Her Dragon Prince

Rate this book
The British Royal family, the Plantagenets, have a mystique around it. Legend says that they have the ability to transform into dragons and that they keep their hoard beneath the ancient walls of Windsor Castle.

Lily Stafford loves the story, but knows that’s all it is. Stories that keep millions of tourists heading to the castle in hopes of spotting one of the great beasts. Most of them leave with nothing more than a few memories and a stuffed toy.

Visiting the castle, Lily can’t help but sneak off to take a peek at the collection of artwork depicting the legends. She meets a handsome stranger there, only to be embarrassed to discover that he is none other than the reclusive grandson of the King, Prince Alexander Plantagenet.

Alex, as he prefers to be called, is resisting his family’s demands for him to marry. Almost forty, he sees no reason. It’s not as if he doesn’t have enough siblings and cousins who are more than willing to do their duty.

Right up until he meets Lily.

The draw to her should be impossible.

She’s a commoner with no noble blood.

But his dragon has spoken. She will be his, and he will be Her Dragon Prince.

Jac Franklin

19 books75 followers
Jac Franklin was born and raised in Norwich but relocated to the Essex coast over a decade ago, for love. When she's not writing, she's listening to music. Her tastes are eclectic, and stem from her time at music college.

Jac's pen name comes from the initials of her real name, and Franklin is in tribute to her late grandmother who was truly one of a kind.

An avid reader, she grew up reading primarily fantasy books. Garth Nix, Terry Pratchett, Rick Riordan being some of her favourites. Nowadays she's a ferocious reader of spicy romance novels. She loves Amy Daws, Julia Quinn, Samantha Young and Melissa Foster, to name a few.

The first book in the Degrees of Separation, Coast to City, started as a dream that wouldn't go away until she wrote the story down. It took just twenty days to write the entire novel, but then the other characters started piping up, and so DoS was born.

This book is simply fantastic, and it's set in the UK, which is always a bonus for us Brits. The dynamic between the FMC and the MMC is truly amazing from the outset. It's a very well-paced slow burn, with amazingly descriptive moments, that had me laughing out loud a lot more than I possibly should have been.
I loved how the FMC dominated a dragon, and yes, she got to ride her dragon.
For me, the sensitive topic in the book about dementia is handled fantastically well.
For most of the second half of this book I was hoping above hope that there would be a second one, thankfully, my hopes were answered, and I can't wait for it to be released. To summarise, another book knocked out of the park by Jac, you can do no wrong in my eyes. Loved every second of this

This book was engaging from the start, it drops you right into it - the FMC and MMC meet almost immediately and the lore and background build along the way in a very fascinating and page-turning manner.

Alex is swoony and so sweet with Lily. They both have pretty fun personalities to read and they just fit, they make sense and it makes for a sweet union.

The shifter and lore aspect isn’t too convoluted, which I appreciated, and makes it an easy to digest shifter read. I loved the idea of merging it with royals in England. There’s some intrigue and subplot alongside the romance which lent some elements of danger and risk and kept pages turning.

I appreciated the plus size rep, particularly I really liked that the spicy scenes were written in a way to reflect that the FMC has a belly or thighs or a butt, very authentic.

As I was reading and the pages left were getting smaller and smaller I found myself wanting to spend more time in this world and this book - thankfully…there is a slight cliffhanger and it’s clear there’s more to come! The cliffhanger is not to do with their relationship so I didn’t feel aggravated at the end but instead was excited for more!

Can recommend for an enjoyable dragon shifter romance with some intriguing elements.

This book was hands down amazing. If your looking for touch her and die with a extremely possessive MMC this book is for you. This will also be a good book if your looking at dipping your toe into the fantasy genre with out the high fantasy world building that some people dislike. This book has a plus size FMC that has a lot of tenacity. The MMC is dangerously delicious and will leave you wanting more. I especially enjoyed the way it ended letting me know there is more to come. Jac Franklin take a bow as you have earned a standing ovation. Love it.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTICAL!!!

I swear every book that I have read by this author makes me soo freaking happy where I'm kicking my feet giggling or pissing me off so bad I'm throwing a pillow across the room and leaving her voice messages to let her know my anger but don't worry she loves it.

I have read a few books but Ms. Franklin but never one like this and I am ALL HERE FOR IT!!
A dragon shifter who is possessive as heck? YES PLEASE!! A plump woman who can hold her own? Give it to me!!

