Keep Moving But Lay Still is a memoir and autobiography of regaining/managing health while learning to be yourself in a confusing and mundane life after a brain tumour diagnosis. I (Jake Putt) was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in 2015 at the age of 16, for what seemed like it might be the end for me, was just a “bump in the road.” It was more of an answer that I didn’t want to hear about what I’d been experiencing. I’ve been on a straight forward oncological journey ever since, but I’ve dealt with a lot of ups and downs neurologically and physically. By telling my story of a likely misdiagnosis, I hope that I can save someone else from experiencing what I have or at least bring about an earlier detection. This book not only tells my story leading up to my cancer diagnosis, it’s about what I do to fight back as an afterthought. I’ve adopted many tools along the way to help me deal with things mentally and physically. I hope that this book can reach the right people, so I can shed some light on a dark topic and share the things I do that might also benefit them. I hope to be an advocate for people facing a similar battle.
