Francesca Palmer, one half of the chart-topping country music duo Whiskey Wild, has built her life on the road and in the spotlight. But when she discovers her boyfriend has been cheating, her world is turned upside down. Craving peace and clarity, Francesca retreats to her quaint hometown of Hume, Tennessee, where she hopes to find solace and rediscover herself away from the pressures of fame.
Edison Birch spent his entire life in Hume, running the local plant nursery alongside his sister. Known for his steady nature and deep connection to the town, Edison has long accepted that love might not be in the cards for him. That is, until Francesca, the girl he secretly adored in high school, returns to town, bringing a spark of excitement and possibility back into his quiet life.
When the two reconnect, their old friendship blossoms into something neither of them expected, igniting a chemistry that feels both natural and electric. As Francesca and Edison navigate their deepening relationship, the realities of her life in the public eye loom large. Francesca is torn between the career she’s worked so hard to build and the love she’s found with Edison. Meanwhile, Edison wrestles with the fear of losing the woman who’s become his heart’s greatest hope. With their worlds so vastly different, they must decide if the love they’ve found is strong enough to bridge the gap—or if it’s destined to be a bittersweet memory of a summer in Hume.
- This book was such a fun and spicy small town romance! I really hope this book continues into a series because I neeeed to know what happens with the reset of the characters in their lives. The author really knows how to make you invested in the lives of everyone in the story! - I really was so irked by the fmc because she was making some of the worst decisions but I love how she wasn’t perfect and didn’t always do the right things, but the mmc still loved her through it all. - If you’re looking for a quick and easy summer read, pick this one up!
I DNFd Love You a Little Bit—I have never been 52% into a book and hated every character in the book. Edison was flat out mean and impulsive and argumentative, Fancy was self-absorbed and foolish, Moneice was ultimately not responsible for the secrets she held, but came across as a bad friend, Dalia and Chap needed to get jumped—too much was going on! Moneice was trying to convince Fancy to come back to home/work while harboring a devastating secret that would automatically make Fancy NOT want to go home. Edison would randomly center himself in Fancy's life while also stating that he didn't feel like he existed in her world. Then why are you centering yourself, bruh?!
Sometimes the writing was…cringe, for lack of a better word. Edison thought Fancy's body was "tea" and claimed he wasn't a pick-me; it ultimately felt unnatural and out of place for a man who lives in the rural south without wi-fi. Fancy was inconsistently written—she basically says she stayed with Chap for the D, and then around the time that I DNFd, sid he was a mid lover who often times didn't care if she finished. Around 40% in, Fancy starts to address the reader directly, and the breaking of the fourth wall was jarring. The spice was not my favorite.
Idk, I was frustrated. There are elements that I really enjoyed—a Black country duo and small-town, rural living, families who know each other's tea—these are all things I love. But they were ultimately drowned out by incredibly frustrating characters and writing.
Thank you to the author Kasha Thompson for the free e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
4/5 ⭐️ — I enjoyed this book and the small town romance. It started with a bit of drama ended with a beautiful love story. — Fancy, a rising country singer, leaves her small town and moves to LA to pursue her music dreams alongside her best friend. At the start of the book, she learns that it’s those closest to you that’ll betray you. — She returns home to rekindle her friendship with her best friend Edison she left behind. — friends-to-lovers is born here. Edison has always been in love with Fancy. Their chemistry and reconnection did not disappoint. — Dial irked my nerves the whole book. I also want to fight Darla, because I knew she wasn’t right. — Pub Date: 4/22/25
I can always count on Kasha to give us some great banter, laughs, character development, and spice! And she did not let up with our girl Francesca and our rugged but softie, Eddison.
Francesca aka Fancy is one half of the country group "Whiskey Wild." Her and the bestie, Darla, left their small town of Hume, TN for the red carpets of L.A. Now Fancy...I'll be honest, she got on my nerves a little bit at the beginning because girl...you witnessed something you were not supposed to see from someone who said they loved you and you were making up every excuse in the world for them. I wanted Eddison to RUN. I was kind of with Dial on this one. I was nervous for Eddison because he has been head over heels for Fancy since they were five.
