A signature can change everything…

Rather than silver, Randolph Van Ayers III was born with a platinum spoon in his mouth and plenty of strings attached. Faced with a list of specific goals he must achieve in order to earn control of his family’s banking empire, he’s accomplished each task and triumphed. One item remains on his list. He must marry by his thirty-third birthday and stay married for one year. However, when his so-called fiancée leaves him on the courtroom steps only hours before his deadline, he realizes he might lose for the first time in his life, and a Van Ayers never fails.

Taught to rely on the universe for answers, Willow Day has always struggled in the material world, specifically her lack of material. With her small holistic store near foreclosure and without a home, she must do anything within her power to make the business work and take care of the woman who raised her. When the rude, yet gorgeous, Randolph the Third offers to fix all her troubles in exchange for one year of her life, she opens her mind and takes a chance.

It’s the battle of the mystical over the money. Between a hidden pet who looks more like a cotton ball, performance artists with wings, and a woman who spouts advice like a living fortune cookie, everything from restaurant reservations to a trip to celebrate the winter solstice create clashes for the couple as they learn how to fit into each other’s worlds.

With both their futures at stake, they must learn to accept reality, what the fates have dealt them and the consequences of falling in love from the moment they decided to sign on the dotted line

3 A Different Vision for Both * * *

It is so easy to make assumptions about others and their lives. We only see things from our own point of view and it can blind us to what challenges and hurdles they may have to overcome. This was what I felt was the overall lesson this author was sharing.

We had a main character, Randolph Van Ayers III, who from a distance would seem to have it all; he is powerful, wealthy, intelligent and very attractive. He has a love of the arts and a mind for banking and handling the most wealthiest of clients. He comes from a family which dates back many generations with his grandparents still living and his parents still married. His needs were met; all the tasks catered to by staff.

We also have Willow Day, what one would call a free spirit.... a woman raised by her Nan. She was taught to feel, hear, let her senses guide her. Not confined by societal rules and regulations... she developed a keen sense of people, understanding and empathy. By learning from Nan, her talents grew to develop a holistic line of lotions, potions and teas. She and Nan have opened a shop and although all of her products are actually good, she hasn't found enough business to stay out of the red.

With her inability to pay rent and Nan's health issues... Willow is at a loss....she needs the Universe to give her a sign.... something to show her the way to hold things together for Nan....because Nan is her everything.

Randolph is also needing something from the Universe as well, although he may not be thinking of it that way...He is in a situation not exactly of his own making but still is responsible for...because he must be married by the end of this day...his 33rd birthday. He waited, out of spite, to have his dictated marriage planned to take place on this day. What he didn't plan was for the "soon to be bride" leave him standing at the courthouse. Now he is at this juncture...his life has been a set of tasks set out by his father all his life. Reach a task... complete and goal achieved. This last task was to ensure him the keys to his future; the bank, the family estate and freedom to run his life the way he wanted. No more being obligated to tasks, lists and his father. Yet, at this moment in time...he is not confident as usual...this may be his first failure on the ever present list of tasks...

As Randolph is at the art gallery of his friends, Jade and Slate, he is almost resigned to his doom...During this pondering Willow comes in to talk with Jade, her landlord for her shop. Randolph has seen her before... he has watched as this woman seems to glide, not walk... how her skirts twirl around her long legs...her hair floats around her head... and eyes which see through him...somehow he can never say the right thing around her....

It is during Willow's conversation with Jade, Randolph realizes he may just be able to save his situation and also help Willow too... she needs to save her business and Nan... he needs a wife for 1 year and he has the means to make her solvent... what could be better???

He approaches her in the alley of the shops... Willow really has no like of the man... his aura is all wrong.... he hides too much... he looks down on her way of life... why should she even listen to him. But Willow does, as is her way...and as he begins to tell her about how he could help her and she sees the pain and hurt his eyes reveal...something calls to her... she says yes.

We see the force which is Randolph as things go into fast forward... he has a specific contract detailing every aspect of what this year will entail. Willow puts her foot down and insists Nan will live with them on Randolph's estate. Fine... Anything to move this along... Randolph is singularly focused and once everything is settled... the marriage takes place. If Randolph thought it was going to go as planned...he has another thing coming...

