Beth Moran initially worked as a biochemist and then taught antenatal classes before becoming an author. She loves to write contemporary women`s fiction set in and around Sherwood Forest, where she lives with her family
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book, all views are my own.
I was not familiar with Beth Moran’s writing before reading this book, but I’m so glad I took a chance on this particular title. I mean, I sobbed for several of the last chapters, but that just goes to prove how well it was written. I thoroughly enjoyed Blue’s charming story about trusting again after love has let you down and the current troubles of life on the island; fighting developers who go against everything that makes it wonderful and in turn discover a story that will change her family forever. However, what made me want to inhale the book in one go were the Sorrel chapters: a heartbreaking story of forbidden love and a deep sense of belonging that defies societal expectations. I loved the strong sense of community, but especially the way Beth writes her female characters (strong, defiant and self sufficient rather than damsels in distress). I would definitely recommend this book and look forward to reading more by this author.
Blue lives on the small Isle of Siskin situated off the coast of Wales in the Irish Sea where she hosts a podcast called Only on Siskin. Unlucky in love, having been engaged three times which had all fallen through, she has sworn off romance. When the future of the island is put at risk the arrival of a stranger, Jonathan, gives her the opportunity to do something about it. I wasn't sure about this book to start with, especially when it suddenly jumped back in time and became a dual time zone story, however this soon made sense and I became totally engrossed in it. It did highlight the problems of living in a small community, but also the positive sides of that. Blue finds that there is a mystery behind all what is happening and, with the help of Jonathan, tries to find out the true history. In summary a slow paced book that I ended up totally loving.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Boldwood books for the early copy of this book.
This was very cute. The story itself was really good and I loved the dual timelines here but i had a hard time getting into it and a hard time staying focused and interested in it.
I powered through and overall did enjoy the story and the ending.
I also listened to it on audio while I read it and the narrators were excellent. Both of them were lcapturwd the characters just as I’d imagined.
Maybe a bit slow at times, it had me wondering if it was the book for me, but after a while its engaging plot took me entirely and I was hooked. There’s top entertainment provided by the lively banter between the characters, along with drama and mystery. Not a typical romance but full of romance exactly how I like it. The dual timeline adds depth and doubles the suspense. Most recommended.
With many thanks to Boldwood Books, NetGalley and the author for an early copy.

'Every day is a perfect day to read this’ Shari Low My Thoughts: You Belong with Me is a slow burn romantic mystery..Set on the Isle of Siskin, I enjoyed this small town romance filled with colourful characters. The story unfolds over a dual timeline with Bluebell, a podcaster in present and Sorrell with a heartbreaking forbidden romance in the past. Both women were strong and independent. I adored this story with so much emotion and loveable characters. it was so beautiful yet so heartbreaking at the same time. I thoroughly enjoyed Blue’s charming story about trusting again after love has let you down and the current troubles of life on the island; fighting developers who go against everything that makes it wonderful and in turn discover a story that will change her family forever. After reading this book, I want to visit the Isle of Siskin. This story is about Bluebell Beddoes, a woman whose track record of being a fiancée three different times makes her leave romance behind, and instead, she focuses on her community and her job as the local podcaster. Her peaceful life is brought down by a threat to the island’s future, and she tries to save her home. The arrival of Jonathan White makes matters worse because Blue has to decide if he is an unwanted guest or the help she needs to unlock the past. This book is a perfect example of Beth Moran's type of "all the feels" story that adds a touch of mystery. The story is a poignant one about finding where you belong and finding the courage to trust again.
The Isle of Siskin feels like a character in its own right. Moran’s descriptions are vivid, and I want to get on a plane and visit right now. I could picture the greenery so clearly. I loved the vibe of found family. Moran's books always give me a cozy feeling because they're often about community. She always has amazing characters, even the supporting ones. They're true to life and feel and act like real people—people you'd want to meet and hang out with. Her books always feel emotional, yet balanced with humour.
