Aria Pecorelli is fresh off a toxic engagement, determined to start anew in North Carolina. As an elementary school teacher and newly single dog mom, she’s ready to leave the trauma behind and focus on healing—while steering clear of men.
Antonio Ranaldi lives by the mantra “Once a Marine, always a Marine.” Stationed in South Carolina, he finds all the support he needs on base. Scarred by a past relationship, he’s focused on new aspirations, with romance the last thing on his mind.
But destiny has other plans.
The chemistry between Aria and Antonio is undeniable, the attraction stronger than either has ever felt. Yet, with Aria sworn off men and Antonio facing an impending reenlistment, their hurdles are just beginning. As the spark between them intensifies, can they overcome distance and their painful pasts to embrace a shared future?
I started this book and new to me author on a Saturday and finished it the following day! It took me only one page to find myself in a story of a young woman named Aria, who had escaped an abusive relationship and was finding her way back to happiness. Meeting another young man was the last thing she had on her mind. Keeping busy with teaching school and her new rescue dog, Dianna the two instantly became friends and Dianna a fierce protector of her new favorite human. When friends suggest a day out, Aria is hesitant to go not wanting to leave Dianna alone. Her friends encourage her to bring her furry friend along since it's a day out at a white-water rafting center, perfect for dogs and friends to gather and enjoy some music and conversation together. Little did she know that meeting a Marine named Antonio might just be the change and friendship she needed in her life and if Dianna liked him that would be an amazing feat. Through trial and deep conversations, the storyline dives into how PTSD affects people with trauma both military and civilians and the therapy they receive to help them navigate life's uncertainties. Having spent 33 years myself supporting my husband's year of service I couldn't help but laugh aloud at the banter between Marines and Air Force characters. I loved the relationship between friends (don't we all want supportive friends cheering us on through our ups and downs) and family that picks you up and helps to put you together again. This is a sweet and cozy read with just a bit of spice thrown in. I am eagerly awaiting more books by this author. A five-star review!!
Such an amazing romance with super relatable characters and captivating plot line!! Anna has a way of describing her characters that sucks you into the story. Love love love!!!!
I loved this debut novel from Anna Renne. While romance isn’t my go-to genre, the incredibly written characters and spot on dialogue pull you in whether you’re ready or not. This book isn’t just for romance lovers, but lovers of a good story. In particular, the back and forth POV between Aria and Antonio really helped drive the plot of the book and allowed the characters to have greater depth. You can feel the author’s whole heart in these pages, and that sincerity makes the story not just engaging, but genuinely special. Keep writing, Anna!!!
5 gold stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ of an amazing book! To be honest, I am not much of a book reader, but not even a few pages into the book, I was hooked. The switching between the two characters of Aria and Antonio point of views adds an intimate and addictive layer to the storytelling. I also loved how vividly the author brought all her characters to life. A Mutual Destiny is a deeply moving romance novel about healing, trust, and the courage to love again.
I am the author of this book. This is a debut story as well as the beginning of my first series. It is near and dear to my heart. They say write about what you know. Well. This story is loosely based on my own, real life love story. Thank you for taking a chance on a new author!
