The new best seller The Freedom Diaries tells how author Mark Holloway discovers completely by accident how to have a back and forward conversation with God. Thousands of other Christians are reading Mark’s story - many who read the book say they too now have their own back and forward conversation with God.
After 37 years of believing in a God who seldom speaks clearly, Mark’s life goes down the plughole in a single day. Worse, he discovers it’s his own doing. Terrified he screams out to God and to his amazement God speaks back - and keeps on talking. An unbelievable conversation with God begins. As his life continues to slide into an abyss, Mark is plagued by doubt. Would God really talk to him like this? Then he discovers his conversations with God have made him a disappointment to religious people. Thoroughly disillusioned he decides to stop.
But God keeps talking. Every day God turns up and says encouraging and hopeful things when there is no hope. Thousands of others hear what Mark is doing and try it themselves. Many discover that they too are having a conversation with God without having to be all perfect. A real back and forward conversation with God, just like friends.
Mark guarantees that if you read his story you'll start hearing God speak to you, and I for one can attest to that! This book has thrown the doors of my relationship with God wide open. I will never approach or think of prayer in the same way. I recommend this book to anyone who desires to hear God speak to them!
I found it good but I'm used to the idea of how to have back and forward conversations with God already. The book assumes that the majority of Christians don't know how to have a conversation with God. So for me it didn't introduce too many new ideas. It will be a great aid to people who are unfamiliar with this concept. It's good to read about someone else doing something I've been somewhat taking for granted, somewhat. This should be a natural part of our Christian faith. So if you don't know how to hear from God or have a conversation with Him, this is a worthwhile read. The overall tone of the book is positive all the way through, even when dealing with the difficult stuff.
wow. I saw Mark on Instagram and immediately downloaded his book. The premise is simple: God wants to have paragraph-long conversations with you. Period. And He will if you simply turn your attention to Him and step out in faith by writing what God is saying back to you. It's so simple. Yet, this book really really stirred me on the inside.
The book isn't really a how-to, although there is a chapter or two about exactly what to do. But really, it's mainly full of Mark's conversations with God. I couldn't put it down and so much of it resonated with me and (what's the spiritual phrase?) my spirit bore witness to it.
I'm not going to say I highly recommend it b/c if I had read it 5 years ago I wouldn't have believed it and looked down on Mark's experience. (Hello religion.) But. If you are hungry for the voice of the Lord, if you are certain there is something more that you haven't experienced with Him yet, this book will show you the something you need to experience.
The thoughts in this book, and the basic premise, can be life changing if approached from the standpoint that this is one man’s experience with God. In my experience, God interacts differently with everyone in many different ways, all of which can be found in the Scriptures. This book describes one way. However, it is an exciting way to talk with God! Of course He wants to converse with us!
I was encouraged by reading this book to listen more to God and expect Him to talk to me more— and that’s a good thing 🤩. For those who struggle to connect with God, or those who really want to improve their communication with Him, I highly recommend this book.
The one thing that I found a little disconcerting was the suggestion that everyone should experience God in this way, i.e. this is what God wants. No doubt, God wants improved communications with his children, but I don’t believe that this way is inherently better or clearer than any other Scriptural way that we connect with God.
WRONG PREMISE; he starts thinking there is a god and that god can interact with him. Other religions and the mentally ill believe that too but he wouldn't believe that they were correct so we shouldn't assume that he is correct. Belief in god is not spirituality but psychology and sociology in action. There is NO GOD and no PROOF that the Christian view of god is nearer to truth than any others.
I had a lot of spiritual revelations while reading this. A lot of Christian books have 2-3 ideas which they expand on but this had sometimes 2-3 per paragraph. But one overall idea which will impact my walk with God forever. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves God.
