Beyond the edge of the world, Darkness bides its time. Only power and strength can fight it, not a simple girl.

THE LORD OF THE CLANS is a stand alone but takes place in the same world as BLADE HEART, a few months after BLADE HEART.
Welcome to Chris Lange's fantasy world where she lives most of the time. She loves alpha males, badass bikers, sensitive men, hot vampires, angels, demons, cowboys, cops, ghosts, knights, kings and the Winchester brothers. When not writing, reading or listening to classic rock, she can be found watching Supernatural. Chris Lange is a dreamer and a storyteller. She writes about love, love, love, and sometimes she leaves her characters' bedroom door open.
Ariana, is a healer, and was sent by her mentor, on a mission, to find and heal her aunt who is ill. but on her way, she gets lost and ends up being captured. Her captor is none other than the infamous Lord of the Clans, a man that leads his people with strength and determination and no one crosses him. But upon meeting him she learns that he is so different than what she ever imagined. Cameron, is intrigued by Ariana, and he senses her honesty and how genuine she is. But only when they face the coming danger together that could destroy their world, will they be able to conquer it and find the most exquisite passion ever known.
I found this one through goodreads, and I just bought it and read it and loved it. There was so much to this story that was amazing and sensational. It has been quite a while since I have read a fantasy themed romance, and I will say that Chris Lange has outdone herself. This is technically a erotic romance, but to frank I think it should be more in the romance fiction, because even though there are quite a few steamy scenes, there was such a focus on the romantic relationship and the plot was quite substantial and balanced in a way that enthralls its readers from the beginning.
What I really loved about this story was how this romance developed and at the same time has a plot that is driven with complexities and unique settings and this author is quite talented with setting up her world building. I had no hard time understanding the circumstances of the story, and I was captivated by the story line and the way that Ariana and Cameron come together. There is also quite a level of suspense and magical elements that are through the story with a strong fist, but not overly strong...I felt like it was just RIGHT! And there were some scenes that were pretty hilarious, and oh my goodness, did I have such a fun ride with this story...there were so many things that I loved about it. I definitely need to read this author more, and I love finding a new author and one that sends thrills down your spine from beginning to end. I wish I could write a better review for how much I adored this romance, but I find myself having a difficult time organizing all my thoughts and perceptions of what I felt while reading this is a bit...scattered. But I highly recommend anyone who loves a exciting romance, this is a story you have to try out! A Provocative and passionate story of love, magic, and thrills. BRAVO!!
What an amazing read! I needed a fantasy, just to mix things up. This was a beautiful surprise. I LOVED this! Thank you, Anne, for the recommendation!
Ariana, a healer on her way to see her Aunt, lost her way and came across the legendary and larger than life Lord of the clans, Lord Cameron. Having impressed him with her healing powers, he decided to be her guide to where her Aunt lives, since she doesn't seem to be the best with directions. Their journey was filled with adventure, twists, fun and magic. Plus intense chemistry. This was one HOT read! Sizzling! I loved Cameron for his possessiveness, protectiveness, playfulness and intensity. Ariana was a great heroine, too. Feisty, bold, brave and passionate. She learned unbelievable things about herself and took things in stride. She was the perfect match for the formidable Lord of the clans.
“Say you love me, flower, because I love you so much that my soul cries. You’re as beautiful as an angel from the ethers, and my cock aches each time I look at you. I fear losing you every damn fucking moment, but I can’t help myself. Say you’ll always be faithful to me. I want to plant my seed deep inside your hot body. I want to give you strong children, and raise them with you. Whatever happens, I need you beside me at my table and in my bed."
The ending was PERFECTION. Left me with a happy and contented feeling. SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL. This was exactly what I needed. I just wish we'll read more about this world. I'm quite interested in the leader of the resistance. Hope to read about him soon.
Where to begin... I'll start off with the simple fact that I LOVED IT! The Lord of the Clans is exciting, sexy, fun, funny and a whole lot more just ass Chris Lange always gives her readers. You get romance, action, adventure and so many unexpected twists your head spins in awe! What you have here is an excellent story, with excellent characters that will stick with you long after you've read the last line. Bravo once again! I recommend it to all that are a fan of the genre.
2.5 stars because that whole switching bodies and then having sex with each other really weirded me out. Apparently that kind of kink is just a step to far for me? Lol who knew? Also this is suppose to be a historical fantasy and there was tons of modern day lingo and it really took me out of the world when I was reading.
I have never read a book by Chris Lange so I really didn't know what to expect. It didn't take too long to find out how HOTT this book was.
Ariana is a young, naive girl. On her way to her Auntie's house, she is kidnapped by the Lord of the Clans men. When he arrives to see who his crew had cuffed up in the dungeon, he sees a beautiful girl, Ariana. Ariana is almost like.... O.M.G... look at this hottie!