Eddison lives the slow country life (the best life if you ask me.) He isn't L.A. with $18 smoothies and fancy parties with strangers. He's content on the farm and has dreams of continuing working their family business and even opening a coffee shop. Kasha - what's up with that? Future books maybe? ☺️. Eddison was so observant of Fancy and the people around her and I'm glad that someone planted that seed in her head because the people around her did not have good intentions. They set out to destroy her career and most definitely her heart.
Fancy's growth about her past relationships and Eddison's character development when it came to his feelings for Fancy were just "chefs kiss." I love that they talked through their issues together and their self reflections were honest and raw. Eddison was so patient but Fancy's willingness to be honest with herself and where she wanted to be made it that much easier for these two all together. 🤎 This can definitely be a fun comfort read and I am excited about the rest of this series and getting updates on the Whiskey Wild Farm! 🤠🎶 ✨Small Town Romance ✨Best Friends to Lovers ✨Black Country Musicians
A new to me author, but what a storyteller! A small town, second chance, rockstar romance, one of my go to tropes. Edison and Fancy had my attention immediately. She heads home after finding her manager/boyfriend is cheating.
Fancy is one half of the duo Whiskey Wild, love the name. The other is her best friend Darla. Fancy is headed back to Hume, TN, to figure out how to get back on track.
Heading home means she will run into the One. Edison, the one she has been friends with since childhood, the one she never stopped loving. While she left to follow her dreams, he stayed home to run the family business.
I love Fancy – she is impulsive, a spitfire, stubborn, and follows her heart. Seeing her go after what she knows she needs, Edison. Despite the time away he grounds her, shows her the beauty in a slower life.
This is the first book in the Birch siblings and a great series starter. I plan to read them all.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
This book was a good example of distance makes the heart grow fonder.
Fancy and Edison grew up together as friends and he was always there for her, helping her out as friends do but deep down he had feelings for her which were not reciprocated on her part. When she moved away from town to start her music career and he didn’t go with her their friendship kind of dwindled but his feelings never died they just were put on simmer.
When she returns to town to clear her head and take a little break after catching her boyfriend in a compromising position and sees Edison again it’s as if all those years of not talking went away. Now as adults he knows that she is the one who got away and he is willing to get whatever time with her he can but after spending time with him she sees it’s always been him and taps into feelings she didn’t know she had.
I liked the two of them together, I appreciated how they were able to have conversations and communicate when certain things were said or done instead of running and I liked how they were both willing to make adjustments in their lives to make their relationship work. I was happy that his sister got on board too. Overall I enjoyed the book, It definitely was fast moving once the two of them crossed paths and had a good amount of spice as well as storyline.
Thank you to the author Kasha Thompson for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
I have not been disappointed once with this author. This story like the others have limited drama. It did have raw emotions, a few fake friends, and then the real deal was front and center. I recommend this story.
*Spoilers* This book was different with the country singer protagonist. I thought the characters were well developed, especially Edison. I wish we could of seen a more indepth conversation between Edison and Fancy about her being a taker. I don't think that was explored enough, especially knowing he liked her. Seems like she took advantage of the relationship. Overall, good story though.
I rated the book a 4 because I didn't like that it ended with Fancy saying Darla was still her sister and that there's a possibility they could still be friends one day. If my sister slept with my boyfriend and I found out she's actually been the opp my whole life, we wouldn't be close again. Darla had no remorse for what she did. She was only sad because she lost Fancy being a friend to her and the group; the things that affected her. As the author continues to write these books, please do not bring Darla back. We don't want to see her and Fancy become friends again. The other reason for the 4 is because I felt the epilogue should've had more. We didn't get to hear from Edison and I think the epilogue should've been a year or two later. I hope the other books allow us to see more of their relationship and possibly the wedding and babies.
I am excited for the other characters stories but so far I don't like Cyrus or his idea of turning the family home into a resort. At least not the actual house they grew up in; and his talk of bringing wealthy white people to the town. Eventually, that will lead to them wanting to take it over. And who is this mystery investor?
I was sent this book as an ARC Review (Thank You Grey’s Promotion) and I got a late start on reading it but I enjoyed it! It started a bit slow for me but once it got going I loved it!
I couldn’t believe some of the things that transpired for the FMC, her boyfriend, best friend…just wild and situations that I didn’t see coming! But I’m glad it turned out that way because it forced her to see what she had all along…something genuine!
I loved the MMC…a little unsure of himself initially but he quickly turned that around! Basically don’t come here playing games, this is when I really fell in love with his character!