This was my first book with this author. Her overall plot point was one we all love. Two opposites must come together for purposes of need... then they have to deal with each other and hopefully they fall hard and have their HEA. The difference was the multiple story lines... of how what may look like an easy life ... has its own problems and difficulties. Both characters needed to see each other clearly...share their many secrets and get a perspective of how things could impact them. There were clearly times when this would happen.

The romance factor was a bit off and on for me...but by the end, they worked it out.

This is a stand alone, with interesting secondary characters and a positive view of life.

DNF

I have enjoyed Kim Carmichael's other books, but this one I just did not like the heroine. Plus why did the hero's fiance leave him at the alter? It made him sound pathetic without giving me an explanation right away.
The heroine I just feel is not a responsible person. To me it seemed like she is was in some la-la land. Not a responsible person looking for a realistic solution to her problems. Just waiting for something to happen. She annoyed me. I just could not connect.

I really enjoyed this book, it was all about the romance of a non romantic situation. With this book being written in the third person, it takes a little something away from the emotion of a read for me, but it was very well written so I barely noticed.
Willow Day is a free spirit and all about holistic ways and practices. She believes in signs and tarot cards etc. I found that Willow was a strong character in some respects but very weak in others, I think that has a lot to do with how she views the world, she even says herself that 'her reality' and 'reality' are two different things. Willow and Nan have always lived poor moving from place to place just surviving. Willow finally decides to put down some roots and opens a holistic healing store in L.A, next to an art gallery that Randolph Van Ayers the third frequents.
Randolph Van Ayers the third has always had goals and targets to achieve, his last one before he can rightfully take ownership of his family legacy is to be married by his 33rd birthday. His bride leaves him at the alter at what seems to be the last possible moment; then a conversation he overhears Willow having with her friend/landlord Jade makes it all seem possible again. Randolph being the stubborn, forward, goal oriented man he is refuses to fail and throws himself into Willows path he makes her an offer she would struggle to refuse. The question is; was it fate, divine intervention or just dumb luck that meant he overheard that conversation.
Could what starts out as a contract turn into something more, something worth fighting for?
As Willow and Randolph's relationship takes shape and blossoms the cracks start to show that even full disclosure couldn't anticipate others around them notice she has a presence that brightens everyone's lives. Then things take a turn for the bad and everyone's lives get thrown into chaos. The supporting characters in this novel are great and full of wisdom and advice creating brilliant interactions between all the characters. The end of this novel left room for there to be more, for that I'm glad as it means us readers can live in hope that maybe we'll see more of Willow and Randolph.

On the Dotted Line was an interesting read. It started off a bit jumbled, then really took off, then fizzled out before I got to the end. While I enjoyed the story, something about the characters didn't resonate with me. One minute you think you have these two pegged and then something jumps and then their is confusion and then drama and then it jumps again. Their were too many times I found myself wanting to shake these characters or rolling my eyes over the events that took place. However, this book does pack some heat and had some really lovely moments that made the whole book worth reading. This was my first book by Kim Carmichael and I am definitely going to add her to my list of Authors.

This is a wonderfully written story about an unlikely pair thrown together out of necessity. They need one another to each get what they thought they wanted and needed. Willow and Randolph couldn't be more different. They have crossed paths several times but have never clicked or so they think.
Randolph is a by the book business man. He has been made to jump through hoops by his father so that one day he may take the helm of the family company. He has been given a stipulation of taking over the corporation.....he must marry by his 33rd birthday and remain married for one year. Randolph is a smart and resourceful man and thinks that he has it figured out until he is left standing alone at the court house on the morning of his birthday.
Willow is a beautiful, sensitive, creative free spirit that has never had a life of leisure. She has had to work hard for everything that she has and has always put others before herself. She has now realized that she is in a tight spot and is on the verge of loosing her home and the business that she has worked so hard for. She has no idea how she will work her way out of this.
Randolph overhears a conversation that is not meant for him about Willow's predicament and comes to a conclusion that may be beneficial for both of them.
Randolph makes Willow an offer that she shouldn't and couldn't refuse.
Can these two unlikely acquaintances find a common ground and make this contract work to both get what they want? They may be surprised to find that fate has a way helping you find your way. If you give it a chance it may give you everything you never thought you wanted or needed!
I loved Willow and her need to push Randolph and frazzle his comfort zone. Is it possible that this contract may become so much more than a business deal to them?
Kim did a great job of bringing these characters to life you couldn't help but fall for them and cheer them on. This story had everything that I enjoy in a book...witty banter, sexual tension, angst, drama, family secrets and a bit of mystery.