Romance isn't my go-to genre, and while there is a romantic aspect, it isn't the focus of the book. The heart of the book lies in Blue’s growth and learning to trust herself and not be afraid to try new things because she is so scared of failure. Blue, being an "almost bride" so many times, is handled with empathy. The dual plot about the saving of the island and Blue's secrets kept me turning the pages and was interesting without being too over the top. It’s a heartwarming and witty tale that reminds the reader that our past mistakes don't define our future.
As in most of this author's books, this was an excellent feel-good story that uses the usual tropes in women's fiction. And while some of the resolutions felt a little bit too tidy, it did bring me joy, and the writing style makes it impossible not like these characters. The journey of reading about Blue and her community was an entertaining one. This was the perfect weekend read that took me on a vacation to the Emerald Isle without having to pack a bag or fight airport lines.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
This is a beautiful story that is told in two timelines.
Blue Beddoes is unlucky in love! Having been engaged 3 times to be married, and that not working out, she devotes her time between her family farm that focuses on sunflowers, and her podcast "Only in Sisken"- devoted to all things Sisken. The people of Sisken have just discovered that a huge farm is being sold to developers to be made into a tourist attraction. This does not sit well with them, and they were never given notice about it. Blue, along with her mother, Goldie (who is the mayor of Sisken) and other islanders, form a committee to try to put a stop to the developers. They discover that the land that is being sold, "Jack's Place", is where there used to be a lot of natterjack frogs, These frogs on on the soon to be extinct list- so finding them could help save the island. There is also a rumor that Calvin Griffin, the deceased owner of the land, may have been secretly married and has another child who would be the rightful owner- not his niece Sienna Griffin. While walking along the property line between her farm and Jack's Place, Blue meets Jonathon White, and attractive environmental consultant that has been hired by Sienna to look for evidence of the toads.
The story from the past tells about Sorrel Beddow and Calvin Griffin. Calvin has lost his parents in a ferry accident, and now must run the farm and take care of his two younger siblings. Sorrel sees that he is struggling, and so she is determined to help him and the younger children. As they work together, and eventually fall in love. However, by doing this, Sorrel will lose her family and the respect of the community.
I loved the sense of community in this book. The characters in the present day are marvelous! Each has a distinctive personality that helps drive the story. The story deals with finding your place, forgiveness, being a part of something that is bigger than you thought. It also deals heavily with love and loss. There is humor, heart and at times, very bittersweet moments that pulled at my heart. I was especially drawn to the story of Calvin and Sorrel. I was rooting for them, and loved how their romance developed. I also liked Beth and Jonathon's slow burn romance.
I was very charmed by this book, and I look forward to reading more by this author who is new to me!!!
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an advanced copy of You Belong With Me in exchange for a review. 4.5 stars rounded up.
I always love settling down to a new Beth Moran book! What I love about her books is she always creates such a fantastic community of strong women who support each other. Yes, it’s cosy and comforting, but there are always stories of overcoming something painful that gives it that edge of reality and relatability.
In You Belong With Me, we return to the fabulous Isle of Siskin, where Beth’s 2024 book, Have I Told You Lately, was set. The new story takes place just a few months after Emmie and Blessing have moved to the island, but we have a new main character – Blue (Bluebelle) Beddoes.
After being engaged three times to men who have let her down, Blue has no interest in dating and is focused only on her hugely successful podcast, Only on Siskin. When news arrives that a huge, dilapidated piece of land on the island is set to be sold to developers and turned into a tourist attraction without consulting the locals about their opinions, the community rallies together to try to stop the unwanted development.
With the arrival of Jonathan White, hoping to find some protective wildlife species on the land to halt the sale, Blue begins to thaw her no dating policy! And when rumours surface that perhaps the land might belong to someone else, Blue and Jonathan team together to dig into the history of the island and the contentious land.
I loved the flashbacks to the characters in the 1950s with the story of forbidden young love, which gradually blends into the present day story and Blue’s investigations. It all came together in such a satisfying way!
And I always love the little Easter eggs that pop up in Beth’s books, connecting the stories together, like Goldie reading Hillary West’s latest novel! It makes me feel like I’m part of an ever-expanding secret community!
This was a classic, gorgeous story from Beth, and I am now completely a Bluepy and Siskin-ite (I made that last one up!) and desperately hope she will take us back to the Isle of Siskin again for another character’s story!
