Whilst on a train Connor is on a facetime call to his girlfriend, Liv, who is in their apartment. Just before finishing the call he sees someone behind her and he looks like him!!!! He rushes back home only to find Liv is gone and this is when the nightmare begins.

This story hits the ground running from the first page and keeps the pace until the end. I was constantly thinking what the hell is going to happen next.

I can't recommend this book highly enough, it's amazing.

I've read a number of books from Stuart James before and have always enjoyed them so i had high hopes going into this one.
When Connor is on a facetime call to girlfriend Liv, he witnesses what appears to be her being abducted by someone who looks exactly like him - his Doppelganger! And there is the premise and opening chapter as the author blitzes the reader from the start with absolutely no preamble which I loved!
However Connor's problems are only beginning as it turns out that two friends of his are also being targeted by their own Doppelganger's in increasingly strange and dramatic ways.
While this is more a psychological thriller than horror, the actual premise is chilling enough as it becomes less of a whodunnit but more of a how-the-hell-are-they-doing-it and the twists and gradual reveals are great as the backstory is drip fed in small chunks, enticing the reader to read on for the full story.
Fast paced, likeable characters (well, some of them) and some really interesting ideas made this a really enjoyable read and I loved the little nudges towards An American Werewolf in London and The Ring in particular.

As a child, I had a strange doppelgänger experience involving my mum. I have never forgotten it and still don’t have a rational explanation. This is one of the reasons I was so intrigued to read this book.

The action and creepiness hit straight away in the first chapter and then never let up.
I couldn’t stop reading, desperate to know what awful things might happen to the characters next.

Reading it alone at home, both during the day and at night really had me spooked. I found myself listening for every little noise, drawn completely into the book’s eerie narrative and sense of foreboding.

Doppelgänger has all the hallmarks of a classic psychological thriller with so much tension and torment. Every chapter had me wondering how it would all be explained and reach a satisfying conclusion. Yet the author’s skill ensures that past and present converge expertly.

Hold onto your hats folks because you're in for one heck of a ride!

I've always loved Stu's books and Doppelgànger has had me completely freaked out, but in a horrifying twisted way.

The story unfolds when Conner is on the train face timing his girlfriend Liv and sees someone in the background, but it can't be real for it looks exactly like him. Conner screams at Liv to run but he's to late, someone has just kidnapped her.

After rushing home Conner contacts his best friends from school, Liam and Ella.
There is a deep dark secret that not only involves them but also a teacher and caretaker from their old school.

What really happened on that fateful day in school to Nathan and his twin brother Fred Kipler?

When lives start to drop like rotten apples from a tree, who will be next?

A fantastically written psychological thriller

Connor is on a train heading to a meeting. While chatting on FaceTime with his girlfriend, Liv, he sees someone else in their flat. Imagine his shock when the face he spots looks just like him.

Rushing back to the flat and finding Liv missing, Connor calls on his friends Liam and Ella, they’ve known each other since they were at school together.

With strange things happening, and both Connor and Ella accused of doing bad things that they haven’t done, they are both shocked to see that they appear to have doppelgängers. What is going on and why are these things happening to them?

A macabre and sinister tale that really did have me on the edge of my seat. It is fast-paced and action-packed. The author brings the story to life and there is such a tense atmosphere throughout. It is a story of secrets, lies and revenge.

I received a copy of this book from the author.

Imagine video-calling your partner and watching someone who looks exactly like you attack them. A mysterious doppelgänger has appeared, and he’s about to tear your life apart. As dark secrets from the past resurface, those involved are hunted by something far more terrifying than guilt. The real horror is only just beginning.

I absolutely love Stuart James’ books, they’re always packed with suspense, twists, and that perfectly sinister edge. This one was absolutely brilliant. The premise had me hooked straight away and I could not put it down. Every chapter pulled me further in and I just had to keep reading. A fast-paced, chilling thriller that completely delivered.

Thank you so much for the ARC, another fantastic read from a master of tension!

Love a good, creepy "ghost" story? This book is for you! Ella and Liam were at school together and something happened...! In the present, Liv works at an art gallery and "feels" someone in the room with her. There are notes, there are voices...it's a chilling look at the concept of a doppelganger that will keep you awake if you are afraid of the dark. Wonderful!

Stuart James is back and back with a story featuring the intriguing notion of Dopplegangers

We all ( well I do ) like the idea we might have one but what happens if you do have one and it is being used for evil?

A shockingly full on start to the book which then set the tone for this scary and dark story where nothing is at it seems, although it is, maybe!….

The writing is good and engaging and the story frighteningly real and worryingly believable

The author has turned a fascinating subject into a revenge laden thriller where the main characters find themselves in the terrifying position of doing things and being places they aren’t….but try telling that to anyone affected

Really good
