There is balance in life most know nothing about. Some are put here to simply exist, while others have been placed here to ensure life. Healers such as Aldo Lawson understand the power of their gift, although at times, it seems more a curse. Upon meeting a handsome young healer named Thomas, Aldo’s life heads into a tailspin. With his arrival, Aldo’s aunt is forced to share a hard and scary truth—vampires exist. And not only do they exist, but they thirst for healer blood. Despite this new and frightening information, Aldo longs for a normal senior year. So close to achieving her goal, her world turns upside down when her aunt is murdered and Thomas disappears. Riddled with questions, she sets out to find him. Submerged in a world filled with danger, Aldo hopes to find the vampires that will lead her to Thomas. When they find her first, she is forced to piece together truths, deal with her pain, and find that not everything is what it seems.

3 Stars!
Aldo is a healer. She absorbs energy from someone else and can heal a person that's hurt. She has two brothers. They are triplets and they are all healers. Their life has been not so great. Their aunt is raising them and because of all their special gift they have had to move around a lot. Never staying in one place being afraid to being found out by others.
Aldo meets a guy one day who is a healer like her. The only problem is he is older than her. Aldo is only 17 and Thomas is 26. Aldo wants Thomas but Thomas refuses her advances because she is so young.
Thomas has another special gift. He can come to you in your dreams. He comes to Alda's dreams almost every night. They spend a lot of time together and fall in love.
Then something tragic happens and Alda is left in the dark.
This is when I felt the book went flat for me. I felt the story was confusing and it jumps from past to present.
I'm not a fan of the h falling in love with the H only later to fall in love with another H. I also read the descriptions on the next two books and it looks like their is another H. So yea. This series isn't for me. I liked this one but not enough to continue:))

"Remember, family is everything. We're stronger together."

I really don't know if I can write an appropriate review for this book or not. I just don't have the words...okay let me see....

I had had it on my tbr list for a while and then I was offered an arc which ultimately pushed it further up my list. I can't say that I really knew what to expect, if I'm being honest. BUT, with that being said, I can say I was surprised in the best way possible.

Okay, so I don't want to spoil anything so this may be vague. The story starts with drama of course. Aldo is a healer. She's minding her own business going to buy poster board, of all things, when a little girl is hit by a truck. She knows she has no choice but to heal her. But then realizes the driver of the truck is also a healer. Healers are so rare to run into, she is in shock by him. After he enters her dreams they meet and then quickly become best friends. Actually with her whole family. Aldo falls quickly in love with Thomas but he keeps pushing her away until he doesn't anymore. And that's where everything really started getting interesting and....complicated, and confusing, and I'll stop telling about the story so I don't accidentally spoil. :)

"Everything and everyone are not always what they seem."

I must say, the first 20%?? of the book was a little slow for me, maybe. I guess it was basically getting all the info in so the story could build on something. I loved Thomas and all of the angst of him pushing her away, then being jealous, then being all secretive and an ass. I just knew they were meant to be eventually. However, when the fire happened, I started to wonder... Things started getting fishy, and that whole back and forth between past tense and present tense was messing with my head. haha

Then I met Rhett. Oh how I loved Rhett. Then I felt guilty for loving Rhett, because I loved Thomas, right?!?!? Then I didn't trust one or the other or both. Then I loved only RHETT, hahahah, then there was a major, major head spinning, wtf are you kidding me twist. YEP! Just be prepared.

"I'm scared you'll stay here and I'll get blocked out somehow, but I'm scared when you wake up you won't want me. Either way, I would have to exist without you."

Needless to say, I loved the book. I read it basically in one day. I NEED the next like yesterday, lol. I read the blurb for the next and already I want to choke Aldo. WTF??!?!? Why is she going to do that?!?!?! And as much as I love Rhett, looking over some of the things Thomas said leave me wondering if everything Rhett said about him was all completely true. Sigh.....I want it so bad.

4.5 confused stars

ok, I'm already familiar with B. N. Toler's writing style so I was prepared to be tossed around and confused while and after reading...and honestly, the last 15% of the story gave the explanation to the messed up events, turmoiled actions and perpetual fuck ups through out the book.

