Mated by Fire #3

Blazing Inferno

Rate this book
What choice do you have when the flames consume you?

Kidnapped by the witches, I’m forced to attend a school designed to train me in all things “magic”. My aunt offers me a deal in exchange for my compliance.

During the week, I’ll learn how to be a proper witch. On the weekend, I’m free to return to my family and friends. Sounds great, right? Wrong. So, so wrong.

Meanwhile, in the outside world, Christian has been consumed by his wolf, my mates are struggling to adjust after the attack on the shifters, and Grayson forges an unlikely alliance to get answers.

The more entangled I become in the supernatural world, the more I uncover about my birth family. What happened to my mother? And how do I go about confronting the men I believe to be my fathers?

With betrayal lurking behind every corner, new threats emerging, and mysteries becoming unraveled, I’ll need to rely on myself and my mates if I have any hope of surviving.

Or I may erupt into flames like a blazing inferno.

This is NOT the last book in the series.

Blazing Inferno
is book three in the Mated by Fire series and, as stated above, is not the last book in the series. It’ll end on a cliffhanger. Within these pages, you can find a badass FMC, possessive wolf shifters, snarling vampires, dangerous warlocks, and a plot that will leave you guessing until the very last page. Please see the inside of the book for a detailed trigger warning.

There is basically only plot in this and very little romance. I hated that the FMC is suddenly at another school (starting from square 1), and she is separated from almost all 7 (yes SEVEN) of her mates for most of the book. When she did have scenes with any of her mates, it felt like the romance advanced too quickly for some of them (e.g., Reid). Tbh, she has barely interacted with Christian at all in any of the three books, so it was a shame he was MIA this entire book.

There is a big plot twist cliffhanger at the end, but tbh, I didn't care. This book kind of lost me a bit, which is a shame because I really liked this series at the start.

Wow

I don't know if I have 20 words or more for this review. However, I seriously don't have any words for the turns of events that happen in the last chapter of this book. Like, seriously, mouth wide open, jaw on the floor! What an unexpected cliffhanger!

Annd I'm done with this series. Really should have left it alone at book 1.

That smut scene left a sour taste in my mouth. Why the sudden use of such derogatory words? Being called a wh*** is not praise. Izzy literally turned 18 a week or less ago. She moved a lot according to her, yet she talks like a 20 something who has gone rounds and rounds with lots of partners. What???

This is a me thing but I prefer reading smut where the characters are over 18. It's just icky.

Can we also talk about her street fighting. Was there a point to all that? A human with no special powers but she won fights against shifters.... There is no talk of her being trained by anyone but she's that good...

I know we are in the realm of make believe and to just go with it butttt...

On that note some of the wolves have no fur because they are of alien origin. So we have a breed of Sphynx wolves??? At this point my hands are in the air but add Grayson NOT drinking ANY blood. He's what 19, a baby in vampire terms but was already a non blood drinking assassin??? Yep had to put my kindle down and walk away.

I think I would have found this more palatable if different names were used for the different creatures. If Izzy didn't read as a jaded 25 year old. If the relationships actually went somewhere. Book 3 people and we could have chucked book 2 into some sort of chasm in some far far away universe and still not missed anything plot wise.

What's with adding more characters towards the end of each book?? I just.....

Face palm.

I keep reading books by Katie May and feeling let down. The blurb pulls me in and I get excited, then disappointed. It's on me I guess, I don't look at the author's names before I start reading.

Sigh... just not for me.

My post is probably gonna have a lot of spoilers so do not read it if you do not want to be spoiled and also my theories on the book and where it’s going from here.

Let me start up by saying this book picked up exactly where book 2 left off. Book 2 ended on a cliffhanger with Izzy being kidnapped by witches. One of them being her mom’s twin sister Delaney.

So if he finds out that they kidnapped her because they wanted to know if she had magic since her mom is this all powerful witch or was. She claims to have no magic and then realizes she actually does. I won’t spoil a lot for you, but I will put my theories in for some things that happened in the book just because I need to talk about them.

So essentially, she makes a deal with her aunt meets the rest of the Trinity and the deal she makes with her aunt is that she can go home on the weekends to see her guys and her family and friends, but then she has to return back to them to go to witch school during the week.