This sounds like your typical love story right? Wrong! Love You A Little Bit is a rom-com about life choices, love, support, generational wealth, chasing your dreams, couple goals, heartbreak, healing and family.
As always, Kasha tapped into our real life experiences as she wrote this one. Love You A Little Bit is the first in The Birch Siblings series. Kasha did a great job of developing each character in this book and I hope book 2 is about Edison’s sister! 🤞🏽
Fancy Palmer is a country music singer with her best friend Darla. After a concert, Fancy catches her boyfriend/manager cheating, and she immediately leaves LA and heads back to her hometown of Hume, Tennessee. While she's there, she rekindles an old friendship with Edison Birch. Edison had feelings for Fancy growing up, but she did not feel the same. As they spend more time with each other they realize they want to be with each other, but Fancy wants to sing and Edison is content in Hume taking care of his farm and running his family's plant nursery.
I loved this book! The small town vibes were everything! Fancy and Edison's romance was really sweet. And there was a bit of drama that I wasn't expecting. Overall, I enjoyed reading this!
This was my first time reading a small town/western type romance book and I was not disappointed.
It seemed like leaving LA was the best decision Fancy had ever made. The people closest to her betrayed her in the worst way but also brought her closer to something she didn’t even know she needed.
Edison was the perfect southern gentleman in the sheets but a freak in the sheets 🤪
I understood Dial was trying to look out for her brother but she was too deep in Edison’s business for a person who didn’t even share the personal details of her own life.
Love You A Little Bit is definitely a story that delivers on all the promises it makes while leaving you to want more! It provides all the small town, childhood friends to lovers feels, while tackling other important elements like family connections, betrayals, unrequited love and more!!
I will say that I did receive this early re-release e-arc to read & review but these are my honest thoughts and opinions about the book!!!
The FMC, Fancy, is a free spirited, “Good Time Girl” country music singer, who catches her boyfriend cheating and decides to leave her life in L.A. to go home to her small town in Tennessee for clarity. Fancy was planning on going back home to get away from all the things causing her trouble but ends up finding love in a place she least expected it by way of Edison, her estranged childhood best friend!!
Edison is a simple man who lives a simple life running his family owned plant nursery with his sister. He sees no need to look for anything outside Hume, Tennessee to add to his life, but Fancy coming back home shows him that old feelings aren’t easily forgotten!!
The love story between these two is filled with memories, comfort, passion, sweet moments and all consuming love. It’s a fast paced story, yet it never feels rushed. The character’s communication is top tier, which cuts out a lot of that unnecessary miscommunication that can make stories frustrating.
The passion between Fancy and Edison is off the charts too! Kasha Thompson definitely gave us all the smut! ( solid 3.5 out of 5 🌶️)
Honestly, if you are looking for a book that provides that feel good vibe and makes you want giggle & kick your feet this is the book you should read!! It’s sweet, comforting, spicy and a great depiction of why falling in love with a childhood best friend could be the best thing you ever do!!
Side note: as a girl who spent most of her life enjoying country living in Tennessee, this book gave me an extra dose of comfort and happiness!!
Okay y’all… Kasha did it AGAIN. 👏🏽 In this one we’re following Fancy — one half of the country duo Whiskey Wild — and her bestie Darla. Fancy finds out her boyfriend (who’s also their manager… messy, I know 😩) is cheating. So what does she do? She packs up, heads back home to Hume, TN, and tries to get her life together.
But of course, small-town living means running into the one person she never quite got over — Edison. And listen… I need me an Edison, immediately! 🥹❤️ That man had me kicking my feet and smiling at my Kindle like a fool. New book boyfriend: officially unlocked. 🔐
This story was sweet, heartfelt, and the perfect blend of small-town charm with a dash of drama. Spice level? 3/5 🌶️ but enough to keep you grinning. Fancy and Edison’s chemistry felt so real and their growth made me root for them the entire time.
Now Dial and Darla? Whew… I could’ve throat-punched both of them 😤 but that’s how you know Kasha wrote them too well.
And can we talk about that playlist? Chef’s kiss 🎶 — it gave all the feels and set the mood perfectly. I also cannot wait to read more about the Birch siblings because this family is giving series potential!