At first I liked the heroine then I started to dislike her actions somewhere in the middle, didn't get it and could not approve either, then nearing the end everything came into the perspective and all of the sudden I have a somewhat clear picture of "what the fuck" was going on, and then I realize the story ended leaving you at the new beginning...

and the only sentence that really makes sense right now is this:
NOTHING IS WHAT IT SEEMS...

well, could have fooled me...

Amazing Debut for B.N. Toler! A Paranormal series so different from the rest I hate to call it a PNR!

Description:

Healers, such as Aldo Lawson understand the power of their gift, although at times, it seems more a curse. Upon meeting a handsome young healer named Thomas, Aldo's life heads into a tailspin. With his arrival, Aldo's aunt, the woman who raised her, is forced to share a hard and scary truth--vampires exist. And not only do they exist, but they thirst for healer blood.

Aldo's world is turned upside down when her aunt is murdered and Thomas disappears. Riddled with questions, she sets out to find him.

Submerged in a world filled with sex and danger, Aldo hopes to find the vampires that will lead her to Thomas. When they find her first, she is forced to piece together truths, deal with her pain, and finds that not everything is what it seems

The Author gave me this book for an honest review. Thanks Ms Toler

My Thoughts:

Wow, where do I start.

Is the book perfect no, it is a first novel by a very new writer however, that being said holy cow! this is a breath of fresh air in the Vampire genre. In fact, it is not so much a Vampire novel as it is a truly paranormal novel. The writing is fabulous and as you keeping reading the novel it gets better and better. Her characters were interesting, in some places sketchy but since this is a 3 part series I think a lot of the blanks will be filled in as we make our way to the ending of book 3. Aldo is an interesting character although at times confusing but confusing in a young girl way. She struggles with her feelings and fears. She has the normal teenage angst and behaves as expected around a cute older guy. Thomas is a mystery from moment one and that is what keep us readers on our toes right until the end and actually even then I was chomping at the bit for the next one.

The book started out writing from Aldo's "present" and then we are faced with chapters bouncing from present to 6 years before. I was a bit confused at first but muddled my way through and got used to it. I wonder if a simple chapter title would make this a smoother transition? Apart from that the story flows with it's bends and twirls and sudden change in direction then twisting once again. I admittedly was finding myself flabbergasted in the last 1/4 of the book. The spins were enough to make me want to read all night.

Starting a world from scratch is difficult for even the most experience authors and even then the first book of the series is often the worst as there is so much to explain. BNT did this seemlessly and using the different points in time as a vehicle to further her plot and keep the story moving.

Brava Ms Toler on an excellent first book and I can't wait for 2014 to read the next book in this trilogy! Toler's name is now in my *watch* list and with writing this good I know her future books will be amazing.

5 stars for this budding author and a standing ovation for the uniquness of the story and the ingenuity used to keep readers surprised. A MUST read this Fall ..don't miss what the buzz is all about read this today:)

I received a copy of this story for an honest review.

Aldo Lawson is not your normal teenager. Born the only girl in a set of special triplets, Aldo and her brothers always feared the world around them. Their Aunt Lucy has raised them to know that their ability to heal others, taking energy from themselves or those near them and transferring to people in need, makes them different and puts them in constant danger.

“We are in the business of stealing energy. We take from the strong and give it to the weak. Healer Robin Hoods.”

Aunt Lucy has kept Aldo and her brother’s safe by spending years on the run. Just when the group thinks they’ve reached a level of calm and normalcy, everything blows apart when an unexpected healing after a parking lot accident introduces Aldo to another of her kind, Thomas Watson.

“He was the same as me, a healer, yet seemed so different, like some exotic creature from a foreign land.”

The attraction between teenage Aldo and twenty-something Thomas is instant, strong, and a major red-flag to Aunt Lucy. The sparks between the two result in Aunt Lucy revealing a huge secret – Vampires are real, the thing they want most is Healer blood, and they’ll stop at nothing to get it including using other Healer’s. Suddenly everyone’s motives are in question. Does Thomas really care for Aldo and if so why does he keep disappearing? Why did Lucy wait until Thomas’s arrival to share the truth about Vampires with the triplets?

The story then starts to jump between teenage Aldo’s POV and Aldo’s POV six years in the future. Adult Aldo is now living alone, working as a stripper, and desperately searching for the man who demolished her heart and left her broken - Thomas.

Adult Aldo’s quest to find Thomas and answers about why he left is complicated by a blood healer by the name of Rhett Mason. Blood healers are healers who were once like Aldo but have been turned Vampire. Rhett has taken an interest in Aldo and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her away from Thomas.

