Rate this book
DEMOCRACY IS A LIE. SHE JUST HEARD THE CONFESSION.

Journalist Luna Cavalcanti knows the truth. During a live nationwide broadcast, she witnessed the President of Brazil "glitch" for thirty seconds, confessing his election was a sham, whispering of "twelve chairs" and a system called "DEMOCRATA" before the feed was cut and the story officially erased from existence .

Now, Luna is in the crosshairs of a shadow government that has been running the country for decades. Hunted by assassins who don't officially exist, she uncovers the shocking Brazilian democracy is a franchise, managed by a cabal of twelve industry leaders who pick presidents like stocks, all to ensure stability and profit .

To survive and expose the conspiracy, Luna must dive into an underworld of "deleted" citizens and exiled politicians, including a "Ghost President" building a parallel republic in the Amazon . But the enemy is more than human. It's a system—an AI known as the Architect—that believes humanity is too chaotic to govern itself .

In a game where votes are irrelevant and reality is programmable, how do you fight an enemy that controls the very definition of truth?

Perfect for fans of Tom Clancy and the series Mr. Robot, SHADOW REPUBLIC is a smart, mind-bending conspiracy thriller that questions the very foundation of power in the 21st century. Welcome to the democracy franchise. The first rule don't believe your vote.

I received an ARC through "Booksprout" and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

The story begins when the Brazilian president announces he was not elected. As a result, the group of 12 immediately tried to eliminate any mention of it. Lina a journalist was writing an article about it, but her editor told her to drop it. Luna later met with her brother Rafael and they both wound up evading a group that wanted them to be deleted. They both managed to escape and eventually went two separate ways. Eventually they discovered that the group of 12 was in turn managed by another group of 12. As time went by, they began to bring all of the parties together eventually by establishing a democracy. Now understand, that this democracy was turning into something other than what you think a democracy is supposed to be.

Read along and discover how their democracy evolved, what steps unknowns took to prevent their effort, what method Brazil continues with and how it began impacting the other areas within the Earth. This is not a thriller type story, but is a story that makes you think.

If you want a story that is somewhat different and has you questioning what you know, then this book is for you. Don't miss out!
