A tiny fib at Christmastime won’t be an issue, right? Executive recruiter Brooke Hamilton decides she must stop being such a workhorse and enjoy the holidays…alone. Well, alone except for complete strangers at an inn. Brooke changes up the festivities by traveling to the snow-capped mountains of Colorado to soothe her grief after her beloved dad passed. Excited to create new memories in Breckenridge, Brooke hopes reliving sentimental moments will bring back her spark, and maybe she’ll actually learn to ski this time.
Brooke reserves a snowy getaway at The Snowflake Inn where the guests are eclectic, the innkeeper is delightful, and the food is delectable. After smoothing over her absence with her mother, she is shocked to learn her mom has met someone. What?So soon? Will this discovery, not to mention their mutual white lies, eventually lead to healing?
And who is the handsome lumberjack-type guy who blows into town like a blizzard? Naturally, the newcomer decides to stay at the inn, but is Hudson Prescott really who he says he is? When a mysterious woman enters the picture, will Brooke and Hudson be torn apart before they have a chance? Oh, and Brooke’s boss didn’t get the memo that he shouldn’t contact her while she’s on vacation. Rude.
A slow-burn romance, this heartwarming novel is chock full of nostalgic holiday a Christmas village, snowball fights, skiing mishaps, music, lively games, and mistletoe. A touching, yet humorous, view of complex relationships where the magic of the season always prevails.

Have you ever told a fib in order to avoid being with family? Well, that's the premise in this cute, sweet holiday tale. It is definitely a Hallmark-worthy read. Brooke has told her mother a fib. She loves her mom, but the passing of her father this year makes it feel overwhelming to go home for Christmas. When she sneaks off for a Colorado vacation, she finds out that she isn't the only person with fibs for the holidays.
I loved the characters, the setting, and the unfolding plot, and you will too.
Wow! Just now finished reading THE CHRISTMAS FIB! Bravo, Beth Carter! Loved the story from first word to the last! It plucked every warm, positive emotion imaginable as I read the story and rode the emotional roller-coaster from the first sentence to the last, with squeals of glee and, maybe a shriek or two. I’d love to see a movie version of The Christmas Fib, too!
I'm not one to read a romance novel, but I have enjoyed everything I've read by Beth Carter. Her novels are always fun and uplifting, even if there are some serious amd thought provoking threads. The Chrismas Fib is no exception. There is a lot of humor mixed in with the sadness of the recent loss of the protagonist's (Brooke's) father. When she tells her mom a fib in order to spend a few days alone during the Christmas holiday, it comes back to bite her in more ways than one. When she checks in at the Snowflake Inn, near Breckenridge, Colorado, she has no idea what will transpire and who she will meet before she sneaks out in the middle of the night to catch a plane. Torn between her job and a newly acquired loyalty, she struggles. As with all good romances, a handsome man who was also a guest at the inn has a role to play in her dilemma. After all, it's not the destination but the journey, right? This book is a delight to read, Christmas or not. It will make you smile.
The Christmas Fib is a Hallmark Christmas movie in a novel.
It has it all: the quaint Christmas village, the charming inn, snow, a little romance, and family togetherness. After the death of her beloved father, workaholic Brooke just wants to spend the holiday alone in Breckenridge, Colo. where she once spent happy times with her family when her father was alive. So, she tells her mom a fib to get out of Christmas at home. But her mom has her own secrets…
The Christmas Fib is like a cup of hot chocolate—the perfect accompaniment to the holiday season.
Another quirky, sweet story by Beth Carter. I related to Brooke on every level, and found myself laughing, crying, and wanting to save the day throughout. The book was also very retrospective, as we approach the holidays, of my coping with the loss of my father. This lovely page turner will keep you guessing, and rooting for Brooke (and the rest of the colorful characters) until the very last sentence.
This was a fun book set in beautiful Breckinridge CO at a lovely inn. I fell in love with Brooke and the delightful cast of characters at the inn for the holidays. Lots of twists & turns I didn’t see coming & not the predictable type of ending I expected. A fun read for the Christmas season!
