where everyone knows better than to pry, because curiosity doesn’t just kill the cat here… it can get you killed. Which is exactly why no one, including Malia, can explain what possessed her to peek through the door of the abandoned property beside her bookstore after hearing a suspicious thud. The moment her gaze collides with Lucien Ashwood’s, she realizes she’s made a potentially fatal mistake. Only Lucien doesn’t want to silence her—he wants to claim her. Lucien has been obsessed with Malia since high school, despite her never sparing him more than a passing glance. He’s watched her, tracked her, learned the rhythm of her life with chilling precision. And now the opportunity he’s been waiting for has finally landed right in front of him. Their early dynamic is undeniably one-sided: Lucien takes without asking, and Malia has precious little room to refuse. But as the story unfolds, his edges soften—at least where she’s concerned. Lucien is the very definition of obsessive, possessive, and over-the-top. Yet his devotion is absolute. He protects Malia and her sister with ruthless efficiency, eliminates threats without hesitation, and shields them with a ferocity that borders on feral. His love is the scorched-earth kind: destructive, consuming, and unwavering. Malia starts off timid, content to hide behind her bookstore counter and care for her sister while keeping her head down. But Lucien drags a different version out of her, one that wants, yearns, and demands more than simply surviving. Their chemistry is blistering, and the added danger of Lucien’s father lurking in the background looking to tie up loose ends gives the entire story a sharp, thrilling edge. I was once again honored to be able to read this as an ARC. Bridget Adrienne has captured me once again! She never disappoints! I look forward to her next book every single time! Her stories captive me and leave me wanting more of these possessive and hot hunks of man. Every girl deserves to have a man like Bridget creates. One who loves her to no end, protects her at all costs, and will sacrifice everything just to make sure they live happily ever after.
This story follows Malia and Lucien. Malia is barely living. Spending every moment making sure her kid sister is taken care of after being thrust into the parent role after their parents died. Lucien, who came back to Millhaven after being in prison reunites with Malia….just not in the traditional way. After years of being enthralled and obsessed with Malia, he finally get the courage to take a chance on her…just maybe with a little force. Does Malia get a choice in the matter? Will Lucien change to be everything Malia needs? Will Malia and her sister get caught in the crossfires that is the Ashwood family business. Reach Scorched Possession to find out. Release Date: 11/11/25
This short Mafia dark romance novella packs a surprising amount of intensity into its 1.5–2 hour read time. It’s dark, scorching hot, and emotionally gripping from start to finish — exactly what you want when you’re in the mood for something intense but quick.
What really made this novella shine for me is how consistent the characters remain. They don’t magically soften or change personality the moment the romance begins, which often happens in the genre and can feel awkward. Here, both leads stay true to who they are, which makes their dynamic all the more believable and compelling.
And the sidekick character — the meddling 12-year-old sister — absolutely stole the show. She’s chaotic, clever, and incredibly well-written. She adds humor, tension, and even helps move the plot forward in meaningful ways. A genuine highlight.
And I forgot to mention the best, there's no age gap or beard. 😁
Overall, this is a deep, dark, spicy, and wonderfully intense novella that delivers exactly what a dark Mafia romance should. A perfect pick when you want something fast but unforgettable.

Besties... two words: “Good Girl.” That’s it. That’s the whole review. Okay fine, not really, but OMG this book did something to me. 🥵🔥
"Scorched Possession" is a fast, filthy, and addictive read that proves Bridget Adrienne can serve plot & spice in perfect balance. Malia... the sweet, bookish FMC that literally just wanted to run her bookstore and take care of her sister. Then Lucien Ashwood storms in wrapped in danger and obs€ssion. He’s the sexy AF ex-con who’s been lowkey obs€ss€d with Malia since high school (yes, YEARS), and I was LIVING. FOR. IT!
This novella gave me mafia vibes, stalk€r intensity, and forced proximity tension that had me clutching my Kindle. It’s quick, hot, and left me begging for a full-length novel. A must-read Besties!!!
My Ratings: ⭐ 5/5 ▪︎ 🥵 4/5

I swear - any of these brothers can have their way with me… Lucien is finally out of jail and back to handling the family business but when the Bookstore owner Malia sees his dads henchman kill a man - he knows he needs to save her. He has loved her since they were in school. His dad really is a horrendous man. - knowing his two other sons have left because they have fallen in love - you’d think he would take the hint but he doesn’t and gets his henchman to kill her. Thats the last straw for Lucien - of course he’s Malias knight in shinning armor and bangs her in the woods (yes please) but he too leaves his life behind and saves both Malia and her sister. If you ever are in a reading slump any of these books in this series will knock you right out of it! Love that i can devour these in an afternoon
She is working late in her bookstore when she hears noises that shouldn’t be there from the empty space next-door. But worse than the noises is what she sees. When things went sideways, he heard her sound and knew she was a witness. He knows what his father does with witnesses, but he can’t stand to think of any harm coming to the curvy bookseller who he has had his eye on since they were in high school. With danger on their heels, they might just have to go scorched earth to come out on top. This is a quick read High heat with a man that has been pining for her for years. She is equally fascinated with and terrified of his family reputation. This one has a little spice and a little grit on their way to a happily ever after.