“You can write him a short letter to say goodbye, and I strongly suggest you discourage him from trying to find you. I will you this one thing as a token of trust. I can be your best friend through all of this or be your worst enemy.”

Between the action, danger, and mystery, Toler still manages to sneak in a few moments of hotness for her heroine.

“With one last major pull, I thought I would pass out, and suddenly, he pushed hard and fast, and he released into me, moaning my name. Flooded with sheer ecstasy, I was a puddle of a young woman that had just been undone.”

“Healer” is a diamond in the rough. It’s the first book from a self-published author and though there are a few minor issues with formatting, spelling, and continuity those didn’t keep me from enjoying the overall story. If you actually look past them you’ll find a pretty damn impressive paranormal read. Strong heroine dealing with special powers of healing and dream walking – check. Two hot mysterious guys with their own unique powers and questionable intentions – check. Vampire characters creating a real feeling of danger and foreboding – check. Unpredictable ending – super-duper check.

This book had me taking reading breaks at work like I was a literary smoker (Just a page or two more and I’ll quit, I swear!). I have no doubt as Toler digs deeper into the characters and universe she’s created, the stories are only going to get better and better.

For paranormal fans, I recommend checking out “Healer” and showing Toler some love. “Healer” is the first part in a planned three part series and the follow-up novel “Hybrid” will be released in 2014. I’m already looking forward to it. Happy Reading.

“Death is normal. It’s part of the cycle. Death is what makes living so much more beautiful.”
“Tell that to the person about to die.”
“We can’t save everyone.”

The good: Looks can be deceiving readers. If you judge this book just by it’s cover you are missing out since it is very well written and a breath of fresh air to its genre! It’s story line is interesting, the characters are likable, and the pacing is fabulous. It has a nice balance of paranormal, suspense, and romance!! Yes, guys!! There is romance in this also! *yippee!*

description

My thoughts: What a pleasant surprise!! When I had first received the book request from B.N. Toler herself to review her book, I initially frowned at the cover because it wasn’t the most aesthetically pleasing to look at. But after going to its goodreads page and reading other reviewers’ feedback, I had to move this book up the list of my ARC’s and RC’s and read it right away!

And I’m glad that I did!

description

I won’t go too much into detail because I don’t want to spoil anything and rather you guys just read it for yourself so….

Aldo’s, the book’s protagonist, story deviates back and forth from past and present telling her background story from when she was 17 and her present day age at 24.

Aldo is just your ordinary girl EXCEPT … she is one of three triplets who have special gifts. As you might have guessed, she has the power to heal but she also has the ability to transfer energy amongst people, and absorb information from individuals from touch.

There are many interesting twists and turns that came about because they were so unexpected and unforeseen. I often found myself thinking, “What?!” or “Wow, I did not expect that!”.

description

description

Gosh, I loved the character development and the substance of the plot and was really sad when I had reached the book’s ending. I was like, “NO!!” I was that hooked! Lol.

“Healer” is just one of three in a series and I’m already itching to read more! Thank you B.N. Toler for recognizing my reviews on goodreads and reaching out to me to review your book! I truly enjoyed it!

I highly recommend to my friends!

Wow. I just finished Healer and I have to say that I'm hooked. Absolutely, hooked. The premise of the story was solid but the execution was exceptional. Toler weaves a tale of fear, love, lust, betrayal, hope, and redemption all within a few short pages. The characters created a story that completely drew you into it from the very beginning. Poor Aldo. You felt sorry for her and wanted to ring her neck all at the same time. But, she was young so some of her angst was too be expected. At one point in the story the author created a timeline that seemed to jump between the present and the past. It almost seemed like it was fractured but when you get to the end of the story it actually makes sense in why the timeline seemed to merge the present with the past. And speaking of the ending...BLOWN. AWAY! I was not expected that sequence of events at all. It was simply brilliant. As you read along you will not even realize "where" you are until you reach the end and you will be gobsmacked. Yes...gobsmacked. I totally loved the story and the direction of the series. I have already downloaded Hybrid because I'm eager to know what happens next.

Favorite Line(s) “Some may see it as a romantic, whimsical term, but I see it differently. For starters, if fate is real, then we really don’t have any control over our own lives.”