The marriage of convenience trope has been done-a lot-but believe me when I say that you’re going to have a good time with On the Dotted Line. A bit of snark, a lot of laughs, and a quirky lead female character make for a fun and engaging read.

Willow is just plain awesome. She deserves so much in life, and it seems that Randolph’s offer will be able to take care of that for her. Randolph I found to be quite amusing, and I love how he falls for Willow (really how they fall for each other). Two very opposite people, helping each other out…you know how it should end up so it’s just getting to that point is what this book is all about.

I’ll tell you, there were several points that I was laughing out loud…and the story is told very well, keeping you drawn in and flipping those pages. There’s also a pretty good group of secondary characters (I just love Nan, she’s a lot of fun…especially with the altar she sets up at the store-you’ll see what I mean), and Willow’s in-laws turn out to be not quite what you expect-in a good way.

This one was definitely a fun one to read, and I’d recommend it with 4.5 stars to anyone who likes their romance with a good dose of laughter!

I love this book! What a predicament to be in! Get married or lose everything. The chemistry in this book is phenomenal! Great story line... you have a preppy rich boy, with everything including a few secrets, and a woman of the earth, no money and a gypsy lifestyle. It's an explosion of two lives, who couldn't be any more different, yet signing 'On The Dotted Line' will change their lives completely! Good or bad they have to make this last a year or he gets NOTHING! This book is packed with so much emotion and the passion pours from the pages. A modern day Romeo and Juliet! I could not out this book down!

Utterly Horrible. Ugh.

There was absolutely nothing about this book that I liked. Nothing. The characters were hollow and weak. Not to mention annoying. And the story.....what story?!?! I kept waiting for it to pick up but it never happened. There was no structure and if there was a plot, it was playing hide and seek. I've never ever been so bored while reading a book before. Don't bother wasting your money.

This was phenominal! I admit I was unsure of how I would like it but was very intrigued! The chemistry between Willow and Randolph was unbelievable! My heart was happy and I got butterflies and then my heart was hurt and read with tears in my eyes. Such a beautiful story and I highly recommend it!

Please note, this review was previously published in 2015 under a profile used by multiple people. I am removing those reviews and republishing them on my new, personal profile.

ON THE DOTTED LINE is your classic tale of a mega-rich guy (Randolph), who must meet some familial demand to marry by a certain age, who meets a poor girl (Willow) who’s in desperate need of cash in a hurry. Randolph makes a proposal he knows Willow can’t refuse, followed by the very quick race down the aisle in order to meet the deadline. And yes, they make it just in time.

Despite the hot sex, drama and confusion take place on almost every page. Randolph likes Willow, but won’t tell her because he thinks she only married him for money. She did. Willow likes Randolph, but won’t tell him because she thinks he only married her for money. He did. This scenario sets the scene for almost the entire book. When they get close to admitting their feelings for each other, something inevitably interrupts them (mostly their own thoughts) and the moment is lost.

They finally share their feelings for one another and things run smoothly for a little while. But the story wouldn’t be complete without one final act that tears them apart. Most of the characters have secrets and lies that you just know will unravel at the most inopportune time. Randolph thinks it’s best to let Willow go, and Willow leaves as it’s what Randolph wants. This leaves both of them to wonder why the other one didn’t fight for them. Both come to their senses seemingly at the same time and POW!!! … you end up with your HEA.

