It was hard to actually rate this book because the writing itself was not that bad, but rather the structure did it a disservice.
It appears that the author divided the story into three parts:
1st part—sex, which consists of the 2-3 orgies that feel way too CNC.
2nd part—some plot and some more orgies.
3rd part—trying to conclude the story.
instead of trying to blend the story and see the relationship flourishing through the hardship. As a result, the writing was strangely hard to read and at times boring. The "romance" was nonexistent, as these men had the emotional capacity of an angry chihuahua, and the spice occasionally felt like a biologically infused rape. The "action" part would have been more intriguing if I actually cared about the characters.

The start of a new series of standalone dark shifter romances, Ruthless Instinct, Feral Mates. Savannah, a research scientist at Blackwell Industries, has an unfortunate accident in the middle of the forest late at night when she came upon three naked men. So, she runs! And has the most intense steam between her and the three men. When she wakes up on the forest floor, she’s convinced herself that it was all a fever dream. Until she sees an article about the Serenity Wildlife Refuge. Apollo, Kai, and Roman have all been tested on by James Wheeler, a demented scientist. After escaping they latched on to Savannah’s scent. Mate! This was an intense read by Stone, she’s so versatile in what she writes. The characters are great and the spice was spicy! I’ll be patiently waiting for Savage Mates to read about the next group of mates!.

Simply wonderful read, wonderful characters and shifter romance that has riveted from start to finish
A simply captivating read as we follow the scientist Savannah that is working in a laboratory that has been testing the possibility of cells changing Ing when exposed to very specific conditions but up until now she has not found any positive confirmation.
Then one night on the way home she had been unfortunate enough to have a puncture as she was driving through the woods, as she endeavoured to change the spare, she had three men all naked make their way out of the woods. had been completely horrified and had run as far and as fast as she could and had unfortunately been captured and then had been passionately and wildly used by each of the men before they had left her in the woods at daybreak.
Roman, Apollo and Kai are surprising able to provide the name of one of the scientists from the place they have been being held and tested on and that is James Wheeler, she is horrified as this is one of the scientists that are believed to be working for her company on the secret Portal experiment she is not supposed to know about.
As the three men meet up with Savannah who they now are certain is their mate and once again they feel the need to watch over her as they know she is employed at the laboratory they know has been holding them prisoner and carrying out all kinds of unknown tests on them.
I know that you will be captivated by the intrigue and the risks that each of them has taken to look after their mate and to discover what has been happening at Savannah’s lab. It is obvious that there is some very strange things happening and they are all to do with the portal that is supposed to be a closely guarded secret but it seems has obviously previously drawn unwanted attention on previous occurrences.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

A exciting and different read where science meets shifters. Savannah, a scientist, discovers that more is going on than meets the eye at the laboratory where she works. When an encounter with three wolf shifters, Kai, Roman and Apollo, leaves her wanting more, her discovery puts her in danger as well as them. On the run they find themselves at the mercy of a man who is truly evil and thinks he is invincible and wishes to take advantage of the connection that Savannah has, not only with the wolves, but the new life forms that have been discovered, to create something more. Something that Savannah and her wolves will die, if necessary, to stop. This very hot and steamy read has so many twists and turns, drama and suspense and every page will leave you on the edge of your seat as you read it. This book is something else and I loved the slight twist at the end.

Not Bad!
I want to explain that I'm not much for shifter story's or werewolf, sorry! But being a Piper Stone I had to try and it wasn't bad,not gorey.Kia,Roman and Apolo were werewolves that were captured by Dr.Blackwell and was tested like test tube rats,they escaped but came across Savanah or Dr.Morgan who had a heart for animals especially for the ones who were captured and tortured. Savanah knew something was wrong when she went to work one morning and notice some of work wasn't right and after that her life wasn't the same,she felt like she was being watched.She did fine out what Dr.Blackwell was doing and if he kept up it would change the world.This has heat,filled with lies and secrets and compassion, please read and make your own opinion,but enjoy I did.

Spice was 3.5/5 warning beasts driven to claim no consent yet our fmc wants them and says so in her Internal dialogue, it's still fairly graphic.
This was a science, parallel universe wolf shifter book unique explanation of how shifters come about.
The sex was great, intense primal...breed kink.
You also have the main storyline humans are the real cruel animals, science, greed playing God...that kept the story moving adding in the fighting to survive parts, well balanced but I came for the smut and was pleased.
Unsure if the second book is their story continued or not. The

She's in the middle of nowhere. When she gets out of the car, three large naked men approach her. She runs into the forest to get away. They are convinced that she is their mate. Feral Mates is a twist on what is normally thought of in the shifter romance genre. Think sci-fi meets wolves meets humans with a dash of an evil vampire! Although sci-fi is not normally a genre I enjoy, Piper found a way to make it fun!
If you’re like me and sci-fi is not your thing, I’d still recommend giving this one a try. It might surprise you!

I don't think there's any genre Piper Stone can write that I won't immediately be all over and devour. I LOVED this dark wolf shifter romance. It was a thrilling paranormal romance full of heart-pounding action and extra spicy why-choose heat. There's something so captivating about how this unfolds. Savannah initially runs from Apollo, Kai and Roman until they impress upon her their desire to mate. Along the way she discovers that they might be part of a conspiracy that she's investigating at work, putting herself in danger. With their help and their burgeoning relationship can they keep her from danger. Loved the storyline and world building. It's hot and steamy as well as full of danger and adventure. Bravo!.

There are many romances out there that have shifters and fated mate, but this is the first one that had a different story line as to how shifters came to be. This was really quite refreshing and enjoyable. It is an extremely fast paced story. It is non-stop action from the beginning right through to the end. There is lots of hot and steamy moments. Also lots of nail-biting suspense and danger. Such a good story line and I am excited to read whatever is next in this series.

The description is misleading.
I almost skipped these books because stories that focus on breeding and/or pregnancy are not my thing. This is much more a paranormal thriller than it is about fated mates and breeding. There is also a unique take on the origin of shifters.
