Corbin's Bend Season Two #7

Have Paddle, Will Travel

Rate this book
When a freak snow storm threatens to cut off the already remote community of Corbin's Bend from the rest of the world, the residents scramble to get enough emergency supplies from neighboring towns before the mountain roads are closed. It's sheer luck of the draw that force Ettie and Vance into the same car together. The only problem is, they can't stand one another. She's a submissive who hasn't been spanked in four very long years (four years, seven months, thirteen days...not that she was counting). He's the resident paddle and strap maker, a man known to answer the call of needy submissives everywhere. In his workshop at home, Vance has every implement he'd ever need to win a war like this. In a car in the middle of nowhere with the storm of the century bearing down upon them...who will win this particular battle was anybody's guess.

About Corbin's Bend:

Welcome to Corbin's Bend, the first equity-cooperative housing development just for spankofiles. Thirty thousand acres in the mountains above Denver sits your dream come true. With 1000 home sites, several restaurants, a club house, theater, pool, and many other amenities, you will find yourself at home.

Corbin's Bend is the setting for a group of spanking romance novellas set in, where else? Corbin's Bend, Colorado. A fictitious housing cooperative, Corbin's Bend is unique in that everyone living there is into spanking, whether that be erotically or through domestic discipline. Just imagine, a place where nobody has to hide their particular spanking lifestyle.

While reading any series in order is nice, Corbin's Bend books can be read as stand-alones as well.

Ettie writes the local paper for Corbin’s Bend. If you have read any of the other Corbin’s Bend books you know that at times there are stories that are a little exaggerated or over the top and sometimes comical. Those are all Ettie’s doing. Vance is the resident paddle/leather strap maker and he is known to go to people’s houses and deliver some spankings. Ettie doesn’t like Vance and she makes it known in her weekly paper through some of her stories. When a snow storm forces Ettie and Vance on a supply run together things get tricky. Not only is there a storm in the truck, there is a huge storm outside of the truck. Things go from bad to worse and these two enemies will have to learn to get along if they want to survive. This was another great addition to the Corbin’s Bend series, my only complaint was it wasn’t long enough, I wanted to read more about these two.
Characters: The characters were well written and believable.
Sex: yes
Religious: no
Would I recommend to others: yes

Slow start that heated up quickly. Ettie publishes Corbin's Bend weekly newspaper and often writes fictional stories about her neighbor across the street, Vance Foster. Ettie is put out that Vance offers his spanking services to the single ladies of Borbin's Bend -- everyone but her.

Vance doesn't understand why Ettie likes to write about horrible things happening to him, but his guilty pleasure is reading all the stories she writes, including the romance serial.

When a sudden snow storm hits Corbin's Bend, Ettie finds hereself alone in a truck with Vance heading to nearest town in search for supplies. With the storm getting worse along with her attitude, Vance's hands are itching to smack Ettie's bottom. As the sparks continue to fly, Ettie can't help but wonder what it would be like to be one of Vance's spankees.

I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next installment in this series.

I have had the pleasure of reading all the Corbin Bend books to date, and have enjoyed all of them, but every so often one comes along which really makes me smile even more than usual. This certainly falls in that even better category.

Living in a spanking community but getting no spanking has made Ettie a very unhappy, bitter woman. She relieves her frustration through the nasty words she pens in her weekly paper. Vance, her neighbour, is often the butt of her cruel humour, even though he's never done her any harm. A freak storm and an unfortunate dunking soon put these two on a different footing. Loved that she just could not stop her mouth running away with itself! Loved that he was patient enough to wait it out!

Fun read, thank you.

This is the first I've read in season 3 and only the second or third in the whole series, as you can tell I'm a bit backlogged. So, when I grabbed the sample and fell hard for the 'bad boy' with the swagger and bag of paddles, I knew I needed to buy it ASAP. I waited a bit, hoping to use it as a reward but I re-read the sample and caved. That should be an offense that has repercussions, you know?

Holy hell the sparks flying between these two is enough to light a big enough fire to keep them warm for a month. I actually got really, and I mean really irritated with Ettie myself. I couldn't believe her attitude and how awful she acted to Vance, besides killing him off every week in her newspaper for years, in person. Urgh! I really wanted to go find a paddle and bend her over myself! I mean, 'if ever there was a sub in all of Corbin's Bend needing some good correction', yeah, I was all aboard with Vance's observation. I literally said out loud, "Go get her!!!!" I am not usually so verbal or demanding while reading, but my goodness, the chemistry had me all a flutter.

And his looks, and his eyes, and those hands! Ettie says his hands are hard enough without his paddles. *swoon*

If you are looking for your next book boyfriend, look no further. No seriously. He's handsome, and sexy, and sweet, and funny, and sexy, and kind, and offers his services to others in need, and sexy...did I mention sexy?

I was practically drooling as I watched through the window with Ettie. I won't spoil the ending but the idea of him walking towards me...let's say it does naughty things to your insides! Well, and your outsides... and damn near all your parts. He's the full package, and she's a lucky woman to be all cuddled up on him. True, it was to save his life, but what's in the detail?

Excellent story by Maren Smith. Five strong stars. I can't wait to check out the rest of the season and other Corbin Bend stories.

You know what, Maren Smith is so very, very good at this sort of thing. This book was an absolute joy and a delight from beginning to end. The two heroes, Ettie and Vance are wonderfully hilarious.

