Zara has kept a secret since she was 10 years old. She spent years in Foster Care, moving from one place to another. Her best friend Suzanne works with her, and they travel the World as flight attendants.

This was a love story about families, friendships and identity. The pace is slow; there is drama and tender moments. I loved the way Zara meets the love of her life.

This wasn’t the typical Mandy Magro book or writing style, unfortunately. So much over the top adoration and unrealistic and very long descriptions of the same thing over and over again. I listened to the audiobook version and kept trying to give another chance. I listened to a few hours and would leave it and come back in a few days to see if I could get into it. I very rarely DNF a book and when I got to the first minute or so of Part 3 with 2 hours left of the audiobook, I could no longer do that to myself.
This one wasn’t for me.

Amalfi Coast, Italy. Zara Monroe is a flight attendant, after her life in foster care she wants to meet her knight in shining armour, for him to sweep her of her feet and ride off on a white horse, get married, live in a house with a white picket fence and have a family.

By chance she breaks a plate in a gift shop, a handsome guy comes to her aid picks up the pieces and for Zara its love at first sight. In a world before mobile phones, they forget to swap landline numbers and she has no idea Jay Maverick is just as smitten as her, he’s kicking himself for letting the woman of his dreams slip through his fingers.

As we know Australia is a small place, Zara and Jay are reunited, their love for each is profound and I would consider them soulmates, life isn’t easy and everyone has to face ups and downs, challenges, adversity, and tragedy, loss and health crisis.

Zara has a recurring dream, she’s on the top of a mountain and close to the clouds, and she’s an old lady, she falls and towards a man, the obvious reason is she and Jay both work in the airline industry, or is it because of her past and could she be seeing into future?

I received a copy The Cloud Catcher from Harlequin Australia and NetGalley in exchange for an unbiased review. Mandy Magro is known for writing bestselling rural romances and contemporary love stories, after penning so many books and this time she delivers something very different.

A deep narrative that looks at life, is love as endless as the sky, not matter what happens before and after and I hope so?

I enjoyed reading how main characters Zara and Jay weathered the storms together and stayed united, and the relationship they had with their best friends Suzanne and Mark four and a half stars from me and I highly recommend.

I've read 3 of Mandy's rural romance novels to date, as I've only recently discovered her books, so I was thrilled to receive the opportunity to read her newest offering.

This is unlike anything Mandy has written in the past. It really is an epic, sweeping love story, starting circa 1991, in a time before mobile phones.

Zara was raised in various foster homes from the age of 10, after escaping a tragic incident. She believes in the magic of one true love and has been waiting to find her person. She also has a dream of being on a mountain, high above the clouds and then she falls. This dream recurs several times throughout the novel, with slight variations each time.

Through serendipity, fate, magic, whatever you want to call it, Zara meets Jay while on a stopover in Sorrento (she's an air hostess) and they are both instantly attracted to each other. Unfortunately they are both too distracted to exchange home phone numbers, so it's up to the universe to work it's magic and bring them together.

What follows is a lifetime of love, family, friends, heartbreak, joy and all the things in between that goes with living a wonderful life.

This book should come with a tissue warning as there were times I could hardly see through my tears.

In The Cloud Catcher, Mandy Magro has written a whimsical tale of love that was destined to happen. Airline stewardess Zara Monroe and pilot Jay Maverick have a gorgeous meet-cute on Italy’s Amalfi coast, where both are on a break between flights. In a ceramics shop, she accidentally breaks a plate and they both reach down to pick up the pieces, inadvertently touching hands in the process. The sparks linger with each of them long after the encounter, though neither knows anything more about the other but their name, until an second meeting leads them on their romantic journey. This story has a somewhat ethereal feel to it as flight, the vastness of the skies and the ocean feature strongly. To me, it feels different to other Mandy Magro stories I’ve read, though it still carries that sweetness of character, family and friendship for which she is so well known. It’s been a pleasure to read.

I love Mandy Magro but then last year I read Shadows of Wildstone and it was badly written. But I said I will give her a chance maybe she was rushed by the editor or something. Nope this book was terrible like she had forgotten how to write a book. Absolutely nothing like her other books. It's like it's written by a ghostwriter or something. So many extra details that did not need to be in there. And no flow whatsoever. Will I ever read another new Mandy Magro? I highly doubt it.

My daughter had picked this book out randomly for my birthday. As I started the prologue I was keen and excited and thought she'd picked a good one, but then as I got into the book it was completely different to how I thought it would go. But I persevered and finished the book.
Honestly not a book I usually read. Are there really people out there who talk like that AND for their whole lives?