“There are moments in life that occur in the blink of an eye, yet as you watch them; it seems they play out in slow motion”

“The only feeling I can muster now is fear. Fear of what lies ahead. Fear of this strange blood healer, Rhett. Fear that I will never have any secrets I can keep from him or Sarah.”

“My name is Aldo Lawson. I’m awake. And I’m a Hybrid.”

What a fabulous new paranormal story! I really enjoyed the difference of this story.
I love paranormal stories as EVERYONE knows. This story gave me my paranormal fix and gave me something I haven't seen in a paranormal story before! It's a fabulous story.
Aldo is a healer but, not how we think. She takes energy from someone young and healthy and gives it to the person that needs healing. Also, her brother, and her guardian Lucy are all healers. They are always on the run afraid of what? Aldo doesn't know until she meets Thomas! A beautiful healer! He tells her of things. Like Vampires and Blood Healers. She loves him and that's when things get crazy! I only had one problem with this book and it's when Aldo looked back on her life it didn't tell you she was looking back so I got a little confused but, it's a small thing compared to this fabulous book!
I can't believe I have to wait until 2014 for book 2 but its worth it!

This is a defiantly an author to watch out for!

I was given this book in exchanger for an honest review

~3.5 stars~

A creative read - nice series starter

This was a unique book. I really liked how it wasn’t one of those that felt similar to many others I've read in the past. I went into expecting a vampire read, while there were vampires, that aspect certainly didn’t consume the story. It seemed to be a pretty minor detail actually. The story flowed well and the characters were pretty solid. While the ending left much to be desired, I still think I will continue on to book 2.

3.5 stars. A good first book but I have to admit I was a little confused in the beginning over the world building and I found the pacing slow and frustrating at times. It is a fresh take on the vamp troupe though and I will definitely pick up book 2 to see what happens next.

Prior to reading this I heard this is the next up and coming book in the vampire craze. While there are vampires the book is not overall all about vampires. This book was brilliant. While reading it, I kept thinking to myself that this must be an author with dozens of titles on Amazon. My surprise was this was the only book by B.N. Toler on Amazon and it rivals most of the books I have read today as one of the best novels I have read so far this year and left be yearning for more in Aldo's story.

Aldo, her two bothers, and her aunt Lucy are used to life on the run. Their aunt wanted nothing more than for them to have some sort of a normal life their senior year in high school, so she settled them into town. Their goal is to lay low, but while that's what was suppose to happen, it didn't stay that way for long. One day at the store, Also sees a young girl get hit by a car in the street. Aldo rushes over to save the girl from death. What does no one know? That Aldo and her brothers have a gift. The gift to heal people. They can't save anyone who is already destined to die, but they can help others that are hurt. You see, not only is she rare as a healer but the fact that she's a triplet and all three of them have the power to heal others make them rare and according to their aunt, sought out. It's here that Aldo meets Thomas. Thomas also tries to help the girl, and reveals in the process that he is also a healer. Thomas grows close to the family. He's 6 years older than Aldo so she knows they can never be since she's only seventeen, but that doesn't stop Aldo from falling in love with him.

Aldo has many gifts, another unique gift she has is gathering information about those she touches and in her dreams she learns useful information about them. It's here that Thomas begins to visit her. Normally her subconscious makes those that visit her, but Thomas has the ability to dream walk and comes to see her many times. Thomas himself has many secrets, most of which are never revealed. He does however tell Aldo that he and his brother move around a lot also hiding from the vampires. Vampires use their kind to make blood healers, in which the vampire drains a human of blood and the blood healer heals the person. Aldo doesn't know what to make of it so when she confronts her aunt about it, she's shocked to discover that Thomas wasn't lying. Thomas and Aldo continue to grow close and on their last night together they consummate their relationship in her dreams. After that moment, Thomas begs Aldo to run away with him. He says he most leave but cannot tell her why. She agrees, but the next morning her world begins to fall apart. Lucy tells the triplets that she has a healing session and to go to the mall and come back in six house when they come back their aunt is dead and Thomas is gone.

What ensues is a series of events that will change the course of Aldo's life forever. She leaves her family behind in hiding and goes on the search for Thomas. It takes her five years to find him. It's here that she's kidnapped by the blood healers. But what if she finds out things as she thought they were are not really what they seem? What if she answers she's been searching for turn her entire world upside down? Who really are Rhett and Sarah and what will they teach Aldo about their way of life? What if she really discovers that blood healers are more than just soul less vampires created only to take her life from her?