Now what her aunt didn’t tell her about this deal is that time works differently in the witching world. A week or a few days for us is actually an entire month for the witching world. So when she told Izzy that she would only be with them for a month until this ritual that they had to do at the end of it happened, she didn’t tell her that wallet would be a month for her friends and family. it would actually be an entire year for her.

We finally get to meet her other father Travan. Who is psychotically unhinged but absolutely hilarious and I absolutely love him. He’s my favorite father besides her foster family. We don’t really know much about her other two fathers to really form an opinion on whether or not we like them fully yet so

Christian is a feral wolf for the entirety of this book that does not change. Although if you remember the theory on how shifters came to be in the first place in the first or second book and how they used to have the ability to talk to their wolf half Christian kind of gets close to that here. So that’s a clue alluding to something that might happen in the fourth book.

The twins, Grayson, and Reid are absolutely amazing. Love the four of them to absolute pieces. They all love her in very different ways and they’re just amazing. Ansel is also amazing and loves her to pieces but kind of he sits in the background in this book mostly due to the fact that he doesn’t think she wants to be here with him, and she feels the same way in regards to his feelings to her. Soraya the Maiden in the Trinity did drop a hint to him that witches find their mates by kissing, but that hadn’t had a chance to happen in this book. So hopefully we see that evolve in book 4. Soraya also dropped a big bomb on him. Saying that she believes he’s her little brother Bram who went missing 17 years ago. So that’s actually awesome and I can’t wait to see what happens there. I kind of actually love her even though she doesn’t really talk much or answer any questions

The rest of the Trinity I don’t like the Crone. She’s an old hag and very mean to be honest. Delaney, who is the Mother in the Trinity, we don’t really know what her end goal here is. There’s a lot of conflicting stories being told to Izzy throughout the book about her aunt. Specifically one in regards to her being jealous of her twin sister Helena (which is he didn’t even know they were twins, so that was a major bomb dropped on her, especially when her aunt looks exactly like her, meaning that the mother she never got to meet would’ve looked exactly like her as well) she was jealous, supposedly of Helena because she had more magical ability and was set to become the Maiden in the Trinity since the Trinity is for life. When one person dies the person underneath them takes over. So for example, if the Crone dies, then the next person to become the Crone is the Mother, and the next person to become the Mother is the Maiden, and the next person to become the Maiden is whoever has the most power in their coven. There’s also another reason that it was said that Delaney was jealous of Helena, but I won’t spoil that one.

So because of the two reasons that people believe, Delaney was jealous of her twin, a lot of people speculate that she’s actually the one that killed Helena and that Helena didn’t commit suicide like everyone was told.

Soraya also gave Izzy a book that she said Helena owned when she lived in the coven and that Helena found it in lightning. Izzy finally unlocked the secret on why that comment seems so prevalent toward the end of the book. Realizing that it was actually her mother’s diary. So one of the reasons that people believe that Delaney was jealous of Helena actually, it was written about by Helena in her diary. And I don’t know if it was sudden one of the previous books, but Helena was set to be married to her boyfriend at the time when she met Izzy’s fathers’. And her fiancé was referred to as M. Now this is gonna be the one thing I do spoiled because I have a theory.

M is Michael, the twin’s father. When you get to the treehouse scene, you’ll understand why I’m saying this and when you write the ending of the book, you’ll also understand why I truly 100% believe that this is true. It also makes the treehouse scene make a lot more sense.

Ashton, I absolutely hate to be completely honest. I don’t see this man being redeemable at all, and I hate to say that because at the end of the day, I do trust the authors process to write her own book and know where things are going and to make us understand that the book has to happen the way it does in order to get to the end goal, but he constantly is shoving her away under the guys of now when you get to his point of view protecting her, but it’s more of he’s just giving her a reason after reason after reason to understand why she should never trust him and that every time she does, he screws her over. But when you read the ending, she literally tells us that if he screwed her over yet again she’s done and she doesn’t care how much it’ll hurt her but she’ll find a way to break their mate bond. And I understand that he grew up with a father who completely became a different person at the end of the day after he lost his mate and her other husband’s, but he had a reason to go on, and that was his son. And yet he chose to become a completely horrible person.

While we’re talking about that the ending!!!!!! when I tell you, I honestly didn’t expect it to happen. I truly mean that. But I’m the type of person to read an ending before I go into a book just because I have anxiety and need to know how things end and so while I was expecting it because I read it how we got there completely baffles me.