In this captivating story, Blue Beddoes, a determined local podcaster and the daughter of the influential Mayor of Siskin Island, launches a passionate campaign to prevent the construction of a luxury resort that threatens the island's natural beauty and community spirit. The story revolves around Bluebell Beddoes, a woman who, after experiencing the heartbreak of three failed engagements, resolves to leave romance in her past and focus on her personal goals and community activism.
The plot unfolds in a dual timeline format, skillfully alternating between the present and a poignant historical narrative. The past storyline centres on Sorrel Beddow and Calvin Griffin. Following a devastating ferry accident that claims the lives of Calvin's parents, he is thrust into the role of protector and provider for his family's struggling farm and his two younger siblings. Sorrel, a compassionate and resourceful young woman, recognises Calvin's burdens and is determined to offer her support. As they join forces to navigate the challenges of daily life, a deep bond forms between them, leading to a profound and passionate love. However, their relationship is fraught with obstacles. Sorrel faces the painful choice of potentially alienating her own family and risking her standing within a close-knit community that disapproves of their union, creating a gripping tale of a heartbreaking, forbidden romance.
While the pacing of the book was slower than I usually prefer, it didn’t deter me from continuing my reading journey. To be completely honest, the beginning felt languid, and there were moments when I considered putting it down; however, I’m truly grateful I persevered. The engaging storyline, rich in emotional depth and social commentary, compels readers to explore the complexities of love and duty. Despite its sombre moments, the book ultimately maintains a hopeful tone, highlighting themes of resilience, community, and the power of love to overcome adversity.
Without a doubt You Belong With Me from Beth Moran would have to be her best work to date as she explores the life on the small Ilse of Siskin, located somewhere in the Irish Sea, home to a very small population of people since 1730. They can hold a grudge for generations but reach out when the need arises, even if sometimes the help is reluctantly given. Bluebell ‘Blue’ Beddows has sent her entire thirty-three years of life on Siskin. Blue as she is known runs a small podcast about life on Siskin which has attracted a flowing of ‘blupies’ who religiously visit the Isle each summer to partake of the summer fun and festivities. Blue has also been engaged three times, and now has sworn off men for good, that is until she accidentally runs headlong into Jonathon White, a man sent to the island to investigate the possibility of a rare toad still being on the island and if it still is too be found, could be a big enough reason to stop the development of a large resort, very few on the Isle support. A second story unfolds, that of Sorrel Beddow, young, impressionable and determined to help the Griffith family who have lost their parents in a Ferry capsize, leaving young Calvin, mired in depression, to bring up is twin siblings. Sorrel defies the unwritten but firmly held social rules of Siskin to help Calvin, falling in love and realising that by eventually committing herself to Calvin, she will be ostracised from her parents and the community. As the two stories of love and loss are delicately spun together Blue and Jonathin discover they must dig deep into the Isle of Siskins history to be able to solve the problems of the present, which does not go according to plan, as some really don’t want the past to become a piece of the present at all. Beautifully written with wonderful depth of feeling You Belong With Me is charming, captivating, poignant and thoroughly entertaining.
You Belong with Me is a compelling dual timeline story set on the small, quaint, and beautiful Isle of Siskin off the coast of Wales.
Bluebell “Blue” Beddoes loves her job as a host of her own successful podcast and her home on the Isle of Siskin. She’s given up on finding love after three failed relationships, but she’s content with her life. However, the serenity of her small island home is now threatened by a developer. Blue is faced with the fight of her life, is conflicted about trusting a mysterious (and handsome) stranger, and is intrigued by secrets from the past.
If you enjoy past and present timelines that connect in complicated and relevant ways, you will enjoy the dual timeline in You Belong with Me. Uncovering secrets from the past will impact Blue in a personal way and provide the help she needs to lead the fight against the developers.
Vivid details help us picture a beautiful life on the quiet and remote Isle of Siskin off the coast of Wales. A strong emphasis on the love of nature will appeal to environmentalists.