At first I was confused between the back and forth between five years ago and the present. But as the story progressed I started to see that every single event from five years ago was relevant to the present day story. This book was great and I just couldn't stop reading it. I look forward to reading the next book in this Hybrid and finding out what happens next in this compelling series, 5 stars.

A huge thanks to the author for sharing her work with me and introducing me to Aldo and her story.

This exciting new take on paranormal romance deserves a resounding 5 stars and a frustrated scream that HYBRID isn't expected out until 2014!

Who forgot to tell me this was part of a series? Now I’m supposed to WAIT for book #2? Come on!!!! What are you doing to me, Ms. Toler? I need the rest of Aldo’s story and I need it YESTERDAY!

Please don’t let my ranting deter you – while there is a slight cliffhanger, HEALER is still a complete story. It’s just that it’s so freaking good that I really want to know what happens!!!!

Get ready to be on the edge of your seat and in the dark for 90% of the book. The reader follows Aldo as she tries to reconcile what she’s been told growing up about her special abilities with what she learns along the way. The beginning of HEALER goes back and forth between the past (when Aldo is 17 turning 18 and meets another healer named Thomas, the first she’s met outside of her family) and her present, where she’s searching for Thomas. Aldo has a special ability to help people who are sick, hurt, or close to death by pulling energy from a healthy person and transferring this energy into the person who is hurt. She never takes life, only helps heal those who aren’t meant for death yet. For most of her life, she’s been in hiding; moving every few years from those who would use her powers for bad, though who these people are she doesn’t know. But her aunt tells her they must be careful and she complies. Meeting Thomas changes everything for Aldo though, and she’s forced to decide who to trust: her family or her heart.

I was torn right alongside Aldo as she tries to understand what Thomas isn’t saying versus what others do say. Right when I’m sure I’ve figured a few things out, along comes Rhett, a gorgeous and mysterious man who has his own opinions about what Aldo should believe and who she should trust.

B.N. Toler does an amazing job of mixing the past and the present and keeping us in the dark without needlessly frustrating the reader. I was dying to know what was going on but it only made me unable to put the book down. I was swept up in the story, the characters, and I am in giddy anticipation of what will come in HYBRID. I only hope it comes fast because I need to know what happens to everyone I’ve come to love!!!

Healer
By: B N Toler

That moment that you finish a book and you keep flipping through the pages because you think the author is playing some cruel joke on you because there is no way the book could end the way it did, yes that is what I just did when I finished Healer. If you would love an amazing paranormal series I more than suggest that you read Healer I demand it to be read by everyone!
**Spoiler Alert**
Healer starts out with Aldo going shopping for some poster board when she sees a young girl get hit by a truck. Thomas the driver of the truck happens to be a healer (which Aldo happens to also be a healer). You don’t just walk around and just find a healer, so it was a huge surprise for Aldo when meeting Thomas. Aldo falls in love with Thomas and they do the hippity dippity in a dream. Lucy, Aldo’s Aunt dies in a fire and Thomas disappear all on the same day. Aldo and her brother move to Florida where Aldo finds out she is pregnant and has her son Beau. When Beau is a few months old Aldo takes off in hopes to find Thomas and let him know he has a child. After six years of searching Aldo finally comes into contact with Thomas who tries to get her to go back to her brothers. Instead of leaving she goes back for more last night of work where she is kidnapped by Rhett a blood healer (a healer turned into a vampire). Rhett takes her to an old farm home where she starts to fall in love with Rhett.

Sneaky sneaky cleverly done book! I will admit at first I was a little put off by this book. For a chunk of the book each chapter bounced from past to present and it would throw me off. Every time things were getting interesting the next chapter would be from a different time period and it took a little bit for things to fall into place. BUT once things started making more sense I was completely sucked in! Healer is a truly original story with a really unique spin on vampires, healers, and their dealings. I don't want to give to much away but I can say that this book is full of so many crazy twists and turns it kept me guessing and I was completely surprised by the end! It also left me very interested to see where the series goes from here. In my opinion Healer is definitely worth checking out!

I was up till one o'clock on a work night finishing this one. Paranormal romances is a genre that has become redundant. Most of the stories sound the same. Healer threw me for a loop. It was unique and man at the turns it takes.