At the end of the day, I don’t think any of you will expect what happened to happen and again going to some things I said above, you’ll understand why I feel like at least it all clicked into place on how we got there or why we can assume we got there.

I honestly cannot wait for a book four. It’s supposed to be out early 2026 and I really hope we get it before then.

But the other thing I will say is that there’s someone pulling the strings and at the end of the day we know exactly who that is by the end of this book. Because this person wants to make it look like hunters are trying to kill shifters, shifters are trying to kill witches, witches are trying to kill vampires, and vampires are trying to kill hunters. But the question that I still cannot answer is why? Why do that when if I’m not mistaken, our villain is a witch

I also am going to drop a very out their theory. I don’t believe Helena is actually dead.

I will leave you on that note. I hope you enjoyed my review and I hope you enjoyed the book.

4 ⭐️/2 🌶️—A good next book in the series. Ends in a cliffhanger like the previous two. There isn’t much that is resolved in this book, so I’m wondering how many books will be in the series.

3.75 stars. Ok. I love these books but this latest instalment had some flaws. The plot is fast paced and interesting, getting to know more about the different factions is great. The problem I have is it felt like character development and relationships felt sacrificed for plot. The bits where Izzy finally did interact with her dads or her mates left me wanting more. I also don’t find Ashton’s reasonings/decisions as offensive as some other reviewers, I think he’s a pretty messed up individual who is always seeking his messed up father’s approval. That ending though. Omg I can’t believe I didn’t see it coming. I feel a bit ill. Especially having to wait until next year!

Lol. I just reviewed the wrong book. This is what I get for finishing 3 books at the same time. ANYWAYS.

I swear Ashton was created to cause me harm personally. And I am very upset about it. I hope Izzy makes him drag his balls through glass. I have a feeling that ending had A LOT more context to it, but I still think he's a major dickbag.

plot holes

Plot holes throughout, the writers voice is lacking(pretty sure using AI to edit due to redundant use of words and emdashes), and the K.C. is bland. None of the male characters are different. Stupid plot twists throughout.

whoaaa !!!

So much was unpacked this book. We got some answers … there was some groveling, some new characters were officially introduced. Travan is my favorite side character. I just love how unhinged he is.

Things got heated, in more ways than one. Izzy’s mates … some of them got their mind right and did what it took to earn Izzy’s forgiveness.

Desiree is on a secret mission of her own and has made one heck of a discovery.

The ending, I’m shook. I don’t think I ever even had a thought to ‘the man in charge’ being who it was. Cause whattttt. Okay, I did kinda but still blew my mind. I only thought HIM bc of one little clue.

Ashton is turning out to be unforgivable, idk what the author is thinking when you have him act like a misogynistic pos in three books he is never going to be able to grovel enough... it's pathetic

I gave the book before this 4 stars, not quite sure what happened here but this was cringe to the max. Maybe I'm just getting old. But the main character being 18 just didn't work for me. She felt childish because she was a freaking child, and most of the characters being in high school was not it. Even the adults felt like they were highschoolers too. I also couldn't keep up with all the mates and what they were doing. Their names felt generic and they blended together something awful. I also didn't fully understand where the story line of her dad's came from either. Regardless I have no interest to keep going and continue reading this series which is a disappointment

Blazing Rivalries

What a great continuation of the series. This book continued on from the last books cliff hanger and we definitely find out a lot more about Izzy’s past in this book.

There are a lot of twists and turns and some new characters added at the end that make you start to question what’s really going on.

Relationships develop further while one mate continues to be an a$$. Conflict between the supernaturals escalates and you start to question who started it all and who is going to end it.

Hopefully the next book isn’t too far away as I really want to know what happens after that ending 😱

What in the what just happened!?

There was so much that happened right there at the end that I’m not sure how I feel.

First of all, Ashton, you better count your days & be ready for the most amount of groveling because you’re screwed.

Also, Desiree, that little revelation was not what I was expecting & I’m confused & curious as well.

Poor Izzy, all of the crap she has been dealt & then the witches just really top it all off with taking her. All of her mates are in their own forms of distress & I really feel for them.

I am so beyond curious how all of this will play out in the next book but I am also so anxious for it.

Absolutely amazing job!

OMGGG!!