So, *smirking*, it didn't take long for Ariana to fall for Cameron. I mean, how can you not when a fine ass, sexy man is standing in front of you. This hunk of a man definitely had mojo. He turned me on. LOL. I mean, Ariana couldn't even keep her hands off the man on the first night. Totally irresistable!!
I loved that the book told a story of a young healer who meets a great leader. They take this adventure to find the young healer's aunt to aid in her illness, but it was a lie from the young healer's shaman. She was sent off on this mission for a reason. During this adventure, they are some great fights, I mean, good ass whooping fights, meeting some naked girls at a brothel, walking into a room of horny men, having the best sex of your life moments, being consumed by the Ancients on a mission to find necessary keys for the big fight, and just the dangers of travel to other lands and kingdoms.
I would have rated this a 5 star book, but I felt I was cheated when Ariana faced the Darkening. I felt like this battle didn't last long enough before she embraced her true self. All in all, I really liked this book - like A LOT!
So I got this a few days ago and I decided to give it some time before I reviewed. I wanted to see how much of it I remembered because I love to see what is memorable. I actually remember quite a bit of it and I think that is good. I will start out by saying that this is erotica 100%, but there is actually a plot. There is a set up government and back story and I liked that. I felt like there was enough build up between two characters to make it believable and I felt the main character was somewhat developed. I would have liked the book to be drawn out into two books where the action could have been more developed but I understand for the purpose of this book that it was necessary to condense it down. Overall I enjoyed the book it is very hot and well written and so it worked. I should mention that I got this book for free for a review but I think I actually would have bought it without getting it for free.
This book was not what I expected. It was different and I really liked it.
I loved Cameron, Lord of the Clans. He's arrogant but still a dream come true. Ariana was sometimes a little too naive for my taste but not so much to really bother me. I think they are perfect for eachother. The chemistry between them was sparkling.
The plot is interesting and it kept me on my toes. It sure isn't predictable. It was funny, and intriguing, and it has romance and some action... everything that a good story should have. There was only one scene I couldn't wrap my head around - That bothered me and I didn't find sexy at all but otherwise I really enjoyed this book.
I was given this book for an honest review !!! I was surprised that I did enjoy this story as it is not usually the genre I read, there is a lot going on in this story and you can't help but get hooked and wonder what is going to happen next . Both characters have strong personalities so when they come together the sex is hot !!!! Great job Chris and thank you for letting me review for you !!
I received this book by Lovers of Paranormal for an honest review.
This was a strange book for me, not what I was expecting at all. It was compelling even though I had some issues with it. I couldn't quite decide what era it was written for one. And although the heroine was extremely magical she lacked confidence in her abilities and relied on the hero to inform her of her capabilities. I understand Ariana wasn't a virgin (hallelujah) and immediately feels intense emotion for Cameron but I'm a little surprised she can wake up with her hand around his cock masturbating him. I tad unreal methinks. There was a lot of intense sex which seemed the only way Ariana felt equal to her Lord even though he realised she was his equal. What really confused me was the sudden change in to each other two thirds of the way through. It made for interesting reading. The other part of the plot I take issue with is the whole conquering darkness thing. If Ariana through the use of her magic conquered the evil, how come the author included all the recent terror atrocities as part of what COULD happen if evil prevailed? Surely this means that the Darkness has had the upper hand? I know this sounds as if I didn't enjoy the book but this is not true, I did. As I've said, it just wasn't what I was expecting. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters but thought the ending could have been expanded on. Ariana finally realises that she is a woman of worth and then bam, end of story. Having said all this, if Cameron rocked up while I was chained to a wall, I wouldn't say no either!

Lord of the Clans is an intriguing story which I did eventually enjoy. The world building could be improved. There was no point of reference to figure out the time period. It felt like Game of Thrones with the vast difference in language, dress and living conditions for the characters. I took the instant connection between Ariana and Cameron in stride, it happens. I found the excuse of a sick Aunt a liitle unbelievable. I know it's just an excuse by the Shaman for Ariana's quest, but why didn't she wonder how he knew, was there a messenger, if so, why doesn't she know where the village is, why does she travel alone, she's a healer not a warrior as she keeps saying. I enjoyed the magic aspect of the story and Ariana's developing confidence and belief in her abilities.
Ariana's meeting the leader of the resistance and Cameron's reaction was quite funny. A girl can drool with her mouth open if she wants. There were some good twists to the story, and some characters I would want to see again, (I know we do), Blahort not being one of them. Some of the sex scenes felt awkward and unnecessary but it did get better.
An overall good read and I would try another story by this author.