I adore the FMC.
She is funny, smart, witty and can hold her own when she needs to. She refuses to take crap from anyone and that includes members of the royal family. Through all of this she has her walls up after her last relationship and it's hard to let people in but Alex made sure he was firmly planted in her life. I love how much pride and care she takes in her life, her job and her best friend. She worked hard for everything she has in her life while also having fun.

Now Alex.....the thing this man does to me. He is forceful but respectful at the same time. They way he went about getting to our FMC was wonderful and I want a man to chase me like that. To him No was never an answer. Even when events happened and a wall was put up between them he still respected her wishes until the moment he said screw it and I loved it. I love everything about this man. He is sweet, kind, passionate, possessive and feral!!!!! I would do anything for this man no questions asked.

The spice......BABY THE SPICE IN THIS BOOK HAD ME NEEDING WATER LIKE CRAZY!!!!
But the spice doesn't take away from the plot because I have so many theories and I need answers but I have a feeling I will be left with more questions after the second book.

I can't wait to see what happens next with these to love birds.

This book was seriously so fun and with lovable characters! I received it as an ARC and couldn’t put it down.

Lily of course is a fantastic, MFL that reads like my best friend, someone you just know, and feels so real. And Alex is a Prince Charming who bites and absolutely swoon worthy!

The romance hooks you right away! A huge fan of fated partners and love it had me hooked just like they were, and as the romance unravels, Alex is absolutely smitten with Lily and we just get all caught up in that love. But then we’re hit with a deeper plot line and I was hooked on the mystery and action element!

A perfect romance! Seriously loved every moment of it and can’t wait for more of these characters!

The way I DEVOURED this book 😱 Her Dragon Prince is my first delve into the world of Jac Franklin, and despite the education in spicy times my very uneducated brain received (in a good way) I could not put this ARC down. I stepped out of my comfort zone with this one and went for more than the half to one chilli pepper 🌶️ I normally manage, and I don’t regret it one bit!

The imagery in this book is brilliant, the characters are well rounded and the FMC is hilarious. I mean “lacklustre wienering”?! This phrase lives rent free in my head 😂 I can’t wait for the next one!

(Also the MMC is the sweetest of cinnamon rolls ❤️)

When is the next one due please ma’am? 👀

This book was engaging from the start, all the way to the end and I couldn’t get enough of it. It's a very well-paced slow burn, with amazingly descriptive moments, that had me laughing out loud. This is a must read if you are into the fantasy, contemporary paranormal romance. We all need an Alex!! I really enjoyed the elements in this book! We have a plus-size FMC, protective MMC, HEA, and some dragon/shifting action!
Only a personal preference: I feel the story could have been more condensed, and at the same time I am missing a potential blend of her life before Alex and now going into her new life. But perhaps that is the point, everything completely changes so quickly when stepping into that new princess life style!
Overall I would recommend this book to friends and I would read any other follow up book with these characters!

My heart has been stolen

I love this book. Hands down. I’m obsessed with Alex and Lily. Their journey isn’t to the smoothest and probably will continue to have some bumps along the way, but seriously I love these two characters. Alex is literally one of the most swoon worthy MMCs pretty sure I’ve ever read. It’s not only the things he does but also the things he says. If you love a dragon shifter and human romance, that also includes a prince and a commoner set in modern times…. Pick this book up.

The Plantagenet family still rule England and they're dragon shifters?! Hell yes! I love that the FMC is curvy and that they're both in their 30s.

I also appreciated how Lily is dealing with her ex-MIL's dementia. My grandmother just recently passed and I agree with Lily about how watching her struggle with dementia was like grieving in installments.

I really enjoyed it and look forward to the sequel.

There are many dragon books out these days. And a lot of them can be repetitive, but this was amazing. A new twist on the dragon story. I loved this. It had me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

And the fact the herione was plus sized like me, it was amazing.

I look forward to more from Jac

I'll admit the cover put me off slightly, but OH. MY. GOD. If ever there was a perfect romance, this is it. I loved the idea of the British Royal Family having a secret like this one (I'm British so it made me snigger a bit). Honestly, another book where I'm saying "next book soon please?"

Really enjoyed this book!
My one and only complaint is that it wasn’t made clear ahead of time that this is part of a series and does end on a bit of a cliffhanger.
