Mistletoe Moments is a collection of 15 short stories written by Canadian Authors. It is the perfect anthology of short stories to get you into the Christmas mood.
There are tons of great stories in this collection and there is definitely something for everyone. It was great to read stories from authors I already love, and was perfect for me to get a taste of the writing style of authors I haven’t read yet. It was an easy book to read, but definitely something you can read a bit of, then put down and come back to if you want to stretch out the reading time.
This is definitely a great read for the holiday romance lover, or even as a gift to get someone in the Christmas mood.
A perfect start to the cozy winter reads! I've only read the first short story so far- an enemies to lovers, small town romance based on a snowman making competition. And it was so good. Honestly, I would have been happy with it being a full book! I just know that the rest of these stories are going to set the mood for a great season!
Update: Great collection of romances! There is absolutely sommething for everyone. Lots of popular tropes, some stories are sweet, some spicy.
I love that this book is created entirely by Canadian authors! I found this book through Hannah Brixton (whose books I'm obsessed with) but I'm so excited to be introduced to more Canadian authors! Plus, 100% of proceeds goes to Food Banks Canada!!!!
Thank you to the wonderful collection of authors behind this anthology for providing an eARC for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

One of my favorite things about these anthologies-- apart from the fact they benefit charities!-- is that there really is a little something for everyone.
There's all ranges of spice, from none all the way to double dragon p33ns and everything in between. There's a range of diversity and inclusivity, including MF, MM, and FF stories. There's characters of color and various backgrounds, there's different family dynamics (single parents, grandparent caregivers, close sibling bonds), there's different types of relationships and living situations. And on top of all that, everything is set against the merry backdrop of Christmas or Christmas Eve. Each story is united through use of the word "mistletoe", although this word is not always literal! Sometimes it's the name of a pet, or a band, or a movie title, or it's a cheeky little tattoo. You'll just have to read and find out how "mistletoe" appears in each story!
I appreciate how each story has the tropes and any content warnings listed in front of it. This way, readers can be informed and decide if they'd like to skip a story. I, for one, read every single story here and not a single one disappointed. In the interest of total transparency, there was one short story I had to skim, because I have a niche trigger ( For me, some standout favorites from this anthology include the following. Tropes are under the Spoiler tags, but aren't actually spoilers, it's just to help this review from being TOO long. That's not to say I didn't enjoy every story, because I did! But if I had to pick some favorites....
Story 1 - Snow In Love by Becky Tzag Tropes: Because her "Hot Hallmark" stories are always swoon-worthy! This cute, fluffy, steamy vignette is sort of a slice of life moment, and takes place over the course of a week. It is charming light-hearted wintery fun.
Story 3 - A Not-So-Lonely Christmas by Marie Landry Tropes: MMC Jonathan is swoon worthy and too good to be true. Imagine Superman down bad for Lois Lane, and you get the picture. FMC Clare is an everywoman, but in no way boring; she likes Taco Tuesday and steamy mistletoe kisses and cheese Christmas movies, just like we do.
Story 5 - When Mistletoe Falls by Kate Cole Tropes: A fantastic balance of spice, plot, and Hallmark cheesiness. Longer than some of the other short stories. There were stakes, and the MMC had to put in a lot of effort to win the powerful executive FMC over. I liked the surprise ending!
Story 6 - A Christmas Rescue by L.E. Wagensveld Tropes: L.E.’s characters will always be some of my favorites. I love the dynamics between them, the character traits, the dialog. This blizzard interlude is quirky and fun and has tons of adorable kitties to love.
Story 11 - The Mismatchmaker by L. Meredith Tropes: A ton of plot, heart, yearning, and stakes are crammed into this little short story. There’s a smidge of spice and I found myself rooting for these characters to find a way to be together. This was one of my favorites, and I'll be seeking out some of L. Meredith's other works!
Story 14 - Here There be Dragon (Dick) by Amelia S Fletcher Tropes: We should all be so lucky as to have a dragon friend take us to an underground mating shrine and make good on an ancient ritual.
This is my first anthology review, so hopefully this will be helpful. I'll break it down in 3 parts: an overall feel, stats of tropes, and a highlight of the stories that I enjoyed the most.
Overall: this was an excellent sampling of Canadian authors. I had actually only read books by one of the authors involved prior to reading this anthology, and now I have a list of authors that I plan to check out their backlist. Each of the novellas are roughly the same length, and they are all set in Canada during the holidays. While all of the novellas weren't my jam, this was still a fun and quick way to get exposure to a lot of new-to-me authors. There were a few of the novellas that were actually related to existing series, so if you have some favorite authors in this collection, you might want to check out if they wrote a HEA for your favorite side characters!