Love You a Little Bit releases November 18th, and trust me — it’s the perfect cozy romance for any time of year.🤎✨
Kasha Thompson has done it again! Two months in a row, I have read a book of hers and have absolutely fallen in love with the story and the characters. 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐀 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐭 was a cute and heartfelt read that I just could not put down.
Let’s talk about the characters. I absolutely loved the MMC Edison. He was such a steady and supportive force in the story. He was the kind of man who listened with intention, and he helped our FMC, Francesca, learn how to slow down and take in the world around her so that she could discover the woman she was outside of the spotlight. After being on the road for so many years, Francesca needed a reminder to stop and smell the roses, and Edison was right there to catch her during the moments when life felt the heaviest.
Francesca herself was such an inspiring FMC. Despite the betrayals she faced from the people closest to her, she never gave up on herself or her dreams. She fought for herself, her voice, and her joy and I admired that about her. Just as Edison helped her during her lowest times, she too poured into him. She pushed Edison, who had no desire to venture outside of their small town, to take risks, to step outside of the monotony of life, and to embrace the possibility of something new. I absolutely loved their connection.
The author also wove some important life lessons into the story. Life will break your heart. But it is important to keep in mind that even in your darkest time, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes, heartbreak is the very thing that will lead you to a love like none other. This book reminds us that we can spend years searching for love, joy, and happiness, not realizing that it was right in front of us the whole time. Francesca and Edison’s journey to that realization was such a joy to see.
Overall, this was a sweet and hopeful story about healing, rediscovering oneself, taking chances, and choosing love. I absolutely recommend this read and I cannot wait for Dial and Ozzie’s story in book two.

Thank you for the ARC of Love You A Little Bit! I just finished Love You A Little Bit by indie author Kasha Thompson, the first in the Birch Siblings romance series. This one follows Francesca “Fancy” Palmer, a rising country music star who’s based in LA but originally from the small town of Hume, Tennessee. After catching her boyfriend-slash-manager cheating, Fancy decides to take a break from the chaos of LA and heads back home to Hume. There, she reconnects with childhood friend Edison “Eddie” Birch—who never left town—and as expected, sparks fly. They rekindle their friendship and start a romance, and Fancy starts to rethink her future—career, love, and all. Now, the good: this was a solid read. I found myself laughing out loud more than once thanks to the dialogue—it felt natural and funny. I loved the small-town setting; it was really present throughout the story and created a nice contrast to Fancy’s big-city life. From the festival to the bar to the ever-present hometown gossip, it all added to the charm. Also, the spice? Great. The sex scenes were romantic and steamy—though I’ll admit, some of the dialogue during those moments veered into cringy territory. Still, they were fun. The plot and the drama were probably my favorite parts, even if I was metaphorically yanking my hair out or rolling my eyes every few chapters. I didn’t mind the music element since it’s right there in the synopsis—so I was prepared. Where it lost me a bit: the characters. I just didn’t find them that likable. A lot of them were wishy-washy, kind of rude, and some were flat-out nosy, but not in a fun way. Edison’s older sister, Dial, especially—if there’s a book about her, I don’t know if it’ll be for me. And the romance? For a story that’s supposed to be centered on it, I couldn’t really get behind Fancy and Edison’s connection until the very end, when they finally started having fun text exchanges. Most of the relationship felt like sex with very little actual reconnection. Sure, they had a childhood friendship, but they hadn’t spoken in years—they didn’t really know the grown-up versions of each other. It just moved too fast for me. All in all, this is a quick, fun Black romance that’s easy to fly through. If you’re into small-town settings, childhood friends-to-lovers, and a bit of a country music twist, this one might be worth checking out.
I hated this, lol. It’s a shame because I loved this author’s other work, Last Night A DJ Saved My Life. It may just be my personal bias speaking, but there was too much suspension of disbelief going on for me. The story takes place in a town in the south with a population of less than 4,000 people. My grandmother lived in a town in the south with less than 5,000 people and I spent many summers, holidays, and weekends there. You know what most southern towns of this size don’t have? Thriving movie theaters, multiple successful clubs and bars, a plant nursery worth $10 million, the ability to turn a family home into a multimillion dollar investment property. All things found in this book. It was just such an unbelievably rosy picture of what small town living is like without any discussion of drawbacks.