Sadly, I don’t know why I bought this book. It’s a theme I’ve read a few times before and to be honest, these stories never change or come up with new twists. Maybe that’s why I really struggled to finish this book: it just didn’t engage me. It didn’t keep my up all night. It didn’t scream out to me to pick it back up when I put it down. I slogged through it just so I could finish it to move on to my next book.

I also had trouble following the conversations throughout this book. I can’t really explain it other than when reading conversations between characters, I always felt like I had missed something. The conversations were stilted and disjointed and I was left wondering how the characters got from Point A to Point B while they were talking.

The reason why I gave it a four because the beginning was a little bit slow and I almost gave up reading and to me the ending could of been better. Now to the middle of the book where it got interesting, At first Randolph was a spoil brat but once Willow came into his life and he ended turning out to be a decent person and to me this has everything to do with Willow because she has broken him down and was able to allow him to be his truth self with out trying to hard. One thing that nobody didn't know about Randolph was that he loved art and once people found out he they was shocked that he knew how to draw that was one of his secrets talent that he has. And as for Willow she didn't allow her self to open up to Randolph either because she to figured out that this was a business deal she was thinking why should she even open up her self but once Willow started to opening up to Randolph they both was connecting in ways that they didn't think would be impossible. Now on to Nan who would of thought that Nan would meet somebody from Randolph circle I know Willow didn't think so either but once she realize that Nan had put her entire life of hold to raise Willow I think that Willow understood her and finally let go so that Nan could go live her life. But most of all it was a good book.

Every time I read a Kim Carmichael book, I think I have read her best...but every time I'm wrong. This is a story about love. Randolph Emerson needs a wife by the end of his birthday or he loses everything he has worked so hard to achieve. He finds Willow, an etherial go with the flow girl, and convinces her to sign on the dotted line. The story revolves around how two people develop a life and love together.

As usual, the characters, both major and minor, are excellently written. Grab your hankies, girls, you're gonna need them.

Wow, a story that has two strong characters doubting their paths and questioning each decision they made. Amazing how strongly this story represents their growth. A book worth a second read.

Opposites attract, at least that’s what they say. “On The Dotted Line” proved that the myth is true and one can find their happily ever if they can look beyond those differences and see the person inside.

Kim Carmichael’s writing is always beautiful to me. Her romance is hot and steamy when I need it and shy and unguarded when the angst calls for it. “On The Dotted Line” is just one of many books by Kim that I have read and every time her stories just call to me. Her characters make me cheer so hard for them, like a voyeur in a world filled with life’s hard lessons.

Randolph Van Ayers III, such a stuffy name for a no nonsense guy. He’s not looking for love but he definitely needs a bride. Per an agreement with his father, he has to be married by his 33rd birthday, and stay married for a year, in order to not lose his inheritance.

While this might sound manipulative, Randolph has never been mistreated, loved by his parents and growing up in a quirky but good family. He is a successful man in his own right, fully active in the family business. But he doesn’t trust love, doesn’t want it.

Willow Day, our carefree spirit, is exactly the opposite. Raised by Nan, her life has been filled with more of the simpler, holistic things in life. Willow and Nan have a little shop that sells teas, soaps, potions and more that promote healthy living and healing.

But both Randolph and Willow are up against a wall. The bride Randolph had lined up jumps ship and Willow’s business skills are a tad lacking and her business is failing. When these two impossibly opposite people recognize that the only one that can help them is the other, fates are sealed by signing on the dotted line.

The question must be asked though, will this just be a marriage or convenience or is romance destined to happen? Can both of them overcome their differences to recognize the heat that exists? Will destiny be determined by two simple signatures?

If you like arrogant assholes who get knocked down a peg or two, or a strong woman who learns to lean on someone for a change, this is the story for you!

Randolph Van Ayers III is self assured, business minded, 32 years old and on the verge of losing his inheritance. Unless Randolph marries by his 33rd birthday and stays married for a year, he stands to lose everything. Trying to out smart his father and his marriage contract, Randolph thinks he has everything lined up to keep it all. That is until he is stood up on the courthouse steps hours before he turns 33. Not knowing what to do, he throws his hands up in defeat and decides to attend the party his friends are throwing for him.

