The love they share, and the lives they destroy to keep it.
Vera Sommer, firstborn Princess of Bessamy, is tired of waiting for her life to begin. When she meets gentle Sebastian at a ball, she knows it must be High Fate that brought them together. He’s everything she wants—beautiful, charismatic, and not afraid to let his heart direct him.
Their love quickly blossoms, but Sebastian harbors a secret—one he shares with Vera. He is a calligrapher, a magician with the power to rewrite hearts and memories. If her family finds out, the courtship will be ended for good.
Now, Vera must find a way to stay with Sebastian, all while protecting the family she holds so dear. But as the stakes are raised, she realizes she will do anything to hold onto her story.
Inspired by Chloe Ament’s The Funeral of Who I Refuse to Be (2025), Letters Unwritten weaves a tale of magic, royalty, and romance that will leave you breathless until the end credits roll.
I was worried about picking this up bc I hate reading books with female main characters written by men. But Patrick did a very good job not being weird!! I actually found myself very invested, and I LOVED how the different song lyrics were intertwined in the story. I would definitely pick up another book if Patrick decided to write again. Overall good time (although kinda depressing time also???) 4.5 stars
6⭐️ one of my big three books deffff. I love Vera and how her doubt about herself was portrayed(probably bc i relate soooo much) Patrick ima need like 10 more of these. Chloe love the soundtrack for it(READ IT WITH THE THREE SONGS) 🖤🖤🖤
Okay here’s the deal with this book. It was good don’t get me wrong but you can tell that this is Patrick’s first novel. Like no hate I loved parts of it but it wasn’t completely whole, the world building could have been approved on. It was honestly a bit confusing at times because the universe wasn’t entirely explained but the book was still understandable. The plot was great and super interesting, and I thought Patrick did a good job fully fleshing out the characters and developing them. The sisterly bond between Vera and Ellie was my favorite part because it felt the most realistic to me. Overall I did enjoy this book and I hope to see more literary works from Patrick on the future! ⭐️4/5
