Innkeeper Juniper Broday thought hosting the Autumn Tart Festival at the Honeycomb Inn would be a delightful way to welcome fall—some friendly competition, a few pumpkin-spiced desserts, and absolutely zero drama. She was spectacularly wrong.
The only thing getting roasted this autumn? The suspects.
When the reigning champion Cassie Bellamy drops dead after eating her own winning tart, Juniper finds herself trapped by an October storm with five suspects who all had excellent reasons to want Cassie permanently out of the competition. There's the kind-hearted handyman whose generosity was weaponized against him, the perfectionist pastry chef with years of sabotage to avenge, the wellness influencer with a history of mysterious ingredient swaps, and a food critic who's been documenting everyone's movements with unseemly enthusiasm.
As confessions pile up faster than flour mishaps and the evidence points in every direction at once, Juniper realizes that someone turned Cassie's own manipulation into the perfect murder. Between searching for poisoned nutmeg, decoding cryptic guestbook warnings, and mediating accusations over coffee at 2 AM, she'll need to separate the petty saboteurs from the actual killer—before someone decides she knows too much.
This was a cute & quick read. There were five suspects. I was able to narrow them down to the two who I thought that may have done it. One of those two happened to be the murderer.