Ettie writes a baffling sounding newsletter full of made up news stories largely involving the entirely fictional and often bizarre deaths of her neighbour, Vance. Vance runs a handmade spanky implements business which, to be honest, feels like a slightly more useful contribution to the Bend than Ettie's. In order to test out his products, Vance has accumulated a bevy of accommodating female residents ready and eager to go over his lap. That's the type of community service I could totally get on board with, to be honest.

The pair dislike one another intensely. Or do they? Or are these strong feelings of hate merely masking much deeper passions below? What do you reckon? The set up is marvellous. It's like a 1930s screwball comedy - all witty put-downs and simmering passions.

Ettie and Vance find themselves stranded in the middle of nowhere during a snowstorm. Being near-frozen, soaking wet and without any kind of food for several days isn't the sort of situation that's going to put anyone in the best of moods but Ettie and Vance get through it. In fact with all the sexy and spanky shenanigans (because of course there is!), they get through it rather well.

And they do have some food in their shack in the middle of nowhere after Vance kills a squirrel leading to my absolute favourite lines in a book stuffed full of corking dialogue.

I read this book at the perfect reading time for me. I wasn’t sure what I was in the mood for, I was in a bit of a slump to be honest, but once I started this one, I just couldn’t stop reading it because it was so funny and great, I just couldn’t put it down. It actually left me wanting to know more and more about Ettie and Vance because they had such great chemistry between the two of them, you could feel it off the pages.
I really feel as though Ettie’s character is one of my favorite female characters of all time. She has a great personality and sense of humor that just didn’t stop. There was just something about her that was so likeable and loveable, and you couldn’t help but connect with her. Vance was just… there was something about him that I can’t put my finger on but he was great as well. Between the two of them, they were both just amazing.
I thought that Ms. Smith also did a great job with the suspense and drama that was happening during the story. I really had my worries about how it would all play out, but I thought that she did a great job with it.
I haven’t read anything by this author in the past, but I will be sure to look into other books by her in the future because I couldn’t get enough of this one!

In the next installment of Corbin’s Bend, we meet Ettie. She is the woman who writes the newspaper (or gossip rag to most of the dominant partners in Corbin’s Bend) She lives across the street from Vance Forester, who makes leather and wood items for the Corbin’s Bend community. He is also single and provides a service to the single ladies of the community, he is willing to spank them. They nicknamed him Have paddle, Will Travel. Ettie has always been bothered by Vance. She tells herself it is because he is a man-slut, a horn dog, but I think it is much more because he intrigues her. When there is a blizzard coming to Corbin’s Bend, she volunteers to help get supplies (because she needs a toner cartridge for her copier) for the community and Ettie gets assigned to go with Vance. Eventually, they get stranded and Ettie has to help Vance get to a cabin after he falls in a creek. She strips him and helps him regain circulation. They eventually get to know one another along with lots of spankings. There is a HEA, but the journey there is lots of fun. I give this story 4 stars.

I absolutely loved this addition to the Corbin's Bend series. It had the suspenseful, as well as, the numerous laughing out loud moments. You can't help but like Vance, his dominance jumps off the pages. Ettie and Vance seem to butt heads, but then again, she instigates most of the issues, not only with him but with the other HoH in Corbin's Bend. Etta being a writer/journalist, abuses her power of the press with her fictitious stories. The storyline kept me captivated, especially when they nearly died while in the snow storm. The dialogue between them was entertaining. I loved the ending and have really enjoyed all the Corbin's Bend books. As with all the books in this series, they each will read as a standalone but complement each other with the inclusion of characters from previous books.

Ettie Thomas is the Editor of All The News - That Is News In Corbin's Bend. Vance Foster is her neighbor. He is the owner of Whips And Chains'. He also has a side business she named, 'Have Paddle...Will Travel'. To say that Ettie is not the least bit fond of him is an understatement. Ettie runs out of toner, the store is out and there is a snowstorm heading towards Corbin's Bend. She asks Brent if she can tag along with
whomever is going on a supply run. She ends up driving with Vance and needless to say fireworks ensue.

I loved this new addition to the series. Marin Smith is a wonderful writer who's story had me smiling for the get go. The premise, dialog and spankings will have you reading this story in one sitting. I have been been a fan of hers for a long time. Marin has written another winner.

I loved this story. It is Corbin’s Bend, but not heavily about the community. It is about Vance
and Ettie. Ettie is a bitter single journalist that lives in Corbin’s Bend. She is constantly spying on Vance
and writing nasty things about him. The story is one of survival when a sudden snow storm
hits. The spankings were with hand and switch. There were a few sexual scenes, but
really they were not very graphic. It was a quick good short read. Happy Ending One would think that the
Lady protests too much!

Great Addition to Corbin's Bend

After reading Maren's first Corbin's Bend book, " Last Chance for Cadence", I was inpatient to read this latest entry. This did not disappoint but lived up to expectations and was another great read in the Corbin's Bend series.
Thank You Maren for such a great story.

*A spanking romance*
Oh my gosh, some of the antics this heroine got up to had me laughing out loud! The stories she posted in her newspaper, the things she said about her neighbour across the street (you know the one - he’s the Have Paddle, Will Travel bloke). Rollicking good laugh.