Please I need this series to be complete. I normally don’t read series until it’s completed but I didn’t notice this one wasn’t just a trilogy. This series has to be one of my 5 stars read! Someone please let me know the release dates for next book or books! I’m desperately going to have withdrawals from that cliff hanger! I’m so invested in this! Izzy (the main FMC) is constantly facing challenge after challenge. Patiently waiting to see what happens next. (Well maybe not so patiently lol) ;-)

Feeling The Burn

Book three in Mated by Fire is a continuation of the story line between Izzy and her mates. Losts of twist and turns lie within. Who is responsible for all the discord between the magical communities? Where does each heart lie when it comes to Izzy? Protection or keeping the peace?
Corruption lies close, can they figure it out before they all fall to the lies being told?

Riveting all the way to the end. Spicy and dicey. 🔥🔥❤️‍🔥

Book 4 can't come out quick enough!

Izzy and her mates have really been put through the ringer, and so have we, but something tells me Katie will make it all worth it in the end. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the twists and turns book 3 has in it, and even though it ended on a major CLIFFHANGER, I'm willing to forgive it just so I can spend a little more time with Izzy, her mates, and crazy family!

Well. I very rarely make it to book 3 in any series, but most especially in the RH genre. The plots tend to fizzle into orgies and that’s just not my thing at the moment.

But that didn’t happen here. I even finished this book, so that’s really saying something. Overall the plot is pretty interesting. Theres a decent mystery going and everyone loves a good betrayal.

I fully intend to read the next one.

All of that is probably the most important info. So stop here if you don’t want spoilers and complaints.

———

There are some significant problems though.

First of all, I’m a little tired of the ‘every faction is at war and we don’t know who is causing it’ plot. But that’s completely subjective and probably due to coincidences in recent book choices.

Most importantly though, the issue with Ashton… it simply isn’t believable for it to go this far. In the beginning? Sure. Fine. We need one broody MMC to fight with the FMC. It’s a requirement.

But I can’t believe he would be this gullible and selfish. Sacrificing his mate is a huge deal. Sacrificing the mate of the people he loves is an even huger deal. You can’t convince me that any rational human would be so arrogant that they’d make that decision without discussing other options with at least one other respected individual. He’s supposedly following his dad’s advice, but he doesn’t even tell him.

On top of that, there are some decisions that you don’t get to make for anyone else. Sacrificing soulmates is one of them. He saw what a mate loss did to his father.

None of that makes sense. There was zero problem solving going on.

Also, I don’t know why Izzy feels entitled to everyone’s answers, disregarding their own trauma. Her dads did very little wrong, at worst. I’m tired of being in her head while she bitches about them.

I don’t like that her aunt dated her fathers before her mother did. There’s nothing wrong with that as a plot point. I just don’t like it because it makes me sad and I don’t like to be sad. So that one doesn’t count as a fault.

And is Grayson just the worst sneaky assassin in the world? He spends the majority of his screen time caught and restrained by someone. Izzy is at a witch school. At what point is he going to start trusting her to take care of herself so he can stop being a vampire puppet?

There is also NO REASON for Grayson to wait more than 5 minutes to tell someone that Izzy’s mate is behaving suspiciously. He spends all his time torturing himself to keep her safe, and he’s just gonna sleep on that info? Seriously?

I’m not a detail oriented person. I’ll let a lot of stuff go. But this was all a bit much

Good Book!