Willow Day is a free spirit of a woman. She never had a plan put in place. As far as she and her Nan were concerned, they always had what they needed and that suited them just fine. Willow and Nan rent a space where they own a small metaphysical and holistic shop that doubles as their home. Financial strains has Willow concerned about their future and Nan’s health is not all the best. As she is speaking to her landlord, who also happens to be Willow’s best friend, she runs into Randolph Van Ayers III. In the past, Randolph and Willow were cordial, but never truly hit it off.

After a chance meeting at Randolph’s birthday party, he over hears a conversation not meant for him and his wheels begin to turn. Could Willow be the one that helps him keep his inheritance? After pitching his proposal of the contract to her, Willow begins to see a glimmer of light in keeping her shop and home.

Could a contract for a year give them what they want? Could they possibly be searching for something else after they realize they hold more than a piece of paper between them? The attraction they have towards each other was not what either had expected. As they continue their ruse, they realize that this could be something more. Or would their pasts and secrets catch up to them and have them taking off the rose colored glasses and see things for what they are?

Kim Carmichael did such a great job in bringing her characters to life. This book gives you everything. Hot passion, family and self realization is all rolled into this sweet secret of a novel. I fell in love with all her characters and wanted to catch a glimpse of their lives after this story was done. Thank you Kim for giving me everything I wanted and an appetite for more. Kudos!

I really enjoyed On The Dotted Line for a somewhat unconventional reason. This book was a great intriguing romance story, but what I feel in love with most is the underlying non-romance undertones and the holistic ideals of the heroine of the story. After loving one of Carmichael’s previous series, I knew that I wanted to dive into On The Dotted Line when she offered me an ARC.

Carmichael weaves a tale of a business deal marriage/romance. A very rich man must marry within a specific time frame in order to inherit the family banking business. After a failed attempt, he literally offers the deal of a lifetime to an unsuspecting acquaintance. I’ll set you up for life and save your business if you pretend to be happily married to a very rich attractive man. Who wouldn’t take that deal? Ummm… I know I would!! (Sorry honey  I still love you!) Randolph has a secret life that will leave you a little mind boggled and intrigue. Plus, it ties into Willow’s eclectic lifestyle.

The plot was a very twisted web of suspense and blossoming romance. Just when you think okay maybe these two will work their shit out, BAM!!, a romantic drama pipe bomb is thrown into the mix. Yet, beneath the drama and romantic turmoil, there’s an underlying tone of finding love in unexpected places and fighting for it when you’re against all odds. The secondary characters add just enough power and pizazz to the story that you really get the feeling there’s more to just Willow and Randolph’s romantic struggles to the story.

This was a great new novel by Kim Carmichael. Her plot themes will leave you in suspense as the story goes on and the secondary characters will leave you laughing your ass off at times. You’ll know what I mean when you meet Nan and hear about the alter. While the story is wrapped up in a nice tight bow, I’d love to come back to these characters in the future and see what they’re up too and their lives have changed since the end of On The Dotted Line.

**AUDIO REVIEW **

I was gifted this audio file, direct from the author, and I thank Kim for that.

Faced with losing everything, Randolph does what he does best, creates a contract for a marriage he knows will only last for 12 months. Willow signs that contract, to save her business, and to give herself and Nan the security they both so desperately crave. But things change, and a vicious ex bring it all crashing down around their ears.

Best way I can describe this, is delightful. Its a lovely story, told beautifully, and I really enjoyed it!

Randolph and Willow are such polar opposites and it made for a great little tale. Some amusing moments, with Nan and the dog, some embarassing moments for both Willow and Randolph, some painful moments and some passionate ones.

My review is for the audio version, and is narrated by Elan O'Connor. Now, I usually have trouble with female narrators, indeed, I have not bought audio books, or declined to review them, simply because they are female narrators. Let me tell you why. I have a hearing loss that is specific to higher pitch speech tones. And females tend to have a naturally higher pitch tone, so I was a little worried I would struggle. BUT!! I had no such problems with Elan's telling of Willow and Randolph's tale. Her voice is clear, and concise. The emotions of all the characters come across in all the right places, and each character was clearly defined and distinguishable from the others. I have just one comment, and this is the reason I gave the narration 4 stars and not 5. While all the characters had distinct voices, I found the male voices sounded like a woman trying to talk like a man. I know that is what is happening, it just SOUNDED like it. Does that make sense?? I can't word it any differently!