Romance is not the central focus of the story which leads me to categorize You Belong with Me as a love story and not a romance. The lovely male main character will appeal to the romantics! However, the slow-burn romance is in the background of other more pressing issues such as saving the small island from a big developer, uncovering family secrets that will have a significant impact on Blue’s personal life, and reevaluating her podcast career.
Content Consideration: neglected children
If you love a romance with an intriguing dual timeline, environmentalism, a strong sense of place, and small town vs developer content, you will enjoy this engaging story. If you’re a fan of Beth Moran, this is definitely TBR worthy.

This is probably my most reviewed author. If I had the time to sit down and count I probably would, just to satisfy my own thoughts about that statement. However, since I don’t, it will remain an ambiguous assumption.
There’s something about the author’s writing style and characterization that has me wanting to read it all in one go. I juggle multiple books at a time usually, just to keep me going. With books like this, and in this case I did read it in one or two sittings. This book felt bigger than average and it took me longer than expected to wrap it up.
I did not realise that I will be visiting this island again after the last time (Have I Told You Lately). It isn’t exactly a series in the truest sense because the people and issues featured in the previous book are only background players who don’t change the story in any way with their presence this time around. This is just another book set in the same ‘world’.
I did not expect a dual timeline narrative and almost found myself losing steam when I saw what was happening at the other end, but I kept at it. I really liked the current timeline. Our lead protagonist is a podcaster who focuses on her island and the community that thrives on it. Their ways of life are affected by a proposal to build a fancy resort on the island and there’s a committee to stop it. One idea leads to another and the past becomes important as well.
I am glad I started reading books by this author because most of the time she manages to hit upon just the right sort of protagonist I enjoyed following. I would definitely recommend this to fans of the genre, albeit with some more serious events in the past timeline.
I received an ARC thanks to Netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience of this and other books by the author.
A beautiful, emotional story of enduring love, forgiveness, and second chances.
This book absolutely wrecked me—in the very best way. It’s the kind of story that lingers long after you’ve finished, leaving you with a genuine book hangover. Beth Moran delivers a novel that is tender, sorrowful, funny, and deeply moving, filled with the warmth and emotional depth her stories are known for.
Told through dual timelines, the story builds with the promise of an eventual convergence—and Ms. Moran adds a twist that ties the timelines together perfectly. In the past, Sorrel’s strength and compassion shone. Her determination to forge her own path, combined with her deep love and desire to help Calvin and his siblings, creates a moving, heartfelt connection that stays with you; it is rich with love, courage, and sacrifice. In the present, Blue (Bluebell) Beddos has learned to protect her heart, focusing instead on her popular podcast and her community—until unexpected circumstances and an intriguing stranger challenge everything she thought she’d settled. I enjoyed seeing Blue slowly begin to trust and open her heart again.
I absolutely adore the way Ms. Moran writes budding relationships; they unfold naturally, with quiet moments and emotional honesty that make them feel real. Set against the charm of a close-knit British island community, the story is filled with quirky, endearing characters and has all the charm you could hope for. The strength of the characters, the heartbreaking sorrow and grief, the resilience of will, and the beauty of a love that never truly dies are woven together beautifully, creating a story that is both heartbreaking and hopeful.
What a beautiful read this was. I was completely hooked from the off and finished reading this in under 24hours! Firstly, the cover is absolutely beautiful, I would completely be drawn to this sitting on a shelf. The Isle of Siskin sounds so beautiful and magical with so many colourful characters that I could picture it all so vividly, it sounded like a wonderful place to visit if it were real. I loved the relationship Blue and Goldie had, they were so supportive and protective of one another. I also feel a little bit in love with the Toad Man, he was such an absolute darling of a human being. The story has flashback chapters focusing on the characters of Sorrell and Calvin, while I guessed fairly early on their impact on the current circumstances, I loved seeing their story unfold in all its heartbreaking beauty. As their secrets are revealed, the sensitivity of how the characters react is heartwarming. I really felt for Calvin, he had such a difficult life, seeing him grow was wonderful, and I was so pleased to have some further details about his adulthood later in the tale once everything had come out in the open. I love the ethos throughout that Blue, and also Goldie, don't need someone to look after them, or a man to take care of things, but that this does not mean that they might not like one sometimes. That it's ok to put your faith and trust in a partner for life, and that it doesn't mean you are any less. This is the second book I have read by this author, she has a wonderful warmth to her writing and I can't wait to read more from her in the future.
