Val is a fearsome warrior and Dragon slayer. He's know throughout the lands as the best there is. Women chase after him, men envy him and children hope to one day be him. When Val finds himself in a small village his eyes fall on the lovely Mara. He needs this lovely young woman, however his interest in her may not be what everyones expecting.

Mara's the daughter of an Elder of her village which deters most men. Known for her shy demeanor and crystal blue eyes she's a sight to behold. She just never expected to catch the eye of the startling handsome Dragon Slayer. He could take her away from her village and show her what fame can buy.

The Dragon. He's perfect. He's deadly. He's arrogant. Does such a perfect being deserved to be slain?

Taming the Dragon was different from the other serials I've read, which was a nice change. I felt this story was a bit more creative than some of the others, and perhaps a little less obvious in terms of what to expect. I thought some parts were funny, others were a bit odd an some just made me shake my head. I think this is one of the serials I'll stick to.

I was looking for a good sort read. This was not it. It was just odd and not a good read for me. The story was just weird and I did not like that all of the sudden the main character is sort of okay with being kidnapped? Yeah, just not the book for me.

EXCEPTIONALLY DRAGO - LICIOUS !!!

Wow! I am in love with this new serial by Jessica Ryan. In this first installment of Taming The Dragon, Ryan has once again demonstrated her amazing talent and astounding imagination. She gives her readers a wonderful magical journey full of wonder and fantasy. And a sexy dragon! And who doesn't love dragons - especially sexy ones? Right? Exciting! Well Written! Original! Smart! Imaginative! Thrilling! Addictive! Compelling! Arousing! Romantic! Sexy! The story is well developed and well written. The dialog is smart and eloquent. The characters are interesting and intriguing. All of these three elements combine giving the reader a magical adventure. The curvy fair haired, Mara, is the daughter of Erik, a village elder. She has the bluest eyes of anyone in the kingdom. She is instantly attracted to the handsome Val Woodshadow when he arrives in her remote village from the crown city, Atherny. Val is the most famous dragon-slaying knight in all of Escrimea. There has never been such fanfare for a visitor. So when Val requests that she guide him on his journey to slay a dragon and agrees to marry her, Mara is surprised, shocked and flattered but also excited at the prospect of wealth and riches and of leaving her very dull village life. But it only takes one day for Mara to realize that her soon to be husband is an arrogant blowhard who does nothing but brag about how everyone worships him. After being attacked and severely injured by goblins, Mara quickly learns that Val's intentions for her are only sadistic and sinister. And then she realizes that Val Woodshadow is the real evil of her world. What in the name of heavens has she gotten herself into! And just how can she get away from the cruel Val? So as she fears this may be her dying breath, she opens her eyes to a beautiful white dragon with sapphire blue eyes. Aleksander is a white dragon, the most powerful and greatest in the world and is built to live in the snow with a weapon not of fire but one of icy death. Mara awakens to find that she has been healed by three women who live with Aleksander who as it turns out is also a very handsome man. She discovers that she has been given to the dragon by Val after his defeat. What? She belongs to no man and certainly to no dragon! She must escape and warn her village of possible retribution by the psychotic Val Woodshadow. Mara is not impressed with Aleksander's demanding and tyrannical ways and balks at him and her captivity. But Aleksander is not interested in Mara's concerns. He has never been interested in humans' petty problems. He is a mighty dragon and is above them in every way. He is repulsed by humans and would never be attracted to a human female! Or would he? And Mara soon learns that she may possess a very powerful weapon after all.......Oh my! So good! So dreamy! Sexy handsome dragon-check! Beautiful human heroine-check! Great cast of characters-check! Adventure, excitement, attraction and sexual chemistry-check! Oh yeah! I can hardly wait for Part Two! Fantastic entertainment!

It had serious potential at first, but then the characters became caricatures. The "great" knight is overly vain, the Dragon is self absorbed, the maids eager to please the Dragon, and the heroine randomly decides to try and please the Dragon... no I hate the Dragon... I hope I please the Dragon... I need to escape the Dragon... I need to seduce the Dragon.
Girl, get some mood stabilizers, I feel like I got whip lash from her sudden turn around.
The writing itself is good, I did not notice any errors which I'm learning is a hazard of e books. Every thing made sense in the matter of the story line and plot advancement. It WAS rather short. I thought I'd be reading this at least two days, I was finished in about an hour, hour and a half. (I did not check the time but it wasn't very long, I haven't even ruled over in bed to get comfy yet.)
I will try another story from this writer as maybe this one was just not written for me. (I like or love 95% of the books I read, but there are always a few that just escape my imagination. (sorry, I wish I had nothing but great things to say.)

This book was alright at best, and just way too far-fetched at worst. The action was almost nonexistent (in all respects) and I absolutely detested the drone-like nature of pretty much all the women. The book was confusing at times, and I feel like the author should have taken more time to detail some things regarding Aleksander for the readers to better understand him. It's not as if she didn't have the room for some simple explanations; the book is only fifty pages long.

I also felt like Ms. Ryan was trying a bit too hard to make her characters and setting appear as early 15th-16th century by the word choice that she often displayed. It would have been effective and intriguing had she not also thrown in phrases like "Less talky more walky," which only served to ruin the effect her old-age speech had on the development of this book.

Overall, I am not sure that my curiosity about Mara and Alek alone will be enough to entice me to pursue the next (last) two books in this mini-serial.

The Great Dragon..

This author has a knack for bringing the humor out right at the right time! The characters were very interesting and very diverse. The way she describes the dragon you could close your eyes and see him, the same way with all the other characters. I enjoyed the banner between the characters. All in all a good short story.

Alright Start

This wasn't the best or worst that I've read. It started off pretty well, but after meeting the dragon things got a bit annoying. At the same time though, I suppose the way the dragon is depicted is accurate... he's arrogant, matter of fact, and kinda rude and controlling. I'm not 100% sure on how I feel about this yet.

It was okay

This was a okay read. I love serials and cliffhangers but this part had no closure. The book just came to an abrupt halt. Like an incomplete sentence...I don't think I will be continuing this.

Good book

The story was ok and it started great. The dragon safes the girl that is suppose to be sacrifice to him from the villain but The Dragon seems to be full of him self. Hopefully the next book will start getting better.

Interesting

With a bit of historical edge with a knight with a special sword who hunts and kills Dragons. Uses maidens to help trap the dragon. And a Dragon who keep what's given to him even thought the girl was dragged into it. Well written and entertaining to read.
