To be loved is something we all long for--something everyone desires.
But for Alora, thanks to some dimwit of an ancestor, she is left with a family to suffer from unrequited love.
Time after time, she ends up disappointed and heartbroken, wondering why she even bothers to try. On the verge of giving up, Alora stumbles upon ancient ruins in the forest, belonging to the old gods of love. An idea strikes; she’ll summon Cupid.
Surely, he’ll be able to help. But who answers her call is not the chubby cherub she was expecting, but a stunning Greek god with a flirty disposition.
The god decides to help find a way to rid her of her plight, but there’s just one thing--the god of love no longer believes in love. Ironic, I know.
Working together, Alora is whisked away into a magical journey of self-discovery, friendship, and romance.
Will they both find a way to believe in love again?

Alysha Everwood is a hobbit by nature, with an exuberant imagination, thanks to the fantasy/adventure films and books she grew up on. Fueled by coffee and daydreams, countless ideas run through her mind, but it wasn't until she rediscovered her love for reading, that one finally stuck. With reading providing her a sense of belonging, she set out to create stories for readers who have also struggled to find their place in the world.
I am so grateful to have been able to read this book as an ARC read. The author has such a powerful way to blend words to forge and incredible read that's a unique take on the genre she takes on.
I want to say this read was light years out of my comfort zone I drifted from my usual of romantasy to this Rom-Com, Mythology read that took my heart! I will say this is a fast pace read but still kept my attention an was really engaging.
This story starts off strong with the relateablity to the real life struggle of finding true love that we all crave to experience.
I personally relate to Alora, She is so tender hearted, and just has this yearning for this true love which I find just beautiful.
She seek guidance and finds herself in the company of not a fat baby with wings but a the Tall, Blonde, and Handsome Eros, who definitely has a little mortally grey blood running through his veins.
They go on an incredible quest to defeat the curse at hand, working together they try to find a suitor good enough to vanquish Aloras curse but with a little meddling by Aphrodite herself their plans seem to change route.
If you love fast-paced, Greek Mythology filled with all the romance, cottage vibes, cute animal interactions and a one of a kind love story this book is definitely for you!
This was a PERFECT valentine's day read! Lovelorn is a novella, so it's fast paced but done well where nothing feel missed or rushed. The romance was swoony and cute and it kept my interest through out! I apprecite how the author talks about finding a love that's more than physical desire and stresses the importance of emotional love, as well. I also enjoyed the cottagecore vibes alot as the main setting. This was my first ever Greek Mythology read, and I enjoyed it. I think it's a fun way to get into that type of genre as someone who knows nothing about greek mythology at all 🤭
What to expect: 💘 Novella 💘 Humor 💘 Greek mythology 💘 Cursed FMC 💘 Fake dating 💘 Rom-com 💘 Swoony love 💘 Jealous Cupid 💘 Flirty MMC 💘 Dual POV 💘 Cottagecore vibes 💘 Greek God teaches mortal how to flirt
Disclosures: 💘 Closed door romance 💘 Mention of passionate kissing 💘 Use of "f" word (one time)
Greek Mythology books are some of my favorite reads, and this one was SO cute and funny! I read it in one sitting and enjoyed it from start to finish.
Eros was such a gentleman and the way he treated Alora had me blushing time and time again, especially her being a curvy FMC and getting shown love no matter her size, SWOON!🫠
I caught myself giggling multiple times, and I actually really enjoyed the breaking of the fourth wall that took place. It was a different take compared to the books I usually read in that sense, but it was hilarious & well done!!!
Also, who doesn’t love a cutie animal companion??? What a perfect touch, especially for the God of love!💘
Thank you MTMC for the advanced reader tour copy of this book, I’m so glad I got to read this!!!
Thank you Alysha for giving me the ARC!🤍 I'm such a Greek mythology fan which is how I signed up for this book and I have to say, it was a really sweet one! Lovelorn is a short novella, which surrounds Alora, who yearns to be loved by someone but has a hard time finding it due to a curse laid upon her by Aphrodite. By chance, Alora happens to summon another Greek figure, who is also associated with love - aka Cupid, who agrees to help her find true love. I really wish the book were longer! I loved how Cupid was portrayed in this contrary to most Greek mythology-inspired works. He was such a sweet man! Would have loved to see Alora explore the Greek world tbh😌
Utterly sweet and unserious, with classic rom com vibes, this was a quick, easy read that made me smile and kick my feet. Alora and her curse are like the paranormal version of the unlovable girl while Eros, god of love, is here to make her dateable. Eros is cheeky and fun but also sweet and respectful, and the duo that is Eros and Dionysus was perfect. Alora is that girl that can't catch a break when it comes to love but I love that she doesn't change who she is in pursuit of love and breaking her curse. I'm a big fan of Greek mythology inspired stories so I ate this up! It was a lovely little palate cleanser between longer / heavier reads.
💜 When the gods start meddling in your love life, things get mythically messy 😏✨ Fake dating? Check. Animal sidekick? Obviously. Romantic tension so thick you could spread it on toast? Absolutely.
I absolutely loved Eros and Dionysus, they were making me laugh through out the whole book!
⭐️ 5/5 — I laughed, I swooned, I screamed “just kiss already!” #Lovelorn #ARCReview #RomComVibes #FakeDatingTrope #BookTokMadeMeDoIt
I enjoyed this . . .truly enjoyed it!!!! I'm smiling just thinking about it. I seriously laughed OUT loud a few times. The banter in this book is fun. . .and the writing style with the narrator giving us lines was perfection 😍 And even better, there's a good message to be learned! I've decided being cupid could be a lot of fun and I'm also going to want the pet rabbit and talking fern! This is a no spice book, so it's safe to read with tweens and up.
This book is a warm hug wrapped up in an adorably clever and cheeky little package. Eros winks and nudges the reader all the while making us fall head over heels in love with him. This story is such a comfort, and touches upon themes of loneliness and feeling lost, alone, and misunderstood in the world. Everwood flawlessly delivers the emotional gut punch moments of our relatable and lovelorn Alora, while still making the reader laugh and sigh with each heartwarming scene spent with Eros. Dionysus was another stand out character with his plucky banter and endless flirting.
If you loved Ella Enchanted, where wit and humor meets the beating heart of the human condition, you'll love Lovelorn♡♡
Edit: just read this beautiful book again. Can I 5 stars it twice?????