The fact that Aldo is a strong and dedicated heroine makes it all the better for me. She never gives up, just keeps pushing through. B.N. Toler does a wonderful job at making you feel her pain as she goes through with her journey. I literally felt all the anguish that Aldo felt.

I recommend you read this book if you haven't already!!!

I received this copy from the author for an honest review, and found myself not wanting to put it down! The whole story just blew me away.

This story is told by Aldo from 2 different times in her life. The present (or what she thinks is the present), where she's 24, and then from her memories at being 17. She, her brothers Whit and Hudson are triplets raised by their aunt Lucy, and they all have a special kind of ability to them... They're Healers. Healers can hear hear the energy that humans have thru their vibrations and pitches and when someone is in need of healing they pull energy from other sources (people) and push that energy into the person in need. They call themselves 'Healer Robin Hoods' . Though they cannot interfere with a person who is on the verge of death.

Healers that practice healing on others don't generally stay in one area too long, for fear of being caught by Vampires or Blood Healers. A Healer's blood, is much more divine than any other persons blood. Blood Healers are Healers that have been turned by a vampire and are able to walk in the sunlight.

When Aldo was 17, there was an accident at a store she was at where a little girl got hit by a truck. She can sense that her vibrations and pitches are consistent so she knows that she can be saved. Rushing around trying to decide who has the best energy to pull from, she decides on the driver who hit the child.... But he starts pulling HER energy.. So now she's pretty freaked out because not only did she just meet another healer, but SHE is the energy source!! So she cuts off his connection with her. Now with him shocked and amazed she's a healer, Aldo starts to push her own energy into the child. Which is a big no no, since she's just draining herself.

After she comes too from blacking out, the other healer stuck around to introduce himself as Thomas and they talked for a little bit. But later on in her dreams is where she really gets to know him, since she also has the ability absorb any information by a single touch. . . In her dreams, Thomas is there, they talk some more / she asks him questions.. All the while thinking it's her own subconscious she's speaking with, when in actuality he is IN THE DREAM with her; he's a dream walker.. In the dream he invites her to meet him at a restaurant, and that's when he tells her that he's 25 and finds out that she's only 17. That's pretty much just crushed Aldo's world, especially when he calls her a kid.

He decides she's more like the sister he's never had and befriends her and her family. They all become very close with Thomas; Aldo even falls in love with him. Then one day, when her aunt has scheduled a healing at their house, she sends Aldo and her brothers away for the afternoon.... Their lives will never be the same....

I could really go on and on and on and ON about this story, but I don't want to give too much away!!!! Ahhhhh! I just really love how it was all done, and how it came together. Ms. Toler did an amazing job! It kind of had me thinking of the movie “Inception” just from all of the dream sequences.

A few things I will say is that I am in love with Rhett's character, and hope he kicks Thomas's little ass when they find him LOL. . . *Dramatic Music* !!

When Rhett and Aldo arrived at the farmhouse, he looked it over and said, “Interesting”.. I kind of had an idea of what was happening, and loved it, great idea!

Also, I think it'd be pretty neat if Aldo became a Blood Healer.. With Rhett.....*swoon*!!!

“I never thought I would be able to feel for someone again, because I shut myself off to it. She saved you and because she did..., I found you.” - Rhett Mason

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Aldo Lawson is a healer. She also absorbs information from people she touches. Aldo and her brothers, Hudson and Whit, live with their aunt Lucy. Their family moves around a lot. Aldo and her brothers don’t really know why, they just always have. One day, while healing a child, Aldo’s world collides with Thomas’s. Thomas is also a healer. The Lawson’s eventually allow Thomas into their world. They come to depend on him being around, and they learn new information that Lucy hid. Vampires are desperate to capture healers for a breeding program. Aldo has fallen in love with Thomas, but he keeps pushing her away. Just when Aldo starts to see a future with Thomas, everything gets blown to hell. Fast forward about five years. Aldo left her family behind to try to find Thomas. She’s working as a stripper hoping to get an in with some vampires and some clues to find Thomas. Enter Rhett and Sarah. They take Aldo to keep her safe from the vampires looking for her. Will Aldo ever find Thomas? What secrets did Thomas have? Will Aldo be able to put Thomas behind her and have a future with Rhett?

