Pressing on Toward the Upward Call: Draw Near to God and He Will Draw Near to You
God Wants Me Closer to Him.
Do I want that? Paul did.
Brothers and sisters, I do not regard myself as having taken hold of it yet; but one thing I forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14
I am trying to walk with God by faith but facts, real or fake, draw me away from my faith. Is there more to this faith-life? Can I press on toward God like Paul writes, even if I seem stuck where I am, mired in a hard life here?
Can God be real when so much around me is fake and manufactured to seduce me away from God? Does faith really work to calm my inward anxieties?
Can God be alive to me? Can the joy that I read about in the Bible really be mine? Will God teach me to persevere in trials? Can I have the “peace that passes all understanding” from God amid a crazy-busy life here? Is there a “rest” of God where I don’t have to worry or be anxious for anything? Can I let go, and let God?