This is my first Beth Moran book and I know I will be back for more! What caught my eye about “You Belong With Me” was the quaint setting of The Isle of Siskin with its hardworking community members, fun annual traditions and plenty of small town drama to keep our heroine, Bluebell “Blue” Beddoes, busy. Her podcast “Only On Siskin”, gave its listeners a peek into the magical everyday life of her beloved hometown. Blue was a very popular podcaster and she even had merchandise that was a big hit with her fans, on and off the island. When some interlopers arrived on Siskin with a ridiculous plan to build a resort on the island, Blue was at the head of the line to send them on their way. One of her biggest fans, Jonathan White, was hired by the enemy to do some research on the island. He had been smitten with Blue from the first time he heard her podcast and he jumped at the chance to visit such a wonderful place. Of course, Jonathan was also against any development on the island, and worked closely with Blue in their battle against the destruction of the beautiful and untouched land. Hidden beneath that land lay deep, dark secrets which would change some islanders' lives forever. “You Belong With Me” is part romance, mystery, and travelogue as the author couldn’t have chosen a more picturesque location for Blue to find love, for Jonathan to find a home, and for long held secrets to finally be laid to rest!
When Blue Beddoes, local podcaster and daughter of the Mayor of Siskin Island spearheads a campaign to stop a luxury resort being built on the island, she has no idea where she and her family will end up.
Siskin is a small island, a village unto itself. Neighbors taking care of each other, everyone knows each other's business but generally getting along. Most islanders have lived there for their whole lives, and historical records are minimal, but depend on word of mouth. When someone determines that the resort's proposed location could cause an ecological problem for a natterjack frog, a researcher named Jonathan comes to the island and ends up joining the cause.
The story meanders around a bit, told in dual timelines to update the reader between past and present. The reader doesn't know who Sorrell Griffin is until almost the end when the mystery is discovered. I enjoyed the developing friendship between Blue and Jonathan, and her relationship with her mother Marigold. The book moved a bit slower than I prefer, but not enough to discourage me from continuing to read. Anyone who enjoys small town stories with a twist should like this book.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
When Blue Beddoes’ seemingly comfortable life on the Isle of Siskin gets upended little does she know where these changes will take her. She’s happily single, in a job she loves and not needing anyone, however, might she learn that although she may not think she needs someone, it might just be nice to share her life?
Blue is a great, well developed character. I love her strength and resilience, it really comes through throughout the story. Her mum is a force to be reckoned with, but in a good way. Johnathan is another good character who might just creep into your heart. Although there is a glimmer of romance in this book, it’s not the main focus and I enjoyed getting to know the characters, the island and especially the history of the island and previous occupants.
I like how the story moved between present day and the past, keeping you fully engaged in both storylines. Your heart will really go out to the characters of the past as you learn their heart warming, yet heart breaking stories.
Everything pulls together so well at the end, there are certainly some surprises I did not see coming.
So all in all a wonderful read, if you have enjoyed stories from this author before, you will love this, if this author is new to you, what are you waiting for?
Blue’s has had a pretty good life on the beautiful Isle of Siskin, in spite of being infamous on the island for being engaged three times and never married. Busy with her podcast "Only in Siskin" and helping her mother on their farm, she is content, until a developer swoops in and is about to build a mega resort on Jack's place, the land next to theirs and destroy their way of life. The only hope for their island is if Blue and Jonathan (an outsider who came to do an ecological study of the land), can find a knatterjack toad . . . or discover if their really is a different owner of the land.
Beth Moran does it again. I love her books - they are clean, they have heart, humor and sorrow. This book was told mostly from Blue's perspective, but with chapters scattered throughout from the perspective of Sorrel not long after WWII, and her dealings with helping Calvin, a young adult who when his parents died tragically, was left with the responsibility of running his farm and raising his younger siblings. It was beautifully told, and as the story unfolded in both timelines, I couldn't help but hope that the secrets revealed would lead to their salvation. Such a great story - I loved it!
Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book looked like something I would enjoy, a three time fiance who never made it to the alter, running a podcast on an island with a bunch of quirky people. It was so much more than that. It was one of those books that I think will stick with me. There is a flashback component that helps with the modern day mystery as a group of islanders work to prevent a company from building a resort and potentially ruining their island home.
Blue was a great characther and I loved her relationship with her Mom and new to the island Jonathon. There was a lot going on as the island inhabitants pursued a few different avenues to prevent the destruction of an old farm. It was great to watch Blue grow in both her confidence and her comfort with how she fit within her community. I also enjoyed the hijinks of her podcast followers.
Beth Moran was a new to me author and I can't wait to read other books by her. I wish Siskin was real so I could go and visit!
Blue lives on the Isle of Siskin and hosts a podcast, Only On Siskin. She has sworn off love since she has been engaged three times and not one came through. But when a stranger arrives, Jonathan, he may threaten Blue's conviction and she may rethink her oath to swear off love. There is a dual timeline where we also learn the story of Sorrel and Calvin.
Blue was such an amazing character. She is strong, self-sufficient but also tender and kind. I am all about a new beginnings story, specially if the characters earned it. I like how the author always brings new found family and the sense of pride in your community and Blue had a lot of that. She worked hard to help save the Isle. I also enjoyed the flashbacks to the past and their forbidden love story. I am a Beth Moran fan and I always know that I will love whatever she releases, because her characters are always strong, kind, they deal with their problems as a team and they are always so respectfully written.
Thank you Netgalley and Boldwood Books for this eARC. All opinions are entirely my own.
This was another beautiful read by the amazing Beth Moran. In You Belong With Me we return to the Isle of Siskin from her previous book, Have I Told You Lately. It was good to hear about some of the characters from that book and see how they are doing now as well as following Blue, Goldie and Jonathan on their stories. Although I had pretty much guessed where the story was leading us I really enjoyed the journey in getting there and the redemption that some of the characters found for themselves and I hope to hear more about their futures in further books set here. I found this book very easy to read, the pages turned so quickly as I followed along in the investigations of how to save the Isle of Siskin from the developers. Having twin routes and both being investigated made the story more interesting wondering which would bear the fruit needed to give the islanders their happy ending. This was a wonderful read which has left me with a big smile on my face and made me look forward to the next book, and hopefully many more after that, from this author.
“You Belong to Me” is a cozy, chaste tale about Blue, a podcaster residing on a small island between Ireland and Wales. Alongside her mother, the mayor, Blue and her family are determined to thwart the developers’ plans to build a resort on their neighboring property, Jack’s Place. They employ various strategies to prevent the developers from succeeding, including bringing in an ecological surveyor named Jonathan and ensuring the current land owner’s ownership. This endeavor leads to the unfolding of two distinct narratives: Blue’s adventures with Jonathan and Sorrel, a young woman who assists at Jack’s Place. While the pacing may be a bit slow at times, the engaging storyline compels readers to persevere through the book. Despite its somber moments, the book maintains a hopeful tone throughout. Check this one out.

You Belong With Me is the third Beth Moran book I’ve read – I really liked one of them, really DIDN’T like another, and this one fell somewhere in the middle. Not bad as romances go, but predictable, and full of characters who are just there to fill their assigned spot in the story: the nosy busybody, the supermom, the boorish local who wants to date the heroine, etc. You’ll see the big reveal coming from a mile away, but it’s still a sweet story, and Blue and Jonathan do indeed seem to belong together. Sorrel and Calvin's story is pretty sappy and not really my cup of tea, but it's necessary to set up the present-day part of the story.
The first time we switch to Sorrel’s viewpoint, I was thrown for a loop – one second we’re in Blue’s POV and the next we’ve jumped back 50 years to a bunch of characters we’ve never met. You get used to it, but that first jump is a doozy. There are also a LOT of Griffins, and it took me a few chapters to figure out who was who.