I also didn’t like the couple. The MMC Edison placed the FMC Fancy upon a pedestal she didn’t ask to be placed on, and got angry with her whenever she behaved like an actual person. There were several moments in the book where he called her some derivative of “selfish” yet she was always the one running to him and apologizing. I also hated that she changed her entire life to make this relationship work, and he didn’t have to make any concessions. It’s written that everything in her life as a music star is awful, so that everything with him looks beautiful in comparison. I hate a romance where the partners aren’t equally yoked so to speak. Everything in the relationship was tipped in Edison’s direction. I know this book series is about Edison and his siblings, but Fancy is the standout here.
Lastly, don’t get me started on the sex scenes. The dialogue was so cringey. At one point Fancy refers to her lady parts as a “honey pot.” Then there’s Edison saying Fancy’s “body is tea” and later describing himself as “not a pick me.” Give me a break.
This hurt me so bad that I don’t know if I’ll read anything else from this author.
Love you a little bit? That tracks, because there's only a little bit going on here.
Fancy Palmer, one half of the country music duo Whiskey Wild, is enjoying her life on the road and in the spotlight, till she walks in on her boyfriend (and manager) cheating on her. Discussing it with no one, she runs home to the small town of Hume, Tennessee where she grew up. Edison Birch only ever left Hume to go to college, then immediately came back. He and Fancy we're great friends all through their childhood, and he's still holding a candle for her, all these years later.
Y'all, I really wanted to like to one, but it was a miss for me. The "it's always been you" trope for Edison honestly came off as toxic and not romantic. The two kissed once at age 12, then they were only ever friends. He has feelings the entire time, never speaks up, I didn't get the impression she really felt the same about him back then.
Fancy is also a taker. The world is out to get her, woah is her, and all that. Multiple characters call her out for being a taker, she never does any introspection to see why that may be. She's also incredibly impulsive and doesn't really thing about others. While I understand she was upset to find her boyfriend cheating, she ran away, without talking to her best friend and the other member of Whiskey Wild, leaving that girl to figure everything out, then got pissy when that's exactly what happened.
These two also never have an actual conversation of importance. As soon as Edison says something like "hey, we should really talk about the future here" she goes, "or we could have sex" it happens every single time, then I'm expected to believe they're in love and changing their lives for one another.
I don't see this couple surviving past the epilogue. ⭐2½⭐
THEMES: Childhood best friends to lovers, No 3rd act break up, Famous FMC, Small Town, He Falls First
This is the first book in an interconnected standalone series following siblings.
I will say it did take a little bit to first get into the book because there were some small things the two main characters did that annoyed me in the beginning but once I got into it, I really enjoyed their story.
Now after the little hiccups in the beginning, I really enjoyed the rest of the book. The characters had their insecurities when it came to their relationship but they never let it get in the way of their relationship. I felt like they communicated really well with each other and were very honest and open. I loved how they handled all the hurdles that came their way.
It was a bit instalove for me because when they got together things moved very fast, but they had known each other their entire lives so it was more understandable and I wasn't really bothered by it. Despite it feeling very instalove, I still felt like it was very believable because I think the author did a good job of showing us through their inner monologues and their actions why they loved each other. It felt authentic and real.
The issues I had in the beginning were minor but were just things that personally annoyed me.
With the MMC, he had a girl he was seeing at the beginning of the book who for him was just a casual hook up but for the girl it meant more. I don't like that he continued a relationship with this girl for around a year knowing that she wanted more and he didn't. I think he should've ended things the second he knew she wanted more. He was at least honest with her about not wanting to be serious and she still chose to be with him but I still don't agree with him continuing to see her. He also told her he didn't want anything serious but then the second the FMC came back to town he basically shacked up with her and soon after made it know to the whole town that they were dating so I felt like it was wrong for him to kind of string her along when he knew that he would only be willing to truly be with the FMC. I just overall didn't like how he handled that situation. This probably won't bother other people but for me it wasn't a great first impression of the MMC.
Then with the FMC, what annoyed me was that she was contemplating getting back with her cheating boyfriend. I personally don't fuck with cheaters so that was a no go for me. I don't condone cheating, so I don't want to read about the main characters in the books I'm reading contemplating about taking a cheater back. This was just a personal gripe for me, it might not bother other people.
I also didn't like the weird sexual analogies throughout the book. Eg. "It was like Edison was mining for gold in my honeypot". They made me cringe and it happened a few times throughout the book.