Hmmm…. This book didn’t hook me like the first two, but it was good. Personally, I cliffhangars that end like this, are some of my worst nightmares. To let it leave off like that, like WTF Katie May!! Two books out of three!? You’re amazing enough to hook a reader without destroying your readers hearts. Izzy is pretty much every readers female lead characters dream. She’s badass, she can fight secretly although that part of her life was really only described in the first book. She is the love of several guys lives. Wolf shifters, a warlock and her long time crush-the vampire.
On top of having a strong backbone, she’s cautious, she doesn’t jump head first, she thinks through everything.
This book, starts off with her being at the Witch and Warloc’s Covenstead. Shes enrolled in which school. Lo and behold Ansels there! I was SOOO glad to read she had a friend there… we get to read quite a bit of his point of views. Hes fallen for her and she’s fallen for him, but they keep dancing around the subject. He feels like he’s on the outside and leaves her with Grayson and Ethan when they showed up looking for her. It felt a little weird to me. Izzy’s only flaw is that she doesn’t think about their feelings as much as her own. It just doesn’t occur to her to see them struggling, nor did she see Grayson struggling in the first book.
Gosh reading Christain’s point of view was heartbreaking. Her not realizing that dream was real for both of them. She didn’t worry about him, or Grayson when she was pissed with him. It also happened in the second book, where she was pissed at him and didn’t think to worry about him after he was taken TWICE! Just makes me want to wring her neck. Otherwise, she’s a great character. Even though she was taken to the Witches Covenstead, she made a decision that if she wasn’t kidnapped she would still want to be there to learn more about her mysterious powers. That little conversation she had made with Grayson and Ethan about wanting to stay regardless of the witches oath she made to learn more about the powers her mother gave her.
I loved reading more about her dads, Travon, Silas and Kyle. Learning more about them and why Silas her boss kept it quiet while she worked at the theatre, why Kyle her teacher (I think Mr Montgomery) from her yearbook class kept it quiet. Travon has been watching out for her since she made it to town. Protecting her. I can’t wait to read more!

Katie May has once again wrote a book I thoroughly enjoyed.

I like how Izzy is a strong FMC who is starting to find herself and discover who she is and knows what she will accept and what she won’t. Not only that but she also is slowly discovering her powers and learning how to control it amongst all the assholes. A FMC I like that can kick some serious ass.

She is still learning about a world that was lost to her as a child and so there is more world building in this book and as with everything Katie May does all will be revealed eventually. So be Patient as I know it will be worth it.

This may seems different from her usual writing because I think Katie wants to focus on the relationships, how it affects each person and how we would deal with it if it was us. Mental health and well being is an important thing and getting angry, disappointed and upset s part of life even if it’s in a story. The good, the bad, and yes the psychotic…. I do love me some Travan and right now not so happy with Ashton.

My favorite MMCs right now are Grayson, Ansel and Christian. I am sure the others will eventually grow on me. 🙂

As with all series more will be revealed and can’t wait and am so excited to learn more especially about a recently introduced character and the action is about to pick up with that cliffhanger. There are a lot of pieces that is coming together now and I enjoy figuring out where Katie is going to take it. Sometimes I am right and other times I am wrong. But no matter what series she has written Katie May will always be an author I will read no matter what because she touch and soothes my soul.

So anyone who trolls her just know she is a dedicated author who puts her whole soul into her writings like a lot of authors. No One said you had to like a story but just don’t be nasty about it.

So Katie do what you love and do best before I love your writing style, your stories and you eill be one of the authors I will read first without any hesitation.

Katie, thanks for your imagination as I know can not come up with some of the things you authors write and turn around so many books in a short amount of time.

I really liked this series, quite literally read all three in the span of two days. I’m upset it’s not fully finished but that was a mistake on my part for not checking.
Really really enjoyed the two books prior and this one was a compelling read as well, however there were a few inconsistencies in the story that kept pulling me out of it entirely.
Like in the diner when travan said he didn’t know izzy existed, brownie points. I thought you were stalking her? And then later on he’s like once you were here I was always protecting you. What about your brownie points that excluded you from her derision to her other fathers for keeping the secret? But whatever, travan is unhinged so I can “grain of salt” my way past that.
But when Reid goes home to a dark, empty house after their date and in her mind Izzy is like, I wonder where his parents are… You don’t remember in the clearing when he confessed to you about Michelle ,the curse, and then his parents abandoned him because of the curse? You don’t remember that about your mate? ok.
Also Izzy saying nothing to Dyson about Michelle and Reid kind of struck me as like a little odd. Now granted, yes, miss maam Izzy does have a whole lot on her plate. But I feel like as soon an ansel showed up with Dyson and it didn’t spark any kind of reminder about her mate who was sexually assaulted and then cursed for spurring the sexually assaulting advances. Especially with the time difference nonsense like she’s been here for a month and didn’t occur to her to talk to Dyson? I was scratching my head a little, like, gonna be honestly that ranks pretty high on the list of shit going on but sure, only remember after the abuser makes an appearance and then not do anything about it afterwards. ok.
And then she drove to Ashton’s house?? Whose car did she take? Does she have a drivers license? Since when? I could’ve sworn the first book had a quip or something saying something about drivers ed. (I could be wrong and if I am I apologize)
But aside from the things that don’t make sense to me I did really enjoy this series and I can’t wait for the next one!