Independent reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock. I was lucky enough to get a free copy for an honest review so here we go. Ariana was on her way to heal her aunt or so she thought and she made a wrong turn and ended up captured by a clan in the mountains. Luckily for her the one that is causing her pain is not the leader and when the leader comes and believes her and becomes her companion to find her way to her aunt village loads of things happen to them and she finds out that she isn't just a healer but has also got magic in her and she got a huge task in front of her to save the world from the Darkening can she do it?? Well what can I say but I didn't want the book to end, I loved it. It had me on the first page and I couldn't put it down. I loved the way the two main characters interacted with each other and what they had to put up with and yet Love beat it all. I am true romantic and this book spoke to the romantic within me. Will need to find out if there are more books from Chris.
THIS BOOK MADE ME HAPPY. The characters are great, the plot highly imaginative and the adventure gripping, but more than that Beauty and Passion live within the pages. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it and I wish there had been 2000 pages. Thank you M. and L. for recommending this fantastic book to me. You picked a winner and I can't stress enough how happy it made me.
HAHAHAHAHA I loved the fact that Arianna was not a virgin but man this girl was randy for one who blushed so much! I found that so funny! The story was amazing though, so captivating. Loved it!
I liked the the banter between the characters and the progression of their relationship. I did not like the fantasy angle of the story. The quest part. It was pretty meh.
This was a hard one to review. First I would like to state I have read books by Chris Lange before and have enjoyed. And I did really enjoy this book as well, but I procrastinated reading this book. First the reviews were up and down like a yo-yo. So I thought I'll put this on my TBR pile, but every time I looked at the cover I would think meh maybe later. (I hated the cover. Sorry! I usually don't let that ever sway me)So about a week ago it came up on Amazon Kindle Unlimited and I downloaded it and it set on my kindle for about a week. Then yesterday I left my book at home but I had my kindle and I was bored so I thought what the hey. And this is my following thoughts.......
I was hooked on the first chapter. At this point I'm thinking interesting. A few chapters later holy moly the sex is out of this world. Then I catch my self being unable to put it down. Then I would be reading and someone would say why are you smiling. I loved the dynamics between Cameron and Ariana and their constant bantering. So I have to say I really fell in love with this story. It would have gotten a 4.5 star rating except for one little issue. When Ariana faces the darkness, and she defeats it, got a little lost it was like it was over in the blink of an eye. I understand how she defeated perfectly, but the describing of it left me a little disappointed. Otherwise this is a book definitely worth reading and will most likely at some point I will definitely reread. So good job Chris Lange!
***** five star plus on the sex scenes and I loved that little freaky Friday bit!! LOL too funny!
This is a great read. Ariana is a young healer on a journey to heal her sick aunt. She has no sense of direction and is captured as a spy by another clan. She meets Cameron - Lord of The Clans and he decides to assist her to complete her trip. Ariana finds Cameron to be a gorgeous hunk of a man who stirs hot feelings to invade her body. He constantly teases her which gives the reader many laughs throughout the story but annoys Ariana no end. Ariana shows what a good healer and all-round caring person she is and Cameron finds himself aroused often in her company. They meet quite a few characters on their journey - some good - some mysterious and some bad.
There is mystery, magic, mayhem and much loving throughout the story - but of course there is evil too. How will they find and face their adversary - who will help them and will they ever find each other. The final chapters in this book will hold you in it's grip and you will hold your breath in places but you won't know what to think. A rollicking good story that will leave you wanting more from this author.
The Lord of the Clans by Chris Lange is a romantic fantasy with action, adventure and a little eroticism. It will leave you breathless by the end.
The storyline was interesting and easy to follow. There were plenty of plot twist and the action was fast paced. This is not a leisurely read, but will keep you glued to its pages. Overall I thought the tale was good.
The story did contain some sexually explicit scenes which did not add anything to the storyline. In fact I found the explicitness actually distracted from a good fantasy adventure. This is NOT a book for young readers.
Chris Lange did a great job of character development. They were both believable and strong. I found them easy to identify with and follow.
I liked The Lord of the Clans by Chris Lange and recommend this book to ADULT readers.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)
I really enjoyed this book. Lord Cameron is a strong dominant alpha male who knows what he wants. He is the Lord of the Clans, and a warrior. He protects his people. Ariana is a healer who gets lost on her way to heal her Aunt. She is taken hostage and chained to a wall to be tortured. That is where Lord Cameron finds her. Ariana explains to Cameron why she is on his land and Cameron agrees to help her get to her Aunt. Along the way they learn about each other and themselves. Cameron almost dies and Ariana heals him, this is when Cameron discovers that Ariana has magic. He helps her see her true self.
This book is set in the past, how far in the past is unclear. The book starts out with Lord Cameron and Ariana's travels and the "getting to know you". About halfway through the story we find out Ariana's destiny and the main story of the book. I thought this was a fun story with little twists and turns along the way. I would read more books by this author.
