Spend Christmas in Friday Harbor this year surrounded by the friends you know and a couple of special deliveries from the Hometown Harbor Series.
In between holiday activities, friends of Linda and Max are helping plan their Valentine’s Day wedding. Regi is anxiously awaiting the arrival of her fortieth birthday and the fulfillment of the promise she and Cam made over twenty years ago.
As she anticipates the reunion with Cam, she’s oblivious to the signals the local delivery man, Nate, is giving her. She and Nate work together helping a newcomer open an art and antiques shop. While spending time together, she discovers she has feelings for Nate and bonds with the new shopkeeper over their past losses.
As Regi’s contemplating her choices, she’s dealt a blow that brings her to her knees and reconnects her with the past. In the pursuit of her youthful fairytale promise, she’ll risk the only chance she’s encountered for true happiness and a home.

Well this was another great installment in the Hometown Harbor Series. I just love this place and hate to leave it when each book ends. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment, because there are still many stories to tell. Friday Harbor keeps getting more great friends and neighbors. Again I would love to live in a place like this where everyone cares for each other and goes out of their way to be there. I really enjoyed reading Regi and Nate's story. And I was able to catch up with the other wonderful residents. Do yourself a favor and read this great series. It starts with Finding Home. I also love all the wonderful dogs in this story and how much the characters love their pets.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author for my honest review.
I really love this series and enjoy the characters that continue from book to book with someone new being added in with each new story. It is truly a feel good story and Friday Harbor an idyllic place to live. Although the happily ever after theme could potentially feel a little too good to be true- Tammy Grace has a way of making you just feel happy for this group of friends and wishing you could be a part of it all! SPOILER ALERT! I did not like that Molly had been attacked and sexually assaulted. This event seemed far too minimalized in my opinion and her quick recovery from it emotionally was quite unbelievable. It would have been better to leave that out if time could not be devoted to more details of her recovery. I think having her attacked and robbed would have been a better take on it. My only other comment is how do these people stay so svelte and beautiful when they eat nonstop? So much focus on all this food and eating out. I know what they are going to have whether they go to Lou's, Dottie's or Big Tony's! lol Amazing desserts from Ellie's unless of course they have Sam's scrumptious pies. Maybe the balance is that every time they grill out they have Salmon? Haha- this is just a fun comment- truly I'm jealous. I gain 10 lbs just reading each book! 😂
I do highly recommend the series though and will be sad when I have read the last book. I also loved her Lavender Valley series - another great read!
Story of Regi, who we met in earlier books. She's recently moved to Friday Harbor to keep a promise she made when she was 18 -- that she'd meet the love her of her life on her December birthday if she was unattached (him too) by the time they turned 40. But Regi has another thing to tell him if he shows up -- he's also a dad.
This weird fairytale has some twists and is the most dramatic of the books so far. So the old BF doesn't show up (surprise) and Nate the delivery guy is really into her and she works to get out of the past and into the present. But we're also supposed to believe that she's never dated and has never had sex in 20 years. This is where the triangle gets wonky -- after her daughter is raped on campus (sorry for spoiler, but it needs a caution for some people) she sees the guy. After 20 years. So then it all gets more dramatic cause she has to tell him about his kid. And she's never told the kid about the dad.
This story is probably the best so far. I enjoyed that they were everyday peeps -- not super wealthy. Less descriptions of food -- although garlic bread and the lobster mac and cheese make their appearances over and over again. Gah.
This is the 3rd book of an unputdownable series which tells the story of 6 strong women, in midlife who have had to make their lives again because of things which have happened in their past. Set in Friday Harbor on the San Juan Islands off of the coast of Seattle, a beautiful small town where people help each other out.
This book is starts with a wedding of the 2 people from the 2nd book, but is mainly about Regi and Nate. Regi who moved to the Islands in the last book to wait for her high school friend on their 40th birthday, and who meets someone who has lived in Friday Harbor all his life, Nate, the local delivery man. As with all the other books there's a tradegy and it also introduces new characters to Islands. Its formulaic but it works and I cannot put the books down, I have to read them to their finish.
The books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.
Another fun read about the characters in Friday Harbor. This is the third book in the Hometown Harbor series and life moves on for the characters
Linda and Max have a beautiful Valentine’s wedding and enjoy a honeymoon to Italy. Jeff has recovered from his accident and he and Sam are enjoying life
Regi has come to realize Cam is not returning and she might be alone until Delivery man Nate convinces her to take a second chance. Regi’s daughter Molly is involved in a serious situation. During her recovery, Regi questions many of her life’s choices, including her allowing her brother Leon into her life.
This book contains vivid descriptions of food, flowers and scenery. These descriptions make you feel like you are actually present in the scenes. The main characters are 40ish age and solid mature citizenship
I am always looking for books about mature adults over forty. The principal in this is exactly forty and reassessing her life and choices. She is a single mom to a college student. The stories hit a lot of points for me. The dysfunctional family headed by the overbearing mother. The brother with a substance abuse problem returning to the fold. The lost love who is returning to find her. The community is so wonderful I want to live there. It’s a classless society in which everyone is an active member regardless of economics, gender, age and social status. This is the third in the series and I’m anticipating going back to meet them from the beginning. Lots if texture and depth. Enjoy.
I want to pack up one small box of all my most important possessions, and move to Friday Harbor! Tammy has done it again; I completely feel like this group of close knit friends are like my own, and more of a family than anything. Through the ups and downs, and then more downs when you think things can’t get worse... this group of amazing characters has shown what true strength and the meaning of family is all about. I cried. A lot. I felt the pain, the love and the support between these friends. I can’t wait to read the next installment!