Overall, this was a really sweet story and I loved how the couple handled everything in their relationship. I also really enjoyed the humour throughout the book and the banter between the main characters.
Thank you to Grey's Promotions and Kasha Thompson for this ARC
Not my first cowboy romance but definitely my first Black one. I was so excited for this book because not only do I love Kasha Thompson, I love tanner adell & was so excited for this ARC. This book did not disappoint. It was funny & very much black. My favorite things.
I don’t have much to complain about but the reason the book got moved down from a five star is because it moved so freaking fast—honestly I feel like I’ve said that about the last few books by Ms. Thompson. This book easily could have been an extra 50-100 pages so we can see the MCs get to know each other more. I’m not even mad at how quickly they had sex but the relationship just moved so fast. I think if Wild Whiskey would have announced a tour at the end of their dessert performance, it would have given the MCs at least three months (up to six) together instead of one & it would have made the story more flushed out. I also think the first sex scene was a little cringey.
Minor details but I was surprised no one went to church in this book. As a southern girl from a small town, coming home—especially if I was a big star who started in my church choir—going to at least one service would be required. These people are in the Bible Belt so that was odd to me. SPOILER BELOW
I also wish Edison would have called Dial out for telling Fancy to stay away.
Predictions for the other siblings’ books: Oz & Dial will work things out & get back together in Dials book. Cyrus’s love interest is definitely the investor to buy their parents home & I think (hope) it’s a male

ARC Review: Fancy is a famous country singer on tour; but all the fame in the world doesn’t stop her ex from cheating. Hurting and lost, she returns to her small town to reconnect with her roots, and Edison—the boy that was always there for her, now grown into a man.
I love that Fancy is a Black woman paving her own way in the country music world alongside her best friend. Your heart breaks from the absolute disrespect for her from her scummy ex (as well as those that are supposed to be in her corner). This book gets real in that that ending a relationship isn’t always black and white even when it’s justified; that lives are entangled and feelings still exist after betrayal. It’s honestly so refreshing to see Fancy work through such a complex situation and choose herself at the end. Edison is such a sweet man. He is closed off at the start—he just can’t settle, and the more things change around him, the more stuck he feels. Being near Fancy opens up some raw wounds; he doesn’t always get it right, but he’s graceful in learning how to be better. There’s quite a bit of humor here to balance the heavy which makes for a fun time (the “ruin my credit score” line had me cracking up and will live with me forever.) Overall, this story is sweet and grounded, and makes for a great read.
Love You a Little Bit is a sweet & funny childhood friends-to-lovers romance set in a small town, & I really enjoyed it. Edison had me asking, “Do I need a country boy?” because whew — he was everything. 🥵 Fancy & Edison’s chemistry & banter kept me hooked, & the humor throughout the book was perfect.
I loved that the story centered around a Black country artist & took place in a Black small town. The cultural vibes were everything, & the playlist at the beginning featuring Black country artists was such a unique, thoughtful touch.
Dial frustrated me at times, but her protectiveness made sense, & I’m excited for her story next. I’m also very curious about Cyrus — he’s a whole mystery. I also appreciated that there wasn’t any over-the-top animosity between Willa (Edison’s former FWB) & Fancy. Willa had every right to be hurt, but the story avoided unnecessary drama, & I hope she gets her own happy ending.
Overall, this was a charming read with great vibes, heart, & humor.
I received this as an ARC from Grey’s Promotion & Ms. Thompson. All opinions are my own. Thank you so much, Ms. Thompson for the opportunity!
Trope: Friends to lovers , Small town romance Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ General thoughts : An enjoyable small town romance read. I do believe this is the spiciest book, I have read by Kasha Thompson.
Book review : Edison and Fancy have know each other since they were 5 years old. Their siblings dated each other and have a child together. So they are connected not just by friendship but extend family ties too
Edison has always had feeling for Fancy, but just could derail her from the journey of becoming a country singer and superstar. He kept his feels from her , hurting himself in the long run. Now that Fancy has returned to Hume after catching her band manager and boyfriend cheating.
Returning to Hume doesn’t only help Fancy resolve her heartbreak but also allows her to embark on a love journey that was always meant to be .
Will Edison and Fancy have an happily ever after? Read this story to find out !
