In a future owned by corporations, war is society's largest industry, and soldiers are its primary feedstock.
Bodies go in, get stitched or repurposed, and the system keeps running on whatever remains.
Everett is one of its products. He returned from the front mutilated and remade, only to be fed back into the system. Hazel stayed behind, fighting another kind of pain. Tied by grief and a future they could never have, they will discover that the war’s hunger never stops at the battlefield.
At the end of history, darkness doesn’t settle for the dead.
It devours the living.
Into the Dark is a standalone and Book One in the Spoils of War series—a brutal exploration of grief, cannibalistic capitalism, and the economy of trauma.
Sabrina is an Italian-born indie author who writes in English and almost always in the dark. Her go-to genres are horror, erotica, dark romance, and weird lit. She shares her home with two cats, a pair of small gremlins, and several ghosts she refuses to evict.
Into the Dark was such an amazing, dark read that was very different than anything I have ever read before. This was my first “dystopian” read and I admit it took me a while to really get into it because of how it was written but once I started understanding the storyline and the characters and their parts in the book, I couldn’t put it down.
To tie the erotic horror into it made it that much more enticing to me. I enjoy a book that has a story that pulls you in and is different but that also makes you squirm and makes you think differently of everything around you.
I’m pretty sure that we are truly Fu€k3d if this is what ends up happening to us in the future. But it is possible and that alone should make us scared 🫣
This read was something unexpected and full of raw emotion-like deep down internal realizations that were gut wrenching. You can feel the depth of hopelessness where you would hope to find some semblance of optimism, but this is a dystopian horror and you can't always get what you want. Sometimes you see shit humanity. Sometimes you don't come home from war and you're given a heroes welcome. Sometimes you don't get the second chance. Sometimes you miss your opportunity and bam. You're just not the same anymore and your dreams cannot be. This book was a terrifying take on the future and such an oddly satisfying ending to make this book unlike the others. 10/10.
This book, I went into blindly was totally something, the world building, the characters, the plot, the storyline, i was at a loss for words, the emotional trauma left behind🤌🤌🤌 I had to take a huge breath and analyse wtf I had read😶🌫️, even thinking about the book has me and my body getting stiff as stick. the way the words weave and the chills settle in my bones and scenes play out soo vividly😶😶😶, its like i witnessed WW3 happening right before my eyes, Sabrina knows how to make readers feel all the emotions just from the way she writes
Into the Dark is an ambitious and emotionally heavy dystopian horror that explores grief, war, and cannibalistic consumerism in a way that feels intentionally suffocating. The concept is strong and unsettling, and the commentary on bodies and trauma as currency clearly lingers even after you close the book. The writing often reads like a dream, fragmented, hazy, and immersive, which I believe is a deliberate stylistic choice by the author. I appreciated this dark and heavy read that will likely resonate deeply with readers who enjoy abstract, grief-driven narratives.
This book is amazing!! It pulled me in straight away and kept me hooked. Unique story with all the feels omg I could fully picture everything! Everything flowed very well. Please check your triggers for the *trauma* 🫣😍😏
This was such a unique and well written book, I just couldn't stop reading it. The way Sabrina writes this dystopian world had me completely immersed in the character's trauma and left me completely questioning everything. It was tense and raw and the erotic horror element complimented that so well. If you're looking for something completely different, you absolutely need to read this!