I absolutely loved this book. It was a whole new take on vampires. Healer was very well-written and fast-paced. I finished in one sitting. The author has such a way with words that you’re sucked in from the very beginning. I loved Aldo and her take charge attitude. I loved that she fought for what she wanted. She also really frustrated me with her obsessive tendencies toward Thomas. She is all or nothing with her love and finds it hard to stop loving once she starts. Thomas, I’m still not sure on my feeling for him. I think right now I love to hate him. I’m not sure what games he’s playing. I hope to find out more in the next book. I loved Rhett. He was such a sweetheart. The way he took care of Aldo and put her needs above his own, made me fall in love with him. Healer had the perfect amount of clues that kept me intrigued and let me shout “I knew it” at the end. I also loved that the ending didn’t leave you hanging but still left you wanting more. I am definitely looking forward to the next book.

Have you ever read a book that when you were finished, you realized your jaw was on the floor and you were left thinking….what the BEEP did I just read? That’s me right now. I not only want to read the next book in the series, but I need it! This book would not let me put it down for one minute. I inhaled it.

The book is about Aldo Lawson. She is a healer. She comes from a family of healers. Aldo is a 17 year old triplet. They are living with their aunt Lucy who is the twin sister of their mother. Their mother died at the birth of her three children. Aldo and her family have moved many times over the years. Why? As to not be found. By who? Vampires. Vampires love the taste of healer blood but that is not the only reason they want healers. Their victims can be healed by the healers and also if a healer is turned into a vampire, their powers are increased.

All Aldo wants is a normal life. She is in her senior year of high school and just wants a small taste of what it is like to live like the rest of the world. When she meets Thomas, she thinks that normal is a possibility since he is also a healer. She finally has someone besides her family that she can be who she truly is around and with. Aldo falls head over heels in love with him. Just when that taste of normal is becoming a reality, all hell breaks loose. Lucy is dead and Thomas is gone. Aldo and her brothers turn to the only life they ever known…on the run. When Lucy leaves her brother behind to go looking for Thomas, she is thrown into a world unlike any she has ever experienced before.

I fell in love with this book early on and did not stop until I read the whole thing. It was well written and the characters are easy to relate with. Closer to the end when things were being revealed to the not only Aldo but also to the reader, I was amazed. It was truly brilliant! I never thought the book would end that way. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes the genre. I will definitely be reading the second book in the series!

While most people are put on this earth with a sense of purpose most never actually figure out what that purpose is.
For Aldo Lawson it is the exact opposite. Her purpose is to heal. Drawing energy from the healthy to heal the sick. Sometimes though she believes her power to be a hindrance more than something to be cherished.
When a healer named Thomas enters her life Aldo is drawn to him, wanting to spend every moment in his company, her aunt is soon forced to admit a few truths involving Vampires and the blood of Healers. Setting off a sequence of events that turn Aldo’s world upside down.
I found Aldo to be a very interesting character, although a young character you can feel her strength in the writing and yet also her childlike vulnerability.
With many twists to this tale I was quickly drawn into the plot, I desperately wanted to learn more.
The surrounding characters add a depth to this story and every single one is necessary to making this work.
Although vampires feature in this they not the usual teen pleasing vamp. The dark alluring side is evident without the cheesy dialogue. My faith is once again restored in my favourite mythical beings.
Although this book is in essence a paranormal story the surrounding romance became my favourite part, the way Aldo became torn between Thomas and Rhett even after knowing what Thomas was capable of only intrigued me more. I would really love to know what happened next.
I love how this book is written with many moments that will keep the reader guessing till the end, it has put a new spin on the ever increasing influx of Vamps for me and I applaud it.

An absolute mind-blowing, super intense, page turning story!! How's that for a mouth full??

A lot of books claim in their blurb that "nothing is ever what it seems" but very few actually deliver that promise. B.N. Toler has delivered that & then some! You will be absolutely captivated by this intriguing and completely unique story of healers & vampires and the balance of life. Healer is one of those books that will stay on your mind long after you've finished reading b/c of the overall impact it leaves, just complete & utter amazement.

I just love a story that I can sink my teeth into (no pun intended) and get lost in for hours. With a book as well written as Healer, it isn't too hard to do. There is plenty of drama, mystery & suspense and romance to keep you well entertained, and swooning from time to time. The suspense build up is seriously intense, and the elaborate detail & construction of this world will just have you astounded. You really don't know who to trust or what to believe until the very end. And when you find out the truth your mind will be blown! You can expect to read with bated breath as you will literally be on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

Ms. Toler has combined amazing character development with an unbelievable story line to present you with this gem. I would highly recommend Healer and will be anxiously awaiting more releases from this talented author.