There’s nothing steamy about this book at all – Jonathan and Blue don’t even acknowledge they’re in love til the end. So if that’s what you’re looking for, this ain’t it. But it was nice to see Blue, always a fiancée and never a bride, finally find someone who was her person.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an eARC of this book.
I love Beth Moran’s books but this one let me down. The same issues with both couples just went on and on and on and on and it got tiresome. Then there’s a big incident that is dramatic and traumatic which seems to finally get one of the couples to wake up and realize their individual, “toxic” issues. Liv, the woman of the other couple wakes up to a realization of her own. And then suddenly, the Epilogue and everything is hunky dory for everyone 8 months later; problems are solved (more or less). Very abrupt ending after a long repetitive slog about the same issues over and over and over again. Beth’s dialogue is still one of the best so I give her three stars for being able to engage you in her character’s lives, but this was a tiresome book for me. It’s the only clinker however, of any of her books that I’ve read.
'You Belong With Me' is a charming read about the characters battle to save their beloved Siskin Island. I really liked the setting of Siskin, Moran does a really good job of describing the landscape and the lifestyle the characters have. Getting to know the characters was a joy as well, they are charming and had stories to tell. There is a mystery at the heart of this book and to tell this, Moran includes flashback chapters to Sorrell, it is only near the very end that we discover the truth about Sorrell but I really enjoyed getting to know her and following her emotional story. My one downside, is that this was a bit too long and felt sluggish and slow in paces. Had this been improved then my rating could have been 5 stars. Overall this was a very emotional but charming read. Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an advance copy.
Bluebell Beddoes hosts the popular podcast 'Only on Siskin' about the comings and goings of her home isle and when a proposed development threatens the serenity of this isle, the residents must fight to save it.
This story is more than small community Vs developers as there's a love story thrown on and a historical story alongside that changes the course of the development entirely.
I really enjoyed this book; the plots within it are all very followable and engaging, the characters feel both real and likeable and I enjoy the way Moran writes - not overly descriptive but just enough to give you a good picture in your head.
The story airs on the side of predictable but in a comforting way. It's not a taxing read but one to enjoy getting wrapped up in..
You Belong with Me is a slow burn romantic mystery. Set on the Isle of Siskin, I enjoyed this small town romance filled with colourful characters. The story unfolds over a dual timeline with Bluebell, a podcaster in present and Sorrell with a heartbreaking forbidden romance in the past. Both women were strong and independent. I enjoyed the way two storylines intertwined. I did guess their connections fairly early on but was still quite engaged with characters. I enjoyed the way Beth explored impact of development on small islands. I did find it a bit slow to begin with but it going I found myself quite invested in the story. For reads who like small town settings, romance and mystery.
This was fun, romantic women’s fiction, set on an island in the Irish Sea and populated with colorful characters.
Bluebell “Blue” Beddoes is a young woman and thrice scorned fiancée. The problem with life on the tiny (fictional) Isle of Siskin is that Blue can never escape the attention of her fellow islanders, who are quick to judge Blue’s uncanny ability to scare men off. But Blue is heavily invested in island life, living with her mum, helping with their successful sunflower farm and producing her own podcast “Only on Siskin”, which demystifies quaint island customs.
Things start to get messy when mainland investors plan on buying up the neighboring farm, planning to raze it to build a mega-resort, complete with fun park. They are stunned that the islanders aren’t on board with such “progress”. A conservationist is brought to the island to ensure building efforts won’t endanger local fauna – and Blue finds herself drawn to these conservation efforts, and the handsome expert leading them.
A past timeline follows a young woman who rescues that same neighboring farm years earlier, and whose past may weigh in on its present.
This was a fast, fun and highly recommended read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy - all thoughts are my own.
This is a sweet, heartwarming, dual timeline romance novel about a podcaster trying to save her small town from a big resort development. While trying to help her community find a way to stop this development, she uncovers secrets hidden away for decades.
This story is so gentle in it’s handling of love amongst a small town environment full of judgement. I enjoyed the dual timeline stories, following Blue and Jonathan as well as Sorrel and Calvin. Making you believe in second (3rd or 4th) chances and love as destiny regardless of your previous circumstances. This story truly is heartwarming. Available February 8, 2026 in all formats.