to put it simple, this shit lost me. now it didn't piss me off but just lost me and I truly don't get the point of the two twists at the end of this book.
there was no reason for the big major one that literally no one saw coming. Im just baffled
it has been a while since a Katie May book has left me disappointed that's for sure

Spoiler:
I can't even with this crap. despite being shorter than the first two, it pisses me off even more.
it was kind of boring especially with Izzy being at witch school but it picks up half way through.
it also has way to many cliffhangers on each of the characters.
Ansel and his "sister" and the witch schools earth quack
Desiree knowing the truth about the hunters and revealing that Izzy has a twin fucking brother out of the blue (🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️)
Christian is still stuck as a wolf.
Grayson is forced to be a double agent to keep Izzy Alive by murdering others
Reid is still cursed.
Izzy's dads and her aunt were a thing which is just weird because what is up with twins being a thing in these books?
theres Ethan and Emery, Helena and Delaney and now Izzy and Logan. if I read the fourth one and see one more pair of twins I swear I'm swinging. 😐
and
Ashton's dad is dead, hes a traitor and the twins father is evil and literally kidnaps Izzy on the last page.
there literally was like no signs for the twin thing and the twins evil father. desirees whole plan was to get kidnapped by the hunters and twenty chapters later at the very end she reveals the leader of the hunters is Izzy's twin.
what the fudge?
plus there are just way to many characters. theres Izzy, her seven mates, her foster siblings which is three, desiree, her foster parents, her birth father, two of her mates parents, the tree witch leaders, the vampires, the hunters and other witches. it's a lot and while easy to follow it is cause kind of feels unnecessary in my opinion
I'm debating even reading the fourth one because I'm so disappointed in this. I usually really enjoy Katie Mays works but this was just so so annoying to me.

I had the pleasure of reading this book before some, because I am a REAM member and Katie May post weekly chapters for her paid subscribers.

This book picks up where the last one left off. Yes, they all end in cliffhangers. I like that we got to see a little bit more about the witches relationship with Izzy and her father has more of a role in this novel, but not nearly enough. Hopefully, the next book we cover Izzy’s dads story, especially her crazy Magically inclined dad. Also, the vampires role since they make an appearance at one point besides Grayson of course (wouldn’t mind more about his history either).

Also, the Hunters (major development on that front towards the end…….Mind Blown). Hopefully it all ties together in the next book.

The whole concept is very interesting and I love supernatural romances. In this series we have a variety of characters, we have action, we have romance, we have intrigue, we have betrayal and surprise plot after plot. Sadly, it seems like a little too much going on and we’re not fully bringing everything together or getting detailed backgrounds on some characters. It’s like surface stories are woven in and around Izzy only.

Hopefully it tightens up in book 4. I would be more than happy to span this out over five or six books so that we can really answer all questions. However, as a fan of this author, I see that she is working on several projects and sometimes you have to let some things go unanswered to focus on collaborations and other major sellers. I’m not sure how this series is doing financially, but it doesn’t look like we’ll get more than four books at this particular time.

⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆ Three Stars

The Mated by Fire series has some really engaging moments - the world-building is creative, the pacing is quick, and Katie May’s signature humor and banter definitely shine through. The chemistry between the characters is strong, and there’s plenty of tension to keep readers turning pages.

That said, parts of the series feel a bit uneven. Some emotional arcs and character motivations could have been developed more deeply, and a few plot twists felt rushed or overly dramatic. It’s still an entertaining read, especially if you enjoy fast-paced paranormal romance with a bit of spice, but it didn’t quite reach the depth or polish of May’s best work.

I’ve always enjoyed a large reverse harem setup - seven unique love interests create plenty of dynamics for Izzy to navigate, especially given her young age. But it’s fantasy, after all, and that’s part of the fun.

I also wouldn’t mind a spin-off focusing on her dads after finishing the latest book ;) they seem like they could use some fresh support in their lives… just saying.

Overall, it’s a good read for anyone who loves this genre - I’m really curious to see how it all wraps up in the last book.

4.5 ⭐️ 2.25/5 🌶️

It’s been a few months since I read the first two books, so jumping into book 3 took me a moment to get my bearings… I would say it took me until 30% to get re-invested in everything and remember most things that happened previously!