Well, by the end of this book, I am at a loss as to how to rate it. One the one hand, I mostly enjoyed the characters that were introduced and the world building was descent. One the other hand, the main plot of the book came off as forced and half thought out and really preachy all at the same time. The uh..., "love affair" between the two main characters also felt... "iffy" at best. Our h was also a bit on the annoying side with her constant insecurities. I mean, even after she came out on top, she still had the same doubts... she just never seems to grow. I'm also undecided about the mix of present and past as well as fantasy used to build this world... (Would like to give some praise of the editing of this one. A job well done!) Finally, at a list price of $6.99, this book leaves a lot to be desired, but shows some promise as well. However, given what I know now, I would not pay $6.99, it's not even close to that caliber of writing. -zittern

I enjoyed reading this book. It was great having this tension between the main characters. And I laughed so hard when they changed bodies. But beside all this, I felt the book was lacking a plot. The most part of this book was about Ariana getting to her aunt with the help of the Lord of the Clans. Just the last third of this book was about the actual task she had to fullfill. I would have liked it the other way round a lot better. The idea behind this book is great. Just maybe a little clumsy executed.
Nevertheless a good and enjoyable book.

she was soooo in love with him for no reason and she had a fiance, totally cheating for me. they had sex two times and no kiss, ugh the first sex scene was confusing i reread and reread and nothing. his jokes was supposed to be funny but not, it's just pissed me off. he was rude and hard to like
I know he was the lord of clans and bla bla bla, but she was so passive to him I just wanted to slap her, the book may be better after chapter 20 but i stopped, i can't stand them.
*sorry for the grammatical errors in the review, i speak portuguese, and english is not my language*
I DNF'd this a few months ago due to the heroine but decided to give it another shot. I read a little past the halfway point and then gave up. Not only is it taking FOR FUCKING EVER, but it's reached a whole new level of ridiculous with the body switching.
Ariana is from the healer tribe and on her way to visit her sick aunt, she stumbles across the Lord of the Clan's camp. Cameron finds out where she's going and insists on guiding her. Ariana is uncomfortable with him, because she's so attracted to him, but she's also betrothed to another man. But that doesn't stop them from doing their sexy thing. On the way to her aunt's Ariana and Cameron are sidetracked by a sort of quest, one that Ariana is driven to complete by the magic within her that provides her healing powers. But neither Ariana nor Cameron are sure what it's about. But pretty soon, Ariana discovers that she is supposed to vanquish the Darkening, with Cameron's help of course. But is she strong enough?
So this book is sort of proof that historical romance and smut just don't mix for me. The author does a great job of building this fantastical, historical world and then they start talking like porn stars and it completely pulls me out of it. Phrases like, "twirled her tit," "dandled her bud," "flaming dick" and even having the somewhat innocent though non-virginal heroine say, "lick my pussy" felt so extremely out of place. It was jarring at times. Don't get me wrong, this is an incredibly sexy book. It just doesn't work as a historical romance really. I think I'll stick to non-plot or contemporary smut. Also fair warning, the book does contain a swapping of the bodies in which the hero and heroine have sex with each other (as the opposite sex) in each other's bodies and in my eyes, Ariana was unfaithful to her betrothed, even though she didn't love him. You may or may not like these aspects, but be warned they are there.
A little, not too critical comment on the writing, but which irked me just a bit...this was the only thing, otherwise well-edited. There was a moment, which took place in the caves where Cameron lived, where the heroine "jerked-off" the hero (actual words used too). And yet, it was referenced several times later on and each time they remembered it taking place at the tavern, where they had sex the second time. They mentioned that time she'd jacked him off in his and her sleep at the tavern so many times that I had to go back and check my comprehension.

I had to grab hubby 3 times while reading this book, and guess what? He didn't complain but little did he know I was actually picturing the LORD of the CLANS doing things to me.
And more things...
And more things...
I have a good excuse though: this LORD of the CLANS is way too delicious and the book is way too hot. All right, you can judge me, I'm a bad girl.
This book took place in a wonderfully rich, descriptive fantasy world. The author created an old world feel with her descriptions. Ariana was a sweet, directional challenged woman who has excellent growth as a character. Cameron was the badass that also had fantastic development, from a hard guy to ‘soft for her’ moments.
There's no other words but I loved it. The Lord of the Clans is a formidable man, ruthless and intent on fighting the good fight. She's naive but smart and she learns quickly. They fit each other perfectly and their love story gave me tremendous pleasure. I was also thrilled to be reacquainted with characters from the author's other books, one in particular that left me wanting to do some rereading. I recommend this story to romance lovers.