All in all, a well written, well narrated tale of opposites attract, and you really can have it all, with that little bit of work.

4 stars for the story, 4 for the narration, and 4 overall.

I was so stoked when this book came out.
The story has so much promise, its such a shame I couldn’t get into it.

Randolph may be rich, but to keep his entire fortune, his family’s banking empire he must be married by his thirty-third birthday and stay married for one year or he loses it all.

When his fiancée leaves him on the steps with only a few hours left on the clock, Randolph is forced to admit defeat.

Willow has struggled her whole life, everything she has she’s worked hard for.

Now with her store and her home now on the line, Randolph’s proposition is too good to turn away.

Now, this could have been a great story, but it never picked up for me.
Randolph and Willow both…. Irritating. Wishy-washy.

This story jumps back and forth far too much. At times i wondered if I had accidentally skipped a few pages. I didn’t.

The plot was weak at best and wasn’t executed.
However, I only made it to 40% before the boredom won and I scratched this as a DNF.
(2 weeks and 4 attempts later.)

On the Dotted Line by Kim Carmichael

Willow Day has always had struggles. She owned a small store that was going out of business, also she didn't have place to call home. She is so and determined to change her troubles. She meet the arrogant Randolph Van Ayers III. She is given an option that she just can't say no too!!! Hell its only one year of her life.

Randolph Van Ayers III was born into wealth. Money was never the issue for him. He however had a huge problem. He needed to be married for one year, and when his fiance leaves him he needs to wife in the matter of hours. If he doesn't he would loose the family empire. Ayers has to find a wife and fast.
He gives Willow an ofter she could not possibly say no to.

Randolph has never been challenged by a woman like Willow. She has an opinion and its the opposite of his. He is forced to deal with this woman. They both know they so need the other for there promised futures to stay afloat.

Does opposite truly attract? Will they have come together more than they bargained for?

Kim Carmichael novel titled On the Dotted Line. This is the first novel that I have read from this author. I thoroughly enjoyed this read. This writer has a true talented in writing. You find yourself just turning pages after to pages you become so obsessed with this plot. The characters are amazing, you can feel what there expressing whole heartily. Kim has a great skill in connecting the reader. I was totally involved in this novel but 4% on my kindle. I love a book that flow so well you don't feel like your stuck. I totally recommended this hot, sexy, well written and loving novel of two people forced into a situation and watch how it unfolds.

3.5 stars

I was lucky enough to be gifted a copy of this book in an exchange for an honest review.

I've read a few of Kim's books before and loved them. The indelibly marked series is youthful and witty and tatted up hotties really what’s not to like.

On the dotted line feels like the older more sophisticated cousin to the other novels I have read my Kim.

This romance is old school; it's sweet and a little smulchsey at times. But above it all it’s through and through romance.

Willow is a new age hippy dippy women who floats through life quoting weird words of wisdom.

To be honest I found her a bit of a coward. She talked a good game but rarely followed through.

Randolph seriously has a stick stuck up his butt. At the start he was so uptight and a bit of a dick.

Together they do make an adorable Dharma and Greg style couple.

At times I really just wanted to bang their heads together, considering Randolph is highly educated and Willow is a bit of mind reader you would think they would stop being so stupid and sort themselves out.

This old fashioned romance was a nice break from the edgier stories I've been reading recently.

For me Jed and Nan stole they show that Dog was a bloody genius.

This book was adorable and super sweet.

On the dotted line gets 3.5 stars

Willow Day has always struggle with money due to lack of it. She learned to live a gypsy life when her mom died when she was young and her mom friend ended up raising her. All she ever really wanted was a mattress to call her own.

Randolph Van Ayers III was raised with lots of money but there were strings attached to his lifestyle. In order to inherit the family banking empire, he must systematically accomplish a set of goals. His finally task is marriage on his thirty-third birthday and it must last a year. When his so-called fiancée leaves him at the courthouse hours before the deadline, he faces that he will lose for the first time and a Van Ayers never loses.