4.5 Stars

Aldo and her brothers are triplets about to graduate from high school. For once in their young lives they were able to stay in one place for an atucal length of time. Because their Aunt who raised them always told them if they stayed in one place too long "they" would find them. You see they have a secret Aldo and her family are healers. Able to feel the vibrations of a person a heal most people. But when a young girl is hit by a car and rather than be the one to heal her is used by another person to do the healing she finds there is more to her world than she ever knew. As she becomes closer to Thomas terrible things happen. What happens next is the story of her survival in circumstances she never thought possible. And only when she learns who she can really trust can she see the world for what it really is.

Aldo is young and maybe a bit naive, but she's doing the best she can under the circumstances. Seeing her struggles as she tries to find her way makes you feel her pain and want to see her overcome all the hardships she has faced. Watching her grow up and learn her place in the world where everything is so confusing you root for her to find the happiness she has always wanted.

The begining may seem a bit confusing but as you continue reading you understand more and more until you come to the shocking truths she learns near the end. Loved watching her journey and am definitely excited to see more of this story in the future.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review. I completely agree with a previous post; this book is truly a diamond in rough.

Aldo Lawson, the protagonist, is triplet who happens to possess extraordinary powers. Not only is she a healer, absorbing the energy of others to save lives; but she can also absorb information for anyone she touches. Every since Aldo was young her family (brothers and Aunt Lucy) were constantly moving. But the triplets were in high school and Aunt Lucy decided they deserved some normalcy. However, the appear of Thomas, another healer, changed their lives completely. His appearance brought pain, danger, lost and vampires. Throughout the book, Aldo must come to grips with what she believes to be true and what actually is true.

I would recommend this book to a friend. Honestly, I did have issues with the flow of the story (switching between present day and past). Also, the characters initially appeared to be slightly stereotypical with superficial descriptions. However, as the story developed the characters were given more depth and felt realistic and relatable (as much so for paranormal beings). Additionally, the descriptions of the landscape, horses, and blood healers made the reader feel like he or she was a part of the story.

What an amazing debut!!! B N Toler knows what she is doing.

Aldo is a healer who along with her brothers are raised by their aunt. All of them are healers, when Aldo meets another healer Aldo falls in love and learns soon much about the world of healers. When Aldo's aunt is murder and Thomas disappears Aldo goes to find him.

This is the 1st book by B N Toler, and I must say I love it!!!! I have been hanging around Ms. Toddlers facebook page reading all her post and almost stalking her. The writing is perfect and there were a few parts that had my gut in knots. Aldo is young and her feelings are often mixed, and I found myself feeling the same way. Aldo is often confused by anything dealing with Thomas, then Rhett and who she thinks he is as to what Rhett is proving himself to be. It's all wrapped up in this beautiful story.

This books does go back in forth between a 6 year gap at the beginning of this book, not going to lie it didn't warn you on it, I was sometimes confused but figured it out. Other than that it mixes well going to the past had its purpose and sets up the rest of the book.

I'm very very excited to read HYBRID!!! I have to know Aldo's story and if she gets her revenge.

Healers and vampires - what a beautiful sexy combination brought to you wrapped up in a touching story centered around Aldo, a young girl with the gift of healing and a few other tricks under her belt. There is love of family, love of a fellow healer (or his he?). Just when you think you know which way this story is heading, this talented author puts in a twist that has you questioning 3/4 of everything you have read. I personally fell in love with Rhett and would allow him to drain me dry! Rhett is hot and kind and loving and just scrumptious! When there is finally a joining of the two, the lead up was steamy but I felt their coupling was rushed. I would have loved to have been drawn into their intimate moments. Luckily Hybrid is here and I am excited to jump back into their magical world of revenge and love and I hope for more steam!! I originally purchased this book in July of 2013 - read it, loved it and gave it 4 strong stars. I was lucky enough to receive a gifted copy of The Healer in March of 2014 which had some formatting changes. If I could give 4 1/2 stars I would. These minor changes helped the flow of the book. I would absolutely recommend this beautiful book!