Oh, those Ashwood men. I’m starting to feel bad for their dad… Pfft, not. This is the story of the third brother and the bookish girl he’s always wanted.
Malia knows better. In this town, you mind your business if you know what’s good for you. Nonetheless, she sticks her nose where it doesn’t belong and gets caught by none other than Lucien Ashwood. She knew of him in high school, but now he’s all grown up—and an ex-con. She wants nothing to do with him, but with danger coming, she doesn’t have a choice.
Lucien can’t believe the girl of his dreams is now part of his reality, and that means she has a target on her back. So now it’s up to him to find ways to keep her quiet… and he’s going to enjoy every single one.
This is a super fast and fun read about two people jumping from the pan into the fire.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I’m leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you to the author and BookFunnel for this eARC.
Scorched Possession pulled me in right away with the magnetic tension between Lucien and Malia. Their dynamic is the perfect blend of danger, desire, and emotional depth. Lucien’s brooding intensity and Malia’s fierce resilience play off each other beautifully, creating a push-and-pull that kept me hooked from beginning to end. The world-building is rich, and the supernatural elements add just the right amount of intrigue without overshadowing the characters. The pacing stayed strong, and the emotional moments hit especially well. My only complaint is that a few scenes felt a bit rushed. I wanted just a little more development in some of the turning points between them. But overall, this was a gripping, atmospheric read with sizzling chemistry and characters you can’t help but root for. A must-read for fans of dark romance with a supernatural twist.
This is the first book I've read by this author and I really enjoyed it. It's a shorter read but there's nothing lacking in the world building or character development. Our gal, Malia, runs a book store and looks after her sis (parents have passed). She knows her town is dangerous and that you need to keep your head down, except she heard a noise and looked. Yikes! This brings her front and centre to Lucian, freshly out of jail and mildly obsessed with Malia since high school. Finally, he gets to make his move on her - even if it's with a little 'force' ;P What follows is a very hot romance, complete with dirty talk, and some family drama, before getting their HEA. This was entertaining and steamy and I enjoyed the reading ride ;D
I can't resist a Bridget Adrienne Novella. They are short, fast paced, steamy and oh so satisfying! I loved Scorched Possession! This book had me hooked from the start, and I devoured it in one sitting. The combination of action, suspense, and romance is absolute perfection. The chemistry between Lucian and Malia is sizzling, and their push-and-pull dynamic is so satisfying. I loved every minute of it! I love how Malia is a strong, fiery female lead who will stop at nothing to keep her sister safe, and Lucian's filthy mouth and protective nature have me weak in the knees. If you're looking for a short, fast paced, and scorching hot stalker romance, look no further!
ARC book! This is book three in the series and I am obsessed!!! This is a small but packed with lots of great story building! I love that it is going through all of the brothers. I cannot wait to see what happens next with the other two brothers. This book is with Lucien and Malia. Lucien being obsessed over a girl that didn’t know that he liked her like that. She was in the wrong place at the wrong time and he is protecting her and trying to get her to fall in love with the him!! Love this book, spicy spicy for sure. A definite must read!!!!
Scorched Possession delivers exactly what you want from a spicy novella: high tension, dark intrigue, and a surprisingly solid plot for such a short read. The ex-con, morally gray hero and the bookish heroine create an intense, obsessive dynamic that keeps the pages turning. With strong small-town mafia vibes, forced proximity, and just enough emotional depth, this was a fast, addictive read that proves a novella can still pack a punch. Please read TW. There are themes that are not for everyone.
God this series is amazing. It’s just the right amount of dark stalker vibes without being too overwhelming. And for a novella, being able to pack this much plot and spice in, Bridget does it effortlessly. I loved the plot on this one, love the characters, love how there’s such a good epilogue to satisfy your curiosity. I want this series to be full books though because they’re so good and I need more!
This books is a must read! It’s dark romance done right, with just enough bite to keep you on edge. If you love possessive heroes, high-stakes passion, and stories that toe the line between pain and pleasure, this one’s a must-read. The chemistry between Lucien and Malia is fire! She wants to hate him, but the pull between them is magnetic!
Cute little read. Town bad boy meets shy girl who is raising her sister. Wrong place, wrong time. Will she make it out alive? Will he turn over a new leaf. Dose he have the guts to trun his back on his family? This book had me hooked waiting to find out if love will win over family or what happends with these two.
Thank you to Bridget Adrienne for allowing me to read an eARC of Scorched Possession. These opinions are my own.
Oh how I love an obsessed broody MMC with a filthy mouth!!! I love this series so much! This is another perfect little dark romance quick read with all the things we love!!!
WOW this was a steamy novella with just enough of an edge to keep me hooked. Lucian, the mafia bad boy was OTT obsessed with Malia the struggling book girl. Loved the chemistry, smexy scenes and the HEA was tops. Excellent Read.

Dark? Yep. Well developed characters? Yep. Enough heat to burn the paint off your bedroom walls? Absolutely! This is not a story for the faint of heart. There are a few triggers and there are a few light moments. Put it all together like only Adrienne can and you have one very good read with a lot of depth for such a short story. Well done.
Bridget is absolutely nailing it (in the nastiest way) with these ARC reads.. Literally devoured this novella in less than an hour, & loved every second of it. I’m slightly obsessed with the Ashwood family and need more.
When there is a situation next door and Malia finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time she doesn't know how this is gonna end for her! Really enjoyed this little novella! Lucien 🫠 the lengths he will go to protect his Malia!
thank you so much for the chance to arc read this!
Well well well…. This book was 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I loved how Malia held onto the will to stay on Millhaven for her sister. Lucien comes off as a bad guy but truly he just needs someone to protect and love. Love this book. Such a great story with lots of spice. Perfect combo.
I’m a little upset I got into the series at book three. I loved the story between Lucien and Malia. The stalking was a bit much but the fast burn gave me the instant gratification I wanted. I will definitely be reading the book’s predecessors in the near future.
The queen of fast-burn, insta-love, sexy romance has done it again 🔥 and this might be the hottest of all.. I neeeeed more of Lucien and Malia. 🥵 Thank you Bridget for my ARC!
Those short story keeps getting better and better each time ! I love Briget's story ! They're amazing ! Short, intense, no long dram for endless chapter !