That all being said, I have been really enjoying this story. It’s got everything I want in a paranormal romantasy - shifters, vampires, magic, plus steamy romance and yearning, as well as mystery and increasing higher stakes. I’m also thrilled that the spice is finally amping up 👏🏻 🤭

In this book, Ansel stood out to me a lot, as well as specifically Ethan - one of the twins. I think Izzy is a strong and complex FMC with a lot of spark about her. My absolute favourite character was actually Travan, though. Holy heck did his one-liners have me cracking up 😂

Also, Katie May always seems to get me with the cliffhangers and dropping huge plot bombs towards the last 15% or so in each book….! She really knows how to keep you wanting to know more!!

I wonder how many books this series will be - my guess is at least 5, and I can’t wait to continue!

3.5 rounded up. ****SPOILERS**** my review is more of a recap so spoilers below.

Since there’s another book to come I figured this one would be more plot focused and not a lot of character development. I wish Izzy had more convos with her dads and got more info on her past. We got a taste which left me wanting more. Her dad Taravan is pure magic? I didn’t rly understand that part but ok that makes her wanted by every magical creature since she inherited his powers. Can she shift? And twin brother? That came outta left field. As for the mates, Grayson is clearly the superior out of all of them. Love him. The twins are fine, no complaints. Izzy needs to reverse that spell on kain or something cuz I’m kinda over the self pity. Ashton… he can just go away. Screw him. Didn’t see the ending coming with the twins dad, whatta dick. Oh! And I wanted more of the foster fam!! A banshee? How fun.

Nooooo

I can't live my life not knowing how our girl will get out of this.

It follows on lovely from book 2 and I was hoping she would have added her witchy mate by now though.
I really don't want her Dad to sacrifice himself to that horrible woman because they all deserve to be a happy family.

Now we find out she has a twin and maybe he just found his mate?????
I think it's going to take them all coming together to get her back.

I was also begging in my head for her to cure her mates condition 😔 or ask her Dad to help her but she didn't, bless him.

I don't know how many more books will be in this series but if it's only one more, we are in for a jam packed treat.

Brilliant as always, just wished for some mates to be added or wolf to turn back into man, help her mate, ect...

Really looking forward to the next book.
Fantastic author. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💗

Felt unnecessary

A whole bunch of things happened in this book, but also nothing. We're where we are when book 2 ended: Ashton is still a dick who hates himself so much he's convinced he hates his mate; every single person in Izzy's circle continuously lies to her or omits information and then she gets a shoulder shrug from *all of them* when she confronts it. Literally grown men who say, "I don't know, we were scared," like a 17yo girl should be cool traversing a brand new world where everyone hates her *on her own* because reasons. Those relationships have also not developed at all between the beginning and end of this book. Every single supe faction is still a mystery; no questions were answered about who is actually working with whom or what their end goals are. No one will tell Izzy anything about herself. There was no character development. I'm really let down.

4.4 🌟
1.5🌶
So we definitely still have a lot going on, while we have debatably a few more answers than the previous book. It's not to any of the big questions.

I am not enjoying how much is just left vague and constantly unknown. There's just so many secrets constantly, and there's always more popping up. (It's literally does not end)
I feel like I need Dr. House in the room just to prod some truth out of everyone with his cane, and it's frustrating to read.

I will still be reading the next book, but if I don't get answers in book 4, I will not be continuing this series.
I can also only hope that the author has already had the answers to these questions that begun over book 1 & 2 becuase I'm telling you now, if you try to just make something up so it fits. It's going to be the equivalent of a "and she woke up from her dream" endings.

We shall find out, next year.

I despise Ashton with a burning passion, it's been 3 books of him being nothing but a horrible mate, a horrible friend, a horrible person and at this point there is no groveling that will make me like him. I understand ever RH has their "reluctant" guy, but there's being emotionally damaged and then there is being cruel to the point of no turning back. He is making choices, deadly ones mind you, for everyone as if HE has the right to choose if the woman his so called friends love deserves to be alive. I genuinely hope the mate bond breaks. Never have I ever despised a MMC as much as I do this dude. I really hate Katie has chosen to bring him down a path I just don't see any redemption from, might as well have made him the big bad evil and not a mate.