Trope stats on the 15 novellas in this anthology: Opposites attract or grumpy/sunshine: 6 Friends to lovers: 5 Snowed in/forced proximity: 5 Connected to an existing series: 4 Sapphic (FF)/achillean (MM): 2/2 (4 total) Small town: 3 Romantasy or shifter romance: 3 Workplace romance: 3 Animals/pets play a role: 3 Slow burn: 3 Enemies to lovers: 2 Single parent: 2 Only one bed: 2 Kisses only, no spice: 2 Insta-lust: 2 Fated mates: 2 Boss/employee or Manager/client: 2 Billionaire/rockstar romance: 2 Practice/fake dating: 2 Best friend's brother: 1 Age gap: 1
5 star standouts for me: -A not so lonely Christmas by Marie Landry - perfect pacing, and there was enough background to feel the connection between them before the spice started, which is usually my biggest issue in shortie novellas. -When Mistletoe Falls by Kate Cole - I should note here that she is one of my favorite authors and why I wanted to read this anthology in the first place. Holy cow though, the spice was spicy! I need a full sized novel for this one asap! I am already writing their epilogue, and there's no way Max isn't part of it! -All I want for Christmas is my Best Friend by Brenna Bailey - not sure how you manage a slow burn in such a short story, but this was definitely slow and spicy. I love a good besties to lovers situation! -The Mismatchmaker by L Meredith - I don't typically enjoy billionaire romances, but this one was so quick that you hardly noticed that part, and he gave her the cutest nickname! -Twelve Christmases after by Madeline Nixon - I love a besties to lovers romance (notice a theme among the faves), and the pacing of this shortie was perfect. You got to see so much of their friendship and connection before the spice, and I am a sucker for a slow burn! -The Woods by Marion Kaye - A strangers to friends to lovers slow burn that has excellent pacing and some yearning on both sides! Bonus that the cat plays a big part in their story.
This book was such a fun read. Many festive stories, so many tropes and writing styles there's seriously something for everyone here. All tastes, from MF, to MM to FF and shifters. Seriously has it all. Also a great way to sample some Canadian Authors writing, some are now definitely moved up my TBR.

An anthology of 15 holiday romance short stories by Canadian authors that offer something for everyone’s tastes: a variety of tropes (enemies-to-lovers, one-bed, etc.), romantic pairings (M/F, M/M, F/F) and genres (contemporary, shifters/fantasy, etc). It’s also really fun to read a book that a number of my book friends and author pals have stories in it too!
This was a great collection of romance tales to read over the holidays! I enjoyed most of them, and the ones I didn’t were only because I don’t really read, say, that particular genre so it didn’t connect with me in the same way. A few of my fave ones were A Not-So-Lonely Christmas by Marie Landry, When Mistletoe Falls by Kate Cole and First Impressions by Joseph Tam but they were all an enjoyable read! Also funny, there were two different stories that coincidentally had the same last name for the guy, and two that coincidentally had similar type plots. I appreciate how much story actually gets developed and told in such a short amount of pages though.
Definitely pick up a copy if you’re in the mood for spicy reads but not sure what kind of spice! (Also great for end of the year holiday reads if you’re trying to hit that reading goal!)
Honestly, there is so much to say about each individual story, but I'm going to mainly talk about the anthology as a whole.
This collection is an amazing way to get into the Christmas spirit; it's filled with love and Christmas magic. There really is something in this anthology for everyone and each author got the chance to shine in their own way. The rollercoaster of emotions from story to story. There were multiple moments where I was giggling and kicking my feet.
As just about anyone would in a collection with so many authors, I definitely had some that I really enjoyed and some that I didn't really like. Overall though, the positive had much more weight than the negative and I enjoyed almost every second of it.
If you love love and you love Christmas, pick this up! Not only will you find one or more stories to love, your money will also be going to charity! All proceeds from the sales of Mistletoe Moments are being donated by these amazing authors to Food Banks Canada!
15 Romances to Keep You Warm This Holiday Season (from the Mistletoe Moments anthology) is a delightful holiday collection featuring fifteen heartwarming romances by a mix of beloved and new-to-me authors. I was initially drawn in because two of my favorites contributed, but I ended up discovering several more whose stories I’ll definitely be exploring. The anthology blends standalone novellas and tales tied to existing series, offering a perfect mix of cozy, festive charm and romantic magic. A wonderful read to get you in the holiday spirit!
All the stories in this anthology are so good and unique, there are warm romances that show love in different ways during holiday season. ☃️💖
This is my first anthology read, and I think is a good book to read during holiday season, I suggest to read one or two stories per day for more enjoy.
In the stories I found contemporary and fantasy romances, sapphic relationships, achillean relationships and relationahips between humans and shifters; therefore, is a good way to know subgeneres of the romance.
There were some really good reads in here! The stories were a nice and cozy (yet spicy) holiday read.
I love that all the authors are Canadian! I will definitely be looking into these writers more. It was a great way to be introduced to them! It was also fun to have a mix of contemporary and Romantasy mixed together.
Shout out to my favourite, Hannah Brixton! Your story had me cackling.
This book was perfect when paired with hot cocoa and a warm blanket. It sure helped get me into the holiday spirit.
I finished this anthology like it was a tray of Christmas cookies. No regrets!
The fifteen romances all have their own thing going on and I felt something within every story. I came for a author I already love (Alyssa Milani), but the real surprise was finding new ones that I can’t wait to read their work.
If you want something fun, quick, and full of festive feelings, this collection hits the spot.
4.5 ✨ I originally picked this up because I absolutely adore Brenna Bailey and will read absolutely anything she writes (and her story was amazing as expected) but I also really enjoyed so many of the other stories and it really opened me up to a lot of new writers to check out. It’s also spicy if that’s your thing! 🌶️ I’m generally the biggest grinch around the holidays but this was the perfect holiday read.
I love this book. I love the fact the authors are all Canadian. It is nice to read because it had different kinds of stories and all sorts of tropes. I love that fact that the book just had a different feel to it.
Mistletoe Moments is a collection of short stories by 15 Canadian authors and it is the perfect read for around Christmas.
I read it in 2 sittings, but I wish that I did it as an advent calendar of sorts. I rated it 4/5 stars as there were a couple of stories that weren't for me.