How do you sacrifice love, family, AND your whole community to chase your dreams… just for your “best friend” to reveal themselves as a full-blown snake?! 🤬
But honestly, this story wasn’t just about standing on business … it was about finding your way back to yourself. Yes, it’s a second-chance romance, but Fancy needed every ounce of that drama and chaos to rediscover who she really was.
Now let’s talk about the MMC …Edison was living that slow, intentional lifestyle …and with a green thumb?! Something about those country men I tell ya! lol Sometimes we are moving so fast we forget to appreciate the small, simple moments. He was a whole reminder to breathe and grow at your own pace.
Now… Dial. She was not my favorite, but I can understand her wanting to protect her brother and wanting the best for him. Still… I’m patiently (and nosily) awaiting her and Ozzie’s book because I know there’s still hope, tension, and love lingering between them. 👀
I’ve been on the hunt for cowboy/western stories featuring Black folks as the main characters, and my girl Kasha came through with this gem of an ARC!
This is the story of Fancy, a small-town girl who made it big with her bestie Darla in their group Wild Whiskey (obsessed with this name btw)—leaving their quiet town (and some people) behind. Meanwhile, her other best friend, Edison, stayed back home nursing feelings for her that he never quite shared.
After a devastating discovery, Fancy finds herself back home, reconnecting with Edison, and let me tell you—their journey on those old country backroads is packed with drama, love, spice, and a whole lot of realizations.
This book was everything—cute, spicy, and laugh-out-loud funny. I couldn’t put it down and devoured it in 36 hours! Highly recommend!
Ladies put your boots on cause we’re headed to Hume! If you haven’t met Fancy and Edison, let this be your sign to pick this book up. I loved everything about the coupling of these old time friends. Kasha Thompson did an amazing job of showing the reality of life and love. The journey of Edison and Fancy’s reconnection was such a joy to read. I loved the layers of their story and I truly appreciated the way the author had them navigate their feelings when it came to things of the past and their current standing with one another. I feel like so many things played a role in their journey from personal dealings to family and it wasn’t ignored.
If you’re looking for a great small town romance where the characters are lovable and witty look no further!
Miss Kasha Thompson has done it again ladies and gents. Wow.
Thank you so much to Kasha Thompson for sending me this ARC!!
The emotional depth that this book has is still sticking with me a few days later, and i am still speechless about it. I lovedddd Fancy and Edison omg. Fancy standing on business instead of being one of those annoying FMC's who is shaky in what she stands for was SOOOOO refreshing. She said fool me once? Cute I'm done. LMAOOOOOO. Like IKTRRR!!!! Darla and Chap can kick rocks for real. Then the way this ended?? UGH!!!! Wow. Small town, country, musician will win me over everytime honey whew. Then Edison??? WHEW YESSSSSS SIRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
Then the sneak peak of Dials book at the end? Oz? Yeah i need him immediately. Need that book to hit my inbox QUICKKKK!
Highly recommend if you are looking for something that sucks you in until the last page with a lot of emotional depth. WHEW!
no this was sooooo good. like SO good. i read one other kasha thompson book before but THIS? the DETAIL? honey! i thoroughly enoyed myself. the drama? the descriptive writing? the damn plot?
a few things i loved:
1. the sibling banter between dial & edison 2. how free spirited francesca was 3. the descriptions of hume & popular small town areas. the way they looked, the way the places made you feel, etc. 4. the text conversation when fancy was on tour 5. edison
open thoughts:
- what happened between oz & dial? - fuck chap & darla’s trifling asses. that girl said “and the heart kind wants what it wants.” well darla i’d like to whoop your ass. - as someone with her own friends to lovers story that moved pretty fast i ate this up.
wow that was so goood. kasha i need book 2. is it dial’s book? say yes pls
I truly enjoyed this black country, small town, superstar and hometown boy romance. There was so much history between Eddison & Fancy that resonated with me. It made the friends to lovers romance even more enjoyable.
The spice in this book….my goodness!! Y’all know I love me some spice so this was definitely a treat! Eddison and Fancy were getting down, okay!!
I loved it but I’m not sure if it is something I would recommend; and that’s only because there wasn’t much heartfelt or deep moments. It didn’t really make me think outside of the romance. It was just a really good love story that made me feel giddy!
This is my third book by Kasha and she never disappoints!!!