Again, an enjoyable read about couples finding love in their midlife. The setting is the beautiful San Juan Islands and Seattle, Washington and it is fun to visit that location again, simply by closing my eyes. The characters face the ups and downs with a positive attitude. Ms. Grace introduced some traumatic issues in this book and handled them with the perfect response. The books in this series are beautifully written and I highly recommend them. The editing job is top notch.
With the art theft and Leon's slipping back into robbery, drugs and alcohol. Reggie friends still supported her through it all. With Molly's sexualized assault and learning the truth about her father cam, Molly finely came to terms with it and forgave her mom. This is the third wedding in Friday harbor and all the characters are there to enjoy this wonderful day and all many blessings to come. I hope you find this series a delightful and hometown charm as much as I do. I highly recommend.
Reading this 3rd book in the series has more stories about the same people, some of them stronger and more interesting than the others. I gave this book 5 stars because by now I am really into the continuing story line and since the setting is Friday Harbor, a place I really like. However, I did not enjoy this book as much as the first two. I wonder what I should expect from #4. Kudos to the author for these sweet stories.
Nice light read. Don't want to be negative but it was a little over the top with the focus on wealth and how every one seemed to be well to do. My other complaint was while the author didn't seem overly focused on body type except for the nurse. Was it necessary to call her chubby and focus on her ample hips? Really? That is the reason for the 2 stars. That left a bad taste in my mouth.
At 18 Reggi and her boyfriend, Cam split up because he was going to college on the east coast and his rich parents didn't think she was good enough. They agreed to meet again when they were 40. Shortly after he left she found out she was pregnant, didn't tell him, and gave birth to a baby girl. Twenty-two years later Molly is in college, and Reggi has moved back to the island to wait for Cam to show up on their 40th birthdays.
There are several intense sections in the book and one I was disappointed in because it wasn't believable. However, the book was easy-to-read, the characters are very likeable, the friends are characters from the previous books so it's nice to keep in touch with them.
I will definitely read the last two books in this series, I enjoy books set in my area.
I was looking for something new to read when I came across Ms. Grace's books on Amazon prime. I have fallen in love with the characters and can not put my tablet down. I don't normally read contemporary romances but I love this series and have already downloaded more or Ms. Grace's books.
I have been enjoying this series. The characters are lovable and who wouldn’t want to live in this charming island town. I did feel like book 1 was a bit too “happily ever after” as these characters seemed to live charmed lives. Finally book 3 has some true heartache and real life challenges.
This is an emotional story. You can't help but be caught up in Regi's history. You root for her and at times think "Oh, No - Don't Do It. Don't Go There". The additional characters that complete the story make you wish they were your friends. The author has a gift for painting a picture in your mind and you just wish you lived in Friday Harbor or at the very least could visit.
Another story so wonderful I could hardly put it down.
Another wonderful story, I couldn't put it down. Your stories with wonderful friendships, plenty of romance and always a hint of mayhem keep me wanting to read more about these poisoned who overcome adversity and find true friendship and love..
4 stars for A Promise of Home (Hometown Harbor Book 3) which continues with the stories of our favorites Sam and Jeff, Linda and Max, Jen, Megan, Kyle and the introduction of Kate. Regi and Nate find their very own fairy tale. The locals and people of Friday Harbor keep the surprises coming.
Regi got pregnant after spending the summer vacation after high school on the island. Knowing Cam's wealthy family would not stand for any interuptions of his college career, she didn't tell him. Now at almost Forty she moves to the Island and takes two jobs to pay for Molly's college, which will be close by body or ferry. She meets Nate, and he is attracted to her.
There was a lot happening in this book. I am not sure how Regie could get up and keep going forward. She is a strong lady. Enjoyed this book tremendously. Also enjoyed getting to know several new characters added to the Hometown group. Can't wait to read book 4!
Delightful book following along with characters loved from earlier books along with new friends made and old friends turning up. Single mother Regi & Molly, her daughter, are close until an old love (Molly’s dad) shows up and creates angst between the two. It all works out and Regi finds new love. Good read!
Oh how I wanted her to get to meet Cam on her birthday but then I wanted her with Nate. I never dreamed of how it all unrolled. Through out the whole book I was happy, cried tears and was happy again. You miss out if you don’t read this one. Couldn’t put it down. Tammy Grace just proved again what a master Author she is. Now on to the next book.
The third book in the series is as good as the others. More characters join the cast with new friends and family dynamics. The plot is interesting and true to life. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
This Was Wonderful Series . I was hooked after I read a couple pages. This Lady made these people seem so real I felt close to them. I shed a few tears as I read some of the parts. She is and Amazing Writer. I enjoyed each story Thank You Shirley Ketcham
I have enjoyed the book and series so far. The people, relationships, and events flow and are realistic. Very heart warming. These books are a different trend for me that I am immensely enjoying.
Wow, I can't believe that this book ended so happily ever after. The characters were all played well. Kinda thought it'd end this way. Molly got to finally meet her dad and her mom got married to the new man in her life.
Wonderful story with special twists. It shows how wonderful friends can be and how much they care for one another. This whole series doesn’t disappoint the reader.
Regis's story was an amazing roller coaster of a life time! The full cast of characters evolved with her and Molly. I can hardly wait to start book four!!
I really enjoyed the characters in this book. The love of family, friends, and community was so awesome. There were many twists and turns. It was a hard book to put down. I enjoyed this book from start to finish.
