Nothing Special About It
Found this book after a friend encountered the author, and thought I'd give it a look for myself. Ultimately, all you need to see is in the first three chapters. It's nothing special.
There are some good points. The author has strong syntax and grammatical skills. As far as the technical side of things, the book is polished and reads cleanly.
But the story is bland. Exceptionally cliche, and doesn't feel natural. The main character is supposed to be a "bad boy" but he's just plain unlikable. I can't really care for him. He definitely falls into "Mary Sue" territory, being beautiful and perfect at everything he tries. The headmaster is pretty vanilla, which is ironic I guess because the author seems to be trying for a Dominant/submissive relationship? At the very least she's banking on a little pain kink in there somewhere. When the headmaster isn't being also stunningly beautiful and boring, he's being oddly creepy, masturbating in his office over thoughts of young boys. I get that it's a factor of the "forbidden" nature of this book, but it doesn't come off sexy or dangerous, just pathetic. There's a conversation where the character confides in a colleague how he feels for the boy, and the colleague essentially says, "Go ahead and do whatever." Okay...
The attempt at spanking representation is...just wrong. I guess that's why I'm not sure if it's supposed to be BDSM or not. Is this meant to be sexy, or horrifying? A young man being beaten until he bleeds, and paddled after he begs his headmaster to stop? (He tries to get out of it by offering sexual favours, and this is before any actual relationship is established.)
Overall, it's mostly worth an eye roll. There's manga and yaoi out there which is done much better.

In my eyes the story started promising but sadly to the end it became boring somehow.
The conflict of the principle between his duty and his feelings is getting a bit to often mentioned and therefor making any developement not much surprising in the end.

Guilty pleasure read, very absorbing... I need to know what happens next. Characters are decently developed and are revealed as we go along.
