Chelsie matters to me. More than I thought possible in such a short time. Here, we get to see Skylar fall in love with a woman, something she's never even considered before meeting Chelsie. Their bonding over delicious AF potatoes (a "pity" dish originally sent to Skylar's table after a crappy date) definitely added to the cute factor in this romance story.
I wish there was a guidebook on how to deal with these kinds of things. What to do when you’re dating a woman for the very first time in your life and you like her but don’t want to announce your relationship to the entire world.
Someone really needs to get on writing that. It’d be a bestseller in a heartbeat.
“That is fucking delicious. I’m jealous I don’t have something like this at my place.”I mean, when there's a gorgeous woman comforting you after your millionth horrible date, of course you're gonna take notice. And if you eventually spend so much time inadvertently flirting with her which later leads to having a spicy dream about her, well, that makes the kind of tension I love in my romances, haha.
“Mmm. It really is good. I might have to come back here and get this.”
“Are you going to cheat on me with another place?” I gasp. “I’m hurt.”
“Please.” She waves me off. “You know The Rose Room is my favourite.”
Something great.OMG & their first kiss moment was great!
Could I be missing out on something great with Chelsie because I’m scared? I don’t want to, but I don’t want to string her along. Between the sex dream and the kiss, I might have actual feelings for her. Parker gave me good advice.
Picturing myself dating Chelsie isn’t as complicated as I thought. Hanging out with her in restaurants. Hiking. Going to her niece’s hockey games. It might be the sign I need to take a chance with someone I never saw myself with.
A woman. Not just any woman, but Chelsie.
It brings a smile to my face. This might be easier than I thought.
I don’t know what comes over me, but I close the distance between the two of us. For once, I don’t think. I act.And of course the love thrown Hilary Duff's way made me smile since I'm also a fan, just like Skylar. One of my favorite things about the Toronto Rosebuds as a team is how much their city is behind them. Emily has this way of normalizing women in positions of power (like one of the FMCs owning the restaurant she runs) & showcasing people celebrating them (like how a little girls hockey league idolizes the Rosebuds & one of our FMCs in particular). It's this quiet, yet meaningful way she creates worlds that celebrate women, not just the FMCs, but all women that exist in her world, which I really appreciate. And I'm looking forward to the next one in this great series!
I press my lips to hers.
To Chelsie’s.
They’re warm and soft as a quiet gasp escapes.
Shit. I start to pull back, but the flashlight clanks to the floor as her hands cup my cheeks and she takes my lips in a firm kiss.
Her lips are warm, almost hesitant. My hands drift to her neck to urge her on. It’s all she needs before her tongue is swiping across my lips, and I open to her.
Our tongues brush and it’s like a switch is flipped inside of me. I can’t get enough of her.
Of the way she tastes like those suckers she always has.
The softness of her mouth.
The way she controls the kiss.
How gently her hands cup my cheeks.
Chelsie moves close, deepening the kiss. It’s so damn good. Purrs escape my lips as she nibbles on my bottom lip.
I love how soft she feels under me. I never thought I would appreciate the female form like this, but I do. All soft curves and warm touches. It’s lighting a fire in me that I long thought was extinguished.Such an adorable story & I absolutely loved experiencing it in dual-style audio. Both of these ladies (Bailey Carr & Rose Dioro) did a fantastic job bringing Emily's world to life. I've listened to Bailey's voice in this world since she narrated book 1 as well & she did another good job here too. And Rose was fantastic! She narrated Chelsie's chapters & since Chelsie's Canadian, Rose did a Canadian accent (which was great) & she added a little extra *oomph* that I really liked.
“I’ve been talking to a few of the women about what Pride night means to them. Care to add your thoughts?”This is also book 2 of the Toronto Rosebuds series, but it's a completely new story. Yes, there is interconnected moments with other teammates we originally met in book 1 (Love Pucked), however, we don't interact with them much in this book.
What does Pride mean to me?
Before, it was showing up and supporting my teammates that I love and respect. Loving anyone no matter who they love. Now? It takes on new meaning as I’m discovering this new side to myself.
“Pride is being able to love whoever you want no matter the gender. Respecting people who love the same gender. Being in love is hard no matter who you love,” I say. “I want everyone to be able to love and support the people in their life who do love the same gender. Figuring these things out about yourself isn’t easy, no matter how old you are. It’s something I’m coming to terms with right now.”
I don’t know if there is a delicate way of telling your friends that you kissed a woman. Do I blurt it out? Do I tell them about Chelsie first? Is there a right way of doing this?In fact, if this was the first book you're picking up, that's great! The only thing you should know about book 1 is that couple ends up together, which, is kinda the main thing of romance, so it's a given. Otherwise, this is a totally unique story & you don't need prior knowledge to understand the plot points or character connections, so there's nothing stopping you!
“I kissed a girl,” I blurt out.
Guess I’m going with option one then...
“You kissed a girl,” Lydia repeats.
“Did you like it?” Parker smirks.
“Parker!” Lydia hisses...
Even thinking about it now is bringing back all those feelings. It was so damn good. I don’t remember a kiss ever being that delicious before.
“You liked it,” Lydia says. “Your face is giving you away.”
“Which is why I’m freaking out...”
“I’m straight. Well, I thought I was and now I kissed Chelsie and had a sex dream about her and I have no idea what to do.”