When they run into each other, Randolph makes her an offer that she can not refuse. Needing the money since her small holistic store is ready to be foreclosed and needing to take care of the woman who took care of her, she takes up his offer knowing it is temporary as she signs a contract.

As they spend more time with each other being married, they find themselves falling in love with each other. Willow tries to fit into his world but things tend to go wrong. Can these two different people be able to give what the other really needs?

It is a sweet story that we want them to be together despite everything. Sometimes we need someone who sees beyond the usual.

☆☆ ARC PROVIDED BY Kim Carmichael FOR MY HONEST REVIEW ☆☆

Randolph Van Ayers III need a bride before the end of his 33rd birthday to keep his family fortune in banking. At the eleventh hour, Randolph asked Willow Day in an alley behind her store.

Willow is a carefree soul that has a holistic store. Willow and her Nan lived at the top of the store. Needing money for rent and living expenses, Willow says yes to a year's agreement.

Randolph and Willow learned how to work together with all the ups and downs as two very different worlds collide. When they marry each other for money, it's really hard to trust that there's real feelings from the other.

Wonderful love story! Refreshing to read in-depth characters!

I was given an ARC for an honest review.
I liked this authors take on a marriage of convenience. I wasn't hooked with their love connection at first but the couple drew me into their world. It was tough for me to put down. I couldn't help cheer for this couple
Willow and Randolph weren't friends. They were acquaintances at best but they both needed each other. The pair confirmed that they could heat up the sheets after they ironed out the details and signed the contract .
Willow wasn't brought up in the same manner of Randolph. She wasn't educated and had limited possession that she was bringing into the marriage.
What she was did bring was her free spirited nature. She was able to help Randolph break out of his stuffy persona.
I loved how they were able to lean on each other when times got tough. They showed their strengths and weaknesses to each other. They proved that the relationship was more then between the sheets.
The other characters were all likeable. I loved Randolph's parents and grandparents and Willow's Nan

On the Dotted Line is your basic marriage of convenience story. What really made this story special was the characters. Randolph is a banker. His family owns banks. He's very logical and goal oriented and used to dealing with things like contracts, insurance, and numbers. His father has had a checklist for his whole life. One of the requirements is that he get married by his 33rd birthday. He only has a few hours to go. His prospective bride backed out at the last minute and now he's scrambling to find a replacement. Enter Willow. She doesn't care about material goods. She owns a metaphysical shop and makes her own teas and natural remedies. Randolph has to try to convince her to marry him for a year and do it right now. And also follow all of the requirements in the contract. I love these two characters, how they complement each other and how they grow throughout the story. I just loved it.

On the Dotted Line

This is the second book I have read by Kim Carmichael. I have to say right off the bat, she doesn't disappoint.

On the Dotted Line starts right out with Randolph and his friends discussing a wedding that didn't happen, and a contract he had with his father, regarding his future.

In walks Willow. She is the total opposite of Randolph. She doesn't care much about money, or possessions. She cares about her Nan, her shop, and her dog.

What Kim does with these characters, and their intertwined relationships is truly captivating. This is one of the few books that TRULY had me laughing out loud in spots. I was grinding my teeth in others. Along the way, anger, sadness, and joy. She truly brought her characters to life.

On the Dotted Line is a true MUST read. Treat yourself today. Trust me, you will be happy you did.

He needs a wife by midnight or he loses all he's worked for. She needs money or she will be homeless along with her nan. With no other options, a marriage of convenience is formed.

The story line was interesting and what these two went through was entertaining and troublesome. I loved her strength and individuality that made her stay true to herself. His determination to always get what he wants and his attentiveness was endearing. But the selfishness he showed in her struggles to fit in were irritating. He didn't help her where she needed it most to succeed. And she didn't show more to him of her deeper feelings.

I know those factors are what make the struggles in the story but I felt like maybe the his character could have been more like able. And maybe shown a little more of their day to day life. But I still really enjoyed this story.
